Election money na always cash deals. Who knows how much has been moved to other parts of the country without detection. ImperialYoruba: We know how its going to end. Couple of people will be arrested and investigation into their past will reveal a long list of money laundering activities.
This is money for political campaigns to buy votes in SE. No doubt! |

Hmm something fishy is smelling. Hope Union banks did not cook their books before coming out to claim ownership. Why did it take them so long to come claim the money? I mean if this is a routine cash movement interstate shouldn't EFCC know about it before hand. Well, Nigeria everything and anything is possible after all election is around the corner. Let's see how it unfolds. Naija my nigga |

Ok thanks I stand corrected. budaatum: With quite a lot of respect, you are mistaken! It is not the governments of USA, UK and France that provide homeless shelters. It is the people of those countries that provide homeless shelters through taxation in UK and France and through voluntary donations in USA.
If Nigeria wants what USA, UK and France have, they should do what USA, UK and France do to have it! |

Bro perhaps you didn't comprehend my statement. What I meant was that while homelessness is part and parcel of a big city ( even USA, UK and France have homeless people). It would make a lot of difference if the Nigerian Government can create homeless shelters. That's the difference between us and other advanced countries ( when it comes to tackling homelessness). Now no matter how much you hate the present Government, calling us a shit hole country is you agreeing that you are part of the problem. Unless of course you are not a Nigerian which I will have to tell you 'don't you anger me!' . I love my country and just like the phoenix we shall rise again. Ugosample: there are homeless shelters abroad
Which one does your $hithole country have?
It's the ills of a big city, true, but how the govt makes effort to alleviate the problem is what counts |

There are homeless people in UK too. That's the ills of a big city. I just wish our country can build shelters that will really help. |

jayfolarin: You sound like an intelligent person and your first paragraph says where it all went and still goes wrong... SOCIETY! That being said, there are no subconscious biases or prejudices that excuse racists and their behaviours. While society and certain upbringings may have instilled shitty behaviours in some, it is their responsibility and theirs alone to deal badly with others from such prejudiced positions.
There is no such thing as ignorantly being racist towards others. Thoughts might run through your head like you stated but it's left to you and only you to act on this thoughts towards others.
I deal and meet with people from different all over the world fairly regularly. I am even married to someone from a different continent and with a different religion. If I worked with prejudices that may have consciously or unconsciously been planted in my mind, this probably won't be the case. Notice how I didn't use the word 'race' there?
My point is, recent history of humans have been nothing short of disheartening but this doesn't excuse shitty people acting like shiit. Do not excuse their behaviour, DONT. Tolerating and accepting behaviours such as the one above has led and still leads to so many lost and destroyed lives.
Watch 'the birth of a nation' and you'd get an idea of the gritty horrors our forefathers had to go through in the hands of wicked and horrible racists and maybe you'd see why black Americans just can't fold their hands in complacency to acts such as the above. Honestly, I totally agree with you. I am not going to counter what you just said because you nailed it. I wouldn't claim to know how it actually feels to be profiled racially as I have never lived in the western world, though I have been to some African countries and I have experienced such similar bias because I'm Nigerian. My assertion though purely academical, just points to the fact that racism, tribalism or any form of prejudice stem from how social environment play a role in shaping how one learns about race. In this sense, my response builds on existing scholarship on how children develop understandings about race and racism in the context of family, place, early school experiences, elementary and secondary schools, and even religious houses But not to sound all gloom. I believe all hope is not loss though, this new generation hold more open-minded and tolerant viewpoints on race than previous generations and I know it can only get better. And yes, no form of prejudice should be tolerated. I'll be sure to check out 'The birth of Nation' reading through the synopsis. I know its going to be an interesting and enlightening watch. Sending out love and light to you. |

jayfolarin: Sometimes it helps? Explain to me please, I'm all ears Our society assigns value to groups of people. It is a process that is embedded in the consciousness of Caucasians( this is not even peculiar to just Caucasians) and impacted by centuries of bias. I believe most times people are unconsciously biased due to social stereotypes about certain groups of people that individuals form outside their own conscious awareness. Everyone holds unconscious beliefs about various social and identity groups, and these biases stem from one’s tendency to organize social worlds by categorizing. Racism are not always by racist . Do you know that you might also be unconsciously bias? You might see an almajiri and automatically believe he or she is prone to terrorism and your behaviour towards them reflects that innate bias in you. Without you even noticing that implicit bias but you might actually be a nice kind person. I don't believe it's right but societal norms are very hard to shake off. Even sometimes while being nice to someone we have subconsciously categorised them as less privileged hence the fake smiles and the forced niceness we portray just to be politically correct. It's just my two cents about understanding how racial profiling works... perhaps you have a better explanation. I'm all ears. |
