Northeastern: Madam you are contradicting yourself.
He should learn a lesson for selling at 20+ and you are waiting to buy at 13 to average down. What you are suffering from is loss aversion bias. You also demonstrated the anchoring bias by mentioning that you saw Zenith trading at 34.
The thing about this market is that you learn from experience and that is the unfortunate truth. Next time when you buy a stock and there is a general warning about a fall, you would not waste time but bail. You are better off selling at 26+ than waiting for 13+ for a revenge.
The market will still fall and that is the plain truth, so brace up for the uncertainties ahead. |

Mpeace: I remember someone being warned here that he would be in the wait for his so called bonanza price, and watch all I the good deals pass him bye. The market cannot be timed. Caution is key though. Transcorp, Oando, and many stocks did well today. Oga Mpeace, You know you start buying when the price is the highest because you have too much money and you can forget a losing stock till it is ready to move up. Let me wait because money to average down sef no dey right now. |

aremso: So what is the right time to buy? Dec. Or January? Sir Aremso, No matter how bad NSE turns out to be, people will still key into stocks with very good financials as at Q3 result release. Also by then, it will be clearer who the contestants will be, with likely election outcomes and some stocks would have hit their lowest possible low. This is my insinuation. I follow trends here and online daily as I am still learning. |

toayofo: I have been a silent observer and really appreciate the depth of insight i have gained from members here especially currentprice (cp) .
I need candid advice PLEASE.I bought Zenith at 23 naira some weeks ago based on what i percieved to be a bargain price....but I am now concerned by some comments here that it might drop to as low as 12!
My investment and exit plan was based on projected 50% capital appreciation within an 8-12 months period. Now I am thinking that I might have bought too early
I need a candid advice ,is it wise to sell the Zenith now and hope that it drops further (it is already below the 52wk low which I never thought will happen with the good result).PLEASE I NEED CANDID ADVICE as I invested a substantial amount ,if I sell tomorrow I will lose nearly 500k but I don't mind if I will be able to increase my holding since I will recover the loss over time.
As mentioned here by some, since cash is king, another alternative I was thinking about is to sell the Zenith and even if it doesn't drop any further ,target others that may drop even more....e.g. Fidelity,GTB,UBA etc where i might get better capital appreciation within 1 year
Seniors PLEASE ADVICE, Fxuser,CP........Thanks so much in advance!!! Toayofo, I am not CP or FX (these are my ogas) but if you are not a 'longtermer', or if you did not buy more than 1% of Zenith bank shares, or if you did not purchase in portions (meaning you don't have more money to average down), once your stop loss is hit, sell at least 50% off. Your stop loss might be 5% or 10%. We are still in August... the journey to another result release is still far, the environment (political and economic) is filled with uncertainty, Zenith mid year party is also over. There is every likelihood that prices will drop more before it rises again. This is my candid opinion. #Dont forget I am not CP or FX. |

musty00: Here's how some stocks are doing. From their Year High closing prices to Yesterday's closing prices.
Zenith and Guaranty are already close to their percentage loss from year high in 2014. Looks like this bear go harsh o.
My itchy fingers will soon be tested again Been watching from the sidelines. Once it is clear who the party presidential flag-bearers are, I will consider purchasing. The higher the mountain, the lower the valley. |

4601CE: Somebody please tell me what happens when you buy a stock and it is delisted on NSE. I’m just curious o Depends on the circumstances surrounding the delisting... I have seen stocks transferred to another company (I mean the purchasing company) if the delisting is as a result of buy out. I believe cash back may also be an option. In any case, delisting doesn't sound good in itself so you know what can happen to the value of the stock... If the company can no longer continue as a going concern (or what they call it), then it is a different ball game entirely, likely the 20k or 1k as it applies will be given back to the ordinary shareholders. I also believe you can choose to hold the shares like a 'shiarman'. more ideas will come from the more experienced forumites. |

Happy Sunday folks,
For all the trades I used stop loss, I broke even or took 5% shaving. For the trades I didn't use stop loss, I lost at least 20-28%. For some trades, I carry the stock wherever I go so I can sell to any willing buyer along the street since people have refused to bid for the stocks on NSE.

fxuser: umm dis is what i ''see'' ? - price broke below the tenken sen (blue line) red flag 1 - price den broke below the kijun sen (red line, very important line) red flag 2 - then d tenken sen (blue line) crossed below d Kijun sen (red line), dis is called a bearish cross & confirmation dat trend don bend red flag 3 - then price broke into d kumo cloud oh , red flag 4 - then price is now breaking below the kumo cloud and the chikou span (dat light green one on d outer ) is now below price ohh
after seeing all these , one shud be on d side be waiting until u see the reverse abi but know , one can get sucked into looking for bottoms or reversal plays in a bearish trend wh is fine but one shud be aware of the mood d mkt is in and possibility if failure is higher dan wen price was on d other side of d above
#JustRamblings no mind me i beg Oga Fx, Along with these your valuable posts, start early enough to educate us (willing readers) on signs of reversals. Apart from pin bars and Bullish cross (which is usually a delayed signal)... So that we can also be looking out and asking relevant questions. I observed a whole lot of confusion about budding trend reversals. It is my personal plea. Thanks for your efforts. |

hyness: See, you need to try and calm yourself down, stop looking at your portfolio/account at all at the moment. Any of your purchases that doesn't have too much loss as per percentage, sell now, leave the rest, and be on stand by for the right time to buy cheaper. The market will surely bounce back just a matter of time #patience is it. wanaj0: Interesting BUT
1) Stock market is by definition for LONG TERM investment. So how long has your investment lasted before the loss of livelihood? 2) Do you see investment in stocks as BUYING a company/business? If YES, is that COMPANY still in operation? Is that company still profitable? Is that company still paying dividends? Is that company still growing? If YES to all the above, you've got nothing to worry about. 3) LASTLY never us SHORT TERM funds for LONG TERM investment.
Please, market will always go up and down. Never believe anyone who tells you he/she is able to time the market.
Expectations MUST be managed. Thanks Wanaj0, You must be an extreme gentleman or a proponent of 'equal right and justice'. Really awesome the way you easily put the trash in the bin without getting stained or reacting to the odor. |

um Oga it is God in heaven that saved me. I have never seen a 28% loss before on my portfolio but with Caverton, I realized it.. Thank God I sold 75% off already before the crash. I need a small breather to sell what is left before the final collapse or I will just take it as a learning point. |
