Oluwa gbogun ti awon bandits, terrorists and their sponsors, to gbogun ti Ijo re, ni Oruko Jesu. Let their ways be slippery. Let the angels of the Lord pursue them. Let them fall into the pits they have dug. They will cry for help and there'll be none to deliver them, even to The Lord but The Lord will not hear them. I decree this, in Jesus Precious Name.

Personally i think the essence of this thread is to suggest that the organisers should have chosen people who know about music and not just by popularity or fame or whether or not their songs trended...

Take Cobhams for example, that guy knows a lot about music (popularity aside).

Another splendid example would be Timi Dakolo, that's another person that knows about music, even Waje, Chidinma Ekele, Chike or Praiz are better candidates than the lot out there on that stage...and there are many others like them who are even better than those i suggested..

Hopefully they learn from this and do better in their selection of judges when the show goes live.
Hopefully, this gets to them before the main show begins.

Wow!! Your writing skill is top notch, I read this post more than three times just admiring your writing. I can recall while in high school I go everywhere with a dictionary, always trying to learn new words so I can speak and write like Sole Soyinka. But unfortunately I could not go any further than High school because life and chance happens to us all, we cannot dictate what fate will dish to us. Please if you won't mind I will like to know if you are just gifted with this skill or it is through learning you developed such powerful diction. Because I will love to train my kids to have such great command of the English language, thank you.
Thanks for the kind words. English isn't my first language so I won't say its a gift. The answer is learning and anyone who's determined can learn to read and write well. Blessings.

I watched an episode where a young lady in red did her performance and they ran her down, and terribly criticized her and made her feel less than a human and incapable. She started pleading for a second chance till the extent of bursting into tears that she had to resign from her job to pursue music.

I felt terribly sad by these set of inhumane folks acting as judge who are suppose to judge and encourage people to bring out the best in them doing the opposite of that.
I remember that scene. They all walked out on the lady.

Stancydg@ God bless you for bringing up this topic , when I saw these judges, I asked myself if there are no good music teachers in Nigeria better than Sheyi shay and Sose, I don't know much about Obi Asika. Why is Sheyi shay sounding too harsh to the contestants in stead of encouraging them. I noticed that Sose takes major decisions on whom to give golden ticket or not. Please next time judges should not sit together and should not talk to the contestants, they should only give points by pressing a button that will display how they voted to the viewers and they should also write down their observations for the music teachers to note and also display it to the viewers too.

This is my personal observation/opinion.
Nice suggestions. Hope the organisers take note.

A video of the event would make more sense. I have no idea what I should get triggered over. As usual, Nigerians are not watching this show nor The Voice. If it was a three lettered twenty-four hour show, the front page would receive at least eight updates daily. We're going to the third week of both talent shows and only one update has smelt front page so far.
Wanted to put up a you tube link but can't even upload at the moment cos of the app requesting an update that's simply not going through on the Play Store. Will see if I can get that guy's audition link from their site.

The above mentioned music reality show currently running on DSTV and GOTV platforms may likely be the "wackiest" (for want of words) music reality show in recent times going by the quality of opinions thus far by the jury, made up of a 3man panel of Obi Asika; a Record Label Exec, Seyi Shay; a perpetual upcoming artiste going by the unpopularity of most, if not all her songs and DJ Sose; who at best is skillful at selecting songs that'll mostly appeal to club audiences.

One would have thought the record label executive in the person of Asika, who ordinarily should have been exposed to artistes of various kinds, will as a father figure, be in full control of the selection process, by way of influencing the opinions of the others even though the antecedents of past judges on the show clearly sets a pace for divergence in opinions that in the end, engenders a robust decision for or against the candidates. This is terribly in deficit this time on the show, as as much as a snarl from the perpetual upcoming artiste is enough influence of the opinions of two supposedly mature and independently minded men. Sose even managed to take his obvious lack of knowledge of music and consequently, a lack of sound judgement to annoying levels by always concurring to whatever Seyi Shay breathes, despite his body language telling otherwise.

All of the above is obvious in the audition of the young music producer, whose image you'll find attached to this post. I can bet that IK, the show host was shell shocked that the young man had to be turned down for no reasonable point, except for displaying his musical dexterity. If that's a crime, then pray tell me what Idols is all about?

I was part of the very first Idol show in Nigeria that produced the likes of Timi Dakolo and Omawunmi and what I can clearly remember is that singing foreign songs or even displaying your vocal dexterity wasn't a crime. If it was compulsory for candidates to do local pangolo songs for the show to be seen as "Nigerian Idol", like Miss Shay foolishly posits, then I dare the show organisers to switch the nomenclature to "Naija Oosa/Ojuju etc" and compel the judges to speak Yoruba, Hausa and Igbo.

Besides, in the first Idol show in Nigeria, the jury made up of seasoned music industry legend like Dede Mabiaku, Radio Joc; Dan Foster and a Ghanian lady popularly referred to as "It's not werking for me" had their independent opinions of the candidates even though one out of the trio always played the devil's advocate.

Question now is; who the hell is the devil's advocate that'll ensure a robust decision making process in the ongoing Idol show, when from all we see, all trio are sleeping with their heads in the same directionhuh??

Reason the current panel needs to be disbanded, asides the joke Seyi Shay has made of the show by unprofessionally making mockery of young chaps she is meant to encourage, thereby wreaking psychological damages that may be indelible in the lives of the up and coming generation.

PS: I don't know the guy being auditioned in the attached pictures as I am speaking for countless others that are in my opinion, obviously far ahead of the judges musically, but were turned down.

None up till now has disproved with any empirical argument and alternative stats based on demographics. They don't even have an idea how far the Gospel has gone. Not everyone is unbelieving as you. Believe it or not, the Church is marching on and nothing the powerless idiot called devil can use his twitter and NL warriors to do, that'll stop it. ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!

There's more than enough tech to pull that number of views and C.E is big enough to have access to what the jobless trolls can't in a billion lifetimes. Its easy to believe their pangolo musicians hit 10m views/followers even when its one person mistakenly clicking more than twice and the followers are fake but difficult to accept when the church makes progress. Na so e go dey do una like film. That's the wonders that Jesus Christ promised will follow His Church.

Better believe and accept Jesus into your life before reality dawns. Jesus is the WAY, THE TRUTH AND THE LIFE and its not a matter of religion.

You need to marry your theology with the Lord's prayer.
To establish the kingdom of God on earth as it is in heaven.
Does the kingdom you see presently resemble what the kingdom of heaven was described to look like?

Now if the Bible says a Christian can no longer sin. That would be great. Cos apparently a lot of verses in the new testament would be redundant and pointless.

What's the point of Galatians 5:16-21 when a Christian can no longer sin?

16 I say then: (U)Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. 17 For (V)the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, (W)so that you do not do the things that you wish. 18 But (X)if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.

19 Now (Y)the works of the flesh are evident, which are: [d]adultery, [e]fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, 21 envy, [f]murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that (Z)those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

Whats the point of Revelations 3 & 4 where God addresses the 7 churches judging them according to their works?

Whats the point of Revelations 21:7-8 if a Christian can no longer sin?

He who overcomes [d]shall inherit all things, and (O)I will be his God and he shall be My son. 8 (P)But the cowardly, [e]unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in (Q)the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.”
May the Lord remove the veil over your eyes so that you can clearly decipher. You mix so many things up. In the same Gal 5 you quoted, verse 18 tells you how different you are from those earlier described but still couldn't get it. Why do you think the author had to state that "If you're led by the Spirit, YOU'RE NOT UNDER THE LAW?

Always study and meditate in context, so you can distinguish when scripture is referring to the lifestyle of sinners and also stating the reality of the New Life in Christ. Also, there are times when the old testament life is also being referred to in the new. Most times, a picture of what it was like has to be painted so that those who are in the babyhood stage can grow up and take their glorious inheritance.

My advice, meditate on all those scriptures again, slowly. I pray the Holy Spirit helps you too.

There is something wrong with the black race. We have the richest pastors, and yet the poorest people.

Oyedepo is part of the problem of this country. He does not have the will to make the country a better place. If poverty rate is low, how many people will go to church?

Because he knows that if the country gets better, he will not have so many sheeples to sell hope to.

Imagine that Nigeria has low unemployment and low poverty rate, how many people will want to go to church?

People will still be religious, but how many people will want to go and be listening to one motivational speaker calling himself pastor?
So, people have stopped going to church in your almighty America abi? Warped logic

Thanks for confirming exactly what I said.

As long as you're in right standing with God by believing in God and Jesus Christ, you are righteousness and can no longer commit any sin.

This is the gospel that has destroyed not only Nigeria but the world at large.

When Christians believe they can get away with any sin, tell me why we should expect Christians not to steal, lie, fornicate, commit adultery, and commit every evil even unbelievers won't?
It is only those whose eyes are veiled by the god of this world that'll interpret such good news that The Lord Himself commanded to be preached throughout the world as a licence to sin, instead of the Power of God to salvation to the Jews first and then, the Gentiles. How on earth can a man share the divine nature with God and still be subject to iniquity? I quoted the scriptures or are you saying the Word of God is untrue? Please back up your belief that Christians should continue to struggle not to sin by trying to observe the laws you listed, with the Word of God or are you just following what they told you since birth?

For your information, Col3:3 says it already of the believer; For [as far as this world is concerned] you have died, and your [new, real] life is hidden with Christ in God. The believer is dead to sin and it can't have dominion over him. The righteousness of God confers a supernatural nature on the believer. That nature doesn't even know what sin is all about. Its your "homo sapienic" nature that has been sin programmed and that's why it is subject to it. Indeed it can't please God even if it tried. Check this out in Rom 7 from verse 4.

" Likewise, my brethren, you have undergone death as to the Law through the [crucified] body of Christ, so that now you may belong to Another, to Him Who was raised from the dead in order that we may bear fruit for God.

5 When we were living in the flesh (mere physical lives), the sinful passions that were awakened and aroused up by [what] the Law [makes sin] were constantly operating in our natural powers (in our bodily organs, in the sensitive appetites and wills of the flesh), so that we bore fruit for death.

6 But now we are discharged from the Law and have terminated all intercourse with it, having died to what once restrained and held us captive. So now we serve not under [obedience to] the old code of written regulations, but [under obedience to the promptings] of the Spirit in newness [of life].

7 What then do we conclude? Is the Law identical with sin? Certainly not! Nevertheless, if it had not been for the Law, I should not have recognized sin or have known its meaning. [For instance] I would not have known about covetousness [would have had no consciousness of sin or sense of guilt] if the Law had not [repeatedly] said, You shall not covet and have an evil desire [for one thing and another].

8 But sin, finding opportunity in the commandment [to express itself], got a hold on me and aroused and stimulated all kinds of forbidden desires (lust, covetousness). For without the Law sin is dead [the sense of it is inactive and a lifeless thing].

9 Once I was alive, but quite apart from and unconscious of the Law. But when the commandment came, sin lived again and I died (was sentenced by the Law to death).(Study and meditate on the rest of the chapter into the next one)

The earlier you believed God's Word, the better for you. When you accept God's free gift of righteousness as against your self effort, you'll find out that you'll stop being so conscious of sin as to be able to list it out the way you did previously on this thread. Rather, you'll start being righteousness conscious and doing right will be natural with you because what's right and how to do it will be engraved on your heart, not on those tablets of stones.

Get it right now, NOT EVERYONE IS STRUGGLING WITH SIN THE WAY YOU DO. You can free yourself. You know what to do. Be born again!
Christianity EtcRe: Oyedepo: Why Nigeria Has Not Changed For Better by stancydg: 2:33pm On Mar 14, 2021
Myer:
Righteousness simply put is doing what is right.

Prosperity gospel is simply preaching the gospel for gain. 1 Timothy 6 expounds more on this.
My friend, that's a lame definition of righteousness. Righteousness means right standing with God. The state of being seen by God to be correct. Now, that tells you God is the Judge of that and is solely dependent on what He Says is correct or incorrect.

That leads you to the topic; The Righteousness of God, in other words, the Rightness of God. Now, the Rightness of God IS NOT A STATE OF CORRECTNESS OF THINGS BUT A POWER. It means God's Supernatural Ability to be right/correct. That is independent of what any creature thinks. For instance, if God says a car is a tree, He is Right/Correct because the car becomes a tree. Rightness is what God says it is because as the scripture has said, IT IS IMPOSSIBLE FOR GOD TO LIE.

So, even if what God says in human terms seems to be a lie, IT BECOMES THE TRUTH. God is truth. His Word is truth. Let GOD BE TRUE and all men liars. In the case of Abraham, God called him a father of many nations. In the natural, logical sense, that statement was a lie, but what did Abraham become? That's the reason it was said that "Abraham BELIEVED God and it was accounted/reckoned/recorded to him AS RIGHTEOUSNESS/RIGHT STANDING WITH GOD.

So you see, for simply believing God, the state of being correct/right or right standing with God was TRANSFERRED TO HIS ACCOUNT/GIVEN AS A GIFT TO ABRAHAM.

Therefore, contrary to your definition, righteousness which is right standing with God can't be attained by just doing what's right or following some moral routine. It can only be gotten as a GIFT from God. That's why Jesus Christ emphasized in John3 to that pharisee, who had kept all the moral rules/routine that HE'S GOT TO BE BORN A(SECOND TIME)GAIN.

That second birth comes by BELIEVING GOD...that's believing the Lord Jesus Christ in your heart and confessing same with your mouth..."for with the heart, MAN BELIEVETH UNTO RIGHTEOUSNESS, and with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation. Rom 10:10 The Amplified puts it this way; " For with the heart a person believes (adheres to, trusts in, and relies on Christ) and so is justified (declared righteous, acceptable to God), and with the mouth he confesses (declares openly and speaks out freely his faith) and confirms [his] salvation."

When you believe, righteousness is given to you as a gift and you'd naturally produce good works or the things God considers right/correct because rightness is exclusively God's prerogative.

And who told you that his church members can't afford it?
Don't mind them. They have no idea the wealth is in the hands of the church now. Those days of "as poor as a church rat" is gone for good. Most Christians who know their inheritance and follow Holy Spirit inspired instructions are having a good life. The low lifes out there refusing to come in think everyone is having same experience with them. Far from the truth. My advice is for them to come in, taste and see that "The Lord is good". Despite the economies of the nations in which believers reside, we are always experiencing the supernatural provisions of God's Kingdom that we actually belong to. We are here in this world but we are not of this world. We are from a Higher Kingdom. We are of God. 1John 4:4 tells us, Little children...Ye are of God(meaning you belong to God) and you have defeated/overcome them...the agents of the anti christ, because, greater is He that's in you, than he that's in the world.

Half of the people wanting free education by these churches don't even attend the church.
A close friend of mine was mad when his daughter was about going to university, because he couldn't afford the tuition for covenant. It was about 750K per session or so.
He started ranting about members not able to afford it.
I asked him if he was a member, he said no.
So why are you angry Mr man?
This was a man who we laugh about never paying tithes. He has never given more than 200 naira as offering.
He didnt want any govt uni for his child because of strikes and safety issues.
I had to ask why he is angry about this? You're not a member, you don't contribute tithes either.
Why are you angry then?
His child went to another private uni which was cheaper though.
This gave me an insight on the Nigerian mentality and freebies. We all want quality for nothing.
Faith based schools abroad are some of the most expensive. Their ratings are usually amongst the top ones too, so their quality is usually good.
Their workers don't work for free either, so why the expectation of it being free or next to nothing? That will only compromise standard imo.
You nailed it. The stupidity of folks against the church is simply unfathomable. Let them continue. It hasn't achieved anything thus far. Those who came with accusations, attacks here and there have been disgraced over the years. I like the MOG's. They focus. I once saw a thread created against a particular church on NL that lasted over 12years. Can you beat that? Yet, that same church continues to make undeniable impact till date. Jesus Christ already decreed it; the gates of hell can't prevail.
