byrron: I respectfully beg to differ with your assertions.
Firstly, I commend you for your act of kindness which supersedes every other conversations going on here.
What I choose to do shouldn't affect the voting process by the umpire but the voter's should be the one to decide.
Voter's would still have naturally voted for someone else but the umpire stepping in to unilaterally disqualify someone when such a person is not in violation of any of the rules isn't fairness in any form or shape.
If someone had gifted one of the BBN participants the same amount of the BBN prize money, then BB is automatically expected to disqulifier the recipient because of the gift such an individual received outside the competition?
Well, I respect your decisions but I don't subscribe to it.
Let the voter's decide and let the umpire count the votes.
Thanks. Boss your assertion holds water, just like you said if she continued she wouldn't have won because the voters might be biased since it was openly disclosed that she got an equivalent sum. The rules of the contest are not cast in stone and I still think snowland eliminated that bias in the best way possible. |

snowland: I appreciate your input. What I did to me is the true definition of being fair. You would not have known about her if she had not signified interests and I selected her. Yes, the voters will decide but the game changed when you singled her out of the park and promised her 50k. There's absolutely nothing wrong with what you did but it's not fair to the other 3 candidates. You have your yardstick for choosing her over the other 3 but it puts her in a better financial position over the rest. Allowing her to continue will not only be unfair to the other contestants but also to others that have been asking for help in one way or the other on this same thread. It would have been a different ball if you had not announced it on here, but since you did, technically she's no longer qualified. Thank you. Your decision was the best especially since it was done openly. its fair she's dropped |

I can beat my chest that with the recommendations and media presence of one mummymulik, she would be among the chosen two.
I think I concord with you. Since the deadline is tomorrow, I think another participant that indicated interest in the comment sections before should be restored. Probably with the ample deadline of noon tomorrow, the person would be able to structure their business plan.
My humble assertion though MummyMalik won plan 2 effortlessly due to her proven track record of executing such plans and recommendations from other members, with the other lady out its quite stroll in the park for the two IYAs. |

snowland: I have the plans from the 4 candidates and the poll will go live very soon. However, I think there should be some changes. Since @UmmuFarrah has already been gifted 50k by @brryon (unless I'm told otherwise), in the spirit of equity and fairness to the other 3 contestants, I think she does need to be dropped on Technicality. It will not be fair to at least 2 other contestants if she's allowed to compete again and she ends up winning one of the 2 slots. Therefore, @UmmuFarrah is hereby dropped from the contestants. That's a nice plan, but then if time permits her slot can still be given to another person maybe among those that indicated interest. Just a suggestion shaa, you're the boss |

PeaceJoyLove: It is not easy to get a job. From the responses you have gotten so far, you know what to expect.
Entry jobs arent without experience on linkedin. In fact middle experience is like 3 years experience on the job. So entry is someone who is grounded.
You may want to consider going for internship. Some are without pay while some are with. With this, you can gain experience.
Actually getting jobs take time. You need a lot of experience. I laugh the way those guys pit it as if it's easy to just learn web development and get job. Lol. It is not that easy. The competition is really high there. From my investigation, some of those guys srent working but pretending they have online jobs. Lols.
I am.happy you brought this out here. Imagine competing with Indians and middle east guys in web development. Lol. In fact, Europe and Middle East are where the opportunities can come from cos to get from Asia is slim. Lol.
Well, reflect on everything. You may have to get an intern job ....even with intern, you need experience to get it. Web development is highly competitive. This is the truth which they wont tell you, but it is doable. It is achievable. You just have to study hard and get experience anyhow to make more money Thanks Boss, I knew it was gonna be difficult before I started the journey. I'm actively looking for internship placement even free ones. |

Family › Are Children Really An Achievement?? by Supreme145(op): 12:00pm On Dec 12, 2021 |
There is this motion that giving birth to children is an achievement in this country. I see young guys in mid and late twenties rushing into marriage while they are barely standing on their feet. From someone that comes from a family of 10 I'm sure if my dad is given a second chance he won't give birth as much children again. Let me share some of my experiences as regards giving birth without proper planning or sustainable income.
I've a neighbor in my compound, he's 32 and in his final year in the university, I can hardly have decent conversation with him without hearing about how he wants to get married. I would always remind him that he's living in a one room apartment, still a student without a strong source of income, but he would counter me saying that he can always start small and grow with his wife. Moreover when he gives birth he would have an investment.
I've have another friend that was a classmate in secondary school, he graduated the year I got admission though he had some issues with his results. One day he called me that he's married and I was surprised, though he is an artisan into all those parapets and pop stuffs I know he wasn't financially buoyant enough to carry a family. The last time I visited him he was looking malnourished and unable to sort out his issues in school almost four years after because according to him any money that he gets already has a pending issue waiting for it. He's looking far older than his elder brother who's still single, he looks 38 when he's just 30. He consoled himself by telling me that even if he doesn't have money he already has two kids which he sees an investment and a great achievement. Meanwhile they are cramped into a single room apartment and none of the kids are enrolled in school.
Last week while we were training in the evening, an argument broke out between two young guys. I was just by the side observing what was happening, I kept hearing stuffs like....why you dey argue with that guy? you no know say na person father he be? that guy don born two children o abi you think say e easy to born, na big achievement be that o. Now this is a guy that is about 25 years and has no sustainable means of income, he works in peoples farms and other menial jobs to make ends meet.
My next door married neighbor has become a torn in my flesh, he's always borrowing from me without paying so it's obvious he's struggling financially, factor in the constant arguments with his wife due to shortage of funds all the time. I once asked him why rushed to get married without a good source of income and he bluntly told me that he had always been broke while he was single and still broke now that he's married the only difference is that he can boast of his kids as an achievement unlike when he was single that he had nothing to boast of.
I have no issues what so ever with how anyone choose to life their life but considering the economic condition of this country now bringing in kids without proper plans is not the way to go. If my dad had given birth to maybe 3 kids I'm sure he wouldn't be stressed out the way he is now and the resources used in training 8 kids would be better managed on just 3kids.
Personally I feel that one of the surest way to perpetual poverty as a young guy is to get married while struggling financially. Like one of the examples above, he cast aside his personal development and aspirations just to cater for his family. Supposing he's still single I'm sure he would have cleared he's outstanding school fees and maybe get his certificate.
Well since I'm still single and still struggling I don't judge anybody, every mallam to his kettle. As for me no marriage till I'm financially stable enough to afford at least 3 bedroom flat, a small car and substantial savings. It would be an abomination for me to bring a child into this world to pass through the kind of life I had growing up. |

tensazangetsu20: Honestly this advice only works when you are at a senior developer. Op please don't take this advice. I also spammed jobs before I got my first job. People I advised to spam jobs have gotten good jobs very good. One I know in fact works for two companies. One in the UK and the other in Australia. He earns over 3 million a month and he hasn't been coding professionally for up to a year. Even I don't earn up to one million though my earnings are in the high six digits range.
Spam and apply please you are a junior Dev. If you build 100 things from videos and copying and pasting stack overflow solutions it will absolutely never be up to standard. Get into the industry and learn how things work at an industry standard.
What I will advise you op as you are getting interviews is to work on your algorithms. Don't waste your time building any new thing. The ones you have done are okay. Thanks boss, I did DSA during the university but never really know its application practically, I will put the knowledge into use now. |

bet9ja: Please don't be desperate for a job. Spamming for job openings with over 200 applications is not a good proceeding. Stop applying and start enjoying building dummy projects and adding it to your portfolio while positioning yourself.
Always remember that a good Engineer doesn't look for a company to work for. In contrast, companies are always looking for a good Engineer to work with.
To give you a clue, always attend to interviews like you don't really need the job. It works better that way. I already have dummy projects and I'm still working on some, but if I don't apply how am I going to get a job? |

tensazangetsu20: Op let this slide. There's always gonna be more opportunities and continue upskilling. At this point since you are getting interviews already I won't advise you to learn backend or do more projects. Start building up your algorithm skills. Those jobs are going to start coming in anytime soon. I really like the fact that you are very intentional about getting a job and have been applying to jobs. This is what I tell people. See the company is from Lebanon. I tell people with regards to tech enter LinkedIn and apply to jobs worldwide. It doesn't matter the country the skill is the same.
Well since you have spent time what I will do is send in just the front-end and let the company know that I am just a front end developer. Thanks boss, I will do just that |

GboyegaD: While I understand the need for due diligence, bringing the entire family into it via pictures seems odd to me. Not everyone take pictures, do we disqualify such persons based on their preference?
What I have learned to do of late is use a friend around the area you are to give you what I have. That way, the person sees you and can attest to your needs but that might be challenging in this situation and that is why I'm not suggesting it. Boss I get your point, the pictures can be sent to his DM, as for the family picture I was trying to reduce any chance of scamming to the barest minimum. |

But you can't learn databases, REST API, request/response cycle and all that in 48 hours.
You can learn on the job but not without a solid grasp of the basics. In my opinion, you're getting ahead of yourself with this and should calm down and do more projects. Thanks boss, I will let it slide and work harder |

I've been learning frontend web development for a while now and after getting to a stage I react I decided to test the waters as regards to available jobs. I've been spamming LinkedIn and Indeed with applications though I apply for mostly Internship or Entry level positions.
Its been over two weeks I've been sending applications and only one Lebanese company has contacted me for an assessment and I've applied for over 200 jobs within that period.
The issue now is that the Lebanese company gave me a mini full stack project to complete within 48 hours though the time can be extended on request. Now I'm just a rookie frontend developer with no experience at all with back end, the frontend of the project has to be done with react which I can handle but I'm stuck at the back end.
I downloaded tones of tutorials on node js pertaining the project but I can't just wrap my head around it within such limited time frame. I have a little below 24 hours before the deadline and I've made little or no head way.
Even if I manage to get the project done won't I be biting more than I can chew knowing it's a full stack position? Or should I find a way around the project and learn on the job?. I wouldn't want my desperation for a job to put me into trouble. Should I let this one slide and wait for opportunities that suit my current skill set while I further develop my skills? I haven't slept for the past 24 hours due to this project and I'm stressed out already.
Please my bosses I need your input on this matter.
Modified: I've been able to create a react app that displays the CSV file table on the frontend but I'm just overwhelmed with the back end

Since you want to give to a family and not to individuals, the person representing the family must present about three different pictures that the family snapped together, with different backgrounds including documents like IDs or birth certificates bearing a uniform surname of the recipients to back it up. Lastly the chosen families would undergo a video call on an undisclosed date to confirm, the date would be only disclosed some hours before the call preferably at night when the families are likely together.
The undisclosed video call date would make it difficult for any scammer to assemble a family before hand. During the call, the caller can throw random questions from the information gotten from the documents presented to any of the family members, if anyone is thrown off guard by a question then its likely an arrangee family.
As for someone to disburse the money I would suggest pocohontas, she did something similar last year. |
