Christianity EtcRe: Should We Listen To What Solomon Says In Ecclesiasties? by Steep(m): 1:15pm On Sep 19, 2024
SpyMaster1:
I’m re-reading ecclesiasties now and a question I had a while came back up. I just read what he said in chapter 2

“Nothing is better for a man than that he should eat and drink, that his soul should enjoy good from his labor”.

This kind of seems to be against what some Christian’s would say undecided . Wouldn’t the best thing for a man to do is to be with God and live for God, instead of eating and drinking? Also it does kind of seems like Solomon didn’t really follow or believe in the idea of Heaven. So is this book meant to guide us or to give us insight?
Ecclesiastes is generally speaking of life outside of God as meaningless.
It is a very powerful book, without God, life would have no meaning, the best would be to just eat and drink and be merry but previously he already said he did that but at the end he couldn't get true satisfaction it was all meaningless and at the end he said fearing God and keeping his commanment is mankind true duty.
That he wrote the book of ecclesiastics towrds the end of his life is an indication that Solomon repented.

There is indeed historical recognition from the Catholic Church, including various popes, of Islam's connection to the Abrahamic faith tradition. Here are some examples:

1. Pope Paul VI - Vatican II (Nostra Aetate, 1965): In this landmark document, Nostra Aetate, the Catholic Church officially acknowledged Islam's shared heritage with Christianity and Judaism, recognizing Muslims' worship of the same God as Christians. It states: "The Church has also a high regard for the Muslims. They worship God, who is one, living and subsistence, merciful and almighty, the Creator of heaven and earth."This reflects the Church’s acknowledgment that Islam is a monotheistic religion that traces its roots to Abraham, thus linking it to the broader Abrahamic tradition.

2. Pope John Paul II: Pope John Paul II emphasized respect and dialogue between Christians and Muslims throughout his papacy. During his visit to Damascus in 2001, he spoke at the Umayyad Mosque and reaffirmed the shared belief in one God: "Christians and Muslims, we meet one another in faith in the one God, our Creator, our Guide, our Just Judge."His efforts toward interfaith dialogue reinforced the Church’s understanding that Muslims worship the same God as Christians.

3. Pope Francis: In recent years, Pope Francis has consistently spoken about the shared Abrahamic roots of Christianity and Islam. During his visit to Abu Dhabi in 2019, he co-signed the Document on Human Fraternity with the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, which affirmed: "We, who believe in God and in the final meeting with Him and His judgment, based on our religious and moral responsibility, and through this Document, call upon ourselves, upon the leaders of the world as well as the architects of international policy and world economy, to work strenuously to spread the culture of tolerance and of living together in peace."
The Roman catholic church or the pope or any other church is not that authority on Christianity, The Bible is the authority and standard.

This is contrary to Qur'an 19:30 where Jesus is the slave of Allah!

This is also contrary to Al-Maidah: 110 where Allah questions Jesus on ressurection day asking him if he told people to worship him and his mother as gods!

Al-Maidah:75
Allah says: The Messiah ['Iesa (Jesus)], son of Maryam (Mary), was no more than a Messenger; many were the Messengers that passed away before him. His mother [Maryam (Mary)] was a Siddiqah [i.e. she believed in the words of Allah and His Books (see Verse 66:12)]. They both used to eat food (as any other human being, while Allah does not eat). Look how We make the Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) clear to them, yet look how they are deluded away (from the truth).
It is petals that said Allah is the same the christian God but the Jesus is the Christian God.

1. Jews is not a religion, Judaism is.

2. It is partially true, in the sense that mainstream Judaism does not accept belief in Jesus as compatible with Jewish faith. Traditional Jewish teachings do not recognize Jesus as the Messiah or a divine figure. However, some individuals may identify ethnically as Jewish while holding religious beliefs that fall outside the traditional boundaries of Judaism.
Any religion that reject the deity of christ, his humanity, his finished works on the cross is antichrist that includes the Jewish religion. In Christianity salvation is not in a system but in a person which is christ. Abraham, or Moses or Elijah is not the central figure of Christianity but christ hence it is called CHRISTinanity not abrahaminity or mosesitnity.

3. This part reflects a Christian theological perspective but is not universally accepted across all faiths. Trinitarian Christians view Unitarians as different from their own beliefs, as Unitarians reject the doctrine of the trinity and vice versa
You can't be a Christian if you reject the diety of christ jehovah witness or other unitarians are not Christianity.
Christianity is based on the christ ( his person, nature, position and works) not on Abraham or any other.

And by the way there is nothing Abrahmic about Islam. Islam is complete thrash Allah is actually a devil. You blaspheme God by equating him to a demon.

Christianity EtcRe: Anybody Wishing And Hoping The World Will End Is Selfish And Wicked by Steep(m): 8:31am On Sep 16, 2024
Kvarachi:
Good evening good people of this great house,
It's your commercial bus driver again.
Now let me go into the meat of the topic:
Without mincing words and without caring whose ox is gored, I'm saying this with my full chest and I don't care what you may say to me.
.
Anybody who bcus of one religion or the other thinks this world will end one day is not only deceiving he or herself but also selfish and wicked.
How can you be born and raised from the cradle to adulthood and even to old age and you come out to tell people that the world will soon end. After enjoying many things as a child to your adulthood and maybe still enjoying and you now thinks or wants the world to end.
So the children born today won't grow too just like you did abi? You don't want them to enjoy what you enjoyed abi? You don't want them to give birth to their own babies and see their grandchildren too abi?
.
So now tell me, if today's children will grow and have their own children and childrens children, how is the world going to end?
Don't you think the circle continues.
If your direct parents or grand parents or great grand parents or great great grand parents had wished for that and it happens, will you have been born today?
How selfish and wicked can you be to the new generations for saying the world will end one day.
.
My final submission, it's inevitable that each and everyone of us reading this will surely die one day or someday. I want to assure you all, the day that happens is the day that particular persons worlds came to an end not everybody's world.
The only thing requires from us while on earth is to do good and great things so that your name will be remembered in the sands of time.
.
I rest my case!
This is ignorance even scientific evidence says the universe would end but it would take an incredible amount of time that is because the energy the universe is using is running out. It is like a man using generator and expecting the fuel inside to last forever where is the sense in that? So somebody that tells you the fuel would finish becomes his enemy and given manner of names, that is what people like you are doing yet claim to be smart just like atheists here thinking the universe has no beginning or end even when scientific evidence says otherwise.

I never claimed that all religions worship the same God. What I specifically stated is that Muslims, Christians, and Jews worship the same God.
While you may disagree with this, the reality is that these three faiths all call upon the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Moses.
These religious traditions share a common foundation in their belief in the one God who revealed Himself through these figures central to their faiths.
Jesus is the central figure of Christianity not Abraham. The reality is the Islamic God and Christian God are not the same.

While the three religions differ in their theology and practices, they share a belief in the same God as the God of Abraham. The distinction arises more in how they understand God's nature and relationship with humanity.
It seems you don't know the meaning of theology. The analogy I gave to you, already answered you.

You're overlooking the fact that, despite the various interpretations and attributes different individuals may assign to God, the God worshipped by Abraham, Isaac, and Moses remains the same. The core identity and essence of this deity do not change based on personal perspectives or differing beliefs.

Whether you describe him as having a wife, a son, or a mother, or whether you refer to him as embodying the 3 in 1 or being 1 in 3, the essential truth remains unchanged. He is still the God worshipped by Abraham, Isaac, and Moses. This is the same God whom Jews, Christians, and Muslims call upon. Despite the different ways of understanding or describing him, his fundamental nature remains consistent.
Satanists believe the devil is the one true God so based on your interpretation your God and that of Satanist are the same just different interpretations.
If I ask you what are the core identity of God you may not be able to answer.

You are bring in more lies! The Yorubas and Arabs do not have such believes!
It is simply for respect!

A kid will use "They" for one elder as used for many persons in Yoruba! No ancestor is involved!
Yes, in Yoruba culture and religion, it is believed that the ancestors (known as **Egungun**) and the gods or deities (known as **Orishas**) play significant roles in guiding the living, especially in decision-making.

The ancestors, who are revered and honored through rituals, are thought to continue to have a presence in the lives of their descendants. They are believed to provide protection, guidance, and blessings, and are often consulted during important family or community decisions.

The Orishas, on the other hand, are powerful deities representing various aspects of nature and life (such as Ogun for war and iron, or Sango for thunder and lightning). They act as intermediaries between the Supreme Being (**Olodumare**) and humans. In many cases, decisions are made after consulting these deities, often through divination practices like **Ifá**.

Both the ancestors and the Orishas are believed to work together, influencing the course of events and ensuring harmony between the spiritual and physical worlds.

Yes, the use of the "Royal We" when greeting elders in Yoruba culture reflects deep respect and reverence, rooted in the belief that elders are connected to both the living and the spiritual realms, including ancestors and the gods. The Yoruba people believe that elders carry the wisdom and experience of those who came before them, and their guidance is seen as divinely inspired.

In Yoruba language and culture, plural pronouns and honorifics are used when addressing elders to show respect, acknowledging not only the individual but also their connection to the family lineage, ancestors, and the community. This form of address reinforces the idea that elders are embodiments of ancestral knowledge and have a special role in maintaining spiritual and social order.

In essence, by using the "Royal We," younger people are recognizing the authority, spiritual significance, and the collective wisdom of their elders, which is believed to be influenced by both the gods (Orishas) and ancestors (Egungun).

exactly they can't see the irony. How can a god claims absolute oneness, yet prefers using "we" to describe himself simply it is more honorable. That is allah is not honorable enough so he had to copy human behaviour of making himself seem more than one person to gain more respect.

That is the surprising thing about Muslims. They deride Christians are gullible whereas they are easily the most gullible people on earth. They neither interrogate concepts nor demand explanations in their religion but just swallow whatever is told to them. Yet they believe they are better off than Christians who have interrogated almost all aspects of their religion
Imagine using English to explain Arabic when both languages do not have any cultural nor historical ties or interaction. In Europe of the Middle Ages, the King was synonymous to the state. That's why Louis XIV famously said "L'etat moi" interpreted as "I am the state".
What most of them do not know is that majority of pre-Islamic Arab civilisation was wiped of by the Islamists in their quest to conquer Arabia for themselves. The kings in pre-Islamic Arab was not hereditary as we have now. It was more of an Eldership position. Thus the rulers were mostly old and aged people. So it is very possible they used respectable language for them based on their age and not necessarily because they were royalty.
It is obvious from all accounts that Muhammad was not a perfect man. It is obvious he borrowed existing myths, cultures and traditions and inculcated it into Islam. It is obvious he committed multiple atrocities. But this guys will leave all that and start making snide remarks about Christians and Christianity. Even if you think Muhammad is a prophet, it should not blind you to his mistakes and misdemeanours. To claim Muhammad is the most perfect man is the height of buffoonery and gullibility.
Islam has totally corrupted Arabic culture. Even the language was affected by Islam.

There is no known language where an individual representing himself alone will use "We" to refer to himself. Your reference to English is totally out of point as I already proved. A sovereign is an embodiment of the state. Anything a sovereign does is as if the state does it. That's why a sovereign can send his country to war and the whole country weay "We are at war" not "The King (or President) is at war

I respectfully disagree, but I'll leave the discussion afterwards.

The use of "We" in the Qur'an is a way to show respect and majesty, not to suggest that Allah is more than one. It's like when a king or queen says "we" to show authority, but they are still just one person. In Islam, Allah is one, and using "We" emphasizes His greatness, not plurality.
Go an research the etymology of royal we or why they use it.
Allah is one what? Do you know that the word "one" as used in Arabic is "ahad" guess what ahad means unity of many things.

Hahaha Allah don enter problem, so the use of a plural "we" is more authoritative than singular "I", I don't disagree with it, but I am telling why it is considered so.
