A group of activists in the country have declared on Wednesday that any corrupt Judge found guilty of corruption by the Court of Competent Jurisdiction should bag jail term of seven years in consonance with sections 98, 99 and 494 of the Criminal Code of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and Section 172 & 209 and part 5th schedule, part 1 of section 6&8 of the amended 1999 Constitution, rejecting the recent approach of the men of the Department of State Security Service (DSSS) in arresting the few Judges of the Federal High and Supreme Court over corrupt practices by invading their Houses with unconventional weapons which was inimical to the code of Conduct of a security agents.

They also advised President Muhammdu Buhari led- Federal Government to extend its anti-corruption crusade to the State Judiciary of the Federation where the corrupt practices have been nurturing to the highest ebb, saying that the depth of the corruption in the nation’s judiciary were enormous that needed to be curtailed frontally within the ambit of the law.

The activists under the aegis of Centre for Human Rights and Social Justice(CHRSJ) were drawn from; The Christian Awareness Mission Group(CAMG),Passengers Fundamental Rights Group(PATRGIA),The Islamic Political Awareness Group(TIPAG),Centre for Social Justice and Equity of Nigeria(CESJEN),Veteran Groups for Operation Clean Crusade(VGOCC),
Apata-Aiyeraye Social Political Volunteer Group(ASPVG), De-Mainstream Independent Group(DMIG) and Coalition Against Illegal Arrest & Unlawful Detention (CAIA&UD).

Others were; Centre for Constitutional Rights and Counter Corruption Crusader, Save Lagos Group(SLG) ,The Conscience Mainstream(TCM),African Masses Voices for Survival (AMVS),The Christians Youths for the Peoples’ Rights and Development(CYPRD),Islamic Movement for Muslims’ Rights(IMMR),Divine Nigerians Liberators for Peoples’ Fundamental Rights(DNLPFR) and The Christians Volunteers Groups for Good Governance in Nigeria(TCVGGGN).

Speaking through its National Coordinator, Comrade Adeniyi, Alimi Sulaiman, in a statement which was made available to newsmen, after their emergency meeting on the “State of Nation” in respect of recent arrest of some Judges for alleged perceived bribery scandal, insisted that all the corrupt judges should not be allowed to escape the long arm of the law because justice should take its due course without minding whose ox is gored.

They stated that the recent revelation by finding Millions of naira in different currencies in the residence of the arrested Judges by the men of State Security Service during their operation, had undermined the public confidence in the entire judicial system of the country, adding that the revelation had also eroded the judiciary of its integrity with the notion that judiciary was the last hope of common man on the street.

They urged President Buhari to take the cleanse of the judiciary and other sector of the country of corrupt practices with utmost seriousness in line with the section of the fundamental law of the land (the Constitution) in section 15(5) that the State shall abolish all corrupt practices and abuse of power, noting that the corruption should be fought to a standstill by all and sundry.

According to them “The fight against the cancer of corruption in Nigeria should be dealth with frontally because the menace has affected every segment of our society which impeding the nation’s socio-economic and political development and growth. To us, with the revelation from the operation of the men of the Department of State Security Service (DSSS) that millions of naira was met in the houses of the affected Judges. Thorough, credible and unbiased investigation should be conducted into the whole saga and all the affected Judges should be prosecuted according to the law of the Land. But, by not following the rule of law in the fight against corruption may capable of disturbing the struggle against the menace.

The indiscrete and brazen invasion of the premises of three Justices of the Supreme Court by the officers and men of the Directorate of Security Services, DSS at about 1.am in the mid-night in the supposed “sting operation”, has once again exposed Nigerian nation to international opprobrium and ridicule.

The visitation of the law enforcement agents at the unholy hours of the night to disturb the sleep and peace of these “priests in the temple of justice” is overtly detestable and supremely abominable to say the list. The lawless gambit was apparently sequel to the alleged itchy palm that trailed their adjudication of election petitions.

The time-honoured aphorism which contends that honour ought to be given to who it is due ought to have restrained the men and officers of the DSS. By their exalted and sublime position in the three arms of government, the Judges ought to have been given the benefit of doubt and solemnly invited to the DSS office to explain allegations on how they went about the adjudication of volatile election matters.

Thus a resort to violence in scaling the gates and breaking the doors of the houses of these highly responsible and honourable public officers to gain entry into the buildings smacked of primitive and crude mind-set of the men and officers of the DSS.

The brazen exploit has drew animadversions from not only members of the Bar and Bench but from well- meaning Nigerians. Ordinarily, no same person in Nigeria applauds flagrant abuse of public office in any guise; more so when the eradication of the cancerous social menace of corruption constitute a mantra in the APC-federal government.

Realistically speaking, the angst that cut across virtually all strata of the Nigerian society has its source and sprang from the common-place unrepentant repetition of the brazen impunity of law enforcement agencies including the military and the para-military which go unpunished by the federal government due to nepotism based on ethnic and religious fault-lines.

In as much as the services of the DSS are of paramount significant in the war against corruption, their persistently woeful and adamant refusal to go about their official duties ad assignments in a civilized manner has made people to perceive them as public nuisance and grossly irresponsible public officers.

A House of Representatives member for Orumba North-South in Anambra State, Mr. Sopuluchukwu Ezeonwuka, has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to come to terms with his position as the President of Nigeria.

Ezeonwuka spoke at Oko, Orumba North Local Government Area of Anambra State on Saturday during his reception by the Okeani General Assembly.

He accused the Buhari administration of bigotry and lopsidedness in actions.

He said, “The moment you contested an election and won, you become the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and not the President of the North or South.

“Check out the appointments made by President Muhammadu Buhari, south easterners was nowhere.
In appointments of 24 persons, you have 21 from the North, one or two in the South-West, one in the South-South, and none in the South-East.

“It’s quite unfortunate that Buhari has not yet assumed the position of the President of Nigeria. He is like somebody on a specific mission.”

The lawmaker, who is a member of the House Committee on Customs, pointed out that no person of Igbo origin was represented in the Customs management.

“The APC government should know that we are an integral part of this country called Nigeria. One thing is clear; the marginalisation of the Igbo will not last long. If you keep telling some people that you don’t want them, they can take a decision,” he concluded.

I am carrying this task after working at close quarters with these three key characters and most importantly being propelled with the burning patriotic desire to always educate the public on related issues and politics of Niger Delta region but before I go further on this task, let me take permission from you the reader, particularly those who may not know these characters properly, to present them to you accordingly”.



Who Really Betrayed the Niger Delta Region? Jonathan, Amaechi or Wike?

Preamble:

The main aim of this treatise is to unearth, among (Jonathan, Amaechi and Wike) three key sons of Niger Delta region of Nigeria who is or are the detractor(s) and betrayer(s) of the region. For avoidance of doubt, Niger Delta region comprises nine states, namely: Rivers, Bayelsa, Delta, Edo, Ondo, Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Imo and Abia.

On the other hand, this treatise will concern itself with the major political actors and actions in Rivers State, as the state was the main theatre of the political war in the Niger Delta region, both now and in the past. The State is one of the 36 States of the federation, while its capital, Port Harcourt is the largest city in the region and is economically significant as the centre of Nigeria’s oil industry.

The fact remains that Rivers State has over the years evolved as the oil and gas nerve-centre of Nigeria. It has a growing population of about 5.1 million (the sixth most populous state in the country) and an impressive GDP of 21.07 billion USD – which is bigger than that of most African countries, such as Botswana, Rwanda, Nambia, Lesotho, etc.

The enviable economic and socio-political scorecard of Rivers State has made it a war theatre, occasioned by some unscrupulous politicians that use the youths to cause deaths and mayhem among the citizenry of the state and the region at large. Because of the significance of this city, the Niger Delta region is confronted with security challenges, especially illegal bunkering, piracy, cultism, oil pipeline destruction, kidnapping, armed robbery, political killings, etc.

In this treatise therefore, I will be relying mainly on three key releases: the Rivers State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) press statement alleging or rather accusing Rt. Hon Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi as betraying the Niger Delta region; the reaction of Rivers State All Progressives Congress (APC) refuting the PDP stand, stating that instead it is Dr Jonathan Goodluck and Governor Nyesom Wike, that are the main culprits in this regard.

I will also present the communiqué issued by the Amaechi-influenced peace imitative aimed at finding solutions to the restive state of the Niger Delta region, which was the issue of confrontation between the PDP and APC promoters. At the end of your reading, you will be left to judge who among these three key sons have actually betrayed the region.

PDP’s allegation against Amaechi

Now that the aim of this study is defined, let me for avoidance of any doubt state that the idea to write on this issue of betrayal stemmed from the PDP statement of Tuesday, September 27, 2016, issued by Jerry Needam on behalf of his boss, Bro Felix Obuah, chairman of the Rivers State chapter of PDP.

Though the statement was not titled, it was the party’s reaction to the peace initiative engineered by Rt. Hon Amaechi, erstwhile governor of Rivers State and current Federal Minister of Transportation, to restore peace to the restive region of Niger Delta.

According to PDP, “The vaunted Niger Delta Peace Initiative by the Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Amaechi, is another hidden device to test the waters for his political ambition in 2019.

The purported peace initiative is a ruse, as the forum is an assemblage of All Progressives Congress’ members put together to try to see if Amaechi’s huge credibility problem could be redeemed.

The people of Niger Delta whom Amaechi has grossly betrayed can never be deceived again and need not be told that the purported peace initiative is true to speculations, the mechanism Amaechi hopes to use to actualise his 2019 political ambition.

“Though he is day-dreaming, we are however, shocked that Amaechi, who has shamelessly brought so much insult to the people of Niger Delta, playing a major role in pushing out the son of the Niger Delta as the president of this country, in preference to his new-found love, and killer of his kinsmen (no thanks to the military invasion of Rivers State) will, against all odds, be nursing the ambition to launch a come-back to the region, after inflicting so much pains and agony on the people.”

Rivers APC’s reaction

The Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress aptly replied the venomous statement of PDP – on a man well known for his peaceful disposition – in its release of Wednesday, September 28, entitled “R/S PDP ‘Basket of Deplorables’ Must Leave Chibuike Amaechi Alone’ – R/S APC,” issued by its state publicity secretary, Chief Chris Finebone, which reads: “The attention of the Rivers State Chapter of All Progressives Congress, APC, has been drawn to a press statement by the Chairman of Rivers State chapter of Peoples Democratic Party, Felix Obuah, and signed by his media aide, Jerry Needam, claiming that the recently convened Niger Delta stakeholders engagement meeting under the auspices of the Initiative for Peace, Governance and Development of the Niger Delta, was a platform for the Minister of Transportation, Hon Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, to burnish his political agenda. Ordinarily, the temptation is to ignore this PDP basket of deplorables who delight themselves with all manner of obscene immoderation every now and then. However, it is important to protect innocent Rivers people and Nigerians from the malevolent propaganda these diminished characters shamelessly place in public domain, by rolling back their mischief with discreet facts. A cursory reading of the PDP statement reveals an incoherent and disjointed write-up that can only come from authors who so urgently require medical look-in by the best hands that can be found around here.

“The few issues that can be pieced together from the statement point to the fact that Obuah and the PDP in Rivers State are still hurting from the exit of former President Jonathan from power. The APC would like to advise the PDP people to take another look at the national voting demographics of 2015 elections, and it will dawn on them that nothing [including massively rigged votes from Rivers State] would have saved the former president from defeat. Much more than that, the statement, in some ways, underscores the nexus between the hurting of 2015 election to wailing wailers, the spate of destruction of oil installations by the Avengers and other restive youths in the Niger Delta, and the recent blowing up of Shell trunk line to Bonny Export Terminal. Little wonder the PDP in Rivers State fails to see the need for peace, which the Abuja meeting was meant to bring about in the Niger Delta. Is anyone still wondering those behind the ongoing bombing and bursting of pipelines in the Niger Delta?

“The only other issue that can be deduced from the infantile seven-paragraph statement makes reference to betrayal of the Niger Delta by Amaechi, because the latter joined the APC and contributed his bit to the emergence of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration. It is sad that an individual that sold his soul to Satan and connived with Wike to steal a political party structure in broad daylight could muster the courage to talk about betrayal. What betrayal can be more than that exhibited by a man that was shot and left to die but was rescued and flown abroad to save his life. The same man turned around later to bite the hand that God used to save him. Indeed, Obuah should not forget to tell his children the true story of his miserable life.

“For the avoidance of doubt, let it be known to all that Amaechi as governor of Rivers State never had differences with former President Jonathan over personal matters. Whether on the vexed issue of NLNG Train 7, which the former president refused to approve or the matter of Soku oil wells that were taken and handed to Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom and Abia states, and many other touchy issues, Amaechi was only driven by the oath of office he took to protect lives and property of Rivers people as governor. No more!

“If really the issue is about betrayal, it was, indeed, former President Jonathan that betrayed Amaechi, Rivers people and Niger Deltans. His betrayal is typified by the state of the East-West Road during his administration, the Bomu-Bonny road, the Port Harcourt International Airport, Soku oil wells, refusal to refund N105 billion spent on Federal Roads by Rivers State Government, and many other issues too numerous to be listed here. On the ridiculous reference to Amaechi’s supposed ambition for 2019, such contemplation only exists in the terribly deluded mind and helplessly battered imagination of Obuah and his cohorts. Amaechi does not harbour nor has he told anyone that he is nursing any political ambition come 2019. That is not how the minister is wired politically.

“The APC wishes to advise Bro Obuah and the PDP to find a more meritorious pastime to engage themselves in, so as to subdue the cheap craving to drag an innocent man down – a task that is clearly beyond their station and reach.”

Obiano: I Have No Intention Of Leaving APGA – Those Saying I Joined APC Are Internally Displaced Politicians

Our attention has been drawn to a publication on page 14 of Punch newspaper of 7th October 2016 titled – “APGA Crisis: Obiano May Join APC,” which alleged that the Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano may dump the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) for the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The general public is hereby advised to disregard the report as it is totally false and does not have the slightest semblance of truth.

Governor Obiano remains a committed member of APGA whose loyalty to the party is unalloyed and whose passion for the growth and development of the party is beyond equivocation.

It is strange how a clique of internally displaced politicians has continued to circulate spurious and misleading information on a non-existent and sensational figment of their fevered imagination in order to sow confusion among the populace.

Despite the repeated rebuttal of this false report in the past, these vendors of untruth have continued to plant misleading information in the media about a false defection of Governor Obiano to one party today and another party tomorrow.

Nevertheless, we are not unaware that a major motive for the planting of these lies is to distract the governor from focusing on his job and consequently derail the steady and assured March of Anambra State to prosperity.

So, we shall continue to rebut their malignant lies and save the populace from their corrosive influence.

As the Leader and Chairman of BoT of APGA, Governor Obiano is fully aware of the weight and significance of his responsibility and will never waiver in his commitment to the party.

We therefore advise all mischief makers and authoritative speculators to desist from further efforts to create the impression that Governor Obiano has jumped political ship as it only creates doubts and credibility issues for such publications who are obviously diminished in the sight of discerning readers who would always recall that the report was misleading.

Ekiti State governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has described the invasion of residences of five judges, including those of two Justices of the Supreme Court – Justice Walter Onnoghen (who is in line to succeed the outgoing Chief Justice of Nigeria) and Justice Sylvester Ngwuta, by armed men of the Department of State Service (DSS) and reported arrest as a direct assault on the judiciary.

Governor Fayose, who addressed the press in Ado-Ekiti on Saturday, said; “It should now be obvious to all Nigerians and the international community that democracy is under threat in Nigeria and Nigerians must rise to save democracy from being truncated.”

The governor said; “For all intent and purposes, there is no how the federal government can justify the gestapo and crude action of the DSS against our judiciary, the last hope of the common man and I believe
they just want to hide under anti-corruption fight to blackmail and intimidate the judiciary. If not, have the affected judges been reported to the National Judicial Council (NJC), the body saddled with the responsibilities of investigating and sanctioning erring judges? Were the affected judges ever invited by the DSS and they refused to honour the invitation?

“I am particularly worried over the involvement of Justice Walter Onnoghen in the invasion, and I hope this is not a plot to prevent his appointment as the next CJN just because he is from the South South
region.

“Nigerians should be reminded that I raised similar alarm when this regime of impunity started with the invasion of the Akwa-Ibom State government house and later the Ekiti State House of Assembly.

“I did say then that democracy in Nigeria was becoming unsafe in the hands of this APC government and that those keeping silent because of politics might also end up in the belly of the roaring lion that is
threatening to consume our democracy. Then, those who ought to have joined in condemning the DSS impunity at that time kept silent for fear of the unknown. Now we have gotten to the height of it and Nigeria faces full-blown military dictatorship! This is sad!

APC Brands Alleged Abduction Of A Federal High Court Judge, Attempt On Gov. Wike’s Life As False Alarm

The Rivers State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC has described the alleged failed abduction of a Federal High Court Judge and the attempt on the life of Gov. Wike as false.

In a statement signed by the Publicity Secretary of Rivers State APC, Senibo Chris Finebone made available to NEWSFLASHNGR, the party said “early this morning, the media space was once again putrefied with a bizarre account by Gov. Nyesom Wike of his encounter with a detachment of security personnel and how he [the governor] was allegedly manhandled.”

The statement reads: “To give the incident more prominence in the media space, the governor, through his media assistant, Simeon Nwakaudu, issued a statement which opened with an assertion that what happened was part of a siege on Rivers State by the Federal Government of President Muhammadu Buhari.

“Ordinarily, this morning’s macabre dance by Gov. Nyesom Wike should not merit any serious interest from anyone, because everyone has become sick and tired of such from him, but for the innocent people and residents of Rivers State whom he subjects to unbridled lies and misinformation under one phantom excuse or the other.

There is no question that the melodrama is just one of the many chapters in Gov. Wike’s book on political demagoguery. Or how can anyone explain the many obvious inconsistencies that fly in the face of his highly mendacious account to the media this morning?

Indeed, we ask: “How come the governor said he did not know the occupant of the house? How did he find his way to the gate of a house he did not know the occupant? Is the judge of a federal high court under the governor of Rivers State? May be, yes but why? Is the federal high court, its judges and the DSS not belong to the same federal government?

“The APC believes that the governor is once again up to his dishonest self. We do not believe his account. We believe that the bizarre stunt of bravado being peddled by Gov. Wike is just for the purpose of convincing his collaborators in the judiciary in Rivers State that he will always protect them.

A group, Save Lagos Group has lamented the spate of kidnapping in Lagos State with a damning verdict that residents of the state are no longer save under the current administration led by Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode.

In a statement made available to Newsflashngr.com, the group in its swift reaction to the kidnap of school children and their teachers released on Friday, the Convener, Comrade Adeniyi A. Sulaiman and the Director of Media and Strategy, Comrade Olaolu Oladipo said the state government has been paying lip service to the issue of securing the lives and property of residents of the people in the state.

According to the group, the spate of insecurity in the state has assumed worrisome dimension under the current government, in spite of huge investment in security as claimed by the state government.

“We have been daily inundated (in the print media) that the state government has been investing heavily in its efforts to secure residents of the state.

As at the last count, the state government had claimed that it has expended over N4billion to procure security gadgets to equip security personnel attached to the various security agencies.

“To our surprise, the state has continued to record serious security breaches, most especially under the current government, a situation that calls to question, the integrity of the claims of the state government in this direction.” The statement reads in part.

According to the group, the kidnap of a traditional ruler in the state, the Oniba of Iba, Oba Yishau Oseni ought to have served as a wakeup call on the state government to live up to its responsibility of securing the state.

“Rather, the spate of kidnappings has gone on unabated with the state government having no clue on how to nip the scourge in the bud.

What is even more worrisome is the fact that these merchants of evil (owing to the laxity on the part of the state government) have carried their trade a notch further by raiding a school, carting away children and their teachers.”

There were indications that the Anambra state governor, Chief Willie Obiano,would review his membership of APGA.

A member of the NWC of the party who pleaded anonymity said yesterday on phone that he was suspended after it rose from its monthly meeting in Abuja, adding that suspension of the national Chairman was in line with the provisions of the party’s constitution. He said the suspension was as a result of findings that the chairman breeched the party’s constitution and his other inordinate practices.

But it was learnt the state governor, Chief Willie Obiano was not in support of the move to suspend the national chairman and tried in vain through phones calls to stop it and may join the rival All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.

“The governor was calling us to stop the suspension, but nobody listened to him.
“Now what we are hearing is that the governor may join the APC to realize his reelection next year. If that happens, you know what that means to our party Obiano is the only governor we have in APGA”, the source said

Chief Jerry Obasi who is the deputy national secretary of the party said the suspension was necessary to save the party from imminent self destruction and reposition it for greatness.

Governor Fayose, had early September, directed that History be reintroduced in schools in Ekiti State, noting that; “Ekiti people must learn from past events to have a better future.”

Last week Thursday, the Minister of Education, Malam Adamu Adamu, while declaring open, the ministerial session of the 61st National Council on Education (NCE), in Abuja, called for disarticulation of
Social Studies and reintroduction of History as a subject in the current Basic Education curriculum, adding that there was the urgent need to give the Nigerian children character.

Also yesterday, Tinubu, made a strong case for the return of History as a subject in the country’s school curriculum, saying any nation which forgets its past has lost a beacon to guide its actions. He said
this in a short remark after reviewing the book, entitled Muhammadu Buhari: The Challenges of Leadership in Nigeria, at the International Conference Centre, Abuja.

In his reaction, Governor Fayose, who spoke through his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka made available to Newsflashngr.com said he was happy that those holding power in Abuja listened to what he said on September 2, 2016 on the need to reintroduce History in our schools.

He described the removal of History as a subject from the current Education curriculum as a mistake that should be corrected without further delay.

“I have consistently maintained that democracy is about those in power listening to the people because the power of the people is greater than the power of those in power and I am glad that on this one, they
listened.

“The reality we must all face is that no society can progress without reference to its pasts, and one of the reasons our value system has been so bastardised is that we no longer talk about our past. We no longer tell our children what our past leaders did either wrongly or rightly.”

Speaking further, Governor Fayose said; “When we were growing up, we were made to read about great leaders of our nation like Obafemi Awolowo, Nnamdi Azikiwe, Tafawa Balewa, Ahmadu Bello, Aminu Kano, King Jaja of Opobo and so on. We read what made them great and that shaped our lives.”

While admonishing those holding power at the federal level to listen more to the opposition, Governor Fayose said; “When we speak, the impression should not always be that we hate President Mohammadu Buhari and his government. Rather, it should be about how beneficial is what we say to the country.”

WAEC had refused to release the results over unpaid debts owed it by the Bayelsa state government. By implication, pupils who mad respective cut off marks in the last Unified Tertiary and Matriculation Examination might forfeit their admissions.

But in a statement issued by the state publicity secretary, Fortune Panebi, the APC berated Governor Seriake Dickson, accusing him of deliberately scuttling the destinies of bright children who are leaders of tomorrow.

”While the situati the non payment of teachers’ salaries in Bayelsa continues to be an embarrassment to all and sundry even as the governor’s deliberate impoverishment of public servants has now become an ego issue on his part, a far more dangerous twist is looming in the education sector in Bayelsa state.

”This is the seizure of the results of secondary school pupils by WAEC over the state government’s refusal to pay statutory dues. This is a brazen act, the height of irresponsibility on the part of a government. To say the least, Governor Dickson is deliberately wasting away a generation of tomorrow’s leaders due to his inaction in this regard.

”While we call on well meaning individuals to prevail on the governor, we sympathize with the parents of the pupils for this pain, an ordeal not worth it for whatever reason. To the affected pupils, while we pray for a divine intervention in this regards, we share in your distress, despair and disappointment.

‎It will be recalled that public primary and secondary schools in Bayelsa have yet to resume for the 2016/2017 session because of the failure of the state government to settle their seven months salary arrears.
The teachers embarked on a strike at the end of the 2015/2016 long vacation which ended in the first week of September.

The day became more unique on 1st October, 1996 when Ekitiland was carved out of the old Ondo State to become one of the federating units of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Being a fulfillment of an age long struggle for self-determination, the day would ever remain evergreen as a historical milestone for ages. It is indeed a dream come true.

Our journey to statehood within the federation of Nigeria that began in 1996 is 20 years old today. I congratulate Ekiti Ketes, both at home and in the diaspora, for this watershed.

It is joy that mere words, no matter how well crafted, cannot fully express. Let us thank the Almighty God for making us what we are today. Ekiti people will forever remain grateful to the late General Sani Abacha for the creation of Ekiti State.

I also like to place on record the determination, ruggedness and focused struggles of our royal fathers, statesmen, elders and all those who were involved in championing the course of the creation of the State either directly or by proxy. I salute these men and women of great vision who saw what many did not see.

They sacrificed personal comforts and resources to liberate us from the miseries of under-representation, grave marginalization, deprivation and deliberate neglect that became the hallmark of our corporate existence as a people in our previous provincial or territorial alignment.

Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has described President Mohammadu Buhari as the major problem of Nigeria that Nigerians must solve, saying; “Our President, through his actions and inactions is
destroying everything that makes Nigeria a country and well-meaning Nigerians must stand-up to be counted in the crusade to save the country from going under.”

The governor said it was President Buhari that went to foreign countries to de-market Nigeria by calling all Nigerians thieves and dishonest people, asking; “Which foreign investor will invest his money in a country of dishonest people? The lopsided creation of states by the aberrant military regimes was arbitrary as they never bothered to consult the ethnic nationalities.

More states were created in the north with a devious agenda to have majority in the parliament so as to be having the upper hand in policies of the federal government.

The self-centred strategy was aimed at sustaining the objectionable quasi federal system of government that has led the country to the brink of a failed state status.

Anambra state was created in August 27, 1991 and since then the governors have been celebrating the anniversary of the state creation which gulp millions of fund that could be channelled to projects for the greatest good of the greatest number.

It has just celebrated the Silver Jubilee; 25 years and poised for the Golden Jubilee! Instead of abolishing the yearly frivolity and puffery, successive governors naively perceive the anniversary as sacrosanct even as has become a viable opportunity to siphon and waste public fund.

The bane of realistic development in Anambra state is lack of proper planning, priority setting and “incrementalism” in the sectors and sub-sectors. Health facilities are poor; for instance the only psychiatric hospital in the state is an eyesore lacking modern medical facilities and requisite manpower: even the wards lack windows and doors.

It was only Governor Chris Ngige that had demonstrated abstruse knowledge of public administration while others were frivolously-minded as they displayed woeful lack of knowledge of realistic project conceptualization to address the basic needs of the masses.

One of them exposed his limited knowledge of development administration as “developing all sectors simultaneously” as if public fund was an ocean. The much trumpeted “monumental developmental accomplishments” in Anambra state are nothing but neatly packaged propaganda bombardments.

Governor Chris Ngige reversed the monumental havoc in local government administration during the frivolous style of administration of his predecessor and channelled the monthly statutory allocations into road construction with 25 years guarantee.

Special Assistant to the Ekiti State Governor on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka has advised self-professed human rights activist and lawyer, Femi Falana (SAN) to desist from his unwarranted utterances against Governor Ayodele Fayose, saying; “it is obvious that Falana is driving himself sick because of his personal hatred for Governor Fayose and if care is not taking, his state of mind concerning the governor may graduate from psychology to psychosis one day.”

Olayinka, who was reacting to comment made by Falana at the maiden edition of Ekitipanupo colloquium in Lagos on Thursday that Governor Fayose was looting funds meant for the development of Ekiti State, said; “Falana should purge himself of his hatred for anything Fayose because he (Fayose) was not the one who scuttled his (Falana) ambition to be governor of Ekiti State.”

He said the self-professed human rights lawyer needed to get the anti-Fayose cataract that has blocked his eyes removed so that he can see all the developmental strides of Governor Fayose both during his first term and his second tenure, adding that; “particularly, all the dualised roads in Ado-Ekiti (except) two were done by Fayose. Today, which of the past governors in Ekiti can match Fayose’s achievements?”

The governor’s spokesperson, who challenged Falana to make public any evidence of Governor Fayose’s stealing of Ekiti State funds, said; “It is strange that Falana, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) could go
public with accusation of fraud against someone who has not been pronounced guilty by any court of law and the Legal Practitioners Privileges Committee (LPPC) must take particular notice of this,”
Olayinka said.

Olayinka, who maintained that Falana was only going about castigating Governor Fayose like he did between 2004 and 2006 because of his ambition to contest the Ekiti State Governorship election in 2018, said he (Falana) was still living under the illusion that he can achieve what he used the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to achieve against Governor Fayose in 2006 ten years after.

He challenged Falana to put pressure on his allies in the EFCC to look into the looting of Ekiti State treasury by the All Progressives Congress (APC) government of Dr Kayode Fayemi.

Olayinka asked; “Is Falana unaware of the diversion of N852, 936,713.92 counterpart fund paid by the Ekiti State Government to access the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) 2012 Marching

Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Ayodele Fayose yesterday signed the documents directing the Accountant General of the state to immediately refund monies inadvertently over-deducted from the salaries of teachers who had bought some facilities from government during the previous administration of Ex-Governor Kayode Fayemi, now Minister of Solid Minerals Development.

A few years ago, teachers had bought cars and laptops among other facilities from government on loan with an arrangement for monthly installment deductions from their salaries.

According to the Ekiti State chairman of the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT) , Comrade Samuel Akosile, the over-deductions from the teachers' salaries has been a perennial problem but when brought to the notice of Governor Fayose, he promptly set up a committee to look into the
complaints and gave them an ultimatum of 30 days to bring their report.

The report and its recommendations were submitted to the governor yesterday at Osuntokun hall of the government office, Ado-Ekiti, state capital. Signing the report and its recommendation and directing the accountant General to ensure the refund to reflect in the teachers' September salaries, Fayose said:
"There have been complaints of over-deductions in terms of facilities they have enjoyed such as laptop, car loans and others. The teachers have paid for these facilities but a deduction is still being made. And a proper system that is functioning is not supposed to be like that.

Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has described the postponement of the Edo State governorship election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as a very bad signal and beginning of the end for democracy in Nigeria, adding that; “it is obvious that the All Progressives Congress (APC) feared that it can’t win the election and is ready to employ whatever crude means to subvert the wish of the people.”

My last article titled “Who killed President Buhari?” earned me such a large number of assaults from the All Progressives Congress (APC) individuals and consistent theological rationalists of the President, Muhammadu Buhari.

In spite of all, as a Nigerian who had imagined on a few occasions, a serene, adoring, and developed Nigeria, stopping my supposition would be the exact opposite i would do.

As of late, i chose to glorify Buhari as president as opposed to mourning why he was ever given a possibility. I needed to concur that he merited the chance he got otherwise i could never possess the capacity to say to my grandkids how we had a President who managed the nation twice and drove it into recession twice.

Buhari is a man who has his shoulder higher than his head, he has so much loathe and outrage, he has so much control that he doesn’t know how to take a basic suggestion, is either you do what he needs or you get tormented by his admirers.

What’s my point? At the time when Buhari initially governed the country as the Military head of State in 1983, he was at that point named “Baba go slow” by the individuals who ousted him. ”We are worried that President Muhammadu Buhari has kept quiet since the allegation of diverting of grains meant for internally displaced persons in the IDP camps broke about three weeks ago.

”We are convinced that while the minister, Ogbeh is seriously looking for ways to settle himself, Lokpobiri is busy gathering money to prosecute political wars in his home state, Bayelsa.

But we ask, at whose expense? It is clear that both ministers are feeding fat on the hungry that is in the North East just because they don’t feel the pain of the insurgency.

4. Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai It might come to you as a surprise however many do not really know how much this army chief means to this nation, but if for any reason he falls in battle, it is as almost the entire Nigerian army has been defeated.

A tragedy such as this which we do not pray for can lead to great disorder, in the sense that the Nigerian army will stop at nothing to see that the region and the perpetrators of the act, will be ousted from the annals of history.

Anambra State is pursuing two tall dreams. First is to rank as the best run state in Nigeria; secondly, to emerge as the Taiwan of Africa.

This ambition resonated high last week as the state marked 25 years of its creation. Anambra was among the states created by the defunct military leadership on August 27, 1991.

The celebration was not similar to what obtained in the past. Clearly because it was a silver jubilee, the celebration was marked by colour and pomp.

But beyond the mirth, the leadership of the state did not mince word on what the preoccupation of the state is at the moment.

The state governor, Chief Willie Obiano at a news conference set the target of the state thus “Anambra state will be the food basket of Africa in the next 25 years.

“In the next 25 years, Anambra will not depend on federal allocation. It will be known as a state that transited to become the Taiwan of Africa.

“We are number one among states that were created 25 years ago. We pay salaries as and when due.
We are the safest state, and we have attracted billions of dollars in investment to the state.”

For the governor, there is no reason the state will not relent in pursuing its dream. On the road to realizing this lofty dream, he explained that the government has deliberately focused on providing primary infrastructure, security for lives, assets and investments and ensured good community relations and protection of investors from undue community harassment.

General Overseer of Mount Zion Faith Global Ministries Inc, (By Fire By Fire), Nnewi, Anambra State, Bishop Abraham Chris Udeh has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to immediately restructure the country into six regions.

He said failure to do so would be an invitation to disintegration.

Bishop Udeh said this in reaction to the current economic recession and agitation for self-determination sweeping across the South-south and South-east regions.

He said the economy of the nation would be more manageable if the country was structured into six regions with each of the con-federal regions managing its economy based on resources available to it and contribute to the central government.

Bishop Udeh insisted that the on-going economic crisis, militancy in the Niger Delta and the agitation of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) for self-determination would not abate until the country is restructured.

NEWSFLASHNGR- Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has called on President Mohammadu Buhari to listen to the cries of Nigerians and stop seeing those with opinions different from his own as threats to his power, saying; “The reality our President must face now is that there is too much hunger in the land, Nigerians are hungry, they are suffering and the President should rather listen to those who are more knowledgeable than him in terms of management of the country’s economy instead of seeing them as threats.”

The governor, who said reactions of the President and his men to divergent opinions had become predictable, added that; “this style of sending the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC),
Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission (ICPC), Department of State Services (DSS) and other agencies of the federal government against anyone that offers suggestions on how to rescue the country from total collapse is not in the best interest of Nigeria and its suffering masses.”

According to a statement issued in Ado-Ekiti on Wednesday by his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, the governor said President Buhari should realize that “a nation of hungry people is a nation of angry people” and seek help from economic experts in the country, not minding their political, religious and ethnic affiliations.”

Governor Fayose, who particularly singled out the two former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) governors; Emir of Kano, Alhaji Sanusi Lamido Sanusi and Prof. Charles Soludo, who spoke at different fora last
week, said; “Instead of adopting the usual style of trying to silence them with EFCC or ICPC, the President should listen to them and take their advice on board because they are expert in economic matters.”

He said; “It is no longer about politics. Rather, it is about preventing hunger from exterminating Nigerians and I am sure that the president himself knows that hunger does not understand political
parties.

“A bag of rice that was less than N8,000 when President Buhari assumed office is now over N20,000! How can a civil servant that is earning N18, 000 minimum wage survive when his monthly salary cannot buy one bag of rice?

“Even basic drugs and medicare are getting out the reach of the common people and the resultant effect of this will be avoidable deaths!
