Hello all. My friend and I are doing a football podcast.  I had put it up here before but they moved it to the Money/Adverts section for some reason.

As far as I know, we are doing this because we love football and our conversations on it were always long and interesting.  So we thought why not to do a podcast.

We'd like more listeners and feedback so we can improve and hopefully start to build up a community.

So if you've got the odd hour why don't you give us a listen.

Here is this week's episode.  http://traffic.libsyn.com/tntfootball/Episode_6.mp3

and here is the link to the episode archive.  http://tntfootball.libsyn.com/

Thank you.

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: The End Of Hitv - Multichoice/dstv Wins Back Epl Coverage Rights In Nigeria by suprted(m): 3:37pm On Jul 23, 2010
HiTV should have started small.  Check my old posts, I asked why anyone should pay (at the time 3500) for just football.

Someone above said try going up against a multinational and yet over here your typical Wasim's Kebab Korner type shop does well even though there is McDonald's around the corner.  It's figuring out what works, it's offering services that the other people don't have, it's setting a price-point that allows you to be competitive and yet not bankrupt oneself.

Had HiTV purchased a percentage of the games instead of full rights then they could have continued to grow, raised their market share slowly, raised their profit margins.  How are they expecting to break even?  to make back the 40 million a season they spent, they'd need 1 million subscribers (going on 150 naira to $1).  And that's without factoring the running costs of a business, the hardware, the staff, marketing etc etc.

SportsRe: Nigerian Officials Denied Visas To South Africa by suprted(m): 2:45am On Jun 07, 2010
Did the 200 people have tickets for the games? Probably not. A country can allow or deny anyone entry into its territory. Has anyone with a ticket and valid accomodation and finance been denied. If not, lets stfu.

All the people complaining do you know how hard it is to get a Nigerian visa?
FamilyRe: Should Micheal Essien (of Chelsea FC) Support His Father More? by suprted(m): 5:28pm On May 30, 2010
mschheewww.

so because essien lucked out and manages to earn a hefty wedge a week, the rest of the family should stop working or trying to take care of themselves? this is why africa will never move forward. i've even read people here saying he should pay for the extended family. where were they when i was poor?

and smh at the people who are acting like a talent like michael essien wouldn't have eventually risen to the top. when even people who's parents used to ban them from playing football managed to make pro careers from themselves.

Nigerians are the most touchy people in the world.

And keep lying to yourselves that there aren't gays in Naija. Maybe you should go and pray for your brothers and sisters in single-sex schools.

CultureRe: What Is So Wrong With Being Left Handed by suprted(m): 3:54pm On May 20, 2010
Left handed to the core. They had to change the door handles in our house when we were small as me and my sister are left handed.

I hand people stuff with my right hand, but even some right handed people have handed me stuff with their left (whilst apologising).

When I was 9, I broke my left wrist, so I was forced to use my right for some things. Today, I use it to wipe myself and I also trust it more during a fight.

Look at the misinformation in that story. I'm not saying that they should advocate ganja use, but for eff's sake since when has smoking weed made anyone collapse?

Please all these conspiracy-theorist who over read Robert Ludlum should waka. If you have proof of a conspiracy post links or shut up.

As for truly. You can't even call the USA a christian nation, separation of church and state mean anything to you? Let's be real, even if Bush sucks up to the christian right, it's for the votes but you can't say that in power he was acting in accordance to christian principles.

However, al-qaeda always say they are acting in the name of Islam.
BusinessRe: Fashola Shops For N73.3b For Airport by suprted(m): 6:13am On May 06, 2010
don't know how anyone can say MMI is fine. It only has 2 carousels, only one of which is working. If more than 2 airlines land at the same time, god knows what will happen. it is below standard for an international airport.

airport taxes will benefit the state if we control this airport. If the airport is safer and more efficient, then airlines will prefer to fly there rather than MMI.

also, just because they are spending 40 billion on the airport, doesn't mean that the light rail or road improvement projects won't happen. where has it been said that the airport is being built at the expense of these other projects.

abeg stop all that superstitious nonsense- don't disrespect the dead my foot.  if i disrespected your monkey behind when you were alive, i'm going to do it when you were dead.  smh at all these imbeciles trying to change history because someone died, like as if it changes anything.

if you like cheer my death. like i give a shit.

the only people i feel sorry for are his mother and kids.  turai is a she-devil who despite knowing her husband was brain-dead decided to take the low road and use the poor man as a pawn and i laugh in her face.

PoliticsRe: Acting President Goodluck Jonathan And His Too Many Grammatical Errors by suprted(m): 11:23pm On Apr 16, 2010
He didn't make any massive grammatical errors else I would have noticed them, granted if you were looking for them you'd probably find them, but how many people noticed them first time?    His accent was ok.

However, his body language could stand to be better.  He was slouching, then he would catch himself and shift to sit up straight.  It made him look fidgety and timid.

There are some stupid comments on this board.  English is our official language.  If it's not, what should be our official language, your own?  Go to blazes!!!  Some idiot up there was saying that we should all speak one of the major ones,  why?  Just as English isn't my native language, Yoruba isn't my native language either.
LiteratureRe: How Can One Overcome Writer's Block? by suprted(m): 9:37pm On Apr 16, 2010
leave it for a bit, or start something else. sometimes the a-ha moment comes up when you least expect it.

another thing is to plot out the novel. like have a conclusion planned (you can change this later, like not killing off a character cos you love them too much) or have key points you want to hit in the novel, so at least you'll be building up to those points at the very least. it will help you keep on point.
FamilyRe: Crazy Things You Did As A Kid by suprted(m): 3:42am On Apr 14, 2010
I used to eat soap. I'd rub it in my hands, get a good lather going, then lick it off. One day I guess one of the suds went down my windpipe. come and see panicking. i ran downstairs naked to the kitchen choking and spluttering to get some water (it wouldn't have helped but what did i know).

I also used to pretend to be spider-man. in the kitchen, the deep freezer and one of the sideboards were opposite each other and there was a wall in between. so i'd hold on to the freezer and sideboard and then walk up the wall all the while singing the spider-man theme song. until the day i fell on my face, i just slightly chipped my tooth but it could've been worse.

oh i also used to hide in the curtains like an animal and crap myself, they used to find me from the smell. i'd just been potty trained at the time.

RomanceRe: Do All Married Men Have To Cheat. by suprted(m): 9:42pm On Apr 13, 2010
maybe if people took their time instead of running into marriage willy nilly because their friends are doing it, or they are turning 30, or what have you they would see their spouses for what they really were.

far too many people just think about the day.  bleeping white dress, bridesmaids, aso-ebi, cake and pictures on facebook, they dont think about the remaining 50-60 years they've signed up to live with this person.  they barely know the man, they just think they do. or they like the superficial that they can see.  maybe his good looks, his car, his coq, his money whatever.

then they come on nairaland to whine about why the scorpion they married has just stung them.

TV/MoviesRe: Lion Heart: The Kanu Story (Kanu Nwanko's Movie) by suprted(m): 4:35pm On Apr 13, 2010
it's a documentary, he won't be acting.

the kanu story should be made into a film though.  but usually these things have trained actors doing them, eg Ali, even if Muhammad Ali was able, he probably would still have let Will Smith play him.

@Suprted
someone told me Sony removed wi-fi in the slim model. I just wiki'd it and found out only the 20GB model doesnt have it.
I'm still rockin my 60GB model. .
I didn't even know there was a 20 GB slim model. I've got a 250 GB slim. It has wi-fi and it's fairly easy to set up.

I'm no expert but wired connections tend to be faster than wireless, although it of course depends on the ISP itself. It took about an hour to download the latest update with Swift yesterday.
