I rememeber my MIL bathing my baby and held him with one leg and turned him upside down. That was the first and last time she bath him because i told her immediately that it is wrong. When she insisted on my baby using teething powder too, i insisted that he wont use it. ( i am not saying those that use it did not do right) but i just did not want to do anything the paedetricians do not recommend. When my baby had eela too and she brought herb saying he will drink some. I told her my baby wont drink it. She knows me well, i stand my ground when it comes to this kind of things. May we not bury our children. Amen |
just saw this. Mamas always stand your ground no matter what. #anonymous post #RantHQ# Please post anonymously.. I'm grieving bitterly right now. I gave birth to my son some months ago.. My mom is late so my husband's mom came around to help me. Although she is very nice and we get along only that sometimes she can be quite stubborn with her opinions. We have been quarrelling since I had my baby.. Because she tried to impose something's I'm not comfortable with. Few weeks after birth.. We went to the hospital for vaccines.. They told us not to bath him that night. So we went home. He was cranky.. Crying and I couldn't help myself from crying long with him. My MIL started preparing bathing water.. I quickly said mummy no o. He can't bath tonight.. The nurses said so.. She laughed and said I should stop acting as if she didn't train all her 7 children. I didn't respond I took the baby inside and continued to pet him. My husband came in from work and collected him even without changing his work clothes.. He started singing funny songs to him and he was getting calmer. I stepped into the kitchen to serve his dinner only for me to hear scream from baby.. I ran out.. Hubby was sitting and taking off his shoes. I said where is baby? He said mummy took him.. She said if she gives him a bath his body would be calm and he would stop crying. I ran to the bathroom and saw her bathing him.. Ahhh Mom! But I told you his nurse advised we don't bath him only for tonight.. She didn't answer..she kept pressing his body with very hot water and massaging him. Including the injection spot and my little baby was winning in pain. I was tempted to snatch him away but I held my self together.. She finally finished bathing him then she started throwing him up.. Quite high.. I said that's enough mom.. But she continued repeatedly. unfortunately as she was about to catch him he slipped and fell hard to the tiled floor. My heart froze..i rushed to pick him but he wasn't moving.. I started crying and panicking. Hubby rushed in too. Mama started crying. We rushed to the hospital. I was begging God and crying on the way to have mercy on me and my child but they said he was no longer breathing.. Just like that ?? They did all sorts to recuperate him but he didn't move.. They pronounced him dead. I cried my heart out. A child I suffered to birth just went like that!!! This message is not meant to cast a stone at mama.. I know she didn't intend for that to happen. My message to moms especially new moms is trust your motherly instincts.. Whatever you are not okay with concerning your child, don't allow it.. Anyone that tries to make you feel like you don't know enough about being a mother.. Stay away from them.. If you can get pregnant and nurse a child for nine months.. There's nothing you can't do for that child as a mother. Avoid throwing fragile little babies up.. It's medically not ideal as their brain is to tender and can trigger shock.. (elderly women believe babies should be thrown to avoid fear but it's just a myth) don't endanger your child to satisfy any one. I'm still grieving especially as I witnessed the death with my eyes. May we no experience any evil loss. |

comtem2011:Wow! You are so lucky. See me thinking it is because of exclusive breastfeeding. Now i know he is not just interested in eating. I end up throwing most of the food away. Only if he knows how much energy i use trying to fix his food. choi, i don suffer. I am hopeful sha. |
comtem2011:Did you do exclusive breastfeeding? I think exclusively breastfed babies rejects food more compared to those who were not. |
Trendytessy:My baby is just like yours. He does not want to eat anything whatsoever. He will close his mouth completely when it is food time which frustrates me. When i forcefully put food in his mouth,he will spit it out, he will even blow bubbles with d food and have fun ( omo olomo). What has been helping so far, when it is meal time, i put him in front of tv and play babies songs for him, put spoon in his other hand and surround him with toys. He will watch babies song and get carried away, tries to put the spoon/any of the toys in his mouth and open the mouth wide, i take advantage and put food in it. He will get angry and spit them out, i persevere and keep doing it. Now, once d food is in his mouth he just swallows and enjoy it. The only thing is that he will never open his mouth. That is the battle i have been battling since he was 6 month and now he is 7 month and it is improving with time. I spend like 1hr on each feed. It is really stressful but i know with time it will get better. |
Roseey0:Exactly what i do. I look for pictures uploaded by buyers. The truth is most of the cloths are kinda inferior. I havnt use alli express before though. I use Wish and i have bought cloths from there twice. They were not bad but kinda inferior compared to US cloths and d rest. I rather buy other household items but not cloths. |
booqee:Trust me your baby does not need any drug for colic, as it will go on its own with time. I use to put my baby on his back and do the bicycle motion with his legs and it does help. Try and avoid using drugs for your baby. My son is 7 months and the only drug he has use is tylenol ( like paracetamol) and that was once when they circumcized him. Except baby is sick pls avoid drugs ma. |
dapotemi:I wiĺl do anything for my baby to eat like this |
HolySteph:I started breastfeeding my baby while laying down from around 4 weeks as standing up to feed him through the night was really stressful for me and he does not have to wakeup while feeding and i will have to go through the stress of trying to make him sleep again.I am the busty type so my breast usually cover his nose sometimes so i make sure i stay awake till he removes his mouth. Also, i make sure i use the same breast all through the night. Reason is that when i first started, in the middle of the night, i change to another breast which by that time will have so much milk and by the time he sucks and sucks, sometimes he starts having reflux (milk coming out of his nose) this stopped when i feed him with just one breast. As convenient as the whole thing is u just have to be careful by making sure you are awake while he feeds so your breast does not block the nose.

omotolanibaby:Thanks mama but my baby does not know how to suck from bottle that is why i spoon feed him. |
Mamas please how do you make a child who was breastfed exclusively to start eating? My 6 months old don dey plan for me now. Once he sees me bringing his plate na to close mouth so tey no body can open it. I am tired of forcing him as he keeps crying and crying. Please help a worried mum. |
Tojued:ok. Thank u |
Tojued:Yea. I actually rasted them and noticed they are not so sweet. Did you add milk to yours? |
enque:Ok. Thank u ma. |
Please does any mama use this and the Gerber oat too? How good are they? My son will be 6 months soon. I need to know if babies love them
|
Nimi22:Since he is on EBF, i think u need to breastfeed more. Are u sure he eats when you breastfeed him cos sometimes they dont. Do you hear the sound of him swallowing the milk? When i notice my son is not peeing as usual, i make sure i breastfeed him and i will notice the difference. Between 1:30 and 5 is a long and if well fed should have pee like 3 times. |
HolySteph:Most people keep baby warm when they are newly born because they are straight from the womb which is warm and if exposed now that they are with us, they may feel cold and all and they are too young to regulate there body temperature but please dont keep ur baby too hot to the extent of sweating that is not cool as baby can even start having skin issues. If you notice he is too hot pls reduce the cloths he has on. Babys cloth should be a layer thicker than urs. |
lady25:You do not have to use warm water in his anus. Babies on exclusive breastfeeding can go 2weeks without pooin g so calm down mayb the discomfort is due to colic which will go with time. |
enque:Same with me ò. I have been using the pink fair and white since 2008 back in Uni. I cant fit to be disturbing my head on cream issue. |
realtalk19:We are all learning mama as no one is an island. |
realtalk19:I am not saying spirit is not effective and safe. I am just saying what i was told at the hospital and it worked for me and baby never got an infection. When i was told this, i had to talk to my sis who is a medical doctor and a mother of 4 and she told me they use methylated spirit and was laughing saying all this oyinbo and the way they do there things self and ask me to do as i was told and showed at the hospital. I also went to google and saw that they are dispensing the use of spirit and that was when i was calm about it. I did as i was told and like i said earlier, it healed very well and no infection as long as u keep the place dry and clean it during every diaper change. I just got this from babycenter "Don't use alcohol to clean the stump. The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) used to recommend cleaning the base of the stump daily with a cotton swab dipped in rubbing alcohol. But researchers have found that untreated cords heal faster than alcohol-swabbed cords and carry no more risk of infection, so the AAP changed its recommendation" |
happymama:Atleast u were told to use gel, i never use anything on my sons cord. At the hospital, we were told to just clean with cotton bud after every diaper change to ensure it is dry. They said if we as adult have a wound or sometin that are we going to like it if spirit is used on the wound so same apply to babys. I strictly adhered to d cotton bud thing and in less than 2 weeks it fell off and healed beautifully. So dont be scared i am sure they know what they are doing or wait for other mamas to put mouth. |
enque, please i am so much interested. I cant wait to loose all this fat. |
moonert:Hello mama, as per your question, i remember asking my gynae at my 6weeks post partum appointment about having baby with 2years interval and she told me she will advise i go for c section and if baby comes naturally, then cool but she will advise c section. From when you had your baby and when u are due i can see your babies will be 2years apart which is exactly how i planned to have mine too. Then some weeks ago, i met a woman whose daughters uterus ruptured after Vbac, this left the baby's brain severely damaged ( it will never be our portion) and i made up my mind to go for csection again for my next pregnancy. If it is 3yrs interval i would have just said u can go for it. Please let d fear of c section not make us do what we might regret. Note: i do not know the interval btw d ladys children cos i ddnt want to ask too much questions. Talked to your doctor and i trust u will make a good decision for u and baby. Take care |
Taymi:Sorry about that ma'm. Did he take the rota vaccine? If he did, that might be a reaction from it. If he did not, i dont think the others can cause baby to purge. |
MamaDG:I understand you perfectly ma, cos my baby has d same issue. His paedetrician prescribed stuffs for him and they never work. When mil was coming to canada where i live, she brought agbo and blacksoap. forwhere,d thing did not work. I had sleepless night, browsed d internet, cried self cos i felt i couldnt help my baby. I used all aveeno products including the new night balm nothing worked until i mix a little funbact A inside plenty shea butter reluctanly cos of what i have heard and read about it. I use d mixture of his face for just 5days n stopped then his body for 2weeks. And then did a mixture of sheabutter, coconut oil and a little bit of olive oil as his normal cream. Now, my babys face is sooo fresh.(Though he stil has some mark on his stomach which is fading out with each passing day) What i am trying to say in essence is that once other methods fail and u cant just watch the so called ela spoil ur babys skin, you wont know when u will mix skineal abi funbact a with ori. My advice is to do it for a very short time and stop. I never regret ever doing it. |

angeltolly:My baby was circumcised at one month too and i was present when the whole thing was done. 30mins to the time, we were asked to give him baby tylenol ( like paracetamol) after which he was injected at d site and cut ( yea he cried abi na scream.lol) and that was it. We were asked to put vaseline on d site for 2 weeks (no ring). He cried for like the first 3 times he pee after which he was fine. He just slept all though the day. We weŕe asked not to give him a normal bath for like 2days so we just use wash cloths and water to clean him up. Also no baby wipes when he does the major, we cleaned him up with wash cloth and water. The experience wasnt easy for me but it sure was worth it. |
Debclem:Hello ma, during my pregnancy, i had the rhogham shot at 28 weeks and another at 40 weeks ( that's the practice where i live once u are overdue). After having my baby, i notice that i wasnt given and i had to as why cos of d fear of sensitization. I was informed that immediately my son was born, they did his blood group which turned out to be negative as well( sMe blood group as mine) so i did not need it. If ur hospital can have this done after baby is born, then u might just take d 28weeks own and mayb lucky not to take after birth. |
?? They did all sorts to recuperate him but he didn't move.. They pronounced him dead. I cried my heart out. A child I suffered to birth just went like that!!!
