Car Talk › Re: Reps Endorse Tariff Increase On Imported Cars by taharqa: 10:21am On Oct 18, 2013
great1: If Jonathan Dare Increase Tarriffs on imported cars, he should forget returning back to Aso Rock.. Seems like he doesn't care about the masses, how can he on one hand increase the age of cars imported into the country and on the other hand increase import duties...Until homemade cars are made affordable like in India, he shuld know that not everyone can afford these new cars...

Do we have Job security yethuh What laws are being put in place to strenghten workers righthuh

Its hard to trust those dishonorable reps, and the laws they making... If its not favourable to the common man, then I dnt wana know.. But one thing that Jonathan and his croonies must remember is that, investors coming into the country are only coming here to rip the resources we have left and channel it back to their countries...

I think its time to make laws that will strengthen our society and empower the masses...

Enough of the stealing!!!!!!
So India, and other nations like China and Brazil, waited until 'home made cars were available' b4 they started instituting Tariff structures in order to protect its local Auto industry, right??

obitwo: Managing Director of the company, Lewis Tung, in his address, requested that the company be given the opportunity to take over two of Nigeria’s moribund steel companies, Ajaokuta Steel Rolling Mills and Delta Steel.

Responding, Minister of Mines and Steel Development, Musa Mohammed Sada, said the Federal Government will be glad to grant the company the request if it is in its power, but noted that there are issues that will not make that possible for now.

“We have the encumbrance of having a legal issue attached to Ajaokuta Steel Rolling Mills and we are trying to sort it out. We will be glad to receive the proposal from them.”

Yea, you have a point: Upper Single Digit Inflation Rate (say 6%-9.9%) is usually d most ideal for Developing Economies, cos such Economies need to be sufficiently expansionary in terms of Growth in order to grow opportunities and create jobs; yet shldn't be in d double digit range (ie above 10%) in order to enhance Predictive planning by Investors and other Economic players in such Economies, as well as having a Moderating effect on Interest amd Exchange Rates..... Nigeria is right where it shld be in terms of Inflation Rates IF they can keep it stable at this Range. The CBN shld also reali be thinking of reducing d Interest Rate (tru its MRR) which is still unacceptably high...

HNosegbe: Too many economic illiterates on this thread.

Instead of people to ask questions when they don't understand economic terminologies, they'll continue to display arrogant ignorance, to borrow the words of a friend of mine.

Anyway for those who care to understand, what the report is saying is that the RATE at which prices of goods and services has declined i.e prices are now increasing at the rate of 8% per annum as opposed to over 10% which used to be the case.

The objective of CBN's monetary policy is to reduce the rate of inflation so that prices can be more predictable.

A reduction in the rate of inflation does not mean that the price of garri has reduced.
God bless d teachers who taught you boo..... And you even spend yr time explaining to IGNORAMUSES

@take dat, I am telling you. I can PERSONALLY confirm that they hv bn paid their allowance, at least in Uniben. It is not a secret here; and moreova, my Prof hv personali confirmd he got over a million as payments (although only half of d money was paid to Academic staff). Call any of yr former Lecturers to confirm, and report their response here if you wish.
