Government across the world are discounting and subsidizing use of solar by private homes to reduce pressure on their national grid, my country is going the opposite direction. The US for example gives 30% of total cost back to an individual or business that installed solar on their home.

Yes, that's the case in Nigeria because the institutions here are too weak to be independent.

From the judiciary to the legislature, everyone is working hard to impress the president. Nobody can challenge, question or upturn the president's decision like we see the US judiciary and senate do all the time. If you try it here, you are practically finished.

That's why you must be tested before getting to the highest office of the country so you don't throw the entire country into disarray. In fact, going forward, all the presidents of Nigeria must be former governors. That way, people will vote for you based on your track record.

I see it different, here are my reasons…

1. It’s very very hard to perform in a rotten system if the head is rotten. Sowore as a rep or senator won’t make big difference in a rotten system.

2. Sowore a new politician winning an election would send the right message to the people and let them realize the power their wield to elect and remove a president in power, this will evolve our democracy hugely.

3. People trust Osinbajo for whatever reason, he is also a first timer and a complete figure head in Buhari’s rotten government, yet people want to trust him with the role of a leadership Isn’t that hypocrisy

Osinbajo was part of team Tinubu when he was governor of Lagos. People call Tinubu part of the rot but someone tag Osinbajo a saint.

Unfortunately, even with felony he could still contest for US presidency. The founding fathers didn’t prepare for such situation where a candidate will have a felony or even serving in prison. If he manage to win, the White House becomes his new prison to finish his term. Trump know this loop hole and that’s why he’s no giving up on his bid to become the president again.

Somalia greatly benefited from the Japa wave seeking asylum is different countries. They still love their homeland, and their first gen born outside the country are not going back home to invest heavily especially in hospitality and real estate. There’s a documentary on YouTube about this movement.

A typical Nigerian will swore never to to back home and curse their country when others still uphold their homeland love.

My take is we need to learn from others so our agriculture is competitive.
Nigeria e.g is the highest producer of cassava in the world but our average yield per hectare of land is 11 tonnes compare to Thailand which is 20-25 tonnes.
There are similar figures across board and this can be attributed to several reasons but I will like to focus on CAPITAL/SCALE.
We need to understand that you need capital to achieve economies of scale.There are too many small players and we need consolidation so that we have cooperatives or companies

Take cassava specifically yield can be increased simply by ploughing the soil to make it less compact so that when the cassava grows it is not hindered by compact soil.
Mechanized ploughs are imported and costly and not cost effective for small farmers
Other issues are irrigation,fertiliser,were and pest control not to mention herdsmen.

To make serious money from cassava there is need for serious players with deep pockets that can put down tens of millions of dollars. Under the current herdsmen crisis that is a challenge
But we need to think.about yield which means capital and requires security

Did you know that countries with high yield per hectare are mostly the enablement of the government ? The deep pockets, the venture capitals heavily investing in farms are only cos the government guarantees steady sales.

For example, Cheese, corn, meats are example of foods on guarantee sales list in the US. Many countries practice this exact thing. It’s just a guarantee that, if you’re unable to sell the produce, we guarantee to buy the excess at xx amount per kilo or whatever.

We managed to push cassava and yam production high even when there’s extremely low yield. Have you imagined what happens if we get out yield level higher?

It’s more painful that we have everything we need in this country. Everything!

The government must involve the youth in agriculture.

And they must incentivize agriculture for youths to be attracted to it!

Give free land, provide tractors for rent or support financing option for them to acquire one, guarantee sales of their produce and watch how youths will flock the farming sector and crash the price of food.

This worked everywhere in the world! You must support agriculture and incentivize it! This is not rocket science. We will become a major exporter of produce in no time.

Cost of living in high in many western countries, but they incentivize agriculture, food is always dirty cheap. Also, no tax on any food stuff.
