Mjseun: Visa interview at Lagos Consulate 6:30am appointment time.

Got there 6:05am. Did all accreditation and was set for interview. The interview didn't start until 8:15am as a result of their system not coming up. Lol

At some minutes 9pm my number A025 popped up (windows 2). And was attended to by a smallish white guy with his cup of tea. Interview goes thus:

VO: good morning
Me: good morning (I no fit put Sir, coz d guy small die, I'm pretty sure I'm older than him) smiles
VO: why are you going to UofF?
Me: based on my research on the Internet and after reading a lot of reviews about UFL I decided I was going to the uni. I'm going there coz have heard of the good deeds, high quality research and teaching and UFL is highly ranked amongst other US universities.
VO: where did you get this info?
Me: Washington magazine, US news and World report. The vo nodding his head.
VO: which other Uni falls in same category with UFL?
Me: UFL,Uof Arizona........ but UFL is highly ranked than the schls I mentioned
VO: so why UFL
Me: UFL is ranked 2nd after Cornell Uni in my area of research.
VO: what's your area of interest
Me: Agronomy and Crop Science (Plant Molecular and Cellular Biology option)
VO:did you write any test?
Me: yes, GRE and gave it to him.
VO: U are being sponsored by the Federal Gov of Nigeria (TETFUND) thru your work place.
Me: yes
VO: any letter of sponsorship?
Me:yes, gave it to him
VO: flipped thru
VO: how long are you staying in the US?
Me: 4years or so, going for a PhD program
VO: oh! So what's your dissertation all about?
Me: epigenetic and genetic study of some Nitrogen fixing bacteria associated with.......... actually going to work on biofuel plant.
VO: your visa is approved, handed a white paper to me. go to so so and so to get it on Thursday
Me: thank you and I did a sign of yes with my right thumb to him.

Packed by stuff and bounced out saying thank you Jesus continuously

I just want to blessed God for the journey so far. Have being telling God that I must drop my good transcript before we get to page 500 of this season 5 and he actually answered my prayers. His indeed a ever faithful God.

As for many of you still going for ur interview may the favour of God go with you in Jesus name. Go get your visa.

You had no trouble convincing the VO you knew what you where going there to do.
When VO's sense this, it's almost impossible for a denial.

Prospective students hitting the embassy soon should learn something from this and all other transcripts.

We encourage applicants to read this thread from the beginning to as to have an understanding (to an extent) of what it takes to convince a VO that you want to study in the USA.
It starts from your DS 160.
These VO's have heard it all. It pains me a lot when I hear applicants tell VO's "Their curriculum is well aligned with my career bla bla bla". The transcripts are posted here to help you find your own words and make it personal.
You have to be able to tell people go to hell an they'll look forward to the trip.

MsNas: Students? Environment? Academics? All time low? Lies. You probably spent 100L or PDSP at the school, what else were you expecting? BTW, you're the first person I've heard saying Lautech Academics sucks. What year were you there? Except you were there in the early 90s which was when the school was first founded, I might say the student life sucked then. But 2000s, hell NO.

Was in that school in 2008...
I dint say their academics suck but the way they taught and stuff sure sucks to me.
100L was enough eye opener for me.
Even in 2008, social life in that school was almost Zero.
The only way to ease out stress was through the Church...
Big props to all of you that went there.

I couldn't stay in that school...
The environment, students, student life, academics and health was in its all time lows during my stay.
The only thing that sustained me was Spirituality. I was closest to God than any other time in my entire life.
I learnt it's all changed now.

I ran for dear life!!!

olumide098: Advice for guyz...If you want to pay for flight..make sure you have substantial amount of money in your ATM card, try as much as possible to check website frequently so that u can get the cheapest flight..we do not have to be wasting money for flight nah all bcoz we are going to yankee....Imagine Prices don rise again this morning...see update...

I paid 201k for a 1way ticket to Miami.

chikenjoku1yah: i was denied visa on d 9th of July this month,,the 3rd time in Abuja, i have shown my first n second transcripts on the trend and i was corrected n fortified by d gurus to go bk. drawing reference from my second interview on April few months ago for fall.many said i was denied visa d second time because i applied early for falls after been denied the first time in abuja on the 31st of December for spring,so i had to defer my admission to fall. during d second interview i got every question very correctly till she asked me to give her bk my i20 again d second time,,asking me when i was suppose to be in skool i told her my i 20 said on or before the 11th of august 2014,after a while she passed me d refusal paper document smilingly,,,on the third interview 9th of july few days bk.d VO was seriously holding hands on d nature of my appointment scheduling she was saying i scheduled appntmt on december,april n july she said why d close proximity,,i tried to explain but she wouldnt want to listen, i dnt no wat d last interviewer wrote on my profile and shes trying to hold hands there. she couldnt allow me utter a word she bearly asked of iELT I told her my skool required TOEFL and is in my i20 and i presented it to her she said why didnt i write IELT,,I Boldly n angrily told her my skool required toefl n she passed d document saying she wish me luck in my education or sometime,, PLS GUYS WAT DO I DO,,DO I GO BK? IS THERE ANY GOOD CHANCES FOR ME? OR DO I STILL DEFER MY ADMISSON?

I had some issues when I was filling my DS160 to so I just abandoned it an filled a fresh one... I then almost made one silly mistake...I dint update the new one on my profile, I only spotted it the night bfore my interview...I almost had a heart attack. I sharply dusted the black and white God knows what year printer and printed a new one.
