Politics / Re: GEJ Travels To France To Meet With Investors by stormm: 2:27pm On Nov 27, 2011
@ Post,

Absolute rubbish. Another money wasting trip. When Dayokanu calls him Retardeen, I use to have my doubts until now. The economy of Europe is in shambles, Italy's debt just got downgraded to 'junk', Sarkozy and Merkel are too busy trying to re-build their economies. And that is the time our clueless GEJ went shopping for investors angry angry angry

The downside to this policy would be having a lame duck in power close to 7 or 8th years in power.

My point. No sense of urgency or competition. He gets in just to loot till he leaves for his next 'paddy'

Politics / Re: A Look Inside Nigeria's Floating Slum by stormm: 8:55am On Nov 13, 2011
The coastal/riverine people are mainly limited by culture to explore other opportunities available within the polity. Their trade and exigencies confine their habitat. Yes, while I agree that the govt is not doing enough to address improvement in their standard of living, examples abound of govt attempts and their rejection of such.

Business / Re: Failure To Remove Fuel Subsidy Will Lead To Economy Collapse – GEJ by stormm: 2:56pm On Oct 24, 2011
Gbawe:

Spot on !!! What of our ridiculously high recurrent expenditure and the cost of maintaining this worthless democracy? I.e 74% of annual budget? Will that not lead to "economy collapse" also? GEJ should just admit that he is weak and unable to bravely initiate cuts precisely where cuts are badly required. Rather, he will prefer to put the burden of "sacrifice" on long-suffering Nigerians instead of taking away from those who have far too much already i.e his hideously bloated AGIP buddies.

GEJ is not ready to reduce his salary and perks, yet he wants to remove the 'phantom subsidy' that they've been removing since 1986. Na wa o!

Beaf, I wan laff! So the militants who live in the creeks are Lagosians? Or the creeks are beautiful cities  grin grin grin grin
Politics / Re: The Monumental Waste Called Delta State by stormm: 8:01pm On Oct 22, 2011
@ Gbawe, na wa o. Really got to commend your style. Can't understand Beaf one word. The thread is about a pervasive lifestyle of waste that is gradually becoming a culture and the man keeps ranting about Aregbesola and Tinubu as if his livelihood depends on that. SSMH  sad sad sad sad

If the governor and his cronies can take up more than 60% of the pages in a newspaper for an inconsequential event as his 57th birthday, its not impossible for him to declare a public holiday as part of the activities.

I maintain that most of these pictures are actually of coastal areas inhabited by the Ijaw people of the SS. Its people like Beaf who will shout human rights on the pages of newspapers when the govt wants to demolish such illegal settlements
Politics / Re: The Monumental Waste Called Delta State by stormm: 4:40pm On Oct 22, 2011
@Beaf,

These pictures are actually those of 'nomadic'  Ijaws whose habitation is mostly the coastal areas. Frustrated by the years of inept leadership in the SS, most had migrated to the costal parts of Lagos to continue their fish and 'ogogoro' trades. Images such as these are common in SS states.

BTT, are you saying even serving commissioners are private individuals? The point is while Nigerians are agitating against fuel subsidy removal, our hopelessly insensitive governors and their cronies will flaunt their ill-gotten wealth in our face.
Politics / The Monumental Waste Called Delta State by stormm: 7:41am On Oct 22, 2011
In today's Vanguard alone, Guv Uduaghan of Delta State had 41 Full pages of congratulatory ads for his 57th birthday. The total number of pages in that edition is 72 pages.

http://www.vanguardngr.com/epaper/2011/october/22102011/index.html

What a monumental waste of inadequate resources amidst glaring poverty, administrative incompetence, political ineptitude padded with palliatives plus an endless stream of negatives. Pathetic fellow.
