Just take it easy bro. Either you were having a bad day before rider came along or you need better people-management skills.
There's a 75% chance that U'll know if the trip is gonna end well or not by your conversation with the rider b4 pickup.

I wasn't having a bad day bro.

Yesterday was somehow for me.
Picked this Indian man from his house to igboefon area and the person he was going to see paid, it was actually a card trip. So he said I should wait for him to take him back, I waited for them to finish the short meeting. So they ask me if they can request me again I told them to give me the same amount, so the host paid. This guy took me round the whole town and I didn't complain because he was promising me heaven and earth. For my mind I don get better customer, he started telling me many funny things. Like how he goes to spar and they shave every shavables on his body. That they even shave his blokos, next he ask me if I have a girlfriend I said no. He asked me I manage to survive I said as long as I am making money I don't car about women. He said he thought I do boys, I told him I can't try it. I asked him I will leave all the fresh and juicy babes we have everywhere and be doing guys because I already know why he was asking me these questions. He started looking at my body and he said I am tall and have flat tummy that I must be big down there. I said I am not big,
grin
next he asked like what's my size I said well it's average. He said I should give him example with my hand that he wants to know the size at this point I ignored him. We got to his house he showed me his car and house help and told me to visit anytime that I am free.
Chaii, nothing I no go see
grin
Lol!

With all due respect, if this is how the convo went, it's all shades of wrong. The customer is always a customer and he could have been better managed without literally shutting him down. My opinion.
I'll agree with you to an extent but overall, it all boils down to getting to understand the person sitting beside you. No matter how much I tried, he'll always show himself. You'll always be an idiot or a fool for not agreeing with him no mater how calm you are in trying to talk nicely.

The convo would have been sweeter if he were drunk. I would have handled him well.

Talking about riders with bad attitude...

Some weeks back, I picked a rider from ICM going to Dolphin Estate. I was listening and humming to one of my best tracks of Lucky Dube when the guy broke the silence with, "Do you know Morgan Freeman?"

Me: Yes I do
Rider: I saw a picture of him with earrings

I was like, so?

"Why should he?" Was his response...
Me: He's a movie star and its allowed for him to look the way he likes, what if they ain't earrings but just studs for the photoshoot?
Rider: Why?
I just ignored the question and faced my front...
After about 5mins,
Rider: What song are you listening to?
Me: Lucky Dube
Rider: Who is he?
Me: You don't know Lucky Dube?
Rider: I don't know him.
Me: Well, I can't help U here.
Rider: Tell me about him
Me: Sorry not today.
Rider: This is what I hate about Nigerians, you can't engage them in a simple conversation without them being and acting stupid. Damn.
Me: Nigerians?
Rider: Yes!
Rider: It's rude and I can report you for not responding to my conversation.
Me: (already pissed but try hard to suppress it) Guy, I decide which question(s) deserves a response.
So for you info, I don't respond to stupid conversations...
Rider: You are a fool!
We were getting close to his destination, so I just ignored him till we got there, I ended the trip and he said he wants to transfer, and I said ohk but you have to sit here till I get my alert o...he said OK.

While we were waiting for alert, I turned to him and said...I am sorry for you...look at U, bitterness written all over your miserable face...so please, get your miserable self out of my car and go drown in your misery somewhere else.
Rider: Idiot! What if I don't?
Me: I'll take you to the nearest police station and I'll make sure you pay me for time wasted.
He just hissed and got out reluctantly...
I reported him and gave him 1star.
I'm still waiting for taxify to call me and tell me rubbish...maybe nah dis one I go take leave their yeye platform.

Thinking of taking up the Uber/Taxify driving challenge.
Reading about different stories about partners and drivers, I keep wondering why we can't have things done the right way in this part of the continent. Though I don't have the amount of cash that can purchase a car at the moment but will definitely source for who will give out his/her car to me on a weekly report basis.
Have been following this thread for months waiting for a day I will have my car to out on the platform, gathering info from professionals in the industry.
Will be willing to take up either Toyota Corolla, Hyundai Elantra or Honda City for a weekly remittance of N30k, will work towards making advance payment.

I'll be taking responsibility of repair below N5,000 and also will contribute (20%) towards regular servicing of the car @ Gazzuzz workshop ONLY using Mobil Extended performance Oil with required Oil filter.

Car must have a comprehensive insurance

I won't be dealing with fleet management operators ( Partner ONLY)

I have a verifiable guarantor.

These are my kind terms and mechanical analysis must be carried out on the car to ascertain the condition of such car before taking it.
It's like you are on the wrong thread...check the title again to be sure

No, it doesn't count. As long as You arrived at pickup location and waited for more than 5mins.

LIKE WHICH PLATFORM?
Here lies the answer to your qwesssion.

"We don't need to contact oga taxi for promo for any rides . It's simple . Our next move is to go online on Taxify and when you get request on Taxify ,just tell the rider that we are on strike on taxify and if the rider have oga taxi app on his or her phone then we can drive down to his or her location . This is a systematic way to shut down taxify completely . With this rider's will have no option that to ask you to start coming . Once you get to the rider location ,download oga taxi app on the rider phone to request u and start the ride. So ,we can use Taxify app to locate rider only and use oga taxi app do the trip

Might not be in full support of the reason for the strike, buh am with you guys, Taxify done too Mumu, the only compensation we get for our time and insult we receive all day was taken away.
That time I got blocked, I went to there office to reason with them, that it doesn't make sense that, I don't ever ever reject card trip, they should check my record, the customer care rep was just running her mouth up and down telling me that Taxify doesn't lie, i got tired and didn't want to argue with her, so I left. STRIKE on brothers. Please we need new app asap, so we can start diverting riders to that one.
The problem here is this our habit of not trusting our indigenous platforms, hence the solution to this problem is simple...

...just port to a willing and ready indigenous platforms

We driver-partners have unanimously decided to embark on a sit at home warning strike today Monday 26th Nov. 2018. This is to pass a message to your company that we are not in support of the way we are treated in the e-transport industry. The recent reduction in fare has not been taken in at all by us, and that is the reason for our SIT AT HOME WARNING STRIKE.
The followings are what we want the management to work on:

OUR GRIEVANCES
Note that we are graduates and we did not go to school on credit. Therefore we deserve better treatment.
We render executive services to all your riders, ie(full A/C, super sound system etc). We take insults, we condole riders misbehavior and misconduct, yet we take them to their destinations safely with a smile. All these at ridiculous prices. Let these riders board 'danfos' without A/C or yellow cab without A/C and high charges. Then riders will understand the true meaning of comfort.
Our grievances are;

1. Blocking of driver's accounts without listening to the drivers' side of story. This is barbaric and callous.

2. Frustrating and enslaving fares. If we were truly partners, we would be informed before decisions that affect our earnings are made. Riders are even surprised and bewildered concerning the low fares.

3. Exorbitant percentage (15%) of commission. No e-transport company should take more than 10% of commission.

4. No free will choice of kind of riders to render services to.

5. Rating: this should be a means for riders to determine who is more likely to serve them best.

6. Loss of dignity as drivers carry low live riders that could not in their wildest dreams enter a polished car, insult drivers and make horrific demands.

7. Riders request to carry heavy and dirty luggages at ridiculous prices as luggage fare are not attached. These damages and weakens our car suspensions.

8. High amount of car rent from car owner and tough maintenance conditions

9. Security: there are high risks as pertained to rider's notion. These get greater daily and nothing is practically done to monetize and mitigate the risk.

OUR CHALLENGES

1. Riders take us to dead zones mostly at nights at the detriment of our lives.

2. High cost of car maintenance (i.e, air conditioner, alignment, servicing, etc.)

3. High rate of car insurance

OUR DEMANDS
It is so common and obvious to the sense of every human being that comfort/good life comes with a price (ie. its not cheap). Our services are expected to be executive, and not for pepper sellers or low class people.
We therefore demand that, henceforth, as driver-partners that you call us, 'PARTNERS' in quote
a). that driver-partners must be contacted before any decision in the company is made. We are partners, and that make us stakeholders in the company.
b). that your commission be reduced to 10% charges or less.
c). that your tariff be increased to #85/km and #13/mins as we are facing alot of traffic challenges, especially in Lagos. And we burn more fuel than what we earn at the end of the day.
d). that the so much accolades given to the riders, making them feel like gods and goddess be reduced to the barest minimum
e). that the way driver-partners are tossed around like mere errand boys, working day and night to achieve your set goals and objectives be corrected and amended.

OUR AGREEMENT
We the driver-partners have unanimously agreed that after 21 days of this warning strike slated today, if our demands are not met, we are going to jointly decide to move to other e-transport company that are new and ready to meet our demands. We will also canvass our clients which are your riders to move to the new company to get a better services. And that's how we will crash your stay in this country. This will make you understand the power we have as driver-partners on any e-transport company.

OUR CONCLUSION
We hereby wait for your swift response in treating our request within the next 21 days without any further delay.

Vividly, I remember 2 years ago, Uber was very classic, exotic cars with 5 star drivers come to pick you up, jeeps come to pick you up, sweets and were offers to you by drivers, water and pnuts were offered to you by drivers, I used to be one of those great drivers on uber. Uber grew so strong and enjoyed monopoly, they disregarded, maltreated drivers and became a small g god that wasn't accessible. We woke up one morning at the close of 2016 to read on news that uber slashed their fares by 40% without considering the cost of car purchasing an exotic vehicle and maintaining it. I am one of those drivers who sat and made sure uber paid for their sins. By doing so, we swept to taxify abandoned Uber with their rediculus fares and maltreatment. We made sure riders got limited access to rides when needed.

This affected uber so much that their office moved from Ikoyi to Maryland. For the first time, I saw uber running adverts and begging for partners and drivers at every shoprite in Lagos. Uber standard dropped so much that today they accept cars low as 1997 models as against 2008 models when they started. I call this "Collapse of an Empire".

Taxify capitalised on the errors of Uber, then promised diver/partners better treatment and income.

In less than a year, Taxify became a scam to drivers, roled out un-achievable incentives/promos, poisonous rating system, deducting their 15% from toll gate money, not rewarding a driver when a rider dosent pay fare or complete fare on a cash trip, blocking of drivers without proper investigation on allegations laid and poor GPS coverage.

As if these wasn't enough, we woke up on 16th Nov, 2018 to read that taxify has further reduced their fares by 15%. To most riders ,it's a welcomed development, while to most drivers, it's modern slavery.
I no longer drive with Taxify, but my advice to all are as follows...

In the next 4 months, expect more downgraded cars to come pick you up on trips, expect cars worth the rediculus fare charged by Taxify such as 1994 model of cars which would be worse than yellow cabs.

Expect more cancellations and rejection of trips from drivers to and from forbidden areas such as satellite Town, Abule-egba and arears with bad roads and terrible traffic. Reasons because, it's not worth the stress on cars.

Partners expect a reduction in your weekly remittance money. For instance, 15000 to 25000 weekly at most. If you can't accept that, drive your car yourself .

Lastly, until Taxify decided to learn and accept that drivers are the life wire of the business , your days in Lagos are numbered .

Cheers

Gokada, all things being equal will have little or no effect on Uber and Taxify but in this case, all things ain't equal...bad roads and heartbreaking traffic jam will always give them the advantage.

I've had riders who ended a trip and continued the journey with bike bcus of traffic.
