tctrills: Again, you have chosen verses that do not support your point in any way. Let's take a look at your logic. 1 Corinthians 3:22, you claim it excludes God but does it? When it specifically says All Things All things clearly include things that are not mentioned in the verse. All things mean nothing is excluded. your logic is inconsistent and contradictory. According to you "all things" means nothing is excluded. If I say, I give you my car, my house, and all things I owe. Would you say that I excluded my company just because I did not expressly mention it? Is my company not covered by the clause of all things? Sir, your logic isn't so right. Sons of God are given all things that their Father has, What does that make them? According to you if a man give everything that he owned it means there is no exception, it means including himself. Again, your argument using Colossians 1:16 is a bit shallow because the bible teaches that Christ was begotten of the Father so from reading the bible, we know he did not create the Father. But if the Bible did not teach that Christ was begotten of the Father, then one can make the argument you are trying to make. The teaching that Christ was begotten of the Father is a Clause to the verse you mentioned. So, that's not a very good example from you. see how stupid your logic is, you just contradicted yourself. Earlier on you said "All things" means without exception. Now you just contradicted yourself. What are you explaining since according to your dumb logic "all things" means without exceptions. So following your logic the all things in col include the father and christ. Simple. |

tctrills: None of the verses you states says that all things exclude God. Please provide the verse that says so and remember, we don't add or subtract from the bible. 1 Corinthians 3:22 Whether Paul, or Apollos, or Cephas, or the world, or life, or death, or things present, or things to come; all are yours; 3:23 And ye are Christ's; and Christ is God's. Don't you see that order of ownership, the church owns all things but christ owns the church and God owns christ, which automatically means christ and God are excluded from all things owned by the church. The verse you quoted is a very lazy attempt to prove your point. That verse only mentions few things they will inherit before repeating that all things are yours. Going by your flawed logic, since the verse did not expressly say that they inherit God, that means that they will equally not inherit any other item not specifically mentioned in the verse. But then the verse goes on to say, all things are yours. That practically covers everything. It is not a lazy attempt but a sound exegesis of scripture. You don't just pull up a single verse of scripture and misinterpret it. Let's see whose logic is flawed. Supposing according to you the word "all things" is aboslute let's apply your logic on the use of all things in other parts of the bible. Colossians 1:16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: By using your logic on all things be in absolute sense It would mean christ created God, right? Now whose logic is now flawed? Now, to the meaning of inheritance. Yes, an inheritance is given and God wants to give his children everything he has. Do you know why we are the sons of God? It's because we can become live him. That is his plan for us. In the bible we are commanded to be holy as our Father in heaven is. We are again commanded to be perfect as our Father in heaven is. His simple plan is to give us all that he has. That excludes God and christ. Sons of God become like God but don't become God. Jesus christ is not like God he is God, see the difference? |

tctrills: So Co heirs means we get to inherit what he inherits right? What did Christ inherit from the Father? Did he inherit everything? Revelation 21:7 "He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son. Shall we inherit everything the Father has? Do you even know the meaning of inheritance? You can can only inherit what is given to you, there is a glory given to Christ and there is glory he already possess as God. It is the gory the Father gave to him that he shares with the church. John 17:22 And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one: Rev 21:7 is referring to all things God created. Revelation 21:5 And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful. Colossians 1:16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: 1 Corinthians 3:21 Therefore let no man glory in men. For all things are yours; 3:22 Whether Paul, or Apollos, or Cephas, or the world, or life, or death, or things present, or things to come; all are yours; 3:23 And ye are Christ's; and Christ is God's. You can see that all things the church inherits exclude God himself hence they don't become God just as christ himself doesn't become God but Christ is already God from eternity he didn't inherit it. |

Daejumong: If you believe in God but don’t believe in Jesus , are you destined for Hell? What is the fate of Jews, Muslims, traditional worshippers,Buddhists and other religions?
The Jews believe in the God of Abraham,Moses and David but don’t believe in Jesus! Are they all destined for hell? Elijah and Abraham made heaven as Jews and not as Christians!
Even among Christians, there are so many divisions/factions and denominations with different beliefs about God and Jesus. Some of these denominations believe they are the only righteous ones going to heaven while others are going to hell!
At the end of the day, God is the final judge. Man and religion have differing opinions but God remains the final arbiter. ‘Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man’ (Eccl 12:13)
In conclusion, when Jesus was asked about the greatest commandment in Matt 22:36-40; Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.
Let peace reign and let’s stop fighting each other’s religion. Love God and love your neighbour, that is the ultimate divine instruction. All have sinned and come short of the glory of God. This include Abraham, Enoch etc. The whole human race has failed to meet God's demand as a result are all condemned to death. The only way to be saved is look to God for his salvation, that is what Abraham, Enoch, Noah etc did anyone irrespective of tribe look for God to save them would be saved. Jesus christ is God's salvation he became flesh, he is the one all who look for God was searching for. |

You used the word 'human body' to describe the Jesus physical body when he was on earth.
Now what is your issue with the word 'spirit body' as used to refer to 'spiritual body'?
Tell us the difference please
Does Jesus have a spiritual body or a physical body now? Answer the question without deflecting. First show me where it says spirit body? So when has the word spiritual become spirit? When paul referred to the believers as spiritual, was he saying they were spirit? 1 Corinthians 14:37 If any man think himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things that I write unto you are the commandments of the Lord. Galatians 6:1 Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted. So if Paul calling the believers spiritual does not mean they are spirits, how come you think spiritual body means spirit body? |

18 For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. The glory that Christians would partake of is the glory given to christ however there is the glory that christ shared with the father for all eternity. The glory that existed with God for all of eternity is the one he will not share with another, but the one given to christ in time he shared it with the church. |

DaddyCoool: Even whe clear Scripture is presented to them, they dance around it and never honestly consider it.
Let's put this debate to rest once and for all. The normal human inclination is NOT to complicated things, to go for the easier path. Hence our natural inclination is to say: "How can Christ be God? There is only one God!" The problem starts when you actually start reading and studying the Bible. As you immerse and really get to know the Bible, it will gradually dawn on you that Christ can't be anything but God!
That's why founders of groups like JW usually never went beyond high school. Or an uneducated person like prophet Muhammad. They can't handle that there is any complication to God. But real scholars must or they'd be lying to themselves!
Here are some things I posted previously:
There are quotations in the Bible both in support of, and seemingly NOT in support of deity of Christ. So we look at our practical life experiences:
God restored a Person from dead knowing fully well he'd be worshipped as God, and you don't think he approves of it? And it's been on for 2000+ years, and the church has only multiplied, prospered, and become stronger? You'd be implying God does not exist, or is powerless, or does not care! - and LordReed would heartily agree with you!
See, if this were 50 AD, we could be saying let's wait and see. And remember, nothing provokes the wrath of YHWH like trying to worship another alongside Him. Don't you think that for Him to resurrect a dead Person and allow His being worshipped as God for thousands of years says something about where He stands on the issue??!
Can't you see he can ONLY be God? God has no son or you'd be talking of wife, mother, etc (as in Roman gods). "Son of God" can only mean an extention of God (unlike, say, a prophet), a manifestation of God, God himself!
Don’t you think it is only God that could have restored a Person from all that (He was literally DEAD!) to a position of being worshipped as God, and that it would never have been possible if God had not approved of it, and definitely would not have lasted these thousands of years?
Matthew 28:19: Jesus commands His disciples to baptize "in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit."
2 Corinthians 13:14: Paul speaks of "the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit." |

Janosky: Very very correct. Stand out point:
We received what God gave Christ, John 17:5,22.
Does that make us God?
No nau.
Another question for Trinitarians desperately clinging to Colossians 2:9. According to Jesus Christ,@ John 17:7,What does Christ Jesus have by himself that Jesus did not receive?
Correct Answer: as a matter of fact, John 17:7,Christ owns nothing by himself. Absolutely nothing!
Colossians 1:19 & Colossians 2:9 = John 17:5,22. You belong to who owns you, 1 Corinthians 3:23. Jesus Christ did not belong to himself neither do you mortals. Jesus Christ was given the fullness of divine nature (also given to the disciples @ John 17:22/ 2 Peter 1:4). Jesus is not God Almighty.
End of story. The fellow you quoted is stammering and shamelessly lying up there. Atleast you recognized that Jesus has the fulness of the divine nature even though you don't know the implications of this. So if Jesus has the fulness of divine (God) nature what does that make Jesus? If an animal has the full nature of a lion, doesn't that make that animal a lion? So if Jesus has the fulness of divine (God) nature what does that make Jesus? |

gohf: Even though I am not JWs, let me address this for the sake for my brothers and sisters in the true body of Christ so they don't be deceived.
Colossians:2:9 For in Christ there is all of God in a human body;
Now there's only one mention of the Greek word theotetos but what they translate is theotes, common sense states both are not the same word, why not translate the main word. I agree it's not the same word theias which defined as divine, deity, divinity, Godlike. It even goes more to show that theotetos probably has a meaning that wasn't properly translated to English. So instead of debating Greek, let's look at all of what is written haha you just exposed yourself, you want to dodge the meaning of theotetos, stop lying theotetos has a meaning which is the very essence of God. You liar theias does not mean deity, it means pertaining to God So no matter what you want to make of the verse, it doesn't change the fact that Jesus said God is in him, the Father is in him and he is in the Father but still he never said not equated himself to God this is important especially since you quoted Paul saying we shouldn't use human philosophy, if Jesus himself who explains the Father being in him, who says Father and himself are one, says the Father is greater than He is, then why you do believe that he is the Father? Are you not confused?!
Now here says All of God, All that is from God, whether you call it fullness, God's nature, God's form, all of the Spirit of God. All join, Jesus Christ had that in him, now because all of that is in Jesus does that make him God, so then we who have Christ is us are also God as well?!
What even makes God God isn't it holiness, is it some divinity like the Greek and Asgard gods? No, it's holiness, HOLY HOLY HOLY are you LORD GOD Almighty. And Jesus is full of God's holiness.
Let's increase the light a bit and read
Colossians:2:8-10 Don’t let others spoil your faith and joy with their philosophies, their wrong and shallow answers built on men’s thoughts and ideas, instead of on what Christ has said. For in Christ there is all of God in a human body; so you have everything when you have Christ, and you are filled with God through your union with Christ. He is the highest Ruler, with authority over every other power.
But it does start from verses 8, glad you quoted verses 3 as well so
In him lie hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. I am telling you this so that no one will be able to deceive you with persuasive arguments.
Col.2.6&7 - And now, just as you accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord, you must continue to live in obedience to him. Let your roots grow down into him and draw up nourishment from him, so you will grow in faith, strong and vigorous in the truth you were taught. Let your lives overflow with thanksgiving for all he has done.
Paul is stating that everything we need for life and godliness is in Christ, God put it all in Christ for us. So let's not be distracted. Instead of understanding what Paul is saying you are trying to validate a false doctrine from a sentence
You quoted Col 1:19 Col.1.19 - For God in all his fullness was pleased to live in Christ, and by him God reconciled everything to himself. He made peace with everything in heaven and on earth by means of his blood on the cross.
So our real Savior isn't Christ but YHVH who worked through him, like he did through Moses for the people of Israel, that's why Jesus said I can do nothing on my own, the father works so I work. Does God not work in us as well and through us all 1Cor.12.6 There are different ways God works in our lives, but it is the same God who does the work through all of us. this doesn't make us God.
If God only dwelt and work in Jesus that would be different but does same with us, so are we now God? Expect you desire to God would you believe such. We receive what God gave Christ, does that now make us God? No it doesn't.
Let's read earlier verses of Colossians 1 Col.1.12 always thanking the Father, who has enabled you to share the inheritance that belongs to God's holy people, who live in the light. (15) He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.
What is the purpose of what we receive, if it's not for us to be God..
2Pet.1.3 - As we know Jesus better, his divine power gives us everything we need for living a godly life. He has called us to receive his own glory and goodness! 2Pet.1.4 - And by that same mighty power, he has given us all of his rich and wonderful promises. He has promised that you will escape the decadence all around you caused by evil desires and that you will share in his divine nature.
Col.3.1 - Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits at God's right hand in the place of honor and power.
So instead of thinking that you are God or that Christ is God and in turn you are as well
Col.3.2 - Let heaven fill your thoughts. Do not think only about things down here on earth. 3 - For you died when Christ died, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God. 4 - And when Christ, who is your real life, is revealed to the whole world, you will share in all his glory. 5 - So put to death the sinful, earthly things lurking within you. Have nothing to do with sexual sin, impurity, lust, and shameful desires. Don't be greedy for the good things of this life, for that is idolatry. you are a filthy and disgusting liar. All liars will find theirselves in the lake of fire. 1 John 2:23 Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also. Revelation 21:8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death. |

John 20:31 that you may believe that Jesus is the son of God and not that you should believe that Jesus is God.
But where will your lies end, when will the deceit be finished, it will be after the false Christ has been revealed and accepted then Jesus Christ appears in God's glory and destroys it.
how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and how he went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of the devil, because God was with him. He commanded us to preach to the people and to testify that he is the one whom God appointed as judge of the living and the dead. All the prophets testify about him that everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name.” Acts 10: 38 - 43. And yet though Peter says God anointed Jesus, he doesn't add the heresy that and Jesus became God or he healed because he was God in the flesh, what he said is God was with him. God gave the son of man power to forgive sins. and because even the levitical priests could do so, he being greater and our high priest is more than capable to take away our sins. Joel.2.32 And it shall come to pass That whoever calls on the name of YHVH Shall be saved. For in Mount Zion and in Jerusalem there shall be deliverance, As the LORD has said, Among the remnant whom the LORD calls.
This is the promise, the promise isn't to whoever calls on the name of Joshua or Jesus, and the Hebrew word translated as save is "malat" which to slip away, to escape, to perserve. And those whom will escape and be delivered are those YHVH calls.
This basis that calling upon the name of Jesus will save you is from misunderstanding Romans 10:3 and Acts 2:21, where Paul and Peter quote from Joel 2. Now I have treated this aspect in "is Jesus, Jehovah?" https://www.nairaland.com/8318810/jesus-jehovah#133741879 https://www.nairaland.com/8318810/jesus-jehovah#133742431
You can read the thread the understand my indepth explanation that Jesus is not Jehovah, and the teaching in Acts 2 and Romans 10. But for this thread we will focus on Joel 2 and several other verses that speak on the authority of Christ.
Now you are never thought by the apostles that calling on the name of Jesus will save you, what you read in the new testament is to confess that Jesus is Christ and Lord.
This error has made many believe that just by calling upon Jesus they automatically will get saved. Irrespective of their sins and wickedness, it becomes an amazing quick get out of hell free card. But it's not, because it never was, you have to repent and obey God to be saved. If you don't repent, your end will be terrible. There is no name apart from Jesus christ that can save you. May God have mercy on you. Acts 4:10 Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole. 4:11 This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner. 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. |

gohf: Teaching us how to pray, Jesus said, Holy is your name. Not Holy is my name or the name. God's name is sanctified, is hallowed, Matthew 6:9
What does it mean to pray? It means to call upon the name of the Lord.
The first time we come across this in the bible is in Gen.4.26 Seth also had a son, and he named him Enosh. At that time men began to call on the name of the LORD.
That means from the beginning there were those who called upon God, so when God said to Moses that he didn't reveal himself or appear by his name YHVH to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. It means there is a purpose by which God reveals himself in that name and there was no need to do so for Abraham and Isaac and Jacob. And I believe that purpose is salvation.
God reveals himself as YHVH to save the people of Israel from bondage, and I believe from Enosh, people called on the name to be saved. With this understanding this brings us to the book of Romans and what is written in chapter 10. scripture has already prophesied that false teachers like you will rise. 2 Peter 2:1 But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. 1 John 4:1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. 2 Timothy 3:5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. 3:6 For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, 3:7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. 3:8 Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith. 3:9 But they shall proceed no further: for their folly shall be manifest unto all men, as theirs also was. You don't know what is prepared for you, the hottest and blackest darkness is prepared for you. I pray you repent and see the light Jesus christ shinning. |
