Our great party calls on the government of Anambra state to outline the plan it has laid out for the management of anticipated heavy flooding along the coast of the Lower River Niger, which by projection will impact seven local government areas (LGAs) of Anambra State, with three more projected for second line impact.

We have moved away from 2012 when the APGA GOVERNMENT of the day celebrated its action of giving bread, butter and at after the event than plan on the basis of timely meteorological warning before.

We know it for a fact that government had casually advised people in the coastline to move, but we do not see that as a profound cause of action that should issue from a government that realizes its responsibility to the people.

Our fears are heightened by the fact that despite early signs and early warnings, the 2016 budget of Anambra State and subsequent supplementary budgets laid more emphasis on debts being incurred by Anambra State and monies being wasted by those who being close to the governor are not agencies of government but none the less spend government money.

Our call has arisen out of concern that if a flood occurs within Anambra State jurisdiction in the anticipated moment, government would begin their usual helter-skelter run and production of knee-Jerk documentaries that contain narratives of turning rights into privileges and seeking to earn credit from half-hearted palliatives on avoidable hazards.

We trust that this plan will be in the open before one week to enable Anambra State citizens understand their role if any in the anticipated humanitarian intervention.

The Bengaluru police on Monday, August 22, arrested a Nigerian national for alleged drug peddling and recovered cocaine worth Rs lakhs.

The suspect, Adinife Raphael, 37, was arrested after police received a tip-off on his activities.

They raided his home on Monday in the Bengaluru police station limits. The police found out that he had destroyed his passport.

Adinife arrived India in 2010. After two years in Mumbai and New Delhi, he settled down in Bengaluru in 2012. His visa and passport expired in 2015, but he continued to stay illegally in the country.

A Civil group, the Civil Societies Coalition for Emancipation of Osun State (CSCEOS) has expressed worry over the increase in the deduction of monthly allocation accrued to the State by the Federal Ministry of
Finance under the watch of President Muhammadu Buhari as a result of different unjustified loans incurred by the State governor, Mr. Rauf Aregbesola, alleging that about seventy-five percent (75%) of the loans were siphoned by Aregbesola and his cronies by carting it away to Lagos State.

It would be recalled that an Intelligent News Medium popularly called “Economic Confidential Magazine” has reported recently that Osun state under Aregbesola’s watch were leading State which Federal Government deducted a total sum of N36billion from their allocations in the month of April, 2016 and the State were worse hit by this development and ranks number one, as its allocation for the month of April 2016 totaling N2.030 billion was wiped away.

It also disclosed that Osun state had nothing to take home for the month of April and other months in 2016 because sum of N2.391 billion were deducted leaving a deficit of N361 million to be paid in the
subsequent month by the state, and this represents a whopping 117.8 percent of the total allocation due the state from the federation account.

Newsflashngr – The Consumer Protection Council has impounded sixty-nine and half (69 1/2) crates of expired Guinness Alcoholic drinks from a warehouse located at Awba-Ofemmili, Awka North LGA of Anambra State, allegedly belonging to a major distributor of Guinness Nigeria Plc products.

The south-east zonal coordinator of the CPC, Mrs Ngozika Obidike who made this known to newsmen in Awka, said the seizure was made following complaints by residents of the area, about possible food poisoning after consuming Guinness Africa Special brands allegedly purchased from the distributor.

According to her, “the complainant, Mr Ikechukwu Nnajidenma and his friends experienced severe purging and vomiting which made them to look at the bottles, to find out that the drinks had expired. Immediately, we visited the warehouse(of Eddinho Nig. Ltd) with policemen, and discovered that 69 1/2 cartons of the Guinness drinks have all expired. We(CPC) quickly took custody of them”.

Mrs Obidike who stated that the CPC has commenced investigations to ascertain the actual source of the expired products being sold to unsuspecting members of the public, also advised people to be mindful of the expiry dates on processed foods and drinks before consuming them.

Is strange that the All Progressives Congress (APC), which was at the fore-front of the agitation for true federalism is now against restructuring as the ruling party.

The governor, who hailed the position expressed last Thursday, by the Southwest APC, said the party, must now go beyond playing to the gallery and set machineries in motion to restructure the country.

In a statement issued in Ado-Ekiti on Sunday by his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, Governor Fayose said “under the present APC government of President Mohammadu Buhari, Nigeria is returning to full-blown unitary system of government.”

He said; “It is on record that the APC said at a debate on ‘Addressing the rising insecurity in Nigeria, what is the master plan?’ organized by the Centre for Democracy and Development (CDD) on December 18, 2014, that it would ensure true federalism and ensure adequate community policing through the establishment of state-controlled police so as to curb the protracted security challenges in the
country.

“Sad enough, now that it is the ruling party, the APC is no longer talking about true federalism, especially the state police that it canvassed while in the opposition.”

Newsflashngr- The National Directorate of Employment has predicted an imminent rise in cases of kidnapping, robbery, pr@stitution and youth restiveness in the country.

The Director-General of the agency, Mr Olakunle Obayan posited this on Monday at the opening ceremony of the “Start Your Own Business” training of the directorate held in Awka, the Anambra state capital.

The Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, has insisted that there is no going back on the planned demolition of the houses in Gbagyi Villa community, saying residents encroached on the land belonging to the Kaduna Polytechnic, a federal government institution.

The governor, during a visit to the community of over 3,500 houses and about 10,000 residents said they took over what was earlier earmarked as a Mining Engineering School and College of Environmental Studies of the polytechnic.

The party’s National Chairman, Dr Victor Ike Oye who spoke in Awka after a media briefing to herald the tripartite celebration of his 60th birthday, 30 years of marriage and the conferment of the chieftaincy title of ‘Ichie Ozo’ which held at the weekend in his native Amawbia community, Awka South Council Area of Anambra State said the party made a mistake by not fielding a candidate in the 2015 presidential election.

He described APGA as a party with clear cut ideology which has moved from its regional coloration to a global movement and urged Nigerians to openly identify with the party which he claimed is growing by leaps and bounds.

The party he said is now firmly rooted in every nook and cranny of the country, formidable enough with mass followership and will with the support of Nigerians be in a position to challenge for the number one office in 2019 and offer quality leadership at the centre.

NEWSFLASHNGR- GOOD governance is a catch phrase just as ‘vision’ is a buzz word among people who discuss government. Yet not many will be able to explain what they mean or how they are achieved in a democracy. Many assume that once yesterday is noted and today well understood, tomorrow could be foreseen. But it takes more than foresight to envision and lead followers towards the frontiers envisioned.

Even vision is not enough because that alone neither takes a land to the Promised Land nor works and tills the land for the dreamed harvest. So dreams do not suffice, similarly, skills in the command-and-control art of flock leadership would only do a bit.

Therefore, it takes all, and more. Hence, when Gov. Willie Obiano of Anambra State was honoured with a Good Governance Award by the Public Policy Research and Analysis Centre (PPRAC) at the Zik Prize 2015 held last Sunday night in the Civic Centre, Ozumba Mbadiwe Way, Victoria Island, Lagos, a vital question on the lips of those who know the weight of the expression was: How did it come to be so in Anambra State?

The same question was in the mind of a collective of senior journalists, mostly editors of national dailies, who over lunch, quizzed the governor at Four Point by Sheraton, Victoria Island on Monday. The gathering of over 30 press men and publishers wanted to know how Dr. Obiano arrived at the fold of the most illustrious in the current class of state governors. They sought his Moses rod and his Midas touch. They equally wanted to know how he managed not only to remain afloat and row amid the sharks, ice bergs and ship wrecks that have come to characterise the murky political waters in Anambra but also come out clean.

In a letter dated July 11, 2016, Prince Emeakayi who is the Chairman of PDP in Anambra State used the backdrop of Obiano’s recent honour as a winner of the coveted Zik Prize for Leadership in the Good Governance category, to commend the governor’s giant strides in the development of Anambra State.

“May the spirit of the great Zik of Africa, and the euphoria of the prestigious Zik Leadership award boost Your Excellency into more action in the areas you have done well and also to strengthen you to improve on the sections where you may not have excelled for the betterment of Ndi Anambra and the glory of God,” the party Chairman declared in his letter.

Emeakayi’s Letter which comes on the heels of Governor Obiano’s recent decoration as a winner of the Zik Prize and months before the commencement of campaign for Obiano’s second term, marks a milestone in party relations in Anambra State and signals the likely emergence of enlightened opposition in Nigerian politics as a whole.

Group Holds Peaceful Protest In Support Of PMB’s Administration By Umar Yusuf Ogbanwo

Available report to Newsflashngr.com indicate that South West Coordinating office of Stand Up for Nigeria (SUN), a socio-political group yesterday held a peaceful protest March that took place across major parts of Lagos today reaffirming the Unity of Nigeria and the confidence of the Nigerian masses in President Muhammadu Buhari.

The protesters which were in thier thousands took the whole of the day to distribute pamphlets across IKeja, Opebi, Allen Avenue, Lagos State House of Assembly and the Lagos House where Gov Ambode resides as his official residence to enlighten Nigerians on the need for the country’s unity.

Speakimg during the rally, South West Coordinator for SUN, Patriot Abiona oluwafemi Desmond insisted that the unity and continued existence of Nigeria is not negotiable contrary to those that have been dismissing our oneness with their bogus claims of a negotiable unity.

Desmond described the tumultuous and massive crowd that turned up for the rally as a proof that the entire country remain united as one and behind the President

The group also passed a vote of confidence on the President Buhari’s administration, saying his commitment to rid the country of corruption and ensure security of lives and properties are already yielding results.

Desmond said the calls for restructuring of Nigeria have reached a strident point where just any person capable of expression has joined the clamour for restructuring.

He said, “This is why we are today holding this march to not just add our voice to the discourse but to demonstrate our preparedness to back our position with action when the need arises.

For us, the demand for restructuring is a coded way of calling for the disintegration of Nigeria, which is why we rightly concluded that it is not the way to go. We have seen several groups and eminent persons hyping restructuring as if it is a cure all for all the things are wrong with the country whereas the main issues are not being addressed.”

“We know that Governor Obiano has been one of the most impactful governors in this dispensation.

He is a very serious man and since his assumption of leadership in Anambra State, we have seen changes in the direction of governance, we have seen seriousness and focus in the development of infrastructure, we have seen prudence in the management of scarce resources of Anambra State to the extent that in spite of the current economic challenges across the nation he remains one of the very few governors that have been able to carry on the project of modernization of Anambra State, industrialization, without hampering the welfare of his workforce.

Today Anambra remains very regular in the payment of salaries which cannot be taken for granted anymore in Nigeria if you consider the fact that 27 states have declared that they can no longer pay salaries. He has continued to pay salaries.

And we are also aware that since assuming office, he has not taken a single kobo from the bank. Not a dime, in loan! This is really exemplary.

It shows prudence, it shows discipline in the management of men and resources. But over and above that, Awka is wearing a new look. We are beginning to see flyovers that we used to see only in Lagos and Abuja and Akwa Ibom.

It is now creeping into Anambra State. And Awka which was sleepy and provincial is now assuming the position of the commercial headquarters of not only Anambra State but the South East. We are very happy with the performance of Governor Obiano.

But there is something that I want to mention. I am personally impressed by his programme on peace and security. We know that before this dispensation, Anambra used to be a place where people were afraid to visit.

But presently I am happy to say that suddenly, Anambra State has become the center of peace and tranquility. Today, Onitsha that used to be very tough for visitors now has a 24 hour life.

NEWSFLASHNGR can authoritatively report that the executive Governor of Anambra state chief sir Wille Obiano has said that his administration is renovating and refurbishing 57 general hospitals in the state with a view to giving them face lift for optimal performances.

The governor stated this during the foundation laying ceremony of ultra-modern hospital building at the Diocesan Hospital Nnewi, managed by the Anglican Diocese of Nnewi.

Obiano said that his government is also renovating 63 Primary Health Centres in the state, 21 in each senatorial district, adding that his administration has equally started the construction of houses for doctors as a way of alleviating accommodation problems among resident doctors in the state.

In his address, the hospital Administrator, Rev Maurice Agu, commended the governor for the visit, stating that Obiano was the first governor of the state to have visited the ancient health facility since it was founded 85 years ago.
