Politics › Re: Okupe Offers To Assist Buhari’s Govt On Economy by Standing5(m): 10:07am On Jan 26, 2016
Bevista:
They criticize PMB for lacking economic acumen and yet they come up with horrendous economic recommendations.
---
(1) How does the president reduce recurrent expenditure by 50%? Is it by sacking 40% of its employees or by reducing salaries by 40% across board ?
(2) What is the implication of knocking off over N1.3tn from government spending in a depressed economy?
(3) According to Okukpe, cost of oil production is around $30pb. If the 2016 budget is predicated on $38pb, it implies that Nigeria was expecting oil revenue of ~N880b from $8pb profit. If we now use an estimate of $20pb as Okukpe advises, we will now be running an estimated loss $10pb, implying over N1tn being knocked off the budget again.
(4) Is he proposing a total budget of ~N4tn? If so, then kiss any economic growth in 2016 goodbye. In fact, expect a Recession.
---
In fairness to Okukpe, for once he sounded more patriotic and not like the usual broken record.
The dude is obviously confused. PDP govt was known for increasing recurrent bill without demanding a corresponding increase from input of the workforce. I suggest salaries by slashed by some 25-30% as most govt workers are in an empowerment scheme where their effort does not contribute to their process paying them. It will simply be a reverse of the Yar'adua's regime increase of pay for worker when excess oil money flowed in.
Politics › Re: Okupe Offers To Assist Buhari’s Govt On Economy by Standing5(m): 9:57am On Jan 26, 2016
The buhari govt is letting people like Okukpe score cheap points because of slackness from within it. What he said it right thing for the economy but he was part of PDP that did the opposite for years. Look at our oil refining process alone, while others built larger, and by extension, more effecient refinerx we were simply too disorganised to buiid same. Getting our oyel to market on average cost almost as much as what it is selling for. Very soon oil exploration sector will be shaken.

He should drop any slight idea of going to kill a high profile name and pinning it to Buhari if it exist in his camp.

PT: Why have you been frontal in your attacks on President Muhammadu Buhari and the Federal Government?

Fayose: You see, the power of Buhari is not more than to kill somebody. He can send soldiers to you to come and kill you but people will know that the killing is not normal. It must be a high-wired killing. I am not afraid of him. The power of Buhari is not more than you go and lock somebody up. I am not afraid of him. I am not in the calibre of politicians who are saying, ‘ah don’t let me die o! Don’t let my mother die o,! You don’t take the inheritance of your father if you are not sure you are ready to take it. I am not in that category. Most noble men today have gone underground for fear of the unknown. And in times like this, when you train a lion, when you keep a lion in your family house, those of you promoting that lion will end up in his stomach one day. The same thing we were telling Obasanjo that time. We said Obasanjo was a dictator. Obasanjo consumed most of them who were promoting him that time. I have never minced words, before the campaign...

zombie! Let buhari strengthened the institutions and stop the diversionary tactics of hyping d arrest of last admin stalwarts while corruption continue to grow as the economy suffers!
What is he going to strengthen institution with? Even at that, it is a gradual process and can't only probe or fix every weak-link in our institution in even a year. He has done well in going after the bulky and open doors through which corruption is being perpetrated. Your attempt to pressurize Buhari is an effort wrongly channelled.

Brilliant. This should make Front Page. In fact, this should be printed out and circulated to all homes in Nigeria. ASAP!
I recomend in addition to the above, that civic studies be re-introduced into educational system. The poster between you and I even thinks it is Buhari's fault already. Buhari didn't help us develope a taste for everything foreign like the article in focus has highlighted.

Dhtml stop derailing. I have twice had good use for stuff like these in real life as an admin. The first time it was join of two separate pictures file into a single one carry content of both side-by-side. I used a batch programming in Cmd to join about 17,000 of them. Even though it took me about a week or less to get it right. The batch script did the job in less than 10 min. With editors that's like 3 weeks work.
The second time was when i used combo of batch scripting and Windows task scheduler to wake up a VPN Tunnel periodically. It was sweet and efficient, i tell you.

@DanielTheGeek, nice works. I share similar passion but haven't gone open with mine. Keep it up.

Nigeria is not federal govt but, all tiers of govt. Until we look at things in a holistic manner we won't get there. That is why fiscal federalism is critical. Those yeye states premise viability as the basis of their creation but, 35/36 of them can't survive without running to abuja for money sharing.

At no time had nigeria the money to take Care of all our developmental needs. it only takes creative thoughts to keep the country going. Our problem is the misfortune of largely having the least amongst us as leaders across board. We have sacrifice competence and innovation for all manners of issues/creed that are slowdown on us like nepotism, regionalism, religious bigotry, class differential and all others.
Let us wake up and do things by merit while encouraging innovation and enterprise instead of a massive dependence on govt. No govt builds a nation rather the citizens do!
I agree on state, fiscal federalisw, and nation building above. We can't just build nation by wishing it. Monies have been stolen and should be recovered

you started like u have good grasp but, quickly went off by the over used lame line of 16yrs of waste. So Russia too had 3r0yrs of waste abi? Stop blame game and come up with solutions. It is actually the problem structurally basing our posterity on oil boom/doom. Apc is here let them solve the part of the problem they can then give way. Govt is a continuum but, apc is an error while the Sai baba chanters today are zombies!
Russia had good savings and invest in technological advancement that they are falling back to now. Nigeria saved and quickly deplete same via frivolous arms purchase, increase recurrent bills. among others.
