Please read this painful story as shared on Twitter by user based in Lagos, Damilola. In the list are the items a Lagos tailor demands from her apprentices before giving them their freedom. List is obviously more than what many Nigerian men pay as bride price. http://www.lailasblog.com/2017/04/see-outrageous-list-lagos-tailor.html

Nigerian transgender Noni Salma pictured below used to be a Lagos-based Nigerian entertainment journalist. Then he was known as Habeeb Babatunde Lawal. Not until he left Nigeria, became a filmmaker and transformed into a transgender, now known as Noni Salma Lawal. She has shared new photos and gushed about her joy at transitioning into womanhood. According to Noni, everyday she wakes up, she is grateful for seeing the light to her true self as a trans and for answering it. Noni wrote on her IG page: Trans day of visibility. Everyday I wake up, I am grateful for seeing the light and for answering it. For the gift of courage to be in spite of what was at stake. No one really fully understands like a trans person, the dysphoria and the disconnect between our true being and what the world thrusts on us. I remember the first two months of transition. Stepping out of the door was hard. Going out and facing the world was even harder. I was able to prevail and get to the point where I'm more comfortable. I don't hide my transness and I don't ever intend to. I am proud of my journey and my path to womanhood. Every time I see a trans person online or in person I feel this happiness. Because we aren't going to live low. We are living and living in bold colors. This is a journey of a lifetime and I'm glad to be living it. Thanks to the friends who support me, even the ones online. Your support and love is all the affirmation I need when it gets tough. And it does get tough. But it is worth it. Living my authentic self is worth it. #transdayofvisibility #transisbeautiful #girlslikeus # http://www.lailasblog.com/2017/04/nigerian-transgender-noni-salma-shares.html lalasticlala

A corp member serving in Rivers state, Okoroha Kingsley Chino, has shared a beautiful story of how he rewarded the Best Graduating Student at his Place of Primary Assignment. Read below: Meet Okoro Izuchukwu Gospel, the eventual winner of the laptop I had previously donated to be given to the best graduating ss3 student of GSSS Elekahia. He hails from Imo state Nigeria and aspires to become a lawyer. He was moved to tears as he never expected such prize for his diligence and hardwork. In a society where talentless people are celebrated, profanity is rewarded, nudity lauded, in a society where the winner of a math olympiad gets a mathset and some notebooks while a teenager skilled in the act of "Azontry" and "shokitude" gets a car as a reward, this gesture of mine was aimed at recognizing and giving honour to whom it is actually due... The hardworking ones with a zeal for academic excellence. http://www.lailasblog.com/2017/04/photo-corps-member-presents-laptop-to.html lalasticlala

Nollywood script writer, director & producer Chike Bryan Nnamani, a father of five, has died after he received a call from home while on his way to work, suddenly developed a stroke and died hours later after he was admitted at Lagos State Teaching hospital. Chike Bryan's colleague narrated what happened. Here's his story: I never knew we could be close; never expected to weep for a friend who turned out to be a buddy. A guy who held no grudge, malice or hate in his good heart against another. Today, he’s no more. His bit is done here on earth. I will always remember him. A guy I have worked so closely with in almost 10 months. Suddenly he disappear from my life. Death, O death, why? He woke up this morning hale and hearty. He had breakfast at a friend’s and was on his way to the office. As he was driving down in the friend’s car he received phone call from home about some happenings, there he lost his cool. Afterwards, the friend asked him to calm down no matter what but it was too late. My buddy, the one I call CBN, his initials, suddenly developed stroke, throwing up non stop in the friend’s car. Praying fervently for him, our friend made a turn and drove on neck break speed to his house where he picked his wife and rushed him to the hospital where he was admitted but later referred to to LASUTH in Ikeja. On getting to LASUTH, the wife was told the hospital could not admit him for lack of bed space. For almost 5 hours my buddy was hanging on to dear life without treatment. How callous can some medical personnel be! An emergency case was treated with so much nonchalance. So much grief, sorrow, and tears in his home. CBN left behind a young wife and 5 lovely kids. I pray God to give the family the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss. A Chelsea fan or better still, a lover of good football who doesn’t spare Arsenal and it’s gaffer when they slip in any match. A pal who has tried severally to convert me into being a member of the ‘blues’ family. So this great guy won’t be there to yab me week in week out about my dear own Arsenal. Perpetual light shine upon him O’ Lord. I shall truly miss you CBN. Sleep in the bosom of the Lord.Adieu Chike Bryan Nnamani. http://www.lailasblog.com/2017/03/nollywood-scriptwriter-suddenly-dies.html

Yesterday, Omoni Oboli was forced to cancel her Okafor Law movie premiere because of a court injunction. Sometime in September 2016, she was accused of copyright infringement for the Okafor's Law title she gave her movie, by a Canada based writer, Jude Idada. The Nollywood actress Omoni Oboli was also accused of stealing his story and idea for her new movie "Okafor's Law." Yesterday, an injunction was issued which prevented Omoni from premiering and releasing her Okafor law movie until the case which names Omoni Oboli along with Dioni Visions and Filmone Distribution as the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Defendants respectively is settled. Here is the moment Omoni broke down in tears and addressed her guests at the IMAX Cinema saying Okafor's Law script and movie were created '100 %' by her. "I'm so honoured that you're all here today, thank you so much. Thank you for honouring me, thank you for your support over the years, thank you for always being there when I call. It means so much to me, and I don't take it for granted. " "I was really looking forward to showing you the movie tonight. The movie screened at Toronto International Film Festival, Stockholm International Film Festival and in America, but all that is nothing if Nigerian people don't see it. " "Unfortunately, we can't show the film. At 5pm, we got an injunction from the court not to show this film. I'm sure some of you heard some allegation sometime ago, but, my story, my script, my movie, was written 100% by me. You can take that to the bank." "What anybody says, what anybody does, it's all a lie. I don't know why this is happening, I work hard. " "It's a shame that anybody would want to stop this. I mean, it has been a long process, we shot this movie last year, we have gone everywhere, we have put in so much money, publicity and everything, and some people are trying to stop it. " "God is on the throne and it's fine. It will all come out in the wash. This is not going to stop me, I'm going to keep pushing. " "I could have gone ahead to show this film today, but, I'm a law abiding citizen and I have to follow the law, unfortunately. "I believe that it is bullying, I believe that it is abuse of the law, and we are going to take this up. " http://www.lailasblog.com/2017/03/watch-omoni-oboli-break-down-in-tears.html https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=reB7yG9XdVE

A Kenyan woman has become an online sensation after she mistakenly posted a sexually explicit message on her WhatsApp prayer group. The woman, first name Jacinta, shocked members of the ‘Novena prayer group’ with her post that stated she was recruiting members for live group sex to be performed in front of a couple at a house party. The post indicated that the performer will be paid Sh5000 and shared the telephone number of a contact person. “Looking for 5 guys who are comfortable having live sex in frontof a couple, payment is 5k. Its more of a house party, interested parties should inbox this number ********* latest 9am,” the post read. One group member, irked by the post, asked fellow members to notify the lady that her requests did not correspond with the group. “Someone please call this lady…am not in a position to have this kind of a conversation,” On realizing her mistake, Jacinta quickly apologised for her post and urged the members to pray for the country. “Hey sorry group members this was wrong post plz. It was posted wrongly am sorry but let’s pray for our country plz.” “Please please am so sorry please.” Her regrets, however, did not deter group members from sharing screenshots of the WhatsApp chat on social media. http://www.lailasblog.com/2017/03/woman-causes-stirs-after-she-shared.html
