SportsRe: English Premier League Has Destroyed African Football by suprted(m): 1:14am On Feb 04, 2010
1. the english premier league is entertaining. the nigerian premier league is not. the so called nigerian style of of football is quite brainless. it is a stereotype that english teams cannot pass or dribble or whatever because the game is quick. that is a fallacy of the highest order. if as a footballer you lack basic control and touch you wont get very far anywhere. maybe it's not to the level of a spanish or italian player where technique is respected more than athleticism but its even the crappest thug of a footballer like a chris morgan is way better on the ball than any of us here.

football is entertainment. if you're not entertaining, then people will find something that is. if the NPL wants more viewership then appeal to the imagination of Nigerians. It's like with music, Nigerian artistes are respected and successful because they are good. this is in spite of competition from foreign artistes.

2. i dont know where you got the idea that spanish players in the epl dont get called up. the likes of fabregas, torres and before they went back to spain arbeloa and alonso, were essential parts of the squads. and guess what, they play to the system. it's not the epl's fault that amodu has no system, that there is no off the ball movement or that they can't pass to each other. after all, even the likes of burnley and hull have a plan.

LiteratureRe: Most Uninteresting Book You Have Read. by suprted(m): 6:13am On Jul 02, 2009
as for me, it's lord of the rings.  i just cannot get past a certain page in the fellowship of the ring. it's like reading a very boring ancient history textbook.

and to say jane eyre is uninteresting when you watch home videos,

EducationRe: Why Is The English Language Skill Of Nigerian Graduate So Appalling? by suprted(m): 1:05pm On Jun 25, 2009
interesting debate.

keep fooling yourselves and saying its not your mother tongue. the so called Hindis, Russians and Chinese are paying people craploads of money to come and teach them English.

Yeah the welsh have their own language, but since when was wales a world power.

and given that there are 250 languages or more in nigeria, where does it end? just as you dont feel obliged to learn someone elses mother tongue, why should i feel obliged to learn yours?

TravelRe: 10 Days In Nigeria And I Am Planning To Relocate To Nigeria. by suprted(m): 4:05am On Jun 08, 2009
akinalabi your posts were disappointing.

are those parts not part of nigeria? or is it because they aren't 'your people'. with such an attitude, why bother going home, i might as well stay abroad seeing as the people here have the same level of apathy for the niger-delta as the avergage nigerian.
RomanceRe: Why 9ja Girls Drink Alcohol? by suprted(m): 10:03pm On Jun 04, 2009
i honestly don't care if a chick drinks as long as she's not pregnant. plus there's a difference between getting drunk once in a while and doing it on the regular.

and this

1. It is going to make them age a lot faster, hence make them lose their beauty a lot faster.

2. It is going to ultimately cause medical problems for them in long run.

3. It might end up causing them to transfer medical problems to their unborn children as a result of their own medical problems that occur from their drinking habits.

4. Drinking leads to bad breathe and dirty stained teeth, hence it ultimately constitute itself into a turn off.

5. It would ultimately end up creating a little bit of financial black hole in either their pocket or the pocket of the partners because sooner or later they'll be addicted to alcohol and spend more on it than is realistic.

6. It ultimat ely constitutes a turn off to me as a man cus i don't drink myself and i certainly cannot expect any potential future mother of my children to drink
is a pack of lies.
EventsRe: Can One Have A Small Wedding In Nigeria? by suprted(m): 8:03am On May 03, 2009
I'm having a small wedding. In fact, if I can get married in jeans, it's happening.

Ok, maybe not, but definately a small wedding. Some people just want the wedding not the marriage.

To be honest, if my significant other doesn't want a small wedding, we probably aren't going to agree on a lot.

these churches just give christians a bad name. churches should be licensed, far too many people are just starting up churches playing on the naivete of nigerians. sad thing is that any agency would just be yet another source of chopping.
SportsRe: Does The English Premier League Kill Nigerian Soccer Stars Or Make Them. by suprted(m): 9:20pm On May 02, 2009
some people just watch football to feel among. they should just stick to watching badly-dubbed mexican soaps on ait.  case in point the mongs in this thread saying rio ferdinand is crap.  which is why man u were shipping goals when he was injured huh.  both ferdinand and vidic are not as good without the other partnering them.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: The Nigerian Air Force Is Recruiting! by suprted(m): 1:22am On May 01, 2009
this is why we will never progress, so what if they are employing people? to do what? if they are going to go sit around and do nothing, then what is the need to employ them? just give them the money willy nilly.
PhonesRe: What's Your Current Ringtone? by suprted(m): 11:44am On Apr 09, 2009
Metal Gear Solid codec beeping is my ring tone. It doesn't sound really special.

SMS alert is the sound that gets made when the guards see you, also from metal gear solid.
LiteratureRe: Can You Remeber The First Book You Read? by suprted(m): 4:59am On Apr 02, 2009
it was some puffin or penguin children's book about moles and porcupines im sure.

but the first book i actually remember reading out loud was something with donald duck inside. i remember i could read but because i was quiet and a little slow in writing (i was left handed and it was awkward when you watched the teacher do it) they thought i was mentally challenged or something. the teacher saw me reading it silently and accused me of reading the pictures.

i looked up at her and read what i was reading on the page perfectly. oh that i could see the look on her face again.

NYSCRe: Help Please! Advice For Expatriate Going For Nysc by suprted(m): 4:29am On Apr 02, 2009
this is how people fail exams.

someone comes asking for help and you're debating the word a person used.

thats nigerians for you- number one at being bitter, jealous haters.

and NYSC is a joke, doing CD once a week is NOT service to your country. i would have so much more respect for it if it was like military service instead of a government sanctioned internship.
Music/RadioNaija Punk Rock by suprted(op): 1:25am On Apr 02, 2009
So there's Irish Punk Rock, which uses traditional irish instruments and rhythms and fuses it with punk rock.  eg. dropkick murphys or flogging molly

there's also gypsy punk rock, which uses accordions and stuff and traditional gypsy rhythms like gogol bordello

am i the only one who thinks it would be cool if there was Naija punk rock, fusing our traditional instruments and stuff with punk rock rhythms.
CultureRe: Solve The Nigerian Problem By Banning Our Local Languages. by suprted(m): 11:13pm On Mar 16, 2009
while banning languages is counterproductive, the poster raises some points.

we definately need to crush tribalism. i would like to see a meritocracy where the best people for the job are appointed/elected. as it is, cabinet is too big, because we have to ensure every state is represented, screw that. (for example the US has about 15 departments or 15 people you would call ministers)

if a state does not have anyone good enough to be a minister tough noogies. for too long people have coasted in mediocrity and we've accepted it based on this need for quotas.

RomanceRe: Interracial Dating & Marriage ("Jungle Fever") by suprted(m): 9:22pm On Mar 16, 2009
botha is a dick though. anything he says is invalid.

some points in this.

i don't believe people necessarily marry white people for residency, surely if this was the case, they would just as soon as easily marry blacks?

personally, i don't care where you're from or who you are as long as we get along.

@fab- so did you get the ipod  cheesy  that was hilarious.

i agree with both points raised but it depresses me to see people prostitute themselves.  and @gabrywyl- not all those people are beautiful a lot of the time wink

PoliticsRe: Court Orders INEC To Allow Nigerians Abroad To Vote by suprted(m): 4:34am On Jan 29, 2009
Do people at home even know what the manifesto of each party is or what each candidate stands for? Seems to me like it doesn't make a difference if you vote from Mars or from your hometown as you will still be voting through the same fog of ignorance.
