solomonbrown64: ..... Lol.... you want make Raul kill Emery be that. I think major Pepe's problem has to do with the fullback supporting him, he doesn't have an understanding with his fullback yet. Chambers has recently shown himself to be an awesome fullback when defending but he doesn't attack enough. Whenever Pepe is given the ball, he tends to have two or more players on him. Yes, he has the ability to draw players to himself and there is more than 80% chance he frees himself from those players but the problem is that, who are the players making runs into space that those players on him have vacated. Where is the number 8/10 who should have moved into space and more importantly, where is the overlapping fullback? These players are usually no place to be found which is why Bellerin coming back is very important. He varies with his movements; he can move in to the midfield or he can do the overlap and he does it effortlessly which is why he had six assists I think before his injury
.... Pepe has his issues too but his dribbling and giving away possession will reduce if he has players moving into space and giving him options. He will come good in time but that chemistry can only come about if he is playing in the first team, not with the likes of Balogun and co...... Absolutely spot on. Pepe can easily pick his man one on one. But when they crowd him up, he would be force to either pass or attempt to dribble all, so most likely to lose the ball. But with rampaging fullbacks overlapping, he has the option to either pass on or use a dummy to open up the opposition defence. |

It's funny how people claim to be smart but end up exposing their foolishness. I would never have imagined you being so stupid. Once again you disappoint me. No one is happy when we struggle to beat lowly rated Bournemouth. This is so elementary that it doesn't require a mention. The point of argument is between winning dirty or playing well and losing. I have brought up scenarios where United won with drab football against an Arsenal side that played so well. How this is difficult to grasp baffles me. Torreira... AM... I give up.... Chai! I take Amadioha beg you, reason well. He used 7 defenders which is not conventional but he still won. That's what's called grinding out Mr man. Torriera recently has been deployed in an attacking role. That doesn't necessarily mean he is an AM. Chambers has been playing RB, but he isn't one. Auba has been deployed to RW several times, he isn't one; surely you no know ball and I'm very disappointed in you. Emery's notoriety is making you lose your sense. Please don't. |

iPopAlomo: What is our usual approach... It seems you like contradicting yourself... Did we try our usual approach and fail before we resulted to Grinders football...?!! Please what approach are you expecting when you use three DMs in a match...? Attacking Football or Grinding Football?!!
that's a simple question you'll not answer....
Maybe you don't understand football... If you're grinding for a win with one shot on goal vs Bournemouth and Bournemouth has 10 shots on goal... On paper and in real life... Only one team is playing and the other is scrapping.
Now, is our usual approach towards matches fluid football which was synonymous to why i became an arsenal fan or grinding football... One reason I've always hated that Emisery even before he became an Arsenal coach
I pulled up stats of Liverpool while one slow individual said Liverpool was grinding result.
If you dont know... Know this now... Grinding results is winning 1-0 while firing 10 shots on target... why do you think people turned on Wenger... chances after chances are created and nobody takes them... the term... grind the result out.
As much as i really hate to do this... I'll have to call Lana1 on this discussion... Manure never won a game at OT with one shot on target... NEVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! throughout 90 mins while Ferguson was in charge.
Man city didn't lose to wolves with one shot on target... lets not be unfortunate and start padding figures. Both goals from Wolves came from exquisite counter attack.
If Arsenal vs Bournemouth is winning dirty or the draw vs manure is winning dirty...
You sir... You're DELUDED.
Classic Shit post... trashed... I have always been attracted to your angry demeanor when posting. So I choose not to insult you back. But if there is any delusion it's in your comprehension. You quoted this... when their usual approach isn't working or when their regular players are not available. But sadly enough, you picked only the first line and left the second. I am hugely disappointed in you Alomo. You shouldn't come out this stupid na. Besides Emery has always deployed a AM, even if it means playing someone out of position. He has used Ceballos, Ozil, and even Torriera. Only on two occasions he didn't funny enough that was against Man Utd and Bournemouth, the same matches we showed that he 'grinded out'. But you failed to acknowledge. And you dey claim say you know ball? Wow! And listen, if a team puts out 10shots on target you shouldn't call that 'grinding out' that pure attacking football. And that's not what happened Vs BM. Please call Lana1 let him school you about Ferguson's Man Utd. I only pity how your stupidity would be exposed. Because Ferdie once beat Arsenal in an FA cup quarter finals using 7, yes SEVEN defenders. You just fooled yourself Mr Alomo. |

Let me give you their rebuttals,
" You don't grind out results against Aston villa and Bournemouth, we are Arsenal, we have pepe and Aubameyang, every team should bow at our feet, We have a top class team that should be competing with Liverpool and City.
Also, it is important we have shots on and off goal, and concede little or no shots and corners irrespective of result/outcome of the game..
Wenger is a better manager, he entertains us, we might be losing 1-0, 2-1 to likes of Blackburn, Stoke and QPR, but you see positive football
Lastly, Emery should be sacked asap, bring in Mourinho,Benitez or Allegri, they will give us good football and trophies with this set of players."
I hope it is clear. Lmao Thanks for bringing it up before dem come spoil my mood. No need to answer dem then. |

iPopAlomo: Since Solo decided to not answer this question, I'll ask your boss spy360 the same question...
What exactly is grinding out result...?
What exactly is grinding out results at home to Bournemouth...
Winning 1-0 with 1 shot on goal at the Emirates to Bournemouth .
or winning 1-0 with 10 shots on goal at the emirates to Bournemouth
That's 2 scenerios up there...
Please pick 1. ...the flow. Grinding out a result is a football technical term used when a team decides to adopt a practical but non conventional tactics to win a match when their usual approach isn't working or when their regular players are not available. From here it's seen that it's against weaker oppositions that you grind out a result. You don't say you grind out a result when you play Liverpool they are superior side for now at least. But when it's against weaker teams like the case of Bournemouth that the term is rightly used. So whether it's one shot on goal or ten, it's immaterial as long as you manage to secure a win. In grinding out a result, winning is more important than play. The Man United teams of the Ferguson era were very good at it unlike their Arsenal counterparts. They know how to nick 3pts against stubborn oppositions when they discover that their exciting play isn't going to yield the desired points. But you see Arsenal after playing so well with exciting patterns still end up losing, something similar to what happened to Man City against Wolves. Now some fans see their boring play and criticize it, but the manager (and players as well) know that for them to garner to points, they have to play dirty. If this epistle is not enough to give you guys understanding, then it's a pity. I can't help your ignorance further. Thanks. |

Dreamswayne: You would be greatly disappointed if you think Tierney and Hector will let us play good football...
This is not a personnel problem but a tactical problem, Emery is trying not to lose first before thinking of winning...
As far as he keeps on selecting this plodders in our midfield, Pepe will keep on struggling... No one to link up play with or perform one touch pass with... Once Pepe gets the ball, he is isolated with 3 markers on his tail...
The warning signs are there for all to see, once the form drops, we will lose a lot while not being able to create anything...
#EmeryOut You talk as if we can be better than our current position. #fact101 The two teams ahead of us are far better in every way including their managers. Yet Emery hasn't played his best team. The only loss we have had so far this season is against the European champions- Liverpool who have won every single PL game. Man City has lost to Wolves and Crystal Palace. If that is not enough for Emery to convince you to stay on till end of season then I am sorry. |

Playing 3 midfielders who are not natural creative midfielders against man utd is something mourinho would not do sef. At least ceballos or ozil should be infused into the team to supply Auba or any of the front 3. The shouldn't be feeding on scrap.
This article is apt and clearly describes the problem with the team.
His "safety- first" approach against a united team that was there for the taking. I guess no one on this thread approves of Emery's defensive approach. What Solo us saying is that he can't be sacked now by any board, because he is 3rd not 13th. |

BlueRayDick: There was nowhere I insinuated Niles being red carded was on emery. You are trying to quote me out of context.
Arsenal should not be grinding out result against a newly promoted Aston Villa at home, even to the extent of getting red carded.
The point up there is clear enough. Arsenal shouldn't be so poor to the extent of committing needless fouls and having a player sent off against Aston Villa. At least not when we have superior fire power. We all accept we are not always at our best defensively so it is only wise we go all in with our area of strength(attack): score goals early and not be recycling possession.
The so called "Grinding out result" that you so much celebrate Emery for is only due to his wrong team selection and conservative approach when he should be firing on all cylinders. I ask you, of what use is fielding Auba, Pepe and laca/Saka upfront when you will only play 3 DM's behind them ? Does it make any sense ? Even the shitty manure utd that knew how deadly our attackers can be still set up their team to attack us rather than wait cowardly for us to take the game to them.
You may keep coming up with excuses upon excuses as to why we have a team without pattern playing drab football, struggling against teams in the second part of the table and being forced to defend against watford that has never won this season, but the fact remains Emery is busy doing nothing to improve the lot of this team.
For 4ck sake ! Watford has only scored 4 goals this season and two of those were agsinst Arsenal. Indulge me please. Please I will like you to focus on the point of argument. It's a comparison between Frankfurt and B'Mouth which was more difficult to beat. City got eliminated 2ce from UCL by Liverpool & Spurs, do you think Pep will like to face an English side in knockout stage?
None of our rivals could also wants to play us,
Yes I said we could have trashed Frankfurt instead of a Chelsea,I'm sure Chelsea also prefer Valencia to us. Bros some people don't have practical sense. With faulty education everything becomes theoretical. Personally I'd rather face a non English side in a European final. For some others it may be different. We trashed Frankfurt 0-3 away with kids, but struggle to beat Bournemouth at home. It's common sense really to know that familiarity makes things more difficult. But then common sense is not really common. |

kodded: no matter how shitty man city might look, unai emery will still play 3 CDM, and will allow man city to finish us with shot We must understand something. The reason Ferguson won so many PL titles was not because his teams always play well but because they could grind out results. That's the problem with this Pep team. You can't always play good football, sometimes you play badly and sometimes the good play won't work. You could win 8-0 today and lose 0-1 tomorrow. It's the ability to grind out results when the bad day comes that makes you win consistently. Today as against Man Utd we played badly, but you can't take away the fact that we got a point at Old Trafford and three points yesterday which has actually moved us to 3rd a point behind Pep's Man City. At this rate despite how bad Emery is as a coach, you can't sack him. He hasn't even fielded his best squad yet, so his argument remains valid. I don't like Emery one bit, but for now I can't fault him, and as a fan I can only wish him the best. I am not among the silly lots that take things sentimentally, I am a facts person, a scientist to the core. Only fools argue with sentiments. |
