APC has turned government in Nigeria into traditional institution
No. The governor is being realistic by reducing number work days and work load by 40%. It is only a matter of time before he proposes a 40% pay reduction. Their effort has no bearing with their pay n it is natural they flow with the tide instead of harrassing the ship's captain.

you got it,nothing seems to be working in this dispensation...i got to town to get some stuff after a long while and was shocked,to say the least,at the astronomical rate of the prices of foodstuff..can you believe #500 can only get you 2 cups of rice!? I was at the mart the other day to get some nivea and nutriC and was taken aback at the new so high price. NutriC that sold for #175 per pack was marked #450! Can you beat that?! Worse off,i was deceived by the sudden regular power supply and decided to well, reactivate my rested gotv @ a #1,900...and enjoyed view for a day or so and darkness took over...i later found out it was nepa's usual stunt for distributing and at the same time, collecting their nepa bill and money...my gotv subscription has been burning up for nothing...for nothing. Its that bad. Survival is just by God's grace.
Thing are bad but not as bad as you potray here. Nutric-C has been selling for N250 per pack of 10 for over a year now. Why take it down to N175 to help exergerate the increase in price?

There has been this talk about a cabal hijacking the Presidency, a charge the Presidency has denied. We will like your thoughts on this?

Let me say straight away that whether one calls it a cabal or a mafia or some kind of cult or whatever, there is a group of people who are wielding power within the Presidency under Buhari. Whatever you say it is; it is and a lot worse. First, the most influential person in the Presidency today is one Mamman Daura whom as you know, is a nephew of the President. His father was Buhari’s elder brother. In addition, Mamman Daura was the one who single handedly brought up Abba Kyari, the current Chief of Staff to the President. In fact, Abba Kyari knows Mamman Daura more than he knows his own father. Next, the Personal Assistant to Buhari himself is the son of Mamman Daura, next is what they call SCOP, State Chief of Protocol, and is also a son-in-law to Mamman Daura because he is married to Mamman Daura’s daughter. Next, the Minister they unilaterally chose, against the interest of the party and against the wishes of Sokoto people, happens to be the daughter of the younger sister of Mamman Daura’s wife. Both of them are daughters of Sultan Dasuki, who was sacked by General Abacha. We have the Aide De Camp to Buhari himself, Colonel Abubakar. He is married to the granddaughter of one of Buhari’s elder sisters. Next we have the woman who represents Kaduna in the Federal Executive Council, she is a cousin to Kaduna State governor, Nasir el-Rufai. It is well known that el-Rufai is one of the closest governors to Muhammadu Buhari. Next, we have the Minister for the Federal Capital Territory. The Minister of the FCT is the man called Musa Bello, who used to be the Managing Director of the Northern Nigeria Development Corporation, which used to be the biggest holding company that belonged to all the northern states. His only qualification to be FCT minister is the fact that his father has been Buhari’s friend over the years. Now, there is a young man called Sabiu Yusuf, nicknamed Tunde – probably because of late General Tunde Idiagbon. He is another PA to President Buhari. He is also a grandson of another sister of Buhari. This is enough to prove to you that this is shamelessly the worst form of nepotism in the history of government in Nigeria. In fact, in the history of Africa, let me make bold to assert that I have never seen any level of nepotism that has equalled or surpassed this in my entire life – I am now in my 67th year. Another thing I also want you to know is that, Amina Zakari, who was and still a national commissioner in the Independent National Electoral Commission representing the entire seven states in the North-West. It is being claimed that Buhari knows nothing about her appointment (before he became President), it is a lie. When President Goodluck Jonathan was re-organising the INEC and he was bringing in Prof. Attahiru Jega, he reached out to Buhari and asked Buhari to nominate somebody from the North-West so that that person would be a national commissioner. Of all the people in the North-West, Buhari decided to nominate his own niece, the daughter of his elder sister- Amina Zakari. She has been there; when Jega left, Buhari was determined to make her chairman, it was because of the massive backlash that he dropped the idea like hot potatoes. As we are talking today, that woman is a national commissioner which means she is one of the principal election umpires. Throughout my reading of history, political science and social sciences generally, I have never heard of any dictator or any tyrant under any system of government whether totalitarian or fascist, appointing his own niece to conduct elections in which he was either a party or going to be a party to; Buhari has done that. The immediate younger brother to Amina Zakari is currently the Minister for Water Resources representing Jigawa State in the same Buhari government. In addition, even though they are from Kazaure, Kazaure is contiguous to Daura. The eldest sister of both of them is now the Commissioner for Education in the All Progressives Congress government in Jigawa State. If this is not nepotism, then I don’t know what is nepotism and anybody who has the guts, the brutal arrogance to appoint these relations not bothering about public opinion, about the sense of justice, about competence, then you can see that he has a very serious question to answer.
If true then I must say, even GEJ went beyond his village and LGA. I always had the knowlegde of the nepotism but not the to this extent.

G1gbolahan:
In all honesty, when an economy is as battered as Nigeria's, borrowing is very welcome. Nigeria's budget this year is based on so much loans. When you borrow to fund critical infrastructure like Aregbesola has been doing in Osun particularly with education and agriculture, you invest in your future. We take that hundred times over a governor who abandons his job because of economic conditions and goes about cutting ponmo
Your stùpídity appears to know no bound bros. So free food and money is now investment into the future. Instead of doing things that will improve IGR and then borrowing against projected IGR increase, the mentally lazy governor choose to borrow against projected earning that's largely dependent on oil price and FG sharing formula. That's like a son who decides to be borrowing against his father estate with the hope inheriting it and using it to offset his debt. If the father(FG) does not will that estate to the foolish son (Aregbe and your likes) then you get what is going on in Osun state now.
Oil money wasn't and still isn't guaranteed and so aregbe has no argument to borrow based on it.

I see nothing in borrowing to do capital projects. once the terms and conditions attached to the loan are favourable. Moreover there are some developed countries that borrowed to developed their territories too.
How is a loan that denies workers their future salaries 'favourable'? All these dull people parading around as NL are part of oup problem in Nigeria? How is cocoa yam and free money capital projects? Stupídíty seem cool with lots of you guys nowadays.

Good governance now includes borrowing into the next 30 years of the state's income to sponsor free cocoa yam and money scheme.
As long as we are divided along religious, tribal and political line, our leader will keep manipulating us to get away with their crimes.

Technological innovations were supposed to make things better, faster and cheaper.

In Nigeria, new products with almost the same capabilites as the previous products tends to be more expensive
It is not all technological innovations that come cheaper at the onset. Electric cars and LED bulbs are example of such. One factor that makes Nigerias own even more expensive is the fake products factor.

Helping a Nigerian these days is more difficult than grasping a shadow...An average Nigerian sees every situation as an opportunity to exploit people. Tell 3people from different countries the world will come to an end tomorrow, one of them will only think of selling all his properties(probably to have enough money to spend in the hereafter)...This one person must be the Nigerian. Its this bad!
I suspect the family of the Mayowa didn't understand how the donation thing works. Probably they were thinking excess funds would go to the fund raising agency for other people and decided to stick to the Mayowa figure alone. Change of plans could av been caused by cheaper or superior alternative. In all, God knows best.

By now Ogun should recognise Lagos is conjested and it is the choicest place for industrial investment. Ogun should be thinking of how to create industrial estate from where it can easily power industries.

I'm trying soo hard to refrain from calling u olodo.Young man up there is dishing out points to counter u and all u can come up wit is insults instead of superior argument. Please we need mature minds here who can stick to d topic wihtout insults.

Back to the topic, I agree partially with u OP. Partially bcuz states like Lagos can't generate IGR wise all the resources it needs to sustain a rapid growth in their economy. So they will have to borrow to finance them. The problem I will agree with Fayose is bcuz most states borrow for things that won't generate money to pay off the debt, leaving a huge burden on future generation.
If I get the bold part correctly, i beleive you are talking about the fact that infrastructural project often require substantial amount of money as mobilization fee to contractors which helps them meet targetted project completion date. This makes sense because the level of funding needed to kickstart often goes beyond what recurrent federal govt allocation can handle, thus the need to take medium term loans to help keep pace with the needs of the masses arises. My point of contention is the fact these project's completion date often don't go beyond 24months after the end of each administration. Why then do we have debts of 30-50 years?
The best approach is to have all states borrow based on their own IGR alone.
