Politics › Re: Oil Price Collapses To $11 Per Barrel Amid Covid-19 Pandemic by sulaak(m): 8:48pm On Apr 20, 2020
haywire07:
Diversification is not a question of today. It has been there for up to 30 years ago when Oil took over.

Right now, I mean during this corona crisis, we cannot diversify. We should only be looking forward to sustaining ourselves first.
Exportation has been halted since the borders are closed.

But what about after the pandemic period?

1.We have former Niger Delta militants who were sent to learn production in China.
There are so many university scholars who were granted scholarships to study abroad.
E.t.c
Bring them home. Set up a conducive teaching and production environment.

2.Invest more in agriculture. Continue the ban of rice , chicken and other foods.

3. Encourage SME

4. We don't have to keep exporting our minerals to China. China would mine our metal family here, export to China, build cars and other technologies and sell back to us 200%

E.T. C..

All these might not make up the gains from oil, but it is necessary incase situations like this arise.
In design engineering, whenever you take your new design to review, the review board will task you on using the existing and legacy infrastructures instead of wasting funds on a new design.

Across Nigeria, there are hundreds of infrastructures and plants that have been neglected at the expense of cheap oil exports.

From the Alcon Aluminium plant that is now valued at $10 billion to the redundant refineries plants that were only built in the 1970s/80s, very young by the international standard to the Ajaokuta steel plant that can produce 10 million tons of steel for rails, constructions and manufacturing.

Nigerian has no business in OPEC or exporting crude oil with its arable land and redundant infrastructures, Nigeria can easily transform its economy into a manufacturing hub in less than 5 years by leveraging its existing infrastructures and exploit skilled Nigerian in the diasporas.

Finally, forget about scholar or people that have multiple academic qualifications, they have nothing to offer but hot air and corruption. Nigeria needs Nigerians in the diaspora that have a minimum of 20 years working at the highest level in Europe and America that's the only qualification that interest me.

Maybe in Nigeria.
Tesla mega-battery are already powering a town in Australia, The batteries are connected to both Solar and Wind Farms. Nigerian is just to slow in adopting new technology. A serious government will be supporting the replacing of the over 60 million dirty electric generators with clean solar and batteries, imagine the number of low technicians that will be required to set up the solar panel and batteries across the country.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-australia-42190358

The world's largest lithium ion battery has begun dispensing power into an electricity grid in South Australia.

The 100-megawatt battery, built by Tesla, was officially activated on Friday. It had in fact provided some power since Thursday due to demand caused by local hot weather.

But this applies to the developed countries. How soon will the underdeveloped or developing countries catch up with them.

Don't forget most of the refined products are shipped to the underdeveloped or developing countries.
There will always be a needs for refined products, petrochemical, Natural Gas, Bitumen and Fertiliser this is where Nigeria should be capitalising its export industries by moving up the manufacturing food chain.

Very soon can mean a century.

Solar and winds are pipe dreams used to cajole people that are not familiar with the industry.
The only real alternative to oil is nuclear which the "green" environmentalist hate.
People will eventually see through the parasitic subsidy being used to prop up the failing industry
and call for accountability.

Oil price will definitely go up.
The majority of the world's power still depends on oil.
Solar is not a pipe dream, factories are now being powered using batteries and solar farm.

To buttress your point, why will Dangote be building a 650,000 bpd refinery when Crude Oil will be useless as being speculated in some quarters.

For your information, marginal field operators in the country are also embracing the concept of modular refinery.

Definitely, other forms of energy will come. But the question remains, how soon?

Pending when the above question will be answered, Crude Oil isn't worthless yet.
The majority of oil export is for cars, power generators and Electricity power plants with the advent of Electric Vehicle (EV), Solar Energy and Battery and Natural Gas there will be fewer requirements for crude oil export.

shocked This will have terrible economic implications on the oil-dependent Nigerian economy.Meanwhile will the govt of "subsidy under-recovery" implement a further reduction in oil price since it's this abysmally low in the global market?
This is a crisis that can transform Nigeria, oil renting will always keep the country poor and recuring expenditure high.

The government should sell assets to competent investors, the oil refineries and steel plants can easily raise $3-4 billion that can be invested in Mambila Hydro Electric dam. The emphasis should be on an added-value chain export-driven economy, based on finish products such as refine oil and gas, steel, agriculture products, fertilisers and petrochemicals.

The Federal, State and Local governments need to channel all resources into fighting this virus. A big part of it is massive testing.

Lockdown means nothing without testing, isolating and treating infected ones.

French Professor Didier Raoult, who is one of the world’s top 5 scientists on communicable diseases, argued that the approach of mass quarantine (Lockdown) is both inefficient and outdated and that large-scale testing and treatment of suspected cases achieves far better results.

AS NIGERIA’S ROGUE RULER IS OUSTED BY COVID19

Nigeria has the tragic distinction of being a nation whose citizens rejoice when their rulers die of natural causes.

The deaths of maximum dictator Gen. Sani Abacha who killed and imprisoned many including myself and the death of Yar’adua who’s secretive cabal also threatened my life were greeted with joy and relief respectively.

The news of the demise of Abba Kyari, Chief of staff to MG Buhari and de facto president in his own right unfortunately reconfirms this sad historical trend.

Abba Kyari was a brilliant lawyer who reportedly made a first class studying abroad. However he utilized his knowledge and intellect not for the betterment of his nation but for the battering of his nation through the most lawless and foolish government ever.

Kyari reigned Supreme as the only unelected non-military person ever to completely arrogate powers of state to himself.

He was implicated in collecting bribes from MTN a foreign company that jeopardized national security by non-compliance with our laws and shortchanged Nigerians of billions of dollars in fines.

Kyari who appointed himself on the board of NNPC also appointed his daughter Vice President of Nigeria’s Sovereign Wealth Fund. In effect, his nuclear family alone was in charge of both Nigeria’s income generation agency and Nigeria’s savings agency.

Kyari was implicated in the shameless auctioning of ministerial posts that brought in the most lackluster and uninspiring cabinet in the history of Nigeria which even included a General indicted for stealing public funds during the Abacha regime.

Kyari then decreed via president Buhari that ministers must see Kyari instead of him.

But Kyari was not just a corporate thief. He stole from the poor too. A relative of Kyari’s who’s father reportedly helped raise him fingered Kyari for duping him in a contract scam. The victim relative who was an IDP and the police officer who investigated his claim were imprisoned and persecuted by the untouchable Kyari.

Under Kyari, the legitimate Chief Justice of Nigeria was unconstitutionally usurped, national elections were hijacked and rigged and the Vice President of Nigeria was permanently quarantined. Kyari will go down in historic infamy as the only man to have surreptitiously and effectively removed a Vice President, a Chief Justice and a President in a democracy - leaving a carcass of a government and a nation behind.

Kyari had the blood of countless Nigerians on his hands according to the NSA, with whom he had a public feud, because of his meddling in the war against terrorism.

From the above resume of wickedness, lawlessness and maximum impunity, it is clear why it will be difficult for Nigerians to moan the passing of a man whom they did not elect but who misruled them with utter contempt and shameless arrogance.

The only redemptive thing about Kyari’s rule is that he managed not to infect several western ambassadors who had the misfortune of meeting him recently. Fortunately, some of these ambassadors have completed their 14 day self-isolation in Abuja without incident.

Kyari’s self-importance was so much that even the military boys at the war front and foreign ambassadors in Abuja were all impacted by his overweening presence.

For a cabal that has disemboweled our democracy from the inside out, this is a major loss for them. For the populace held down and raped by a vicious and unpopular regime, this is not a loss but a plus - that God in heaven rules in the affairs of men.

If we must shed tears for Kyari, then know this:
“As long as our rulers pretend to govern, the people will pretend to mourn.”

Let us be very clear about this, the good book says, “when the righteous prosper, the city rejoices but when the wicked perish, there are shouts of joy.”

Let everyone ascertain for themselves whom the cap fits.

I call on the remnants of the cabal to surrender power back to the de jure rulers, in the fear of God, and to release Vice President Osinbajo from banishment.

1 million Chinese doctors cannot reverse the hand of God. Therefore kindly fear God and do right by his people - the citizens of Nigeria - and govern well and justly for the benefit of all.

Dear respected brothers & sisters in Islaam,

Please in honor of Malam Abba Kyari, do not engage anybody celebrating his death. Do not honor those that have no honor & worthiness or return their insult. Our consolation is, death is a debt & nobody is leaving this world alive.

NB: Even if they come to shower the insult under this post, don't respond to them please. Leave the insults there hanging. They will be useful one day. It is like a register. Leave it there. Don't honor people that have no honor.

PS they're SAD souls don't know how to respect themselves and their elders
You don't have a clue what "visionary leadership" means, despite his education and work experience he backed the like of Buhari at a crucial time in Nigeria history. Backing an old unhealthy president is a recipe for disaster.

His irresponsible behaviour during this COVID-19 epidemic is the reason why Abuja is now one of the two epicentres in Nigeria.
