CareerRe: 20 Ways To Instantly Build Your Self-confidence by StepG: 8:04pm On Dec 21, 2013
da_mcqute: Self-confidence is the difference between feeling limitless and wanting to pee in your pants. Do you know that others see you just as you see or perceive yourself? (Well, except in cases like grandiose delusion) Your perception is key because perception is reality.

Self-confidence is extremely important in our lives, every aspect of it. Yet many struggle to find it. It is directly proportional to success. The more self confident you are, the more likely you are to be successful. Let's take our school exams for example. Although self confidence could be dependent on preparedness, one could easily make mistakes or suffer from brain-block (the condition where someone forgets what he has learned for a proud of time) even after adequate preparation. This occurs mostly in oral exams. You might have experienced this.

Self confident people inspire confidence in others, their friends, colleagues, their audience, customers and even their "ogas" at work. This is one key way at which they easily achieve success. It's easier for you to be persuaded by someone speaks clearly, looks at you straight in the eye, holds his head up high and answers questions assuredly.

Likewise, you will be reluctant to follow or support a project that is being executed by someone who is always nervous, fumbling, scared and overly apologetic; in short, someone who lacks self confidence.

I'll be sharing some tips on how to build your self confidence. Even if you think you already are, read on.

Note: these tips won't make you Johnny bravo overnight but with consistency and determination you will get there.

I will be dividing the steps in the self confidence building process into 3 broad groups.

A. Psyche

B. Physique

C. Social habits

The 3 groups are not necessarily distinct. They can be practiced concurrently.

Steps in PSYCHE are

1. First of all, don't go down low but take a look at yourself. Recognize who and where you are at the moment. Then think about where you want to go and where you will rather be. Get your mind focused on the task ahead.
2. Make a list of your achievements so far. Think about the things you have done in the past that you have been commended for. Or something that when you look back to, you feel fulfilled and proud of yourself. Take a look at this list regularly so as to enjoy the success you have already had.
3. Think about your strengths and identify them. In what area of your life have you been most successful? Or what aspects of your being do your friends regard to be your strength or weakness. By identifying them, you get to know your strong point (opportunities) and weak points (threats). You can build from there on.
4. Think positively about yourself. Remind yourself that, despite your problems, you are a unique, special, and valuable person, and that you deserve to feel good about yourself. Identify and challenge any negative thoughts that you may have about yourself, such as ‘I am a loser’, ‘I never do anything right’, or ‘No one really likes me’.
5. Time to get more active. Set achievable goals for yourself. This is a very important step in the development of self confidence. Start with smaller tasks so that you won’t be overwhelmed. As you achieve the small goals you set, don’t forget to celebrate your success. As these little successes pile up, you'll have developed some confidence to take on bigger tasks. Make setting and achieving goals a habit. But WATCH-OUT, do not get over-confident or over-stretch yourself.
6. Learn to catch yourself every single time you tell yourself that you can’t have, won’t get or aren't good enough to get what you want.
7. Listen to your doubts but be ready to make deliberate decisions once you've heard them. Sometimes your doubts are there to let you know what you need to prepare for, so you can use them to your benefit as you move forwards.
8. Be thankful. A lot of times, lack of confidence stems from the feeling that you do not have enough of something (money, love etc). This also causes one to be insecure. When you focus too much on what you want, the mind creates reasons why you can’t have it. This leads you to dwell on your weaknesses. Combat that feeling and find that inner peace.

PHYSIQUE

9. The way you dress says a lot about you. Dress in clothes that make you feel good about yourself. No one is more conscious of your physical appearance than you are. When you don’t look good, it changes the way you carry yourself and interact with other people. This doesn't mean you have to spend a fortune on clothes. Rather than buying a bunch of cheap clothes, buy half as many but select high quality items. This decreases the amount of money spent in the long run because they don’t wear out as fast and they remain in fashion longer than cheaper, low quality ones.

10. Work on your personal hygiene. Bath and shave frequently, wear clean clothes, style your hair, trim your nails, and floss your teeth. I am sure it wouldn't 'add' to your confidence if you are described (even once) as the guy or lady with BO or MO (Body odour/Mouth odour). This alone can crash the confidence you have been building like the world trade centre on 9/11.

11. WORK OUT!!!! And not by MOUTH. Get fit. Put yourself in the shape of your life. If you’re out of shape, you’ll feel insecure, unattractive, and less energetic. By working out, you improve your physical appearance, energize yourself, and accomplish something positive.

12. Your posture and how you walk say a lot. Stand up straight, keep your head up and make eye contact. People with slumped shoulders and lethargic movement automatically send a message that they lack confidence. When walking, walk faster. People with confidence walk quickly. They have places to go, people to see, and important work to do. Even if you are not in a hurry or got nothing to do, don’t show it.

PSOCIAL HABITS (the 'P' is silent)

13. Do more of the things that you enjoy doing. Do at least one thing that you enjoy every day, and remind yourself that you deserve it. Make yourself feel good.
14. Do something nice for others. Think about other people around you. Too often we get caught up in our own desires. We focus too much on ourselves and not enough on the needs of other people. If you stop thinking about yourself and concentrate on the contribution you’re making to the rest of the world, you won’t worry as much about you own flaws. For example, visit a friend who is sick, or get involved with a local charity. The more you contribute to the lives of others, the more you’ll be rewarded with personal success and recognition.
15. Learn to compliment other people. When you feel bad about yourself, you tend to project that feeling to other people. Break the habit of gossiping, back stabbing etc and replace it with smiles, good gestures and praises. When you do this, you become well liked. People in turn say good things about you and you gain more confidence. So, always look out for something good to compliment others on.
16. Be heard. When in group discussions or meetings, always endeavor to make contributions. Don’t be scared because you think you might say something silly. You will be surprised that people are much more accepting than you imagine. Share your thoughts, project your views. Ask questions. You become a better public speaker this way and also become recognized.
17. Avoid places, people that make you feel bad about yourself as much as you can. Or be more assertive.
18. Meet new people. When you attend social events, don’t keep to yourself or to the people you already know. Go and have a conversation with someone you don’t know and you never know what – or who – you’ll discover.
19. When you make embarrassing mistakes in public, make fun of yourself. Laugh at your stupidity. This way, when other people try to make fun of you, you’ll be having your own fun.
20. Lastly, get support. Share your troubles. Talk to friends and family about your difficulties and get advice from them. Who knows/ they may also be having similar problems hence, you can form a support group, or may have gone through something similar in the past, you get to learn from their experience.
Jack Welch once said, “Giving people self-confidence is by far the most important thing that I can do. Because then they will act.”

Low self-confidence can be self-destructive, and it often manifests itself as negativity. Self-confident people are generally more positive – they believe in themselves and their abilities, and they also believe in living life to the full. So, which would you rather be?

Symphony007: The way that commitee chairman spoke to the minister was most disgracefull. I bet that he does'nt have half her qualification. Where would he have seen her to speak to her like that if she was still world bank MD? You give a man small power and her thinks the world is at his feet. These are the kind of commitee chairmen that ministers like denzani maduake and stella oduah should appear before. The clash of ego's would cause an earthquake.

HealthRe: Tips To Avoid Bosom Sagging by StepG: 9:45pm On Dec 19, 2013
Occurstæm: A woman’s breasts are truly a symbol of her beauty and femininity. However, there are many natural and unnatural progressions of life that can lead to sagging breasts. Things like ageing, smoking, pregnancy, and excessive exercise can steal away an important part of your beauty and look. While you cannot battle against the natural causes, you can prevent excessive and premature breast sagging with the following tips:

#1. Wear a proper fitting bra
No other part of your body is as affected by gravity as your breasts. One of the most common reasons for sagging breasts is an ill-fitted bra. It is very crucial to pick a correct size bra, as it keeps the breast in shape and enhances your overall appearance. While trying on a bra, make sure that your breasts are not bouncy or spilling out. When the straps become lose, either tighten them or replace the brassiere. If you are not aware about your proper bra size, consult a professional and have your size properly measured.

#2. Massage
To keep your curvy bosoms in shape, apply some moisturiser daily. It will keep the skin supple and help your breasts retain their elasticity. Also, gently massage your breasts in a circular motion from upside down and vice versa. Do this for at least 10 minutes every day. This would help to increase blood circulation in the tissues, and would help in increasing the elasticity of your breasts. You can use aloe vera gel, almond oil, or any other vegetable oil for the massage

#3. Healthy Diet
A healthy diet is very essential to your attempts to avoid breast sagging. Your body needs balanced diet to build healthy cells, including the new breast tissues. Vitamins are very important for your body. Vitamin E and D are very important for healthy skin. Along with this, include Omega-3 fatty acids in your diet to reduce risks of breast cancer. Add a lot of green leafy vegetables, carrots, fishes, nuts, tomatoes, and whole grains, etc. in your diet.

#4. Steady weight
Maintain a stable weight by exercising regularly and eating a balanced diet. Weight fluctuations such as gaining and losing weight regularly can result in stretching out the skin tissues. This can affect the elasticity of the breasts. Always stick to your recommended weight to avoid sagging of your breasts along with many other health problems. Fluctuations in body weight can increase the tension on the connective tissues in the breasts.

#5. Excessive exercise
Anything in excess is bad, and so is excessive exercising. Running in particular can take a toll on the elasticity of your breasts. Women with larger size should be extra careful while exercising. The weight of larger breasts can cause harm to ligaments and connective tissues. So, avoid jogging for extended periods of time and always wear a supportive and a comfortable sports bra while exercising. Having said that, a correct fitness routine can help you to keep your breasts firm. Some pectoral workouts can help a lot, such as push-ups, chest presses, etc

#6. Water intake
Drink enough glasses of water every day to keep your body hydrated. Your skin tends to become wrinkled and saggy when it is dehydrated. So, keep your skin moist and hydrated to get rid of loose and saggy skin. Other than water, you can also rely on other liquids and citrus fruits to keep yourself hydrated.

What else?

Apart from these six there are many other ways to prevent sagging breast:

Quit smoking and alcohol.
Practice correct posture while sitting and standing.
Get enough sleep.
Replace your old bras on time.
Always keep your breast skin moisturised.

While, sagging breasts can leave you worried and less confident, these simple tips can help you get healthy and perfect breasts.

Foreign AffairsRe: Nigeria- South Africa F A Q s by StepG: 8:18pm On Dec 19, 2013
MyJoe: Reading the first few pages of this thread again confirms that people react to these issues emotionally. I will try to look at the facts here by answering some questions.

Nigerians liberated South Africa. Why are they ungrateful?
The South Africans liberated themselves. They were the ones who got shot on the streets of Soweto, murdered in detention, jailed, exiled and humiliated. Nigeria made its contribution but so did some other countries. Yes, it is normal for you to express dissatisfaction if you feel someone you helped fails to recognize or denies your efforts. But on the Mandela funeral episode, it was the prerogative of the organizers to choose who spoke and Nigerians should not make too much out of it. It appears some of the choice of speakers were made for extant practical reasons. For example, Obama because he is the first black president. Hailemariam of Ethiopia and Banda of Malawi were chosen to speak at the funeral because they are the heads of the AU and Sadc respectively. I don’t know the criterion by which some of the others were chosen but like it said it was the organisers’ prerogative. Nigeria was one of the first countries visited by Mandela on coming out of prison – that was gratitude.

Nigeria did nothing for South Africa – putting Mbeki in a guest house doesn’t amount to helping South Africa.
Nigeria probably contributed more than any other country to the fight against apartheid. Its contribution to efforts to end apartheid was mainly in four areas (1) diplomacy (2) financial contributions (3) scholarship (4) economy.
1. Diplomacy: Right from the time of Nigeria’s first leader, Tafawa Balewa, Nigeria made the matter of South Africa a major issue at diplomatic forums. Its main platforms were those presented by the UN and the Commonwealth. At Commonwealth CHOGMS, it campaigned, cajoled and threatened to pull out. This was revved up with the coming of General Murtala to power in the 70’s. Nigeria’s foreign minister General Garba made lengthy speeches at the UN, calling for sanctions and urging more actions. Nigeria’s diplomatic efforts were often countered by the likes of Kamuzu Banda of Malawi whose constant refrain was that nobody would leave the Commonwealth and destroy it. Obasanjo kept the fire burning when he assumed Nigeria’s leadership in 1976. If you have not read this letter he wrote to Thatcher, you should so do. http://omojuwa.com/2013/04/an-open-letter-to-mrs-margaret-thatcher-from-general-olusegun-obasanjo/
2. Finance: Nigeria made financial contributions to the ANC. These monies came from the Nigerian government and from donations made by the Nigerian people. Yes, the money got to the ANC. Others who made financial contributions included Muammar Ghadaffi of Libya.
3. Scholarship: Nigeria granted scholarship to many South African students to study at Nigerian universities. A good number of them were also employed as teachers and in other positions. Some other Africa countries like Ghana also did this.
4. Economy: Nigerians were encouraged to boycott anything made by companies that did business with the apartheid government.
Nigeria also granted residence and Nigerian passports to many freedom fighters who were exiled from their country and denied passports.

However, for all of Nigeria’s contribution, the country that suffered most for its efforts against apartheid was Mozambique. ANC bases in the country were often attacked by Pretoria’s commandos and its president Samora Machel, a fine gentleman, was killed in a plane crash believed to have been orchestrated by the apartheid’s government’s intelligence agents. Other African countries, including Zambia, Angola and Tanzania also made useful contributions although some of them were a bit of late comers having not gained independence until the late 70’s and 80’s. Uganda also played a role, especially under Museveni.

Why should Nigerians assist African countries in difficulties? For example, South Africa.
If you are in the sitting room and you hear sounds of someone being murdered in the bedroom, what would you do? You would spontaneously stand up and rush to the scene to try to help. Apartheid was a horrendous episode of evil. It was an affront to all right thinking people. It was an insult and a slap on the face of every non-white person alive since it was the ultimate case of institutionalization of white supremacy. We had a responsibility to do something. Everyone did. It is very likely that Freetown would have been razed to the ground during the RUF invasion of 1999 were it not for the efforts of Brigadier (then colonel) Maxwell Kobe. Were it not for Nigeria the RUF would have taken over Sierra Leone completely and turned it into a state of nature. We saved tens of thousands of lives, possibly hundreds of thousands – that is the satisfaction we get.

Nigeria is the most populated country in Africa and has immense resources, including one of the continent's largest armed forces. We should be involved in the CAR at the moment to prevent the situation degenerating completely, as that will cost us more. Ditto for South Sudan. Involvement does not always involve putting boots on the ground. Our diplomats should be more involved.

Why do Nigerians respect Mandela so much? He did nothing for us. He helped free his country, so what?
See the above response. Apartheid was our problem – all of us. People like Nelson Mandela and Martin Luther King deserve the global respect they get. And we should start giving the same regard to other heroes and liberators – Samora Machel, Kenneth Kaunda, Julius Nyerere, Franz Fanon, Amilcal Cabral, Augustinho Neto, Sam Nujoma, John Garang, Albert Lutuli, Steve Biko, Walter Sisulu, Winnie Mandela and others - instead of going on about Mohandas Gandhi and Winston Churchill. Mandela may have been the face of South Africa’s struggle but he did not work alone. There were many others.

Why do Nigerians feel superior to other Africans?
The myth of the super black has been around for quite some time. It is found mainly among Nigerians, South Africans and African-Americans. African-Americans feel they are the super blacks just because they live in the great USA and not Africa which is worse than death itself. One of them even said he was happy his forebears jumped on a slave ship. South Africans feel they are the super blacks because they live on the European patch of the continent. Nigerians feel they are the super blacks because – well, because they are from Nigeria, the “giant of Africa” (who invented this terrible phrase, for Christsakes?). The myth of the super black man is foolish.

Why do South Africans hate Nigerians?
South Africans don’t hate Nigerians. There are many Nigerian businesses in RSA and no one has ever tried to organize a boycott of them or impose special taxes on them. There are Nigerian professionals and no one has tried to stop South Africans hiring them. Many Nigerian men are happily married to South African women.

What exists is a considerable amount of suspicion of Nigerians – and, yes, this sometimes manifests as hatred. But the suspicion is understandable – even Nigerians are suspicious of Nigerians and you usually have to prove yourself first before you are trusted. At the end of apartheid, many Nigerians went to the country. Unfortunately, there were a good number of them with criminal intentions.

Why are South Africans xenophobic?
Anti-immigrant sentiments are fairly common reaction in countries that get a large influx of economic migrants. Britain is retching things up. Every European country now has its anti-immigrant party doing well at elections. Japan doesn’t take in up to a couple of hundred a year. The people often feel that foreigners are taking their jobs. This is often not entirely true but it’s the common belief. Under the same circumstances, many Nigerians would react the same way. Remember Ghana must go?

Why are so many foreigners perpetrating crime in South Africa?
Most of the crime in South Africa is perpetrated by South African nationals. Unfortunately, apartheid nurtured a culture of violence. Add that to a large number of people who did benefit from formal education and you have the present situation.

Why is not Nigeria not respected?
Nigeria is disrespected because of its failed leadership and reputation for corruption, decay and crime. The present state of Nigeria is not only a shame to thinking Nigerians, but all thinking people of black skin. Anything South Africa achieves will always be seen as the achievement of white people. The only way black people are going to be respected globally is when Nigeria gets it right. But our leaders put their interest before that of the people and siphon money to foreign accounts while poverty spreads. Intelligent and capable Nigerians have to either leave the country or grovel before idiots to get crumbs or eke out what they can out of stone. This is what gives Africans the right to be mad at Nigeria. Unfortunately, this is often expressed emotionally – as you can see in the other thread - rather than constructively.

In the 90’s Nigeria stuck out its neck for Liberia. It lost many soldiers. At a point, Nigeria’s foreign minister Tom Ikimis’ aircraft was landing, frequently too, at Monrovia airport with the aid of a torchlight in his bid to bring peace to that country. Some would expect that Liberian streets would today be named after people like Ibrahim Babangida, Sani Abacha, Tomi Ikimi, John Iniengar, Victor Malu and others. Not so. They don’t even mention their names. When it comes to expressing gratitude Madam Johnson-Sirleaf would rather thank the United States for bringing peace to her country. What the United States did? My memory fails me.

South African companies contribute nothing to Nigeria’s economy and milk people of their money
South African companies contribute a lot to Nigeria’s economy. Businesses exist to make money. It is the responsibility of the government to ensure that in doing so, rights are respected. The South African companies in Nigeria operate within the law. If the laws are inadequate or not enforced that is the fault of the government. Imagine what would have happened in 2001 if MTN had not come in. There were no Nigerian companies ready at the time and having only Econet would have caused us a nightmare. There are Nigerian companies in South Africa too (President Mbeki encouraged Nigerian businesses to come in a lot) and they operate within the law, making their contributions to the socioeconomic development of the country.

Where is Nigeria headed?
In the absence of good leadership, anything can happen, but it’s most likely to continue tottering as it is. If a good leader comes, the country still has enough materials and people to make it one of the world’s top ten.

Where is South Africa headed?
The ANC has Nigeria to learn from but it seems it has not done this yet. Although corruption is a major problem in the country, it has not got anywhere near Nigerian proportions yet. They don’t yet have government officials conniving with thieves to loot their mines on a large scale or evidence being presented against a minister for buying two cars for N255m and the president winks at her to carry on. Their former police chief is serving a long jail term for taking a mere $200,000 in bribes. Our own police chief got a slap on the wrist for billions of naira. Their institutions still function – recently a government person investigated Zuma’s house. That doesn’t happen in Nigeria. But with the way things are going, the signs are ominous – they already axed the Scorpions (their EFCC). If the ANC does not move to talk tough on corruption and reign it in, it’s mene mene tekel upharsin and the country could end up like Nigeria.

Science/TechnologyRe: Weird Things That Happen During An Eclipse by StepG: 10:15pm On Nov 03, 2013
Originakalokalo: Animals’ body-clocks get all messed up
During major solar eclipses, birds and insects will often lapse into an eerie silence. Those that generally sleep at night will actually begin to get ready for a nap, while nocturnal animals begin to wake up and move around.

Since the darkest part of an eclipse doesn’t last too long, the daytime animals wake up as soon as it’s over and the nocturnal animals try to go back to sleep. They’re all very confused – especially as the earth becomes colder and winds start to rise. But some will take it in their stride and sit and enjoy the spectacle.

Rows of shadows move rapidly across the ground in an eclipse
“Shadow bands” are an effect of major solar eclipses. If you ever see them, you won’t forget them. They look like clear, dark grey strips of paper lined up row after row, with about the same amount of open space between the strips as they are wide.

When the event starts, they seem to be simply lying on the ground. And as the moon makes its way across the sun, the bands seem to move quickly towards you over the ground. Naturally, this freaks people out.

No Sex
Medieval folk believed that sex during an eclipse would result in ugly demon-filled children
Europeans in the Middle Ages thought that you should never get it on during a lunar eclipse, because any “moon children” would be born with ugly demons inside them. Then you’d have to pay for their food and shelter, when all they’re going to be good for is being burned at the stake.

A modern superstition also has it that a pregnant woman shouldn’t touch her belly during a lunar eclipse. Doing so will cause the baby to be born with a birthmark - the size of which depends on the force of the touch.

Birth Defects
Some Latin Americans believe red panties and a safety pin will prevent birth defects

Talking of birth, the Indians seem to take the cake on this one: one newspaper recently told pregnant women not to go out during the eclipse, to stop them giving birth to a blind baby or one with a cleft lip. One woman laments:

“I did not take any precautions when I was pregnant during a lunar eclipse. I cut an apple even though I had been warned not to touch any sharp objects; My son was born with a missing finger.”

Not to be outdone, some pregnant women in Mexico and other Latin American countries still wear bright red panties with a safety pin stuck through them during solar eclipses – a practice that stems from ancient Mayan and Aztec beliefs. But instead of panties and a safety pin, the ancients used red string and an arrowhead.

Columbus Tricks the Jamaicans
Columbus tricked native chiefs into giving him food by predicting an eclipse

In early 1504, Christopher Columbus was stranded for months on the island of Jamaica. He’d turned the natives against him by being nasty and rude, so they refused to help him out with food supplies.

Columbus was more than a little hungry, so he thought of a ruse that would impress the locals. After using his tools to work out that a lunar eclipse would soon occur, he told the native chiefs that unless they gave him what he needed, he’d darken the moon. The chiefs refused – and of course, the moon went dark right on cue. The natives freaked out, and gave cunning Columbus all the choice cuts until he was rescued.

Eskimo Disease
Eskimos turn their utensils upside-down during an eclipse

If you live in the cold north, take note: disease is meant to strike the Eskimo people whenever the women forget to place their utensils upside-down during an eclipse.

Next time you’re snowed under in your igloo during an eclipse, chowing down on fresh fish steaks – don’t forget to turn your spoons, forks and knives upside-down. This a sure way to stop the sick sun and moon from poisoning you by shining their rays onto your cutlery. Best to hide chopsticks to avoid confusion.

Tin Pots in Thailand
Thai people bang pots and set of fireworks to scare away spirits

Many in Thailand think that an eclipse is a sign of the end of the world. In old times, it was thought that an evil spirit was to blame for the sun’s “going away” – so people would bang pots and set off fireworks to scare away the spirit and bring back the sun.

Golden Showers in India
Some Indians wash their eyes out with urine

India is a great country when it comes to eclipse beliefs: some think that you shouldn’t sleep with wet hair, or it might turn you into a lunatic (a word which has the same Latin stem as lunar – still more proof that the so-called lunar effect has been around for a long time).

Some also think that you should take a bath before and after the eclipse, to wash away any evil spirits. And – get this – that you should wash your eyes out with urine, to stop your eyes from ever hurting again.

Eclipse Hunting
830 people chartered a ship to chase an eclipse

If you see an eclipse once, you’ll want to see it again.

Marcy Sigler knows the feeling. In 1972, she chartered a ship from New York to the waters off Nova Scotia, with no less then 830 people on board – just to see an eclipse.

Two days later, at 3:47 p.m., the travelers saw a total eclipse in perfect weather. Crowded on the decks, the eclipse-hunters saw the black shadow of the moon coming towards them — a black shape, something like a tornado, changed the color of the sea to a deep purple as the moon flew across the sun.

Shadow Lovers
Eclipse-chasers are called umbraphiles: “shadow lovers”

People who chase eclipses seem to have a weird addiction to them that is hard to explain. There’s even a word for it: the addicts are called umbraphiles, or “shadow lovers”.

Once every 16 months or so, this bunch of eccentrics will drop whatever they’re doing and hitchhike, drive, sail, and ride camels to the middle of nowhere – all to see “the shadow”.

Every time there’s a major eclipse, you’ll see the same people that you saw last time.

HealthRe: The Truth About Eggs by StepG: 4:49pm On Oct 05, 2013
doctor isa: Hard-boiled eggs make a quick snack if you are in a hurry or can be used to sneak protein into your salad at lunch. Adding hard-boiled eggs to your diet adds good fats to your body to keep your heart healthy. Hard-boiled eggs also pack important vitamins to help protect your eyes and keep your bones strong.

Hard-boiled eggs provide good fats called monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats, or MUFAs and PUFAs. Replacing saturated and trans fats as much as possible with monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats stabilizes your blood cholesterol levels and lowers your overall risk of heart disease, explains MayoClinic.com. These heart-healthy fats also regulate insulin in your blood, which keeps your blood sugar within a healthy range -- especially beneficial if you have type 2 diabetes. More than two-thirds of the fat content of hard-boiled eggs comes from good MUFAs and PUFAs.
High Protein

Hard-boiled eggs are naturally high in protein. You need protein to build muscle mass, but it also helps repair all tissues in your body and provides structure for cellular walls. Your diet should consist of 10 percent to 35 percent protein, or 50 to 175 grams for someone following a 2,000-calorie diet, according to the Dietary Guidelines for Americans 2010. One large hard-boiled egg provides more than 6 grams of protein.
Eye Health

One of the major vitamins in eggs is vitamin A. This vitamin is a component of a protein that absorbs light in your retinas, protects membranes around the cornea and lessens your risk of night blindness. Women need 700 micrograms of daily vitamin A and men require 900 micrograms, the Office of Dietary Supplements reports. Snacking on a large hard-boiled egg adds approximately 75 micrograms of vitamin A to your diet.
Strong Bones

Hard-boiled eggs provide vitamin D to keep your bones and teeth strong. Vitamin D promotes the absorption of calcium and regulates calcium levels in your blood. This process ensures that your skeleton gets the calcium it needs for strength and structure. You need 600 international units of vitamin D each day, reports the Office of Dietary Supplements. You get about 45 international units of vitamin D from one large hard-boiled egg.
Caloric Information

One large hard-boiled egg provides nearly 80 calories. About 60 percent of the calories come from fat. Eliminate nearly all of the fat, if you want to cut back on calories, by scooping out the egg yolk. By consuming only the lean protein from the egg white, you reduce your calorie intake by more than half.

RomanceRe: Questions Women Should Avoid Asking Men In Relationships by StepG: 4:32pm On Sep 21, 2013
Flaubert Ajiero: Hey Ladies, I know you all like dissecting what's going on with your men and honestly that is cool but what isn't cool is when you start asking all or any of the 4 questions below.

By the way, have you ever realized how angry a man can get when you ask too many questions at a time? When it comes to relationships, most women want to know everything that a man is thinking.

But here is the truth and from a man's perspective, there are 4 questions I think women should really avoid asking their men while in a relationship because the answers you get are basically those aimed at pleasing you but not the whole TRUTH.

1: Do I look fat?

Most men have learned that the answer to this question is always NO. Always. No exceptions. Women and weight have too close of a bond and women often define themselves and their worth by the scale. Therefore, men are prepared and ready to say, “No, you look beautiful!” no matter what. If a woman really cares about looking fat, she should look in the mirror and decide for herself. If she feels great, then no need to ask for affirmation. But the attention-seeking woman might be desperate for compliments and turn to her man for her fix. It’s most important to be healthy, no matter what the scale says... Ladies!

2: What happened in your past relationships?

Some women become obsessed with finding out everything about their man’s past. They need to know if they measure up to ex-girlfriends or wives, if he’s as happy with them as he was before and if he’s really over a past heartbreak. You might be especially concerned about what went wrong with your guy’s previous relationships. Remember, though, he might have been a very different man then, and he probably learned from his mistakes. Try not to hold his past wrongs against him because chances are he doesn't want to be reminded of them. He doesn't want you to see him in a bad light. Let him be the person he is now. Let him feel good about how he is with you, and not dragged through memories of what he did (or didn't do) with other partners. Of course it’s important to communicate, but too much probing shows a lack of trust and confidence in your relationship.

3: Are you attracted to other women?

This comes down to self-esteem (and therefore attention) and confidence in your relationship. A man who doesn't look at anyone or feel anything for other women is either very old, very tired, or just plain lying. Looking at and responding to others doesn't necessarily mean he doesn't find you desirable or is comparing you. Of course too much gawking or staring is inappropriate, are you going to tell me you've never glanced at an attractive guy? We are all humans. If he takes it to the next level and starts to flirt, however, he’s definitely not fully committed to you and its time to reevaluate your relationship.

4: What are you thinking?

This question usually comes up in a moment of silence, and often times while in bed. Some women want to make sure that a man is thinking only of them in bed, but this is a very complicated question for a guy. Make sure you can tolerate hearing about what’s going on in your man’s mind, and remember not to assume he doesn't care about you. You might be amazed when he answers “oh, just the football game yesterday.” Men’s minds can wonder to multiple subjects, while women tend to concentrate on the activity at hand and analyze every detail. Relax and take your man’s answer for what it is.

Matthew briggs: Quite very useful tips. Moreover adding to the op's tips on building confidence. There are 3 core steps to gaining self confidence. I will use my life experiences to relay them.

1. Build your intellect, Increase your knowledge base - I was once a shy person an extreme introvert, in fact my mum told me when I was little when visitors came around I always ran and hid my self. Lack of self confidence plagued me during my early years.

Until at a very young age I got to stay with a lecturer and everything changed, I had access to this amazing library and an awesome collection of books. I was hungry for knowledge and I therefore read ferociously, My knowledge and intelligence grew tremendously. It boosted my confidence I felt more sure of my self and abilities, I knew I was not empty but carried something very few carried. Till today the hunger for knowledge has never died.

Knowledge is the ultimate self confidence boaster. It helps you stand tall in front of your peers because you know what they don't. I got to understand that every one of us have our insecurities, fears, weakness and imperfections, we are all afraid of something no matter how beautiful, handsome or strong we look. Moreover I learnt that knowledge and intellect is not enough.

2. Look and Act confident :- Been brilliant and knowledgeable is not enough, you've got to let the world know you have strong belief in your self and capabilities. The catch is that I think 70% of human communication is non verbal meaning, people access you based on how you carry your self.

The way you walk, talk, sit and stand . With this new found knowledge, I refined the way I walked, I walk like someone that's on a mission no dragging of my feet or walking like someone who has all the time in the world. I sit like an executive that's in a board meeting, I talk assertively, clearly and intelligently, I look at you in the eyes when I have too. I stand uprightly in firm postures. To pull this off you've got to imagine your self as the CEO of a fortune 500 company or have a role model you look up to. Mine was Apple' s late Steve jobs, Oracle's Larry elision and Obama.

3. Build a track record of achievements, gather some bragging rights - The most surest way to build your confidence is putting yourself out there and doing something that you can look back and pat yourself in the back saying "I did this sh*t". That's nothing that more self assuring than looking back at your achievement it might academical, physical, financial etc. and there they stand speaking for you.

In my case I dared to do stuff others were afraid of, taught my self software's people were scared of and went on to do projects that when I look back during my darkest hours I smile and say to my self " dude you did this".

Self confidence is not a destination but a journey. It a process, a state of mind affected by what you feed your mind with.

I have not achieved hundred percent confidence as I write this, I still have my heart beating fast when am about to make a speech, but I have surely come a long way. I have this unwavering belief in my self and ability to deliver.

Finally if you can't act confident, fake it.

Maxymilliano: https://paparazzipress.com.ng/media/k2/items/cache/32088387da419227f20729e6cf7687d8_L.jpg

These are not the best of times for one of the brains behind the newly registered All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as information reaching Paparazzi Magazine suggests that he is at the moment down with the dreaded and incurable Parkinson’s disease.

Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu dropped out of circulation several weeks ago and his absence at this crucial time in the run-off to the 2015 general elections and the consolidation of the newly registered party has raised questions as Nigerians want to know the whereabouts of the man popularly called Jagaban. To douse the anxiety of his followers and shut up critics, the media team of the former Lagos State governor released a statement weeks back claiming that he had gone for surgery of a knee he injured during his active sporting days, which became nagging due to some social and family activities,.

Paparazzi Magazine can however reveal that the real nature of Asiwaju Tinubu’s ailment is Parkinson’s disease which sources say he has been suffering from but has now started progressing to its advance stage.

According our source, Asiwaju Tinubu did not go for any surgery but has to take time off from his very busy political engagements and avoid the Nigerian public because the disease is beginning to advance.

“Asiwaju is suffering from Parkinson’s disease! He did not go for any surgery. He took time off so that he can be out of public glare since the disease is already advancing. It is so bad that he cannot eat in public any longer because his hands will be shaking terribly. The same goes for signing of cheques. It is a bad situation that nobody prays for”, the source said.

Asked what will be the fate of APC in the absence of Tinubu who is believed to be the engine room of the party, the source disclosed that things will naturally take care of themselves as event unfolds.

“It is too early to write Tinubu off; we cannot say he has become a human vegetable and I am sure he can still play some role in APC even with his condition.

Though there is no doubting the fact this is a big blow to the party and it will take a lot of hard work for the party leadership to carry on without Tinubu’s active participation”.

What is Parkinson's Disease?

Low levels of dopamine, a brain chemical (neurotransmitter) involved in controlling movement, cause symptoms of Parkinson's disease. The shortage of this brain chemical occurs when nerve cells in a part of the brain (substantia nigra) that produces dopamine fail and deteriorate. The exact cause of this deterioration is not known.

The links between Parkinson's disease and factors such as genetics, aging, toxins in the environment, and free radicals are all under investigation. Although these studies are beginning to provide some answers, experts do not know the exact cause of the disease.

Studies are ongoing to determine whether there is a genetic cause of Parkinson's disease. Only a small percentage of people with Parkinson's disease have a parent, brother, or sister who has the disease. But abnormal genes do seem to be a factor in a few families where early-onset Parkinson's disease is common.

The type and severity of symptoms experienced by a person with Parkinson's disease vary with each individual and the stage of Parkinson's disease. Symptoms that develop in the early stages of the disease in one person may not develop until later-or not at all-in another person.

Symptoms of Parkinson's disease typically begin appearing between the ages 50 and 60. They develop slowly and often go unnoticed by family, friends, and even the person who has them.

A small number of people have symptoms on only one side of the body that never progress to the other side.

Common Symptoms of Parkinson’s disease
Tremor, or shaking, often in a hand, arm, or leg. Tremor caused by Parkinson's disease occurs when the person is awake and sitting or standing still (resting tremor) and subsides when the person moves the affected body part.
Stiff muscles (rigidity) and aching muscles. One of the most common early signs of Parkinson's disease is a reduced arm swing on one side when the person is walking that is caused by rigid muscles. Rigidity can also affect the muscles of the legs, face, neck, or other parts of the body and may cause muscles to feel tired and achy.

Slow, limited movement (bradykinesia), especially when the person tries to move from a resting position. For instance, it may be difficult to get out of a chair or turn over in bed.

Weakness of face and throat muscles. Talking and swallowing may become more difficult, and the person may choke, cough, or drool. Speech becomes softer and monotonous. Loss of movement in the muscles in the face can cause a fixed, vacant facial expression, often called the "Parkinson's mask."

Difficulty with walking (gait disturbance) and balance (postural instability). A person with Parkinson's disease is likely to take small steps and shuffle with his or her feet close together, bend forward slightly at the waist (stooped posture), and have trouble turning around. Balance and posture problems may result in frequent falls. But these problems usually do not develop until later in the course of the disease.

Tremor is often the first symptom that people with Parkinson's disease or their family members notice. Initially, the tremor may appear in just one arm or leg or only on one side of the body. The tremor also may affect the chin, lips, and tongue. As the disease progresses, the tremor may spread to both sides of the body. But in some cases the tremor remains on just one side.

Emotional and physical stress tend to make the tremor more noticeable. Sleep, complete relaxation, and intentional movement or action usually reduce or stop the tremor.

CareerRe: Things You Must Give-up To Be Successful by StepG: 10:53am On Sep 10, 2013
Bluetoooth:

1) Give up the habit of waiting

The way you spend your time defines who you are.  You don’t get to choose how you are going to die, or when; you can only decide how you are going to live right now.  Trust me, a year from now you will wish you had started today.  Read The Now Habit.

2) Give up the excuses

Sooner or later you will come to realize that it’s not what you lose along the way that counts; it’s what you do with what you still have.  When you let go, forgive, and move on, you in no way change the past, you change the future.

3) Give up trying to be perfect

Sometimes we try to show the world that we are flawless in hopes that we will be liked and accepted by everyone.  But we can’t please everyone, and we shouldn’t try.  The beauty of us lies in our vulnerability, our love, our. complex emotions – our authentic imperfections.  When we embrace who we are and decide to be authentic, instead of perfect, we open ourselves up to real relationships, real happiness, and real success.  There is no need to put on a mask.  There is no need to pretend to be someone you’re not.  You are perfectly imperfect just the way you are.

4) Give up doing things you know are wrong

Nothing is more damaging to you than doing something that you believe is wrong.  Your beliefs alone don’t help you grow and thrive, your behavior and actions do.  So always do what you know in your heart is right, for you.

5) Give up feelings of entitlement.

Nobody owes you anything.  When you approach life with the false sense that you are owed things, you will naturally become less productive and constantly find yourself disappointed by reality.  When you are grateful for what you have, and see positive things as bonuses, versus owed entitlements, you will earn great successes gradually as you grow.  Read The Road Less Traveled.

6) Give up relationships that want you to be someone else

The best kind of relationship is the one that makes you a better person without changing you into someone other than yourself.

7) Give up letting others decide what you can and can’t do

In order to live your own authentic life, you have to follow YOUR inner GPS, not someone else’s.  When others say, “You can’t do it!” or “That’s impossible,” don’t lose hope.  Just because they couldn’t doesn’t mean you can’t.

8.) Give up being a helpless victim

Yes, it is unfortunate that sometimes bad things happen to the best of people.  Life can be unfair, unkind and unjust.  However, being stuck in a victim mentality does not nurture your ability to move onward and upward.  You’ve got to stand back up and take positive steps to heal and grow.

9) Give up worrying about past failures

Accept your past without regret, handle your presence with confidence, and face your future without fear.  You are today where your thoughts and actions have brought you; you will be tomorrow where your thoughts and actions take you.  Read How to Stop Worrying and Start Living.

10) Give up blaming everyone else

Either you own your situation or it will own you.  Either you take responsibility for your life, or someone else will.  Blame is a scapegoat – it’s an easy way out of taking accountability for your own outcome.  It’s a lot easier to point the finger at someone or something else instead of looking within.  Blame is not constructive; it does not help you or anyone else – nobody wins in the blame game.  The amount of energy and stress it takes to place blame elsewhere takes away from your ability to move forward and find a real solution.
And remember, the road you are traveling may be the more challenging one, but don’t lose faith.  Don’t listen to the doubters, don’t let setbacks keep you down, and most of all, don’t give up on yourself.

It’s okay if you don’t know how much more you can handle.  It’s fine if you don’t know exactly what to do next.  Eventually you’ll let go of how things ‘should be’ and start to see all the great possibilities in front of you.  This is your life – grab the wheel with both hands and keep steering yourself in the right direction.

chaircover: Very good points poster. Can I add a few to those please?

Praise him. If we can tell them when they do wrong, then we should be as vocal when they do good too

Do things that he wouldn’t normally expect you to do e.g. if he has a project you know about, there is nothing stopping you from giving him a lump sum towards that project if you have the money sitting in your account

Take genuine care of his family & their welfare

Close gaps – For example if he is bad at remembering birthdays, then send people cards in his name

Always pray for him

Treat him with respect, like a king & let him know how special he is, in your simple everyday actions and words.

. . . . and a decent responsible man will return all this back to you

DICKtator: Won't only tag their demise on competition. After all, they had the goodwill and strong customer base ,which they could have leveraged on, before the so-called competition arose.
The problems were bad management, the franchisor-franchisee agreement where most of the franchise did not work on their total quality management.
Most were producing low-quality products and even services(Seen where the counter guys and security harass you for money?)
the mince-pie became flour/yeast-pie.
pilfering of their goods and inflated procurement prices.
i doubt if they studied their competitiors
All these still encompasses bad management
now mr smallz
grin grin grin grin
mr man u are still cimcumgyrating within the same spot, all u said still boil down to hot competitors that mr bigs cannot stand.at first no one notice how bad mr bigs services were untill d coming of new eateries.

PropertiesRe: Reasons Why You Must Own Your House by StepG: 8:24am On Jun 30, 2013
HomesOfLife: The need to build your own house can NEVER be over- emphasized. As I said in my earlier post, building a house should not be seen as a luxury to anybody; it is a necessity. Nelson Mandela said, “If a man has not built a house, he has not got a home”. Another wise man said “If you have no roof over your head, you have no root.”
Building your own house should be your focus; it should be your prayer, hunger, aspiration, joy and vision.
Here are 13 solid reasons why you must build your own house.

1. To Prepare for Old Age https://atlantablackstar.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/black-love-old.jpg One of the best ways to prepare for old age is to build your own house. What do you think will happen when you celebrate your 80th birthday and you still need to pay rent?

2. Rent is rising – Precisely April last year, Agents were complaining about the hike of Miniflats in Bode Thomas and environs from the usual 250-300k to 400k. Guess how much a standard Miniflat in that area goes for now? 700k! Yes, 700k! Just in case you’re confused, a Miniflat is a room and Parlour with the usually conveniences. How much do you think Miniflats in that area would go for in 20years from now? Get out of that house. Go and build your own. No matter how prayerful you are, the rent will continue to increase.

3. To show that you’re wise – Only wise people build, you’re not rich until you’re living in your own house.

4. Building Materials are becoming costlier- If you’re waiting till a Bag of cement will become N100 before you build, then you may never build. Building materials are become more costly. Therefore, the earlier you build the better.

5. Landlords are difficult – You’re not in your Landlord’s house because he loves you; his relationship with you is purely financial. Don’t make the mistake of thinking he will not increase the rent. Asides that, there may be a lot of rules and regulations like; “You must not use a generators”, “You must come back before 9pm”, “You can’t park more than one car(if you get to park any at all)”, “You must not pound yam”, etc. A friend told me of how his Landlord said he must arrive home every day before 8pm or the gate would be locked and he mustn’t bring “strange” people (his friends) into the compound. To be totally free from any Landlord, you must build your house.

6. It is the best legacy for your children – The best you can leave for your children is a house; not cars, clothes or even money. Proverbs 13:22

7. To have a permanent house address – Until you build your own house, you have not gotten a house address. Tenants are known for moving from one house to another for one reason or the other, losing friends and breaking relationships in the process.

8. To stop living a life of fear – Most Tenants are always afraid and apprehensive towards the time rent will be due, while Landlords would be happy as pay day draws closer. Tenants are always afraid of three things:
(i) Payment of old rates : Some have to take loan, save extensively or even sell some properties so as to meet up with payment.

(ii) Increment: Tenants also live in the fear of an increment of the rent which is often done when a rent is due.

(iii) Quit notice: This is the most painful thing to a tenant, because quit notice is most often the Landlord’s tactics to increase the rent or for the tenant to leave the premises owing to a silly little misunderstanding mostly caused by envy; yes your Landlord can be envious of you, especially when you’re driving the latest camry and he’s just managing his outdated V-boot. Get back at him by building your own!

9. To fulfil one of life’s simplest goals – Getting married, having children, building a house are some of life’s major goals. Almost everybody achieves the first two(by choice or force), but few people achieve the last one. You will achieve it in Jesus name. Building a house is a must-to-be all round success.

10. Problems of Estate Agents – To Estate Agents reading this, I’m sorry I had to chip this in. Estate Agents are sometimes another source of problem to Tenants. They make things difficult for tenants. Some dupe prospective tenants while some collect more than 10% agency fee thereby cauusing tenants untold hardship. The only way to avoid the problem of Agents is to build your own house.

See You at the top!
