duality: They are just putting it diplomatically. I believe they mean; Go and meet the president, Beg him and settle with him. remind him of the security challenges and torment you are facing. But that is what we have been telling him. hope he listens this time.
My brother, Amaechi has not done anything wrong to the president and has no squabbles with him. These issues have only escalated because somebody stands to benefit from it and that is Wike. Even if Amaechi goes to beg the president, you think it will resolve the issue. All the propangadas and lies are emanating from one source- Wike. Its just unfortunate that PEJ /GEJ have allowed Wike to fool them because he needs presidential support to do the impossible which is becoming governor of RS.

Goddex: Bunch of jobless losers.
They made it a surprised visit else. .I trust Rivers state youths.
Point of correction, the miscreants at the airport the other day do not represent Rivers youths. Those were political thugs of Wike's grassroot democratic initiative. Rivers youths are more dignified than that, and if you live in Rivers state you will know that most of the youths are behind Amaechi.
FYI, the Ikwerre youth movement which is the youth arm of the Ogbakor Ikwerre ( the umbrella body of Ikwerre nationality) and other Rivers youths were at the airport to show solidarity for the governor and ensure no tout from GDI comes to embarass the visiting govs.

PoliticsRe: Patience Jonathan Is Angry With Amaechi For The Way He Treated Okrika People by ssii: 10:22am On Jul 18, 2013
I watched the program on NTA last night, and I was really taken aback by the level of hypocrisy.
I am not one to call leaders names, but people must stand by the truth at all times and speak against any form of wrongdoing and injustice.
PEJ tried to convince the bishops and Nigerians that she has no hand in the crises in Rivers, but truly her words unconsciously betrayed her.
Instead of openly telling the bishops the areas Amaechi has erred that has made her vow to unseat him, she was quoting scriptures about obedience to parents and putting away of arrogance to bishops who already know the bible. She claims she has committed the crises in Rivers state to God. Really? No wonder, God said this people call on me with their lips but their hearts are far from me. PEJ said she is the mother of Nigerians, the mother of over 170 million people. She said Amaechi is her son.
She has no hand in the crises, but she was in PH for 11 days, totally disregarded the governor, declared to everyone at a wedding that Rivers state is worse off with him, and better under Odili. She openly declared how she loves and supports Wike, and how this is the first time she is treated as a goddess, sorry first lady in Rivers. Can she truly deny that she has no hands in the hiring of ex-militants (Ateke and co) to barricade the govt house and demand for the gov's impeachment? From the last time she was in PH till now there has been renewed cult fights. Three people were killed in 3 consecutive nights that led to the imposition of curfew at Amadi-ama. One of the ex-militants confessed to someone I know that he was called to come back from the state where he was learning a trade( as part of the amnesty prog), to destabilize the Rivers but he refused.
Is PEJ really denying her involvement in the recent fracas in RSHA? She said she was in China, yes she was we agree. But her brother said he is fighting Amaechi because he insulted PEJ, Evans' Jesus Christ on earth. Has she called her brother to order? Has she distanced herself from her brother's attempt to impeach the speaker and gov with just 5 members of the house? Because of the fracas, someone would have died. If Chinda had died, Chidi Lloyd will be quilty of murder, or manslaughter but his blood would have been on PEJ because she is the remote cause of the fracas and the 5 members were only playing out her script.
Has PEJ been a good mother to the nation? NO! If she is a mother of the nation as she claims, she will see everything wrong with Wike carrying his GDI youths to pelt stones at Northern govs who were in Rivers. Those write-ups on the placards, do they foster unity and oneness? I make bold to say, without apologies that PEJ has been a very bad mother. A good mother will not encourage any of her children to fight the other, while denying it. A good mother would be truthful, genuinely ensue peace among her children who are fighting. A good mother will not go all out to bring down any of her children. I don't know of any good mother who will hate one child so much, no matter how stubborn that child is.
PEJ has vowed she must remove Amaechi as Gov before 2015, she has a good ally in Wike who also wants Amaechi out to pave way for his own guber ambition. Is Amaechi a saint? NO. They say he is arrogant, I don't know about that. But if we want go round killing and destroying all the arrogant people in the world, I don't know how many people would left on the earth. Is Amaechi stubborn? Yes he is. We have seen this in how he has handled the UST issue and a few others. But are those impeachable offences? NO. Has Amaechi performed as a gov? YES, in education, health, roads, human development. The Okrikans she claimed to be defending, have they benefited from his govt? YES. Amaechi built 5 model health centers, schools and a ring road. A number of Okrika indigenes have benefited from RSSDA overseas scholarship, and so on and so forth. There is a new road to Ogu constructed by Amaechi, there is a new road and bridge to Bolo and Wakama constructed by Amaechi. Ogu/Bolo happens to be the constituency represented by Evans Bipi. What has she as a first lady, done to better the lives of her people.

OBJ fought govs but he was truthful. He never hid his dislike for anyone. PEJ, ably supported by her husband want to remove Amaechi for whatever reasons, yet they lie blatantly about it. Why redeploy the JTF from the govt house immediately after the assembly fracas? Why deploy policemen and security men to Govt house and lodge without informing the gov and allowing his input as is the usually the case? Do they want to kill him? Or maybe render him defenseless during their next attack. PEJ said there will be peace in Rivers, but I guess she was saying in her heart after she has removed Amaechi.
We have seen bloodshed and insecurity in this state, we now enjoy peace. Please madam first lady, we do not want to go back that era. You can remain in Aso rock for as long as you want, but please allow us to enjoy peace in Rivers. Tell your brother Bipi and Wike to leave Amaechi alone. God is watching you, you are just a mere human. God did not spare your life for you to create problems in Rivers state, but according to you to help the poor. There are so many poor people that need your help. It is God that pulls down and raises up, allow God and the law to deal with Amaechi. Do not make yourself a terror, one day you too will leave that place just like you said and what legacy would you have left behind for your people?

I have said my own.

Both the pro- and anti-Amaechi groups have the right to protest and even throw stones. NO LONG TIN: Rubbish!!! So its GEJ's fault that River's people decide to protest against Ameachi, but when pro-Ameachi supporters protest (even without the 'Police permission' as required by law) - its the people of Rivers talking. SMH

I think the opposition party are just trying to distract/confuse Nigerians on the issue, i keep saying i don't know of anyone that lives in Rivers that supports Ameachi (they all say he dug his own grave), So when they protest "peacefully" they were sent by GEJhuh

We shouldn't follow the band-wagon of ACN/APC and blame GEJ for everything that happens even in our states, ACN blames GEJ for NGF crises, BOkoHaram, Bamidele's decision to run for gorvernor, APC unable to register their party, Tinubu's daughters position as Iya-Oloja etc, why can't we put the blame on the people involved and not blame it on GEJ or the 'Will of God'.

The one way dey pain me pass na Tinubu/ACN, if someone in Lagos ACN decide to run for the governorship election in 2015 against Tinubu's (dictatorial) plan/wish he would blame it on PDP
Please stop spreading falsehood. Majority of Rivers people are solidly behind Amaechi. Not everybody has lost the sense of reasoning. Those people protesting were GDI, Wike's political outfit. You people can say all you want about Amaechi, but the truth will definitely prevail and history will judge him as one of the best governors to rule Rivers. One thing you should tell your paymaster Wike is that he can't fight Amaechi like this and make it politically. Amaechi may seem helpless now, you can tell all the lies you can about him, you can oppress him with all federal apparatus but he will come out victorious. He has gone thru this path before. As for GEJ/ PEJ and Wike, what they are sowing they will definitely reap a hundredfold.

PHOTONEWS: Anti-Amaechi Protesters Storm Port Harcourt Airport; Attack Northern Governors Visiting Rivers
Posted: July 16, 2013 - 14:20

Anti-Amaechi protesters led by Samuel Nwanosike(aka Ishi) a well-known acolyte of the deputy minister of education, Nyesom Wike stormed the Port Harcourt International airport earlier today.

The angry mob carrying placards prevented four northern governors on a solidarity visit with Governor Rotimi Amaechi from entering the city for close to two hours until the police security was reinforced.

As the governors left the airport huddled in one car, the mob threw stones, bottled water and sticks damaging one of the cars in the governors' convoy.

Mr. Nwanosike(aka Ishi) presence at the venue of today's protest puts a lie to feeble denial by President Jonathan, and his wife that they hand no hand in the crisis bedeviling the state. Mr. Ishi was part of the delegation of a faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers that visited

President Jonathan at the Aso Rock Villa some two weeks ago.Anti-Amaechi protesters stone Northern governors on solidarity visit to Rivers-PREMIUM TIMES
By Abdulrahman Abdulmalik

Protesters, believed to be acting at the behest of people opposed to Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, on Tuesday pelted the motorcade of four northern governors who are currently on a solidarity visit to Port Harcourt.

The protesters had besieged the airport shortly before the arrival of Governors Murtala Nyako (Adamawa), Sule Lamido (Jigawa) and Rabiu Kwankwaso (Kano) at the Port Harcourt International Airport.

Chanting anti-Amaechi slogans, the protesters berated the governors for intervening in Rivers State’s internal crisis.

The three governors, our sources say, however remained at the VIP Lounge of the airport for about an hour waiting for Niger State Governor, Babangida Aliyu, to arrive.

After Governor Aliyu arrived, the governors drove out of the airport in a waiting motorcade provided by their host. But as their cars drove out of the airport and headed towards the Rivers State Government House, the protesters became violent pelting the motorcade with stones, water bottles, sticks and other items.

However, the governors arrived the Government House safe, without any major incident, and are now holding a closed-door meeting with Mr. Amaechi.

The visiting governors have been firm supporters of the embattled Rivers governor. Insiders say they are visiting in the wake of the recent state-sponsored unrest, to which many commentators have pointed accusing fingers at federal authorities.

Wole Soyinka, Nobel Laureate and professor of literature, at a press conference in Lagos last week, cautioned Patience Jonathan, wife of President Jonathan, against invasively inserting herself in the politics of the state, and working secretly as matron to forces trying to unseat Mr. Amaechi and make the state ungovernable.

Mrs. Jonathan has denied the claims, drawing wide amusement when she described the Nobel Laureate as an “embarrassment.”

The Minister of State for Education, Nyesom Wike, also reportedly arrived Port Harcourt on Tuesday.

Mr. Wike, an indigene of Rivers State, has been accused of being an arrowhead of the anti-Amaechi group.

The Rivers State Governor has been having a running battle with the presidency over his stance on major public issues. He has since been suspended from the PDP.

The crisis in the state worsened last week when five state lawmakers, loyal to the presidency, attempted to impeach the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly. The speaker and 26 other lawmakers are loyal to Mr. Amaechi, the Chairman of the Nigeria Governors Forum. The violent crisis in the assembly was widely publicized on television and social media.

Mr. Amaechi has since called for the redeployment of the Rivers State Commissioner of Police who is accused of playing a partisan role in the crisis.

Efforts to reach the Rivers Information Commissioner, Ibim Semenitari, on the details of the governors’ visit have been unsuccessful as she is yet to answer our calls.

NO MATTER WHAT THEY DO, AMAECHI WILL COMPLETE HIS TENURE. THE MORE THEY FIGHT HIM, THE MORE THEY GO DOWN. I WONDER WHY PEOPLE WOULD BE SO CONSUMED WITH PASSION TO PULL DOWN THE OTHER BECAUSE THEY WANT TO CLIMB TO THE TOP. POWER BELONGS TO GOD, AND ONLY GOD KNOWS WHO WILL TAKE OVER FROM AMAECHI IN 2015 AS GOVERNOR. NYESOM WIKE MAY FIGHT AND STRUGGLE AS HARD AS HE CAN BECAUSE HE HAS THE BACKING OF THE PRESIDENT AND HIS WIFE, BUT ONE THING I KNOW HE CAN NEVER BE GOVERNOR OF RIVERS. HE IS PH AGAIN TODAY, HE WAS HERE ON SUNDAY. I KEEP WONDERING IF HE EVER CONCENTRATES TO DO HIS WORK AS MINISTER IN ABUJA.AS FOR GEJ AND HIS WIFE, THEY SHOULD KEEP FANNING THE EMBERS OF VIOLENCE IN RIVERS, ONE DAY THAT FLAME WOULD CONSUME THEM AS WELL.

2015: Jonathan seals deal with Muslim leaders

*President may dump Sambo for Yerima

By Jide Ajani

President Goodluck Jonathan may dump Vice President Namadi Sambo for the former Zamfara State governor, Senator Sani Ahmed Yerima, as his running mate for the 2015 presidential election, it was learnt at the weekend.

The President, who met with some Muslim scholars and leaders on his anticipated second term bid, was said to have been impressed by the senator’s role in facilitating the meeting between him and the Muslim leaders, who promised to mobilise support for him.

Interestingly, this is coming at a time when the Professor Ango Abdulahi’s Northern Elders Forum, NEF, has made it known that the North would not support President Jonathan’s second term bid.

Sources said that Yerima, an All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, directed his associate and deputy governor of Zamfara State, Ibrahim Wakala, who served under him as the Commissioner for Religious Affairs for eight years, to mobilise Muslim scholars to the Presidential Villa, Abuja, for the meeting.

Jonathan

Although the scholars were earlier scheduled to hold another meeting in Ibadan, Oyo State, for the purpose of forging unity among Muslim leaders, they abandon the Ibadan parley for the Aso Rock meeting, where the President solicited their support for his political aspiration.

The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Saa’d Abubakar, it was learnt, was not aware of the Abuja meeting.

Vice President Sambo and the National Security Adviser (NSA), Col. Sambo Dasuki (rtd), were said not to be part of the meeting.

A source very close to the meeting revealed that “in 2011, the President received bloc support of Christians because they were organised. He is trying to see how he can get the same support from Muslims in 2015. This is where Alhaji Sani Yerima came in.

“He convinced the President about his popularity among Muslim leaders throughout Nigeria.

“The former governor directed Wakala to act as the link between the Muslim scholars and the President, and to mobilise them to the meeting in Aso Rock where the President, Yerima, the Chief of Staff and Protocol Officer were present.

“There, Jonathan sought for their cooperation, which they promised to give”.

The source disclosed that, at the meeting, Jonathan promised to address the grievances of Muslims before the 2015 general election which includes appointing a Muslim minister from the South into the Federal Executive Council.

The source added. “The former governor also used the meeting to strike a deal with the President. Now, the President, apart from promising to make Yerima the Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT) during the next cabinet reshuffle, is considering making him his running mate in 2015, owing to his perceived influence among Nigerian Muslims. The President believes that he will be a better choice in this circumstance.

“In fact, at the end of the day, logistics support was reportedly provided for the leaders for taking time out to meet with Mr. President.

“Yerima”, Sunday Vanguard learnt, “then threw in another request, advising the President to sponsor them for the Umurah, the lesser hajj, so that they can pray for the actualisation of his ambition in the holy land”.

This request may not be strange as the Office of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria has been known to extend such favours to ‘Men of God’”

wirinet: You need to look at the script closer, Jonathan's fate is tied to amaechi. If it ends bad for amaechi, it will also end bad for Jonathan. Using Federal might unjustly against a governor will further alieniate the president from more pdp governors ( a lot of them will not come out openly now) and also alienate the president from the public - especially other regions outside the southwest and south south.

Gej and his acolytes cannot do anything to Amaechi unless he is impeached or killed, and impeachment is out of the question now. They have played their card and failed, it will be impossible for the 5 to impeach the speaker and Amaechi now.

GEJ is so predictable that you do not neef TB Joshua to predict what will happen next. The next move would be to expel the 27 lawmakers and amaechi and then declare their seats vacant claiming that they have lost their seats as a result of amendment of the 1999 constitution. And then immiediately arrest them and lock them up with the feeling that the case would drag on at the courts. But the suspension is still in court so Jonathan would have problems expelling and arresting amaechi.

I know things would get ugly as militants would be deployed by both sides.
Please tell him some truth. Amaechi has done his 2nd term. It is GEJ that is seriously desiring a 2nd term in office. Mr lastpope, we will still be here when the problems GEJ is causing will also engulf him

So, apparently, PDP can not help him with this. He can no longer manage his own state but he is thinking about managing Abuja. This is just a prove that pride goes before a fall. I can assure you, that since PDP suspended the other members, those 5 can legitimately impeach the government, cos I am very sure that the impeachment must have been communicated to the State chapter of PDP before it was authorized and the court will always respect the decision of the PDP State Chapter. Ama
echi needs to kneel down and beg, cos h

e made so many strategic enemies, from his own cousin he uprooted to his former allies.

Pride goes, fall comes! Hahahahahahaha

atlwireles: Then you don't understand what is happening in rivers state.
I fully understand. How many LGAs make up Ikwerre tribe? How many politicians are there and how many are against Amaechi? Even Ogbakor Ikwerre, the umbrella body of Ikwerre nationality has consistently declare their support for Amaechi.

slimghost: grin grin grin before nko?. But why involve Jonathan?
Because sorry say, GEJ is solidly behind this. Remember, those lawmakers along with Wike and some others visited GEJ just last week, and the purpose of their visit was Amaechi.
