His namesake started sucking from birth so I introduced pacifier(i already stopped it though) that made him stop but he does it occasionally when he is hungry and doesn't get food on time.

Thanks luv. Tried the pacifier but he takes it off.

Mittens. Wear mittens on his hands. Then try to always pull his hands out of his mouth when he sucks on them.

Cute Ayomide... baby Fame was also a thumb sucker frm the womb and when I noticed it at birth I started wearing him hand glove. I think the hand glove thing helped alot.

Its been a while we were here!!
This is Ayomide at 11weeks (last week).
Can't seem to stop his sucking..hr used to only suck to tell me he is hungry but these days he just sucks for fun. Biko experienced mamas how can I stop him considering he started sucking from the womb?

I dont know if his being pre term matters so you will have to check with your doctor first.

For starters what i did was get a pack each of

baby rice ( you know my struggles from previous post),
Aptamil cereal
Cow and gate creamy porridge. All of them the ones from 4 mos.
( aptamil cereal and the creamy porridge already contain milk so its just to add water.)

Then also some cow and gate food jars. Just a few for out and about days or when food inspiration fails me.

To be honest the orisirisi is not that hard and it is waaaaayyyyy cheaper than pouch or jar food!

I started with basic and easy fruits and veg...

■Banana - can be mashed with a fork
■Mangoes - if ripe enough a fork would do but in the early days i used a hand blender to make it eeally smooth
■carrots - boiled or steamed and blended
■avocado - mashed with a fork.
■Sweet potato - boiled and mashed or blended till smooth.
■ripe plantain - boiled and blended

Note for most of these you would need to add a few spoons of water to blend any excess was put in an ice tray wraped in cling film and frozen. If you are using immediately you can use some of babies usual milk.

I did single stuff for like 2 - 3 weeks, then started my mixy mixy. I then take my baby's food out of the main pot before i add maggi, and pepper.

So things like, beans, yam, spinach, amala, poundo, okra were introduced. So that she gets used to the house food. ( as i dont want her to go and get used to cauliflower cheese from hipp and the like meanwhile na amala and yam the rest of us dey chop for house. I cant set myself up for future food drama. My policy is one house - one pot)

If you do a search, there are like one or more pages with various food ideas from different mamas.

If he can hold stuff you can start giving him finger foods duting meal times things like yam, potatoes, soft boiled carrots can be sliced up for him to hold and he will just be there contently sucking the life out of it......

Please do not leave him alone un- supervised with food at any time.

Also i introduced food with a soft tip spoon and water from a cup at mealtimes.....

TT injection means Tetanus Toxoid Schedule
You take the first dose TT (Tt 1)when you feel quickening/baby kick but mostly from 18weeks;
TT 2 four weeks after TT 1;
TT 3 six weeks after TT 2;
TT 4 one year after TT 3;
TT 5 one year after TT 4.
Even if you get pregnant again during the course of taking TT you will just continue and not start al over provided you follow your schedule, the last one will protect you for a lifetime.
Pls try to go register fot you antenatal too, take care deat

TT3 is six months after TT2....usually around 8weeks after delivery

A way to avoid maintenance fee is to request for paperless e banking.
You don't pay for any maintenance fee but
You don't receive paper statements and you can't carryout transactions inside the bank...strictly internet and ATM

Pls ma, Ds always hiccups consistently after each feed even after i have burped him, what can i do to stop that hiccups as e dey do me somehow for body

Pls can someone explain how to effectively burp a baby with ease as i find myself spending so much time before he belches.

Also light situation isn't helping much and now small small rashes are appearing, wetin i go do to send d rashes packing.

How regularly should diapers be changed even if he didn't soil it with urine ?

1. Ayomide has that hiccups too. I read its normal, it doesn't disturb them as much as it disturbs the mothers . Solutions to ease the hiccups include putting thread on the baby's head like Iomoge2's mil (just kidding). Solutions are, giving the baby water to drink (I don't do this cos Ayomide is EBF)....giving the baby a pacifier or breast to suck on. I give breast and in less than a minute the hiccups stops.

2. I need to learn too. My DH is the expert in that field and he is happy that there's something about Ayomide he knows how to do better than me.

3. Don't cover him too much. A onesie in the afternoons should do. I think sudocreme helps rashes

4. I do every 4-5 hours.

I have spoken to my gynea and is of the opinion I shld start considering IVF. I can't just explain how I feel. Pls advise.

Take a deep breathe, you would be fine.

Have you done scans to know the size and position of the fibroids? If not, that should be your next step. Do a pelvic scan or tvs and seek a second opinion from another gynea.
If the size or position of the fibroids is a problem then IVF self isn't the solution.
The tubes only have adhesions, they are not blocked..so the adhesions can be removed and pregnancy achieved naturally.

Please endeavor to find the cause of the loses.

3rd dose is 6 months from your last dose...which is usually somewhere around 2months post partum. Check your card(if you have one) to confirm your last dose.

You asked a question and answered yourself and confused yourself again.
Your last visa wasn't issued in Nigeria so you are not eligible for Dropbox from Nigeria.

And doesn't mean one or the other...it means you have to satisfy both criteria.

Good afternoon super moms in d house. Please I have a 5months old baby that wakes up everytime like a new born baby. D maximum hrs he sleeps at nite is 2.30mins. But when he wakes up, after sucking he falls back asleep almost immediately. But the thing is really draining me. I am the type that finds it difficult to fall back to sleep and I have to wake up d next morning as early as 4am to prepare for work. Please is this normal? Is there any other person going thru d same thing with her baby? is there any solution to this problem? Someone pls help before I run mad from lack of sleep. Thank u

Do you have a help or someone living with you that can feed him at night? If yes, get a breastpump and express milk to be fed to him at night.

All these talk on nannies and all their wahala/drama, why aren't mothers considering good crèches/daycares/nurseries ?

I'm so not in favour of leaving my child alone with any nanny.

My son goes to a nursery (expensive sha but worth it). Staff ratio is 3 kids to 1 adult. Maximum number of kids in the room is 9. Kids are grouped in each room based on their age so you do not have for example a 3 year old is the same room meant for a baby or 2 year old. Breakfast, snacks, fruit, cow milk and lunch are provided and all I have to bring in is one meal a day. Nappies and wipes are also provided.
If I was in Lagos or any part of nigeria I would definitely consider a crèche and if I need help with housework, I would rather have someone come on a Saturday or Sunday, do whatever chores and leave.

If I remember correctly you live in UK, right? If I lived abroad where things work I would also go the daycare route.

But everyone's circumstance is different.
I work in a different state than I live. In fact I'm just being transferred to a different base from my last base I worked and I have zero family based there except 1 female friend/colleague.
When I do resume work, I'd arrive the city a day before and start working the next day. Leaves me no time to start looking for a creche/daycare
Then I leave for work at 6am and don't get home till about 6 or 7pm
I work any day of the week including sundays and public holidays
With our naija lackadaisical attitude to work, I wouldn't want to expose my 3month old baby to a daycare. Iv heard of stories where kids show up with infectious diseases.

The baba that brought her has been cleaning my neighbours house for about 15years and is very trusted. They leave the key with him and he cleans their house when they are at work. And I left my house for him on some occasions and nothing went missing.

So bringing a random person from an agent is scary to both of us.
With help of the mamas that contributed, we have been able to hash out some rules for her and the plan is to watch her for the deal breakers.
God help us mothers...I have contemplated resigning my job to be a stay at home mom but this recession no help matters. Coupled with the fact that I've been working since I was 16, I might go crazy not working

The story too plenty and some I'm even reluctant to share online...and we have only been together 1month.
She was sourced by my DH through our former house cleaner baba (they claim they are family friends but they have same surname....so I'm guessing she's his daughter)


1...What's the age range of the nanny......she's 27 (lied to my DH she was 25 but saw her real age when I asked to see her ID)
2..what is the pay range.....Her 2 previous employers were expatriates and she was paid 40k. So that's what we pay her
3..Are they live in or non live in....started off as non live in but she always showed up hours late with excuses so we had to make her live in
3a. If none live in, what is their work time?
3b. If live in, how many days off do they get in a Month?....We are still debating this one. Cos there are modalities involved.I work in a different state than I live, so when I'm at work even if she gets a day off she might not have anywhere to go to as she probably doesn't have family there. And when I'm not at work, twice a month. So she would get to go home 2 weekends in 3months.
4. Is their duty strictly taking care of your LO or do they do housechores too.....When I'm at work, she would only take care of my baby cos my work accommodation has a housekeeper. But at home she would do both.


I should have asked, what are your deal breakers and things you have to manage?

I'm having to manage really low IQ and insubordination.
We have just concluded that her sleep habits (She sleeps like a log...sleeps comfortably standing upright in the kitchen) and lies are a deal breaker...if she doesn't change.
My dh says my expectations are too high for a nanny and I should mange what I have. He says nobody with an average IQ would settle for being a nanny.

Abeg am I being too unrealistic? Is it not possible to get someone with a fairly average IQ that wouldn't turn me to a parrot?
