Ojukwu the chicken ran away after boasting he would be the last soldier to carry a rifle in Biafra, throwing out children and relief officials from an aircraft bound for Gabon in the process and hiding in Cote d'Ivoire for 12 years.

The real hero was Philip Effiong who stood his ground, refused to run and put an end to the bloodshed, stating in his famous surrender speech that those who had made it difficult for negotiations to move on had quietly removed themselves from their midst. He ended up spending time in prison for his bravery.

Today the coward is celebrated (Ojukwu) while the real man and the real hero who saved millions more lives by taking a bold step of knowing when the situation was hopeless is forgotten. What an irony.

Thank you OP for reminding us.

Lol! The aim of this thread was to expose the hypocrisy of the Arewa-Oduanistans that shout one Nigeria, and to show that their love for one Nigeria is not based on patriotism or love for fellow countrymen, but on selfish, greedy and malicious agenda.
And also to expose the folly of Igbos who would join these Arewa-Oduanistans to shout one Nigeria.

I am a Student of history, I had no impression that Arewa-Oduanistans would concede to those demands, why should they? They'd rather secede from one Nigeria than concede those demands, they are into one Nigeria for those Particular gains, and the moment the gains are not there, one Nigeria would lose its attraction for them.

On your last point, I beg to differ. Was it a sign of weakness when Croatians decided they no longer want to share a nation with Serbians, was it a sign of weakness when Singapore decided she nolonger want to share a nation with Malaysians? How about Bangladesh and Pakistan?

Truth is that strange bed fellows are not meant to sleep together. Efforts wasted in playing cat and mouse game with hostile nations of Arewa-Oduanistan while struggling for the soul of a third world country like Nigeria, if well channeled by Biafrans, can be used to build a prosperous Biafran nation that can stand a chance of transiting from third world to first world country in a space of 70 - 100 years max.
And how many Croats living in Bosnia did the Serbians under Ratko Mladic and Radovan Karadzic slaughter? Did you even see these images from the Omarska concentration camp that guys like us were shown in 1993 by a young Christiane Amanpour reporting from Sarajevo?

Have you ever heard of the Prijedor Massacre? Read about this and see what the Serbs did to the Croats!

Did you hear of how 3,000 me and boys were separated from the women in Srebenica in 1995 and slaughtered in a town supposed to be a UN safe haven?

People come here and talk of war as if they have no heads. YouTube is there to teach many of you Biafran agitators lessons of history you were never privy to.

PoliticsRe: We Need Good Leadership In The SE Not Biafra. by stagger: 9:31pm On Nov 11, 2015
CrazyMan:
Its no longer news hearing the ongoing protests in various part of the SE by the IPOB youths. In as much as I'm of the SE extraction, I want my fellow South Easterners to be rational and objective in their thinking. Biafra shouldn't be our priority now.

The reasons why I'm of the opinion that Biafra shouldn't be our priority are:

1. Most powerful Igbos leaders are against it: Those of us with strong memories would agree with me that Nnamdi Kanu isn't the first person to follow this path.

Years ago during Obasanjo's administration, Mr Ralph Uwazurike the leader of MASSOB attempted something similar. What was the result...he spent years locked up in an underground cell, his members were jailed many are still in jail as we speak, some even lost their precious lives.

The then igbo leaders who even had the senate leadership then did nothing, why cos they weren't ready to relinquish their positions and Federal Government appointments for Uwazurike's movement.

If nothing was done by the SE leaders then, what makes the youths so certain that they'll lift a finger towards their course now considering the fact that most of our leaders are self centered?

2. Thousands and even millions of South Easterners are likely going to be plunged into the job market upon declaration of Biafra: Its most likely that if the biafran dream is actualized today, Igbos working in various Nigerian government parastatals across the federation would automatically loose their job. Starting from Igbos in the military (Army, Airforce and Navy), to Civil Service, to the Nigerian Police Force, NSCDC, Customs, Immigration, FRSC, EFCC, ICPC, The Ministry, Ministers and Senators from the biafran territory will no longer be recognized in the Nigerian Senate, ...etc.

Can we cope with that, noting that the current economy of some SE states isn't something to be proud about, and we can't even secure employment for those living there how much more when you have a mass exodus of people relocating home. How will they survive?

Germany requested for thousands of Syrian refugees because they have a very good economy to settle them in months.

We should understand that if Biafra is declared, a similar mass exodus would be experienced.

Question is do we have a plan to absorb the thousands who probably would be relieved of their duties by the Nigerian Federal Government into the biafran economy and create such parastatals for them with a short period of time so they can work and take care of their families?

These are questions we need to ask ourselves.

3. The SE is improvised: We deserve a good leadership in the SE not biafra: Currently, we lack good roads, we lack constant electricity, we lack well equipped government primary and secondary schools, we lack portable drinking water...etc. Why should secession be our priority?

Few months ago, Afikpo youths comprising of Amasiri, Edda, Uwanna...etc blocked the roads to protest 2years of blackout in Afikpo. (The thread was even on Nairaland) I witnessed that protest live cos I was in Amasiri (Ebotrans park) en route Abakaliki and was delayed by the protesters for over an hour because the whole roads leading to Abakaliki were all blocked.

If Afikpo which is agurably the second largest town with the best economy in Ebonyi state after Abakaliki can be in darkness for 2years, then I think its time for us to go back to the drawing board. Cos we can't expect the biafra economy to survive in darkness.

We should also be bothered about the number of our educated minds finding their way to other geopolitical zones outside the SE in search of greener pastures. That's another indication to tell us that our economy needs serious rehabilitation.

If we're so bent on making biafra a reality then we should beginning to hold our leaders accountable to every promise they made to us during the past elections

Great nations are ruled by great minds not thieves, crooks and heartless looters camouflaging themselves as leaders to enrich their 20th generation.

It is time for the Igbo youths to come together and reverse the trend of ubiquitous leadership ravishing igbo land and put up a system that would enable the best of us emerge as leaders.

Our leaders are our problem, therefore we should direct our aggression towards them. Because even if the biafran dream becomes a reality, I doubt we would survive up to 3years considering the kind of crooks we have as leaders.

We should try to understand that Biafra isn't the solution to the problems we're currently facing in the SE. If we fail to address the issue of bad leadership then biafra will be a case of "Dead On Arrival".

4. Inability to stand Independently: A child only thinks of leaving his parents home to cater for himself when feels he's matured enough to survive independently.

If we're sincere enough, you'll all agree with me that most SE states cannot survive without FG allocation. Currently people in Ebony are experiencing serious hardship. No thanks to the Governor (Dave) who has slashed their salaries for no good reason. Imo state isn't left out of the suffering as state workers there are also experiencing hardship as well.

We have FG allocations yet our Governors cannot pay their workers, and cannot make the state habitable for its people by providing basic amenities. What do you think would happen if the allocation stops?

A few years back when Rochas announced that he wants all secondary schools in imo state to put on a particular school uniform. Yes it was a welcome development to reduce discrimination's amongst schools. But most people frowned at him when he contracted the job to a Chinese company.

Why would a governor contract a job to a Chinese company for billions of naira when there are so many indigenous companies in the SE that would do it for a far lesser amount?

If our leaders are interested in developing the SE why have they refused to invest in the numerous untapped resources in the SE?

Or are they scared that their successors would become the direct benefactors when they leave office?

Isn't that a myopic way of reasoning?

5. Dis-unity and inability to make accurate political calculations: From the 1999 till date, while people of other regions had managed to unite behind their candidate of choice in virtually all elections that had been held, we have always failed to do so.

I wasn't born during the civil war so I have very little knowledge about Ojukwu's acceptance by the general Igbo populace then.

But I remember vividly in 2003 how he (Ojukwu) lost that election in the SE to PDP's Obasanjo. It was recorded that Obasanjo had a thrilling 69.46% of votes from the SE. If we sincerely wanted power that year why didn't we rally round Ojukwu and give him our support like we did during the civil war?

Even when Alex Ekwueme contested the PDP primaries against Obasanjo the same year (2003). That attempt clearly outlined the dis unity amongst our leaders, because most PDP governors of SE states openly campaigned against their own son and supported the same Obsanjo.

Ever since I became knowledgeable of the events happening around me, I've never witnessed any election in Nigeria where we (Igbos) emphatically agreed and produced a candidate of the Igbo extraction acceptable to the whole nation and backed him aggressively. Just as President Buhari was backed by his kinsmen and practically other tribes.

In all the elections however from 1999-till date, we (Igbos) have failed to present a formidable candidate.

We don't even have a formidable political party to start with in the SE. The APGA which was created by Ojukwu has only the governorship seat in Anambra state to boast of.

The North and the SW easily formed an alliance because they had formidable parties they were all loyal to.

My point is that if we cannot determine our political relevance here in Nigeria, we'll keep having problems among ourselves should biafra become a reality.

Solution: We are all Nigerians so we should work towards the growth of this country. To my IPOB brothers, I will say sheath your swords. Don't waste your precious lives, MASSOB has followed that path, and today their members in jail are yet to get justice and those that lost their lives as a result of the struggle have been forgotten. If you die in this struggle you will be forgotten, your name wouldn't even be mentioned anywhere as a hero. Our leaders don't care, their kids are all abroad so when a stray bullet from a happy trigger policeman hits you, you're gone. No justice!

Anyi Ga-eme Mbaa Ka Ódi Ukwuu Ma Öbúrú Na Agbúrú Nille Ga Etikota Aka Rúó Órú Ma Gharakwa Ì Na-ata Ndi Ózó Uta Mgbe Ihe Mgberede Dakwasiri Anyi.E Kwenyerem Nigïria Ga Adikwa Ukwúú ÖZÖ.
Good post but will those youths marching and burning tires in SE towns learn anything? The SE does not even have a standing army, or even an air force. Who can ever win any modern warfare without air support? Some of these Biafra agitators should go to the TAC Makurdi and other Air Force formations all over the country to see the kinds of weapons they will come against should a secession be attempted.

That is when people will realize that the Fed Govt is not as broke as Buhari painted it and you will suddenly see weapons being bought in millions of dollars from out of nowhere.

Peopel should be wise oo!

BusinessRe: BVN- Temporary Restriction Of Your Account by stagger: 12:35pm On Nov 02, 2015
Barcholder:
The level of reasoning on here leaves a lot to be desired. Let me summarise in bullet points why its so important that everyone registers their BVN.

1. Nigeria does not have a Social Security (USA) or National Insurance (UK) system in place, which makes it impossible to identify people in Nigeria.

2. BVN registration is the way to remedy this situation, officially giving every Nigerian a formal identification

3. This will allow for a formal credit system to take hold in Nigeria, as lenders can officially verify each person, and create a formal credit referencing system in the process.

4. This will lead to a dramatic increase in bank lending, and also Foreign Direct Investment into the consumer financing space. All of which will dramatically improve the economy.

5. Nigeria is grappling with an insurgency problem, and it becomes possible to track and trace the financiers of Boko Haram if every single account has been formally identified. At the moment, money laundering in Nigeria is rife due to a lack of proper KYC on all account holders.

In short, it does nothing but highlight the stark ignorance and belligerence of Nigerians, that, after 18 months of regular reminders, as of today, more than 50% of all bank accounts have not had BVN verification. And yet, we are the very same people who scream every day about our lack of development.
So can you explain why after I submitted my BVN to be linked to my account weeks before now, I still got the restriction email? Does Nigeria look like it is ready for such advancements?

Look at the power sector. We had an audience with NERC recently in which the DG was defending the proposed tariff increases. We were told all sorts of good stuff when the unbundling process started some years back. Yet what we have is companies of govt cronies buying up facilities on credit, with no bank support, no credit support, and no financing. Now Nigerians are being asked to pay in advance for non-existent services, being told that there is no way the companies will make profit at present tariffs. Yet more than 80% of consumers are un-metered.

Mr Man, look around you. Does Nigeria look ready for the BVN? When did our own President register for his own BVN? When did the former President register his own BVN?

At least during the 1st 4 years of Amaechi's tenure as Rivers governor, he renovated several schools which were in such horrible state, even rats could not habitate in such places. The evidence is there for all to see and these were very tangible proofs.

We never got to any check point before the policeman said he's okay here that he should alight..

We dropped him, then we saw two bullets rolled down from underneath the front seat to my dads leg, we were not conscious, he was like what a pity this man forgot a bullet, we couldn't turn back and give the bullet back so he took it and threw it out from the window. We got to police checkpoint they stopped us, asked for some particulars, though our glass was tinted they asked for that too, the man checking the particulars insisted it was a stop and search we should come down, then I started thanking God that what if we never found the bullet..

They searched and searched and found nothing they made a signal and one guy went a feet ahead to make a call, came back annoyed then my dad knew what was going on, I'm pretty sure he never thought of the bullet then he said haven't you searched enough and then they let us go.. BusinessRe: The Highly Lucrative Lpg/cooking Gas Station Business by stagger: 1:18pm On Oct 11, 2015
johnstin:
My face contorts into a frown whenever I stumble on threads where investors with a substantial amount of money are advised to invest in low-yielding or outrightly bad businesses.

As an enterpreneur who possesses a fairly rich repertoire of investment information and, one who has made a foray into several businesses, I can confidently declare that the LPG/Cooking Gas Station/plant business is one of the most lucrative businesses in Nigeria- more lucrative than having a Filling Station (Petrol Station).

Unfortunately, most people think you need several millions of naira to set up a Gas Station/Plant.
While a Mini-Plant (5 Ton Capacity) gulps at least 5 Million Naira to set up, you can be the happy owner of a 2.5 Ton Gas station with about 3.25 Million Naira only.

And what can be more irresistible; you can recoup your investment in a year or less, if your station is sited in a residenial area with a sizeable middle-class population.

To highlight how lucrative the business is, a Gas Plant (name witheld for security reasons- armed robbers, scammers and kidnappers) exhausted its 20 Ton transport tank within two days during the last gas scarcity period, raking in profit in excess of 600, 000 Naira.

For those who are wary of the danger of fire outbreaks at the station, let me allay your fears by stating that it is quite hard for a gas station to be engulfed in flames, if the basic safety principles are adhered to.
I deal with gas everyday at the plant and can safely say that gas, if handled properly, will not 'misbehave'.

I challenge anyone interested in investing in the fast growing LPG industry to get into the 'field' to conduct their individual research in order to verify or shoot down my claims.

And just in case you need LPG/cooking gas tanks of any capacity or need to construct a Standard Gas Station at an affordable cost, please don't hesitate to contact Avogadro Gas Services.

Thank you
There is one that is located not too far from my house. Not close to any residential areas, but on a single plot of land in my estate. I once went there to fill up and decided to spend some time there as they went to get the nozzle for my cylinder. Not less than 10 people filled their gas there in the 30 minutes I was there.

The business is lucrative.

There are always people in this world whose business is to pull others down. If you want to prove a business, why not go into it with small money and test it for yourself instead of running up and down and shouting scam?

There is a thread here where I was challenged to show my earnings after a comment I made. When I showed the screen shot as well as a picture with me carrying raw dollars, others said: how can a Nigerian be paid such money by foreigners? Value knows no nationality.

Personally I am making arrangements to test this business but I am doing it sensibly. I will set up a full profile with the NEPC and then start sourcing buyers for the product from abroad. Then I will come back here to state whether the business is real or fake.

I have learnt not to criticize commodity business people after I saw a woman who sells ogbono in my village building a three storey building with the proceeds of her business in my state capital; something I saw physically and not tales by moonlight.

Can you not see from the figures that the so-called "subside payments" were simply kickbacks arranged by the NNPC, PPPRA and the Petroleum Minister? How can you explain that subsidy payments have been cut by almost 2/3rds and yet the Naira is even more devalued than it was months ago?

Diksin, you need to man up and face your destroyed destiny before it is too late.

He is not a bigot. The factionalized tussle between Rev (Prof) Paul Emeka and Rev Okoroafor over the leadership of the Assemblies of God Church in Nigeria is a case well known to those who have followed it. They are now at the Supreme Court. Some months back, a skirmish broke out in a parish in Enugu when it was alleged that two pastors, one for Prof Emeka and the other with allegiance to Rev Okoroafor, tried holding two rival services in the same venue and violence erupted.

The issue is tearing the church apart all over the country and so the governor has had to step in to avert breakdown of law and order. This is Northern Nigeria. In the South, such skirmishes can go unnoticed and will die down. In the North, hoodlums can easily take over the situation and before you know it, it assumes religious dimensions which could get out of hand.
