u9052: Transcripts..

Me : Good morning

VO: Good morning, I see you're going to the USA for a masters programme at SIUE

Me: Yes ma

VO: so why SIUE?

Me: Well basically because after extensive research and search on the Internet I discovered that SIUE stands out in her Geographical studies especially the Geographical Information System programme which I intend to specialize on so as to acquire skills that will help me in trying to solve some of Nigeria's environmental challenges especially in the Niger-Delta where I'm from.

VO: Ok (starts typing on the internet)

VO: what course did you study as your first degree?

ME: Geography and Regional Planning

VO: what university?

ME: University of Benin

VO: where?

ME: here in Nigeria, Benin city, Edo state

VO: do you have your academic results here?

Me: yea sure (hands over transcripts to her)

VO: I see from your I-20 you got a Graduate Assistantship position

ME: yes I did

VO: did you write any specialized test?

Me: yes I wrote Test Of English Language as a Foreign Language

Vo: how much does your GA cover?

ME: it's a full tuition waver, covers my tuition fees

VO: what does your parents do?

ME: my parents are civil servants, but they aren't sponsoring my trip to the US. My uncle is: he works at National Content Management and Development Board which is a subsidiary of NNPC

VO: ok, you can get on visa on Thursday at this address and there's this orientation coming up soon, make sure you attend, information is contained on this handbill and you will need your I-20 to get your visa, so here you go

ME: ok, thank you. Have a nice day
Congrats!!!!
I was also approved this morning... I think I heard her talking about the orientation.

All the best!!!

juntod: If your mother has enough money in her account, I will suggest you front her as your sponsor and further explain to the VO that upon discussing with your employer (airline) about your decision to resign and further your education, they were very impressed and offered to take full responsibility as they will be needing your services after your degree (This hammers on home tie as well).
Im using my mom as my primary sponsor...
Please note that I do not work in an airline company,i work in my mom's company. The airline sponsorship I got was just a venture I tried and it payed off tremendously.
I got that sponsorship as part of the company's local content initiative where they help young and aspiring pilots who will eventually work in their company after the training.

bimbola85: I advised him based on the information he supplied and forgot to ask him whose bank statement he sent for the issuance of his I-20.

I decided not to say more when I've seen enough people advising him. I'm surprised you even quoted me when the op himself didn't.
Bimbola no vex ooo
These things can be complicating some times.
My mom's statement is what I've been using since for processing all my documents. It wasn't until recently the airline company decided to sponsor and give me a job when I return.
Please any inputs or suggestions or contributions or clarifications will be appreciated. Thank You!!!

juntod: Good idea. Now I am beginning to think along that line. I am sure personal funds could mean family funds for some schools. Stewee just clarify with your school.
Done That!
They say it means it could either my mom or my dad that's Sponsoring.

Thank You Guys So Much!!!
TravelRe: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part5 by Stewee(m): 3:04pm On Jul 02, 2014
zeezahbee: Don't bother yourself stewee, some schools write personal fund and it means its fund from you or your family not your government or company. My i20 also says personal fund and I was scared because its my dad that is sponsoring me but the school said that's how it should be. Email your school about it and make a print out of their response to the embassy that's what I did tho VO didn't ask about it but if your school can send another i20 no wahala but I doubt if they would. So relax
Thanks dear!
I contacted school and they told me its okay that that's how it's suppose to be since its my mom that's sponsoring.... All I have to do now during my interview is to also tell them that and airline here in Nigeria is also co sponsoring and offering me a job after my training.
Thanks for your Inputs!!!

domex007: Bro, I will advice to pick their number from their website, load like 500 on your phone and call them, complain to them instead of waititng for them to repl your mails.. They often forget to reply..
I tried it yesterday and it worked.
Start calling them from 2.00 pm nigerian time.
Good luck
@domex007
Bro im on it. I've made several calls already. Its too early, I was asked to call back in1 andd a half hours.

Thanks for your inputs!!!
TravelRe: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part5 by Stewee(m): 12:23pm On Jul 02, 2014
slimmy05: Stewee, you need to relax. Don't rush things. You better learn to call your school and note the time difference.

You need to show them as well you're serious by calling. Which bank statement did you send to them? You need to take some chill pill and don't rush things. You're begining to sound consfused. What's wrong in your mum sponsoring you? Why not use the company as where you can work when you return to Nigeria.

You better act smart and not try to involve agents telling you poo and making you confused. Don't rush things. Take your time and do the right thing.
@Slimmy05
Honestly im not rushing anything. I'm just amazed I didn't realise this mistake sooner.
I'm well aware of out time difference that why I said I couldn't reach my admission officer at the moment. Best believe I've reached him on the other channels available.

I sent my moms' statement and it's just strange why they'll say I'm self sponsoring.
About the Airline also sponsoring me,it was just a venture I tried and it worked with tremendous result. And yes the airline have given me a letter to say that they will sponsor and give me a job after my training and return back to Nigeria.
My admission process has been entirely me, no agent is involved with this. Ultimately I think it's God that's helping me by pointing this out. My i20 expires on the 30th. Will ask them to expend it in the next one they're gonna send. What I'm just uneasy about is them telling me to pay for another i20 when it's clearly their mistake.
My mom sponsoring me is fine whether or not the airline wants to sponsor as well.

stevecrun: you don't only send an e-mail and relax..You follow up with a call, call your international students office by 10am,their time.
Goodluck.
I've used all the means available to contact my school...It's still too early to call. Don't worry I'm on top of it.
TravelRe: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part5 by Stewee(m): 10:44am On Jul 02, 2014
juntod: You have a big problem here. Kindly request for another I-20 from your school. Your I-20 cannot indicate personal funds and you are presenting mum and airline to the VO. At least get an I-20 that has your mum (Family) and then explain the airline sponsorship verbally to the VO.
Mehn, this oversea shit is getting very annoying. I've emailed my school, havnt gotten a reply. Its all very tiring.
Lemme hear from school then i'll know what to do.
Thanks @juntod

I am not a staff.
...Working on that.
Thanks!!!

stevecrun: yes go..with all your mom's financial document.
Most times, documents are not requested..what they need is your word of mouth.
Please, produce no documents when not asked to..
Goodluck..Chief
Ok boss!
Thanks!
TravelRe: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part5 by Stewee(m): 10:08pm On Jul 01, 2014
domex007: @stewee,
Before going for your interview, you must first check ur i-20 for the source of funding on it (if its company funds or family funds that's stated on it)
If its company funds, than you can edit the details on your i-20 and use ur mum as co-sponsor, but if its family funds, I advice you ur mum as original sponsor and use the company as co-sponsor..
I won't want you to make the same mistake as I did in my first interview..
Family funds was stated on my i-20 but I went with company funding to the embassy..
This is my advice to you..
Goodluck
My I-20 says "students personal funds" although it was my mom's statement I sent to school.
On the letter from the airline it states that they will fully sponsor for my training for the duration of my training.
Will it still be okay to use my mom as my primary sponsor and the airline as backup sponsor.

...what do you guys think?
TravelRe: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part5 by Stewee(m): 7:36am On Jul 01, 2014
stevecrun: @Stewee,i think the airline company should have it in writing that they are willing and able to sponsor your training in the United States;then grant you an employment upon your return to Nigeria.
That's a great home-tie and then you should use your mom as a co-sponsor.
All the best on the 7th of July.
They have it in writing saying all of that on their letterhead.
Using my mom as a co-sponsor means i'll go with her statement of account and other documents yeh?

Thank You So Much for your Inputs.

Hello NLers,

I'm confused about something...
I'm going to the US for flight training.
I have my visa interview coming up on the 7th of July after an initial refusal in may this year. Now the DS 160 I filled has my Mom as my sponsor but last last week an Airline company agreed to sponsor me and give me a job when I return.

I Do not have all this info in the DS160 I filled and submitted. Can I fill another one with this new development with the company as my sponsor.

Or should I use them as a co sponsor and still go with my mom's statement of account.

Or should I just go for interview with the DS160 I already filled an submitted.

Urgent responses need please.
