But Arteta benched Tomi for White at RB and he was getting the results he wanted...

Naaa... I will rather take Arteta decision with proven results over your Agenda opinion.
Iamoyindamola has not understood that tactical role of White in Arteta's set-up that's why he think he is poor. I believe his reason is that he doesn't overlap. But White is not really a RB in that set-up. He is a CD during attacking phase and only plays RB defending. That is why he was preferred over Tomi. Playing Tomi and Zinny at either end will weaken the defense. White and Zinny worked well.

The reason Arteta brought Timber, is for him to give the Zinny effect on the right. He tried it with Partey towards the end of last season. It worked well on our final game against Wolves.

Timber and Zinny will make Arteta's line up unpredictable as the opposite coach won't know who will be inverted so as to nullify the tactics. If Timber is inverted then either Tierney or Kiwior plays LB. If Zinny is inverted, either White or Tomi or even same Timber plays RB.

That was why I said based on the last friendly, that Timber will be hard to push aside because of his solidity and versatility. Timber can be your attacking fullback, RCB and also inverted RB.

Same coach that continues making silly decisions that affect the team
Every coach makes silly decisions. Pep made a silly decision in his tactics in the 2022 CL final when he lost to Chelsea. In fact anyone saddled with the responsibility of making decisions must have made a few silly ones. Even you, if you are in the position of decision making, then you must have made some silly ones too. But at the end, it is the cumulative effect that is used to judge performance.

So let's not sound as if Arteta is a simple dumbass, he finished above Klopp.

You cannot separate the team from the manager especially if it's the manager that actually built the team.

This Arsenal that we are all salivating about was built by Arteta. Give him the credit or else don't credit the team at all.

I can only rate coaches based on their previous performances and what they are doing to improve.

Pep for example is so good that even when you think he is weakened he bounces back. Losing Gundogan and Mahrez who were main stays in his team last season will surely weaken him. We will see how he works that out. But so far, I am not impressed.

For Arteta, he already had a good first eleven. He has spent big to get ready made stars who can go straight in to improve the first team is a massive response to last season. For me right now, he has the best squad in the league.

He should be competing with the very best in Europe.

You don't expect him to play exactly like Timber. Variety is the spice of life. There are some aspects where Tomi is better too. You don't have to underrate Tomi. Moreso, today's match was a friendly.
It's not underrating but comparison. Tomi will really need to reinvent himself to upstage Timber. I speak from experience.

Arteta doesn't rate Tierney and Zinchenko is unavailable.
I don't think so. I think it's because of Tierney that he brought Timber. Tierney cannot play the inverted role but is very good going forward. So Timber will play as the inverted fullback.

That Timber self is very versatile as he can even push forward into attack. He should be our best signing based on what I saw early this morning. Tomiyasu should go and find rag to clean his bench as he will spend a lot of time there.

So if I say I went to the market to buy two bags of the rice and the beans you requested , then I should put a comma after rice?

Comma is used when more than two items are listed disjunctively. Similar to when among is used instead of between for more than two items.

Rice, beans, or yam.

Rice, beans, and yam

You're reading alot into the emotionalism that surrounds Peter Obi's candidacy than the actual merits of it. The spirit of the law rather than the letter is how the law is interpreted.

The simple interpretation of the law is,

The winner should have the highest total number of votes cast. . .

AND

He/She should have garnered at least 25% of the votes in 2/3rds of the states of the federation (full stop)

Remember that the FCT being Abuja was not a reality until 1991 yet this law had existed from 1979. That should tell you;

1. It is not particular to Abuja. The Abuja part was added when the constitution was amended. It most probably was Lagos before and you dare not claim that the candidate that did not obtain 25% in Lagos but had the highest total number of votes whilst achieving at least 25% of votes cast in 2/3rd majority of the states in Nigeria did not win the election.

2. It was created for federal character purposes meaning one state does not take precedence over another. 1979 constitution was trying to fix the problems created by the first republic constitution.

With that in mind, if the law had not included the (and FCT part) it would have implied that one need not hold elections in the FCT thus disenfranchising the denizens of Abuja. On other hand, If it had mentioned 37 states, then any other information about Nigeria stating that she constituted of 36 states would have been factually wrong.

The law needed her to be a vote-able state for elections sake and yet preserve her integrity as the federal capital at the same time.
Based on your submission don't you think it's the same reason Abuja was created? For Federal character? Because the purpose of Abuja was to create a melting point for Nigerians where no tribe or religion will have any control and that would become the seat of power of the president? Hence why the need to give it that importance? To the extent that the original settlers on that area were actually relocated and compensated and named Suleja in Niger state.

So if the law gives Abuja such importance should not be a surprise.

Again, if the spirit of the law is not for FCT to be given special importance then why was it added AND the FCT. Why not INCLUDING the FCT? Afterall, the FCT were to be treated as if it was a state?

Besides logically speaking, if FCT was to be included it would make no sense as two thirds of 37 is not feasible since 37 being a prime number is not divisible by any number apart from itself. So asking for 2/3 of 37 is a confusion on its own.

As to your first sentence, it's true that I voted Peter Obi and I don't want Tinubu because of his criminal past (it is a bad record for the country and a precedence that will haunt us for ever), but however, if an election or the making of a president should be done, it should follow the process in at least an excellent manner.

The idea of riggers wins all, or certificate forgers or violation of the constitution just to impose yourself on the country should be resisted by all. Posterity is waiting to judge us all if we support evil.

OK lemme agree that Abuja is the 37 state.

Meaning a winner must make 25% in 2/3 of 37 states.

So what is 2/3 of 37 =24.6

So which state will be considered 0.6?

So in essence, the constitution is clear...

2/3 of 36 states which is 24 AND ABUJA

Meaning 25% in at least 24 out of the 36 states and then 25% in Abuja making at 25 states.

But let's see how the court interpretes it.

There's is no number that is not divisible.

That they are trying to develop your brain at elementary level by telling you that doesn't mean it is correct universally.

Every numerator can be divided by any denominator.
You may either have a whole number (which is the elementary knowledge you acquired) or fraction (decimal) which isn't whole number.

We all had to grow from the elementary knowledge anyway.
Are you a mathematician?

If there are 37 persons and I asked you if they are divisible by 4, how many persons will you get? The idea of divisibility is that there should be no fractions. Fractions therefore invalidates the divisibility as the data is lost.

Mind you I didn't say divide by 4, I asked if it is divisible by 4. The answer will refer to whether that number of items is in the multiples of 4.

I took time to educate you what your elementary teacher didn't or perhaps you weren't paying attention.

25% of FCT makes no sense and you know it

You mean all a candidate needs to do is win FCT regardless of how he does in other states

It's like saying whoever wins Awka automatically becomes governor of Anambra or if you don't get 25% in Awka you cannot be governor regardless of how you do in other LGAs across the state even if you win other LGAs by a landslide

No constitution said that and that will be a silly thing to suggest but no be today
The constitution did not say if you won just FCT you have won the election. It says to be declared winner, the candidate has to secure 25% votes in 24 states and also 25% in the FCT. That's the literal interpretation of the constitution.

Your argument is that FCT is not important as it cannot be given a higher status than other states. This premise is on the idea that all votes are equal and equivalent.

My argument is premised on the idea that all votes are equal but not equivalent. How? The requirement for spread. If all votes are equivalent then there would be no need for spread. A simple majority should suffice. 25% in Bayelsa for example is less than 100k votes whereas 25% in Kano is over 1million votes. Hence 100k in Bayelsa ~ 1m in Kano.

The same principle applies to 25% in FCT. It is equivalent to 25% in 24 states following the same logic. That's what I see it means. I didn't put it there, I am just interpreting what's there.

If we want to remove the 25% clause in FCT to win an election, we should equally remove the 25% in 24 states.
