Hi everyone, Goodafternoon and happy Sunday...

I hope someone gives me a listening ear here...

I'm a lady of diverse views and beliefs about religion, let's just say I'm a Christian because I'm married to a Christian, I have a child and I'm expectant of the next...I follow my hubby to church just to make him happy...I'm a member of the choir because I've got a great voice and I love to sing.....

Something happened recently to me....
I went for a vigil and the preacher (invited guest), started prayers, even as a regular Christian, I ain't a fan of shaking body and head vigorously when praying, so the preacher insisted EVERYONE stands, but I rebelled and refused to do as he says, and because he noticed that I was a member of the choir, he said right from the altar that I ain't supposed to be a minister, immediately my heart sank, the following day, The issues generated lots of controversies in the church, and the group has decided to punish me, I don't know what the punishment will be, but I guess it will either be an indefinite suspension or I'm being asked to apologize to the whole church....

Normally, if I weren't married, I would leave the church with immediate effect, as I do not think I should be forced to pray in a way and manner I do not believe in...

But I'm married, my husband would not have me go to another church, while I stay at home...
I'm also thinking of what effect this would have on my kid and my home (marriage) in general...

Happy sunday ma'am...We live in a society dt frowns or outrighlty castigates pple who dnt seem to be as religioua as every1 around dem or eho r flat out atheist or agnostic...so i suggest 4 nw jst kip up the charade....The pastors in the churvhes nw r considered demigods and wateva dey say is considered the best practice..No wonder d manipulate tge pple of their congregation wit impunity...

If its a suspension serve it and if u asked to apologize in front of d church although dis myt b difficult or even chastening ..pls go ahead and do it..wldnt take notin frm you and wldnt inteodice strains in2 ir marriage...

Every woman body mechanism is different. So let her be and appreciate her presence until God calls her.

Do u know there are some young wives who do not wish to work. Have seen young married women who prefer to stay at home, breed kids, cook and simply attend to home duties, than go out there and hustle. Women of 26, 30,35,40, etc. They are everywhere world wide.
They just want to be housewife and there is nothing there husband can do about it, than to manage the situation

Mourn dude. Go somewhere quiet and weep. Think about the good times and bad times with him and weep deep. Get it out of your system.

I almost developed health issues after the death of my dad. I refused to cry. Heck, I laughed and joked in public most times. But I was being consumed inside, like a black hole that just kept getting bigger. After a while I couldn't even sleep.

I finally suddenly and unexpectedly burst into tears one day. Went into a security man's post to weep (the guy must have been shocked ). It lasted about 20mins but it helped a lot. Wiped my tears and came out grinning again and all was well.

Seriously, take time out and do a private memorial, just you and him. You'll feel better.

Didnt cry after my dad passed..

Then out of the blues 9yrs later..i cried like av neva cried b4..Cried 4 almost an hour...

my eyes were blood red n my head was pounding!..

There just seem to be a lot more. A majority are closet atheists in real life. The number of people in Nigeria that don't believe in the conventional idea of God are far more than you think. I understand but to be honest at the present stage of our development religion serves a purpose - a purpose of hope. Imagine if not the hope that are the center of every religious messages in Nigeria what the suicide rate would have looked like. Imagine if most people could analyze the economy situation of the country correctly and realize that they are doomed that no matter how hard they fight they are never escaping poverty. On the other hand they were raised to not believe in message of hope and salvation and the promise of a better life hereafter if only they are patient enough. In such a hopeless state and with the understanding that dead puts an end to all the suffering without the possibility of having to answer for it after life most people will willing opt out of life.

In my opinion religion gatherings is our version of receiving psychological and emotional help in dealing with the situation we found ourselves in.

Very true Sir.. We've not yet fully attained the economic, cultural n psychological maturity required to b mostly non religious.. The best we can hope for at dis stage of our development is a less fanatical religious system..

In as much as there are still majority that believe in the existence of a God but majority are still not religious and do not believe in the traditional punish/reward awaits us after dead or that there is someone looking over us.

The have their moral flaws but when it comes to working for the good of everyone or treating people as human I think we are no where near them.

We only treat our families and close friend with decency but when it comes choosing between our individual progress or that of the entire community irrespective of whether our families and close friends fall among the entire community in comparison we are most likely to go with self. To me that is the greatest impediment to our development as a nation.

There is a big hole in your assertion. In most Western European countries majority of the population do not believe in life after death ( by your statement there is nothing to keep them in check hence there is a big chance that chaos will reign) but as today they have the "most humane" leaders and citizens that are considerate and respect the sanctity of lives of their fellow citizens (at least majority of them). Now place this societies side by side Africa/middle East both happen to have majority of faith based inhabitants compared to the world, given the "check and balances" and chance of loosing put from life after that we have been promised, these two region are home to the "most inhumane" political leaders you ever think. The citizens are not left out in both being inconsiderate and pain in the neck of their neighbors.

Please brother can you at least give us an explanation of why things are that way?
