MaxInDHouse:
The word "SPIRIT" in this context means "FORCE OF LIFE life" it doesn't mean the creature continues existing somewhere else otherwise Jesus who committed his spirit unto God couldn't have been said later "raised from the dead" Act 3:15

So when Jesus died he was COMPLETELY DEAD like all other creatures {Ecclesiastes 9:5-10} but the [b]"force of life" or "spirit"[b] sustaining the breath returns to God who gave it to all creatures! Ecclesiastes 12:7 compare to Genesis 2:7

That's what it means at death all creatures seize to exist!
you said nothing survives death yet the breath of life survives death can't you see you are wrong? By the way the word spirit can be interpreted as breath of life or the part of a man capable of understanding and expressing emotion depending on the context.
1 Corinthians 2:11 For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.

God said Adam will die if he disobey Satan said God lied so choose whom you will support as for me i support God.

Nothing survives death according to God's word whatever is dead can't feel anything not even know a single thing after death! smiley
So where does the Bible teach that death means cessation?
Where did God's word say nothing survives death?
The knowledge and wisdom they do not possess is the one that enable them to do work as Ecclesiastes stated.

In fact Ecclesiastes said the spirit returns to God who gave it,

Ecclesiastes 12:7 Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.

According to his verse the spirit does not cease to exist but rather returns to God.

Jesus committed his Spirit to God.

Luke 23:46 And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit: and having said thus, he gave up the ghost.

Stephen prayed the Lord Jesus to recieve his spirit.

Acts 7:59 And they stoned Stephen, calling upon God, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.

The rich man found himself in hell (God cast him there)

Luke 16:23 And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.

After death judgment.
Hebrews 9:27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:

All these have shown that the Spirit actually survives physical death however the spiritual death is different.

Nothing is alive in hell says God's word! Ecclesiastes 9:5-10

So what you're quoting is an ILLUSTRATION! smiley
Read according to context, the knowledge and wisdom that Ecclesiastes is talking about is what will enable them do work. It does not say dead people cease to exist.

What of Job that wrote and God condemned most of the things he said?
At the end Job said he spoke foolishly but where in Ecclesiastes was it written or any where else that Ecclesiastes that certain part was not correct? Every book of the scripture provides their context or their context could be gotten somewhere else.
The book of Job is inspired like the other scriptures.

No, they are not. The writer of Ecclesiastes wasn't a prophet. He spoke some truths but he also said things that weren't true. For the scripture to be inspired by God, it has to be through his chosen vessels. Otherwise, Satan too was inspired by God because his words were written in the Bible.

I believe John was extending the begining beyond Genesis 1:1.

Not True!

Do you not see from his words that he thinks the beginnning of all beginnings was when God created us and our house called heaven and earth?

Which was why he must think that Genesis and John are the same starting point, which you have already riggtly said it is not the same?

He truly thought that the universe began with the creation of our world and that Jesus too was brought forth at that time.

But thank God, proverbs 8 has cleared all those questions.
Are implying there is another beginning outside the beginning of Genesis?
I don't think that is what he was saying, never said Jesus was created in the beginning.

After Bible has been translated to a plain English, some people still allow men doctrine to beclouded their sense of reasoning and understanding.

The verse you quoted along other is plain English which even a bright secondary school student shouldn't struggle with to understand.

Of recent, I asked MetaAI about Philippians 2:6.

Note: I didn't even add the Book or mention anything Bible but here was the reply I got.

This phrase is a quote from the Bible, Philippians 2:6, and it's a description of Jesus Christ. Here's a breakdown of what it means:

- "Who" refers to Jesus Christ.
- "Being in the form of God" means that Jesus existed in the same form or nature as God. It's a statement about His divinity.
- "Thought it not robbery" is an old-fashioned way of saying "did not consider it something to be grasped or seized". In other words, Jesus didn't think it was something He had to take or claim for Himself.
- "To be equal with God" means that Jesus didn't try to assert His equality with God or make Himself equal to God.

In essence, the phrase is saying that Jesus, although He was fully God, didn't try to hold onto His equality with God or use it for His own gain. Instead, He humbled Himself and took on human form (Philippians 2:7-8 )

This passage is often seen as a description of Jesus' willingness to set aside His divine privileges and become human, in order to serve humanity and ultimately die on the cross for our sins. It's a statement about His humility and willingness to serve, rather than trying to assert His own power or status.

As you can see, this verse alone proved that Jesus is FULLY GOD and not just a created being.

I did more on many verses which I'll created a thread on soon.
I would pretend as if that verse is not in the bible. Very dishonest people.

Jesus was CREATED by God Almighty (Father) so Jesus is the firstborn of all creations he is an intelligent and wise child who tries to imitate everything he sees his father doing {John 5:19} so with the long time they both spent together God loved this son so much that He God decided to create more other creatures for the pleasure of His son {Colossians 1:15-16} to make the child happy God allowed him to participate in the creation work {Proverbs 8:22-30} that's why it's just these two persons that always suffice anytime the heavens is revealed! Psalms 110:1; John 17:3; Act 7:56

•According to the scriptures David didn't see one or three person in the Bible book of Psalm 110:1 rather he saw TWO persons and one is LOWER in position.

•Jesus himself said we need to have the knowledge of TWO persons! John 17:3

•Also after Jesus has returned to the heavens Stephen didn't see just one or three persons rather he saw TWO just like David did. Act 7:56

Can you explain that?
They only saw what God permitted them to see i.e God and the Messiah. David was seeing into the future when the Messiah would sit with the father in his throne.

The lower position Jesus took is it before or after coming to the earth?
just before coming to the earth. See Phil 2:7.
He made himself of no reputation taking the form of a servant, before he was made a man.
Note the change of language, before taking upon himself the form of a servant he did all things by his authority but after taking upon himself the form of a servant he relinquished that authority to the father and he was made a man not by himself.

We don't see different gods but one God who is in three different persons playing different roles to fulfill his will.

Wrong!

Do you not see that the making of heaven and earth is "our beginning"? And not the beginning of jupiter or pluto which could have been created before our own or after our own?

And do you not see that John points out that The Word, was "with God"?

So, does that not tell you that when God was moving over the waters in Genesis 1:2 before heaven and earth was made that The Word was also there with Him which we see in God issuing out a command, "let there be ligbt"?

You obviously wrongly thought the whole universe starts with us.

Proverbs 8 clears all this arguments

22 The Lord possessed me in the beginning of his way, before his works of old.

23 I was set up from everlasting, from the beginning, or ever the earth was.

24 When there were no depths, I was brought forth; when there were no fountains abounding with water.

25 Before the mountains were settled, before the hills was I brought forth:

26 While as yet he had not made the earth, nor the fields, nor the highest part of the dust of the world.

27 When he prepared the heavens, I was there: when he set a compass upon the face of the depth:

28 When he established the clouds above: when he strengthened the fountains of the deep:

29 When he gave to the sea his decree, that the waters should not pass his commandment: when he appointed the foundations of the earth:
He might not be wrong, he is not saying the word was created but the word is eternal.

"Praise be the God ( ho Theos of John 1:1) & Father (Senior) of our lord Jesus Christ".

** Final verdict & For emphasis:

* Praise be the God (ho Theos) & Father (the Senior) of our lord Jesus Christ".

* "The Father (the Senior) is greater than I (Jesus)", John 14:28.

Oga, Jesus your deity confirmed his Senior superior above Jesus.
The father is greater than Jesus in position based on the fact that Jesus took a lower position (Phil. 2:7) not in his divine essence which is same with the father.

Oga Steep does NOT believe the holy scriptures of Psalm 82:1,6 confirmed @ John 10:34-36,by Jesus his deity.

In public you dey reject the words confirmed by Jesus.

"Ho Theos" (the God) phrase in the old & new testament , (for example Exodus 3:6 & Acts 3:13)
to reference "the ONLY True God greater than Jesus.

Oga Steep,is any Spirit in heaven greater than himself?

Oga Steep acts as if Jehovah the only true God greater than Jesus had not inspired the words of Job 38:1-7 & Hebrews 1:2 as well as Revelation 3:12.

"Jehovah is the Source of Jesus Christ."
- Miles Monroe, your fellow Trinitarian confessed that.

You don't see the contradiction in your statement. How can the Jehovah be the only true God and yet there are other smaller ditties?
If the Jehovah is the only true God does that not make every other god a false god?
Christianity EtcRe: Is "The Beginning" In Genesis 1:1 Same As "The Beginning" In John 1:1? by Steep(op):
butterfly777:
Its the same beginning. God created the heavens and the earth in the beginning. John makes us know that Jesus was already in existence in the beginning with God (The Father) and as God before creation began.

Both Genesis 1 and John 1 show that God the Father and Jesus the Word were in existence before the beginning.
It could but in
1 John1:1 said the word is from the beginning.

1 John 1:1 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life;

1 John 2:13 I write unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I write unto you, young men, because ye have overcome the wicked one. I write unto you, little children, because ye have known the Father.

I believe John used the word "in the beginning" to describe eternity past.
Again you might be right that the word that the begining refers to the creation that John met the word was already n existence when all things were in existence in which case as you said the wordis eternal.
Then 1John1:1 would mean his existence before his incarnation.

Janosky:
In the holy scriptures, from Genesis to Revelation, that word "beginning" has the same meaning in whatever context you apply it.

The word "Beginning" means the starting point , or
commencement of a series or thing.

You can't use just two different portions of scriptures John & Genesis ALONE to establish what you should understand from your Bible about the word "Beginning "
God also describe himself as the beginning does that mean God actually started to exist?
No, so "the beginning" can also be used in a different way.

Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

I believe they are not exactly the same, John's "beginning" is actually the "indefinite" time before definite time.
How did I know? It is because John later said all creation came into being through him so John 's beginning goes far beyond the beginning of Genesis into eternity.
