DeLaRue:
No, it isn't and can't be 'gone' just because the petitioners 'push'.

A party to a case can push his line of argument, but it is for the court to interprete the Constitution.

Interpretation of the Constitution is not like proving a fact where the court is to a large extent relying on lawyers for the parties. The constitution reserves the power of Interpretation to the court. Lawyers can only seek to persuade the court.

I also don't believe the 25% issue is substantially challenging. In my view, there's less than a 5% chance that the court will adopt a literal interpretation as that is unlikely to reflect the intention of the makers of the Constitution.

I suspect that is why the President 's lawyers did not waste too much time on it. It's fairly simple.
I agree with all you posted except your view in the bolded.

I'd say it's 50-50

Obi's entire petition was just to discredit tinubu, nothing more
It was Tinubu that was announced na, what else? It was also to discredit INEC.

Obi team failed to show how results were manipulated.obi team brought nothing on FCT since they know they won't benefit
We have been through this before. Obi said he was challenging the results in Rivers, Benue and other states. He only used IREV to show that it cannot be used to settle the dispute due to INEC's non compliance.

As for the issue of FCT, it's a constitutional matter that requires no witness.

I told you there would be a reply after the final address but you argued.

Don’t forget that the petitioners didn’t make efforts to convince the court about the result manipulations in Rivers, Benue, Imo and Lagos. All they do is dump results sheets on the floor of the court.
If that's the case then there's an issue. But I expect that it shouldn't.

Answer the simple question, did Tinubu secure 25% of votes cast in FCT Abuja, you are busy running around like a headless chicken
Leave them. That particular sentence would be used against them in the reply. How does one explains that lie? Lol.

But is he correct? If 29states includes FCT it means he is assuming that he got 25% in FCT too.

Can you state the issues the defense misinterprets? I spent over two hours carefully reading it and I can't see the misinterpretation. It carefully handles all the points raised by the petitioner. The only area in the defense that doesn't impress me was that of 25% FCT. Every other area was spot on.
The defense did not tackle the issue of results manipulation in Rivers, Benue, Imo, Lagos etc. and how the court should resolve it. If the petitioners profer their own solution, the hands of the court would be tied. They focused on the use of electronic transmission/transfer Vs manual transmission/transfer. That's not the issue of the petition but rather whether IREV should be used in case of disputes of election results. They did not even mention BVAS report.

He addressed the drug issue from every angle possible, and contested even if it were true, it happened 30 years ago. He quoted the constitution where it says criminal conviction could only prevent you for 10 years. I think he gave the best argument against the drug forfeiture. The weakest was argument was against 25% in FCT in my opinion.

In all, Wole Olanipekun and co did a great job. I am waiting for Obi's lawyers.
You are right. The easiest part for the defense is the drug forfeiture. The defense failed to address the critical issue regarding results manipulation which would have given credence to IREV report. They tried to ignore the fact that results of Rivers and Benue were manipulated. That will be a weak point.

Also the 25% in FCT was a weak defense. If the petitioners push for a literal interpretation, it's gone.

The drug issue was a mere distraction from the petitioners. A way to discredit the respondent. It was never going to be a factor.

Brilliant submission in all by Tinubu’s legal team. The petitioners watery case will be thrown out with heavy fine handed down for wasting the court’s time.
The defense is poor because it misinterpretes the issues raised by the petitioners. If Olanipekun does not know what he is defending he should ask Livy

DSS are incompetent. I thought the Simon Ekpa was arrested one time In Finland to be deported to Nigeria so what now happened.
I followed that case but later discovered it wasn't DSS. It was the Finland government who did a kind of questioning on him. It had nothing to do with his ESN activities.

DSS should go and arrest Simon Ekpa just as they arrested Nnamdi Kanu. They can kill him if they wish. Police should track the ESN hideouts and kill all of them. Mine is there should be no military takeover. I don't want army forming roadblocks and doing python dance or whatever. They can go to the north where bandits and herdmen are causing more serious insecurity.

Why are they interested in the SE when NE and NW are far worse. Even NC. Let them go to Benue.

Why don't you bring that reports from online (links and all) let guys scrutinize the authenticity and credibility of the report?

It is very normal for guys to pick on you to back up your claims when you said something such as that. We all know SE is unsecured; News and videos abound of all the happenings that's going on there.

If you bring a claim that, such place is secured. You need to bring facts and reports. The intriguing part is that you claimed that you've reports of them. Oya, bring them na, you wan come turn tables and Amala again.

The reports were gotten online. But the review was an opinion.

I used to think that the SE was more insecure than even NC until I started checking and found out that SE is even better than SW. SS is the most secured region.

With the way things are going, the government may end up spending more on palliatives and related interventions to manage the post-subsidy removal period than what they'll spend on subsidizing petrol. The palliatives are just an avenue for the politicians to loot.

The solution to this issue is to fight corruption in the public sector, especially among the ruling class. I hope in a few years, many people won't be regretting this petrol subsidy removal policy by Buhari and Tinubu.

Unless the local refineries are fixed soon and power supply improves significantly across the country within the next couple of years, the petrol subsidy removal policy as hurriedly done by Tinubu won't be justified.

A better approach would have been to reduce cases of oil theft and other corrupt practices in the oil and gas sector and leave the subsidy as it's.

There's nothing bad if an oil-producing nation subsidizes petrol for its citizens if corruption can be reduced to the barest minimum since the refineries haven't been working mostly.

Without minimizing corruption in the sector, I don't see how removing subsidy will have any significant positive effect on the economy and Nigerians.
Thanks.

A simple move could have just been procuring large busses on cheap rates accross major cities.

If people know they can spend less on transportation, fuel subsidy removal won't affect much.

Many of us don't realise that most policies by government are political and selfish but dressed in the deceptive cloak of helping the poor.
