SalamRushdie:
Not a fan of Yung six but I absolutely agree with him on Lai Mohammed recent gaffe

This is the kind of poor reasoning sequence that has defines the Buhari led administration that has made them kill everything they have touched ..,Now they have fixed their destructive eyes on our music industry which is currently our only creative /intellectual export, an industry that hard working Nigerian youths despite all the odds and zero support from govt either morally or "infrastructurally" , today these youths have taken that industry to international heights singlehandedly and now Lai Mohammed thinks it's time to tell them where to shoot videos grin cheesy..There are many ways Lai can support them instead of killing them with his short sighted approach, for one he could look into why people go out side to shoot musical videos some of which are

1: Lack of support infrastructure like electricity and security : To shoot a five mins video in Nigeria you will have to go about with giant generator mounted on the back of a truck you hired because of the lack of electricity and then you have pay policemen to secure the locations from hoodlums or area boys .

2. Lack of critical equipment: Many of the critical equipment needed to shoot a good movie are not available in country because the poor economy won't allow our film makers the financial opportunity or banking support to purchase these equipments ..Try going to a bank to look for a 60 million Narnia loan to purchase high tech film making equipment.

3.Some of our poorly thought out laws make shooting a video very cumbersome in Nigeria E.G Right now using a common flying camera or photo drone to get some aerial shots has become a difficult & cumbersome process where the film maker has to license the drone at 850k and still get security clearance from the office of the National Security Adviser in Abuja ..

4: Lack of critical manpower and cast ..:Due to the hardship many Nigerians are facing getting the proper cast for your musical video is not easy at it seems because many of the cast are expected to dress themselves up for a shoot which they can't afford and the music video director can't afford it either but in South AFRICA all the artiste needs to do is show up and and music video company would have organised everything from cast to set to costume ..

We could go on and on ...Mr Lai Mohammed should concentrate instead on improving the primary goals of governance which Infrastructure, Agriculture, Health , equity and security ...Has Mr Lai Mohammed even asked himself how he intends carry out his empty short sighted threat , is he going to stop a Wizkid who is more of an international artiste now from shooting his next video at some exotic location? How exactly is he going to do that ...This govt was a great mistake

You forgot to add insecurities oh.. You fit dey shoot video make one tout jump out from no where, obtain you..

I can imagine couples who have the likes of kemi as mother in law.. embarassed embarassed .... who fights with a mad woman? Kemi has a wealthy family with considerable connections, but she decided that they should all go to hell. It's always advisable to pick your battles. The almighty Federal republic of Nigeria didn't win the battle against Fela and kemi, but they were mad with different attributes. David ibiyeome hasn't won the battle against her yet either.. seyi is not a wise man on this issue... and unfortunately, an innocent child has been dragged in the mud. Evolution has it that we all sprang from apes, but kemi didn't spring far enough!!

You can call Kemi whatever you like but calling the legendary Fela Anikulapo Kuti a mad man is an abuse and insult to common sense.

I'd rather you call your useless military dictators and politicians mad men than call Fela, who fought for the good of the country, a mad man

Some intelligent NLander Yoruba guys and I were discussing igbo/Yoruba observed stuffs and we came to one conclusion that some igbos were applying 48 Laws Power rules to brainwash gullible Yorubas here. Last year, they started derogatorily calling and generalizing all Yorubas as Afonjas when we were known as Awoists since my earliest times on NairaLand. They know you soon take on the Character of the name you accept. Before this igbos started this nonsense, we on NL know purselves to be Awoists portraying the great Awolowo values. Just like the igbos planned and hoped, now some gullible easily brainwashed Yorubas go like "we Afonjas are the best" .... Afonja was the greatest Enemy of Yorubas while Awolowo brought innumerable great pace-setting Achievements to Yoruba Land and to Nigeria as a whole. Awolowo is Nigeria's Greatest Generallissimo whose millitary intelligence and strategy quickly ended long-fought Civil war. igbos fabricated and perpetuated a lie that Awo ate poison when it was medically confirmed that Awolowo died from cardiac issues, which must have resulted from restlessly patrotically carrying the burden of efforts to make Nigeria great. Even Great Britian said Awolowo is the best President Nigeria never had. Some brainwashed Yorubas may try to point out Awo's fault, forgetting that NO humanbeing can be perfect. Ojuckwu cowardly ran away, yet igbos celebrate him till date. If he was to be Yoruba, he would have been skinned alive when he returned. Infact, his family would have been made to forever bury their head in shame. If you have NEVER achieved 10% of what Awo achieved for Yorubas and you crucify Awo... Any igbo that calls we Yorubas afonja again instead of Awoists shall soon shattered by thunder!

See painment abeg! grin cheesy

Some Nigerian bloggers sha. See multiple typographical errors and terrible grammatical blunders every where. They can't even read through what they typed and make corrections before posting it on their blogs and sharing it on other websites.

If you know you don't have good communication and writing skills, then employ someone's services in order to be able to deliver reasonably; instead of dishing out incomprehensible jargons.

If you're a student in Nigeria and decide to learn educational stuff through Nigerian blogs, then I'm sorry for you; because you will end up provoking your lecturers (especially if you're studying English Language as a course).

Blogging shouldn't be for every Tom, Dick and Harry.

Career / Re: Should I Stop Work And Do A Masters Programme? by SycophanticGoat: 7:14am On Jul 16, 2017
rien05:
Hello House,

Kindly advise me on which way to follow. I currently earn 150k per month and I am thinking of enrolling for an MBA in Unilag. My headache is I will have to pick the full time option because it is cheaper and has better lecture hours, which means I have to stop work. Classes are from 9am-2pm weekly. The fee is about 200k.
I am skeptical about the part time option because its classes are during the evenings from 4pm to 8pm. I live and work on the island(Ajah) and close by 5pm. My boss won't allow me close by 3pm. He might agree to close at 4pm but even if he agrees to 3pm, there's no way I will get to Unilag before 5:30pm(on a no traffic day) by public transport. And lets say I finish lectures by 8pm, with the traffic and all I might be getting home by 11pm or so(dangerous for a girl). And it will so tell on me because the stress will be too much.(I am already a Lekpa I don't want to disappear). The koko again is that the fees for part time is about 500k.(I just started earning 150k ooh shocked and also ponzi finish my money at the beginning of the year. GREED. don't blame me ohh, many people fell victim with me).
The last option is the Executive MBA. Classes are on saturdays from 8pm to 4pm. The fee is about 2Million. I won't even go there.
If I say I should do another Masters course it will have to be a science course which are all full time.

My question is should I take the risk to forfeit my job and do my MBA? The forms are out. I want to prepare my mind before buying the form(N22,500). I really want an upgrade to my certificate. I also need money to keep me going because there is no one to lean on. Everybody is forming OYO. And I also don't want to regret embracing an opportunity now that I have money for fees. No one knows tomorrow. Please advise oooohhhhhh mbok

Firstly, I can see some people already giving you phone numbers. Please don't get scammed again.

Secondly,

What is the guarantee that the money you have will run a full time program for you?
What is also the guarantee that your part time program won't affect your job?
What is the guarantee that you will get another job if you loose this one?

My advises to you are:

1. Be sure your future is secured before making critical decisions now. If the job you have guarantees you high level of job security, then leaving it for MSc isn't worth it.

2. MSc can't be the only way to upgrade one's self. You can acquire skills on the job and through self study. You can also run professional certification programs and write professional exams.

3. Even when you want to establish a business, you ought to be sure that the business has already began to generate revenues and has began to win over loyal customers before you consider resigning from your job. You may not even need to resign if you have competent hands managing the business and it can stand without your physical presence.

4. There are many MSc. holders out there without job, what will make you stand our from them? That special thing that makes you stand out from them, will become your defining factor. So if you do your MSc and you're just a regular guy that quit his job to build educational qualifications, then be sure to join the queue comprising of millions of jobless BSc and MSc holders out there.

Your demonic president and his brainless cum clueless bunch of never do well ministers, think that a nation or sectors within a nation will progress when legislative forces are used on everything. The useless buharism that plunged Nigeria into recession and killed thousands of businesses, thereby resulting to loss of millions of jobs; is the same fascist buharism they want to introduce into the entertainment industry. Just watch as they will kill the industry within just 3 months.

You have a country with one of the poorest infrastructures, epileptic power supply, terrible roads that cars can't even ply freely without video cameras falling off the hands of the camera man due to pot holes. A country plagued with insecurities especially in some locations (Bornu, Kaduna, Benue, Enugu, Lagos, Ogun, Osun, Imo, Oyo, Rivers, Cross River, Anambra, etc,) but instead of the useless government to tackle these menaces and the brainless masses to hold them accountable, yet they leave such important issues and want to destroy the only industry that escaped recession.

By the way, to correct the notion that Hollywood don't make their movies in Africa, you mofos should even consider yourselves lucky to attract movies that require slums. Here are some Hollywood movies that have been shot in Lagos.

Wolverine - The Origin
Captain America - Civil War
Phat Girls
Tears of the Sun,
Sahara,
Etc.

You don't expect the entertainment industry to grow when you restrict it to a particular location thereby killing the dynamism required to make it grow. The best the useless and brainless lying fool called Lie Mohammed could have done is to encourage the musicians to do more of their music videos in Nigeria, just like most of our movies are done here; instead of coming out to talk trash about them stopping musicians from shooting videos abroad.

If there's any section of the country that needs to be restricted in order to grow our economy, it is the tourism, educational and health sector which actually take away trillions of our naira annually, due to politicians interests in patronizing foreign countries for these services. Your brainless and demonic president is the number one proponent of foreign medical leave and patronizer of foreign institutions. For crying out loud, your senile and brain dead idiot of a president has already spent over 70% of his 2017 on medical sabbatical in the UK with our presidential jet alone, generating over £300,000 (of our money) for the English government. I haven't even talked about accommodation, hospital and other bills which will amount to millions of pounds.

Ask your useless government and criminal political elites to first lead by example. Brainless leaders leading an even more brainless youths.

Life is real for most people.. moreover, in that same movie Lion-king, Mufasa ruled while there was plenty and cohesion within the weaker animals, when scar and the hyenas killed him, suffering and starvation was the watchword. Who then is the Lion-king and the hyenas?

Go to the streets and see people suffering, they cant feed, people committing unreported suicides, people trying so hard to make a living but no purchasing power and eventually resorting to crimes..

If your husband has to give way rather than putting 200m lives on the line, then so be it.. unknown individuals have sacrifised more without an atom of acknowledgement...

When we talk of Lionkings we should be talking of ADEDEVOH..the lady whom gave her life for 200m Nigerians..

Our inability to truly respect another is the reason threads (and issues) like this keep coming up, even when its common sense. These things should come naturally if people love and respect their spouses.

I had to give you guys the benefit of doubt and waited until today to see if action will be taken against the second guy but no way! I know you will hide this comment and ban me but I really don't care, as long as I post my mind.

This is a typical example of how you people allow tribalism reign on this website. When a comment is made against your people, in just a few seconds, that comment is hidden and the perpetrator banned. But once it's made against the Igbos (even when it clearly breaks one of your rules), you and your biased moderators turn the other way. It's attitudes like this that make some of us who weren't tribal biased to begin towing the line of tribalism on this website.

You may feign ignorance of the fact that your forum is a bed of tribalism and bigotry encouraged by you and your moderators but it's quite glaring. You people started all these nonsense by allowing people from other tribes denigrate all Igbos on crime threads which have Igbos as the culprits not knowing that it will come back to hunt you.

If you really want to enforce your rules, do it in an unbiased manner rather than enforcing your rules in a tribalistic and biased manner.
