I met a quite beautiful girl early this year and things have been going on smoothly between us, the only problem we have is she complains that I'm not a jealous lover and it simply means I don't really love her.

As a beautiful girl I expect her to get attention from guys and I don't have any issue with that. Most times she receives barrage of calls and expects me to get moody after the calls but I don't care. Some times she will call me to seek my permission if a guy wants to take her out and I simply tell her to have a great date and face my business.

She complains that's I don't take her serious and I'm in for a fling, but I actually love her. I'm just of the perception that you're actually single till you're married. I've access to her phone but I've never checked her chats. She keeps comparing me to her former guys that checks her phone and all. It's even becoming an issue.

At times if I call and the line is busy I simply cut and wait for her to call back when she's done, but she would want to bring down the roof if she calls and my line is busy. If I receive a call from a lady she would start throwing tantrums.

Recently an ex of hers resurfaced and have been trying to get her back. She keeps sending screenshots of their chats and call recordings but I've told her I'm not interested in their conversation and if she wants to go back to the guy I will simply pass ahead.

A couple of weeks ago the guy bought her an iPhone which she posted online, I commented with a dancing meme and congratulated her, she got angry and started giving me attitude. When I confronted her, she said I don't take her serious and just wants to waste her time. Insisting that know serious guy would be dancing because another guy bought a phone for his girl. What should I have done?? Prevent her from collecting a gift she's been craving which I can't afford to give her Isn't that akin to being a pauper and a witch at the same time?

Hence my question, does displaying jealousy a sign of love?? Personally I love with my brain and I automatically assume that anyone I'm dating is cheating. I'm just pessimistic when it comes to dating Nigerian girls, I have it at the back of my mind that she's probably slept with that guy that bought her the phone.

Wow. It's unlike most westerners.
After two weeks you are very justified to ask them how far with your application status.
Send them a mail, a kind reminder telling them you're still looking forward to their response.
Also state that you would be willing to provide more information, or make clarifications as they may require, or take additional assessments.... Anyone that you think applies on this case. Just in case they want to give you another shot before deciding... A possibility.

Some may place your application on hold till they're through with other candidates, and then make a decision. But if you don't hear anything from them a week after your email reminder, they don ghost you be that.

Got the confirmation mail today....they moved ahead with another candidate

UPDATE!!!

Two weeks have gone by since my eventful interview, and I have not gotten a response from the company. It's, therefore, safe to assume that the ship has sailed considering that HR said she would get back to the successful candidate after a couple of days. Just had to drop the update because a lot of people asked me to keep them abreast of any development concerning the job.

Modified: I got the confirmation mail that they have moved ahead with another candidate.

I appreciate everyone for the kind words and encouragement, hopefully, I will get a better job in the future and I will sure update you guys.

I have never experienced anything like that. You see I am not one of those Nigerians who leave everything to chance. You lost a job today because you did not prepare. Preparation does not only involve reading interview questions. It involves providing solutions to potential problems that will disrupt your chance if landing the job. No recruiter will offer you that role because it shows exactly how you do not think outside the box. If you can solve ordinary interview settings challenges why should I trust you with decisions that have serious repercussions on my business?

I remember my first foreign interview, I slept at my uncles house that was close to 30KM away from me. I used his Library, internet and generator. During the interview they complemented that they like the lighting of my room and were wandering if thats my house. Thats how I use the conversation to sell my self. At the end of the day, no additional questioned asked. They said I was exactly the person they were looking for after interviewing 17 other candidates.

Thats how I broke the poverty circle in Nigeria. So while you laugh at your sorrow remind yourself how stupid you were for not taking your chances.

I don't know why you had to resort to insults to drive home your point, you think I had better options but instead choose to stress myself?? I even made a mistake by dignifying your arrogance with a response.

Just wondering, how long did it take you to become good and apply for jobs?

I can't really place a time frame on my progress because I've been grossly inconsistent due to a variety of factors. I started applying once I got a few projects on my portfolio, there's still so much to learn though.

As someone who has been. working remotely for 7 years and having been part of countless interviews for others, I can tell you that it can affect decision making but it might not be written in her report.
Reason is that Remote working is all about accessibility, they want someone they can reach out to at any time of the day and would be responsive, that's the way to build trust. However, it is not the ultimate criteria nor a deal breaker, it's just a subtle concern, if your technical abilities are impressive, that problem is quite solvable when you get the job.

by the way are you what languages do you write?

Just a frontend web developer, majoring on JavaScript and some of its frameworks like React and jquery. And little of WordPress too.

After my secondary school, sold ice cream. Funny enough I didn't even know how to ride a bicycle so I trekked around dragging my long John bicycle around.

As a lover of ice cream I would end up licking my supposed profit for the day, once sun hammer me, I go just jeje pack under a tree and lick like 3 packs and continue my waka.

You applied for a few jobs and stopped. You never ready. You should be applying to jobs everyday like a job now and never take interviews to heart. The frustrations you got is just the beginning. You havent lost a job cause the company cant figure out how to pay you or shit internet or electricity. Theres no programmer working remotely who doesnt hate Nigeria with all the passion inside them.

I get your point baba, it's not like I gave up, I sent out over 200 applications within one month when nothing was forthcoming I had to slow down and reinforce so as to come up with a better portfolio.

The hiccups made the interview kinda fun shaa, I answered her questions to the best of my abilities. She kept nodding her head, don't know if it was out of sympathy or affirmation. I thought I would be nervous since it was my first interview but I wasn't.

After sending loads of applications for remote web dev positions throughout December without success I stopped applying and went into blockchain development. Last week I was replying a message on my LinkedIn account when I saw this jnr WordPress developer vacancy that popped up. I just applied since it takes less than a minute to do so on LinkedIn.

I was surprised when they sent me a mail two days later with a link to an assessment which I took and submitted. They got back to me some days later to fix an interview date, I choose Feb 9 among the listed options. The time options included 7pm, 7:15pm and 7:30pm and I chose the 1st option. The interview was supposed to last for just 15 minutes.

I left Chelsea's match that I was watching at half time to prepare for my interview. I asked one of my Nairaland friends for data and he sent me 3gb, I was all set up by 6:44 pm with a Bluetooth that I borrowed from a friend for the occasion. I didn't want any stories. If only I knew what was lying in wait for me....6:52 pm.....Boom!!! NEPA took light.

My laptop was fully charged but knowing fully well that my battery was not trustworthy, it would last 2 hours when it's in a good mood and 5 minutes on it's angry days. I grabbed my charger and extension and ran off to a nearby restaurant in my area. You think Usian Bolt can run baa? If you see my speed this evening you will like me. It was a combination of Bolt and Ben Johnson. I ran like a criminal that was escaping an angry mob about to lynch him, with the way I was grabbing my PC under my armpit I could easily be mistaken for a thief by the way.

I got there by 6:59 pm, plugged my stuffs and connected to the zoom call by 7: 02 pm, the beautiful oyinbo woman was already waiting. While she was in a well lit apartment, I was in a place with red and blue bulbs with my face barely visible even though I supported the light with my phone torch light flashing straight to my face.

She smiled immediately I came online, and murmured something, omo the Bluetooth was not connected o. Something I tested before connecting to the call, I was fumbling with my Bluetooth settings while she kept talking and gesticulating if I could hear her. The Bluetooth was connected to the system but was somehow not working, she saved me from my misery when she suggested we port to google meet for the interview.

I used the opportunity to check my Bluetooth settings well and connected to the call through a link she sent to my mail almost immediately. In the middle of the interview the restaurant gen went off throwing everywhere into darkness.... Omo!!!

I had to keep shining teeth and stretching my small eyes to its elastic limit because they were the only visible things from my end. She burst into laughter and I couldn't help but join her. It was as if she was in heaven calling someone in hell. I apologized and she told me not to worry that she understands amidst another bout of laughter that she was struggling to contain.

She shaa finished the interview with the normal I will get back to you after accessing the performance of other candidates, I still apologized for my interview settings hoping it won't affect my chances, she assured me that it won't have any bearing on her decision making as regards to selection of the successful candidate. She couldn't stop smiling throughout the interview that lasted for like 20 mins.

I packed my kaya and went home. I laughed my heart out while I narrated everything to my friend who rolled on the floor with laughter. The image of my eyes and teeth in darkness was so hilarious. This was actually my first interview and it will definitely live long in my memory.

I don't understand the hype with Game of Thrones. I have the complete series; saw a few episodes and it didn't pique my interest. So I don't know how you can compare it with 24 where each episode from the very start leaves you wanting for more.

I grudgingly finished game of thrones, but 24 is one addictive series..... the suspense plot twist and all, leaves you on the edge of your sit.
