The problem is really not cost, it's more about proximity.
A man works in Lekki, Ikoyi or VI as a driver, Gardner, security man or the likes.
He may be able to afford a N400k self contain around Lakuwe, Bogije or Eleko axis, but that 400k can't get him anything meaningful.
Coming from the Lakuwe axis everyday is a No No so he opts for something around to lay his head, many of those people have houses at Ikorodu, where they spend the weekend...

So the problem really is not that they can't afford houses, but what is available for their class is too far from their place of work.

So you see the low cost houses would not work.
How much will it cost to build them? Ofcourse government won't rent them out, they would be sold, but to who, can the man on N150k salary buy?.
The sad reality is that till the world ends, they will be people on the streets

Low cost houses isn't built in the heart of the city, it is built in the suburbs and it should be a smart city where everything you needed is in it, including felling stations, hospitals, schools, recreational centers, mini stadium where all manner of sports is played and space provided for among others, plus key government facilities should be moved to surbubs, finally, a speed train should have a station linking this smart cities to the city center where u can get to anywhere u are headed to ones you have gotten to town and it takes few minutes in the train to the town, this is what the western world has done and it working for them, so why can't we take a cue, I have been to morroco, I have been to Uganda, have also been to Egypt, I have seen with my own eyes how these things are done, and life is easy for them in that terms, even at that, their minimum wage is still way ahead of our own, the supposed giant of Africa with empty brains
