Rastaforce: Transcript for interview on 21st of July 2014

Vo: said something buh u couldn't hear buh I didn't wanna ask so I pretended as if I heard him
Me: I wrote gre and Ielts (I guessed he asked for my standardized tests)

Vo: no i mean why Did I choose tamuk

Me: I said ok. I chose tamuk majorly because of their highly rated faculty of engineering which is ranked 42nd in the while of US and 3rd in Texas. And that they also offer an option if fibre optics telecommunications in Thier electrical engineering department and this is an area u would really like to explore because of the fact that their is a while lot of fibre optics projects going in presently in Nigeria with paucity of professionals in the field and this is a guarantee that I will get a great job on returning to Nigeria

Vo: why are you switching from computer to electrical engineering.

Me: technically, the major diff btw elect and computer is that in elect , there are courses in power and electricity generation that is not present in computer and then in computer there gee courses on digital logic circuit and devices that are bit Present in elect curriculum,
But asides that computer and elect have majority of Their courses in common and telecommunications is one of those things they have in common. And I will be majoring I telecomms on getting to tamuk so I am still within the scope if computer engineering
( the guy nods head and said ok)

Vo: who's gonna sponsor me

Me: my uncle

Vo; why is it that you Nigerians always have rich uncles.

Me: fear catch me small buh I conpose
I said he is actually my uncle , the only brother my mum has and he has been my major sponsor throughout my undergraduates and he promised me if in able to graduate with a good result he will sponsor my masters degree in the us . And that this is a decision that has been made while I was still and undergraduate. So it's more like a conditional promise.

Vo: what does your father do?

Me: he's a poultry farmer

Vo: so u had a good undergraduate result?
May I see ur certufucate.

Me: I gave him

Vo; saw that u had a 2:1 buh he couldn't authenticate it because I laminated it.
(So please if you haven't already; don't laminate ur certificate oo)

Vo: may I see ur WAEC

Me: I search This WAEC I no see am and he dey there.

Vo: ok bring all your documents lemme see

Me : gave him everything even with envelope

Na that time hin come see my WAEC himself
He saw my three three statements of accounts, my gre and ielts result , and everything wen my DOB.

He now returned everything to me and started typing in the system

At this point I was scared and I dey wait for his final decison.

Vo: can u please help me check if I gave u your I:20 , I'm supposed to sign on it .

Me : searched through my docs and I gave him.

Vo: signed it returned it with a white paper and said the magic words

Pick ur your visa in three days time at that address.

Me : thanks you sir

God is wonderful ooo

Na my first time ooo
He Signed your i20huh

I hope you have a certificate from CAC to back up this business and also an annual tax returns certificate from IRS that declares your 550K per month. If not, na story oh. Them nor go believe you lie lie.
If he looks and acts the part,he might get away with it even without the VO asking for those documents.
I'm just too certain the VO will be interested about his Wife and Kid.

Whatever you fill on your ds160 be ready to defend it.
Your first few questions from the VO like Why the school? And why the US or even why dint you pursue this at your undergraduate level...These are the questions that will get you that visa. a cover letter too from an airline company is a big plus. You could take out the NYSC bit and put something cogent.

Your delivery is very important. That's why I'm encouraging you to do more research about your school.

teddyrain: Slimmy, just know that every denial is a blessing in disguise. I knew how I felt when I got denied last April.
See let me say the truth to you. It does not matter what you say or not say, when its time for your success dem no born any VO well to deny you.
I went to the embassy yesterday without statement of account, yet I was not asked for it.
The VO never allowed me to explain anything, to the extent that he said "why did you choose a liberal arts college" and like say I use juju he now said "forget don't worry, just go and sit down while I recall you". And on me coming back he handed me my pick up letter.
Even when I was talking he was not interested in what I was saying, like "I'm here to give you your visa but just blab, let it seem like an interview".
Immediately after I was interviewed the whole network went bad, but after my own has already been recorded for approved visas.
Till now I'm still wondering what happened because everything was smooth and exceptional. I was at the back of the large mammoth crowd but how I overtook and became the first to be interviewed and issued a visa, is still a mystery. God did it for me.

I know I did something extraordinary from what others do spiritually, I have a secret to tell of how it looked like jazz.
If anyone cares to know, contact me I will tell you for free. (For christians only)

Slimmy it is well. Your next try is final.
Thanks idazbawz. I'm planning to leave by early August with either Delta or British airways.
To all who wished me well before and after, may God reward you all according to your hearts.
Amen.
Amerinancy have you booked yet, let's travel together. I will be coming to your place on Friday. I hope no dogs? shocked
LOL
Your interview was indeed some divine miracle. I remember when I got my own I kept on wondering where the words came from. As I just stepped out of the door, my slow and confident walk increased into a brisk one...then into a jog...then a sprint...I raced all the way to where my brother parked...Despite the AC being on full blast, I was drenched in my own sweat.

If its the spirituality...If you hear my own, even me couldn't believe it was me doing all of it. Personal rehearsals usually turned into prayer sessions... Don't let me continue.

All slimmy needs to do is to soak himself in some major prayers.

slimmy05: I realy do not get the last two paragraphs. Are you saying its the fault of the applicant or the VO, are you saying I should wait for 5years to apply for masters? Are you saying I should go burn down my school cos of a rule that existed before I got into primary school? Or are you saying administrative processing can't be applied? Let's not get ourselves wrong here. Are you saying the VO's judgement is 100%? Sometimes its just mood and stretching the ineptitude of ones university to affect the student or applicant aint fair on their part. I feel such cases can be verified. I still have my nysc cert, transcript etc. You need an open mind to know one with a genuine case. Having the mind that all Nigerians are criminals aint fair.
Be easy Slimmy.
Sometimes we just don't know exactly why applicants are denied.
When you meets those once that deny, you can say the world and they still won't give you. I think that's the case here. Don't beat yourself up bro. You are a champion any day. That day would come when your visa will come through.

VO: U 're RexNdubest
Me: Yes sir
VO: U going to Upenn for ur master's in Elect Engr?

Me: ok (passes it)
VO: where did u do ur underG program
Me: Here in Naija, UNN to be precise
VO: ok, can I see ur certificate
Me: sure (passes it)
Vo: so, why Upenn?
Me: (I started by normal Nairaland style, though I wasn't reciting o). I researched extensively about universities that 're good in my field and decided to choose Upenn. Upenn is more research oriented than every other school I got offer(admission) from with cutting edge research facilities. Its 6:1 student -faculty ratio is one of the lowest in US... VO cut's in
VO: which other school did u apply to?
Me: I applied to UC Berkeley, Columbia Univ, Imperial College, Univ of Edinburgh and UNN. My app was rejected by UCB and Columbia univ but I got admitted by other schools
VO: Did u write Gre?
Me: yes ( while I was passing it, he saw my IELTS and requested for it too)
VO: Hw u gonna pay?
Me: I'm on a scholarship from the Federal Govt of Nig
VO: Scholarship from Federal Govt, never heard of that before. Any document for that?
Me: yes (pass my award letter & letter of sponsorship)
VO: Looks at the documents. Ur visa 's been approved, go to DHL V.I on Friday. Circle V.I ( but I chose Isolo). Remember the 30 days rule bla bla bla...
Me: Echoing, yes sir, thank sir, yes sir,... pack my document waka

ME: gud morning sir
VO: gud morning
VO: u are going to california state university, fresno
ME: yes sir
VO: where is ur SAT cos I can see csu requires dat
ME: gave him d printout.
VO: No, where is the one dat was mailed to u?
ME: I didn't receive any mailed docs from collegeboard.
VO: when did u take the Test?
ME: May 3rd
VO: how come did u now apply to CSu cos dey require for SAT, dat means u took a wrong way in applying
ME: No, (cuts in) he didn't allow me to say anytin.... He was just typing all tru our conversation
VO: I can see dat u came here early dis year with concord uni, Y did you change d skul?
ME: the last time I came for interview, the VO frowned at the skul wen I mentioned it to him.... So, I had to go back home and did a proper research and I discovered dat concord uni as a low rank

Note: the VO didn't agree with all wat I ws saying cos he's after d original SAT score. We almost fight sef cos he was d one dat denied me early dis year and also denied me again today..... I'm just fed up now.... I want the house to advice me on what to do
Wow!
This your interview ended before it even started.
Didn't I see it somewhere in the US website that the same VO is not allowed to interview an applicant twice? ...I remember seeing that somewhere.
Anyways I'm so sorry for your refusal.

You SAT scorecard has to be resolved, mot sure how you're gonna resolve that though but I'm sure others here can help you out.

I can imagine how you feel but trust me...You have to be persistent.

You'll get it eventually... Tell God about it and ask Him to help you resolve it.

teddyrain: Thanks to every one who have celebrated with me God bless you all.

Please future applicants, I would like to give you guys some tips

1. Be positive (when you get to the counter, smile and greet them)

2.Look into their eyes while talking (please don't do it like a competetion oh! Just look into their eye, pause for 4 seconds before answering. think before you talk, please don't let anxiety make you talk before yo think)

3.Please be audible

4.Please don't memorize answers ( pick out your points and explain them naturally, you will be tense free.)
For example, if your school is one of the best in a particular program, know about that program and explain like if a friend asked you. Just be natural, it really helped me, when he threw that dart at me "Now you are giving me memorized answers" I still composed myself and because I knew about the school too well to memorize, I wasn't off guard.

5.Don't sound like a robot (even if you crammed a particular critical answer, try to make it look like its not.

6.Be calm (don't argue)

7.Don't bring out documents when not asked except cases where its critical, but use them as a supporting proof)

8.Say the truth (or at least make it sound convincing and in order not to screw it up, don't even lie)

9.My trick ( I actually have a baby face lol! But please use body language properly. If you are talking and explaining something open your palms, it shows you are truthful and have nothing to hide. Please smile, speak louder and act confident but not too much, they re humans too and understand we can be a bit nervous too)

10.Be calm positive and attentive

All the best. but before all these can work make sure you have insured yourself to God first.

I have some spiritual formulars to help you get your visa. Contact me and I will give you 3 mind blowing techniques for sure visa, if you are a christian.
Mind Blowing huh?...Lmao!
Need I mention that that counter can be very awkward especially for tall people.

Intending applicants should prepare and prepare well. Ask questions when you're not sure.
I want to liken Interviews to Swimming.... once you get underwater(before a VO), You need to stay calm and concentrate and take does strokes one at a time. You have to keep telling yourself you can't drown.

teddyrain: Chapter 1
I want to use this medium to praise God almighty for this marvelous thing he has done for me. It is not enough to express my gratitude in words but just to praise him and serve him with all my life.

I could remember actually posting "Visa approved transcript coming soon" but guys, the truth is that as at then I have not actually gotten my visa, but claiming by faith.
My visa interview is the sweetest nairaland has ever read. I call it "Divine appointment"
I will never forget yesterday being sunday 20th july, 2014. As I approached into the church auditorium of the Redeemed church of God which I visited, not the church I go, the pastor said "there is a particular person here people have ridiculed you but God said I should tell you that tomorrow you will smile" I quickly stood up and shouted a thunderous Amen! Which made the whole church turn and was like WTF! But I knew what I was doing. I kept on professing faith, claiming I have gotten my visa.

Chapter 1
It was blissful this early morning at exactly 2:45am as I woke up, as I was scheduled for 6:30am. I have been claiming Gods promises and confessing I have my visa, while looking in the mirror as I dressed up in just a simple while shirt. My dad said "hey boy I know you aint a kid but I'm going to the embassy with you this time. They must give you that visa" I smiled and said its okay. And we left.

Chapter 2

We got to the embassy around 5:10am and saw some few people already there. I plugged in earphones into my ear and started playing cecee winans and then "fighting temptation" then frank edwards.
In no less time they started making announcements about immigrants and non immigrants, Amerinancy called me on phone and I asked her which school and to my awe, she was going to my school too in illinois. I then asked her where she was and she said on the way for 9am I wished her luck and I quickly gave my dad my phone and marched forward. I was the fourth person to be cleared, while others being novice were looking 4 stapler to pin their documents. As an experienced guy denied while hunting 4 a CC on the 14th of April this year, I knew all the procedures and I even removed my belt before even sitting down.
They came to the first row and picked five of us, including one indian guy applying for f1 from Nigeria.
We moved into the embassy proper and we got to the "remove belt etc" and because my belt was out already, I just dropped it together with my documents and moved over the search machine and sharply picked up my belt sharply and wore it back, while other guys were busy claiming fine boy wearing belt LoL!
I maneuvered the two guys before me and I became second to step into the consulate arena. I pressed the "A" button and picked No A002. Went in, submitted documents and also did bio-metrics, then sat down for interview proper, while other were coming in.
While waiting, I looked back and saw a lady carrying "Liberty admission packet" I then remembered that "Goldenchic" once asked a question and also posted a pre transcript stating it as one of the best christian school.
I then said excuse me miss, are you a nairalander? And she said yes. We exchanged pleasantries and she told me slimmy is one handsome slim boy and I told him to message him that "if I catch am eh" LMAO!
Just as we were speaking my number flashed on the screen. What I'm about to say in the next chapter, will put I you in awe. When God wants to give you favour even the consular or any gadget there will obey you.

Chapter 3
This is so sweet to be an interview
As my number popped up at window 5, I moved there and a young man in his mid thirties was there

VO: why do you want to go monmouth college?

Me: asides from being ranked as one of the best liberal art colleges by USnews and best in midwest by Princeton reviews, this college has one of the best accounting programs of any liberal art college...... VO Cuts in

VO: now you are giving me a memorized speech. What made you choose this college?

Me: one advantage about this college is that you are allowed to double major...... VO cuts in

VO: why did you change school?

Me: well I was denied last time....VO cuts in

VO: yea I Can see that here.

Me: can I continue?

VO: sure

Me: I changed school because the VO adviced me to because the CC was not really good and then I was a novice then but now I have done a proper research and I have chosen the best school that suits me.

VO: I can see you are on scholarship?

Me: yes

VO: how did you get this scholarship?

Me: the school contacted my high school, and interacted with my principal, he was also asked of a recommendation letter, also I wrote a personal essay and they reviewed my transcripts

VO: can I see your WAEC?

ME: (passes it to him)

VO: (looking at it like say shit dey inside and then uses a blue light to check the authenticity) okay do you have your scholarship letter?

ME: yes (passes it)

VO: (glances through) okay who is sponsoring you?

ME: my father

VO: what does he do?

ME: He is a successful businessman into ********* and also a marketer and distributor of ********

VO: OH! I see. You have been volunteering?

ME: yea

VO: why have you not been in school since 2009 you finished

ME: (forms emotional face) well I have always wanted to study in US to get the best education but after high school my dad had a financial challenge which made me unable to attend college, but in order to still keep my dreams alive I decided to work as a volunteer worker in vogues studio, a recording studio where I worked in the marketing department. After I left there and I have been working in bleep ent Nig LtD to enhance my knowledge in business.

The shake able miracle then happened.
Immediately after interviewing me, their network tripped off.

Goldenchic told me to calm down that I should not shake

20 mins later they resumed and my number popped up, only for the guy to say those golden words "you will need this pick up letter to get your visa bla bla bla, and returned my i20 and said I will need it at the point of entry and then said good luck safe journey to the states.
