My Experience

I am pretty, well kept and groomed and at an age where although I may not be a spring chick, I am still young enough to attract attention from guys in their early 20s who have no qualms about toasting their elder sister's age mates. I have had my fair share lovers but I am currently sworn off men till such a time I recover from the trauma of my latest experience in the hands of the 'ejaculating gender.'

My now ex, let's call him Kingsley was supposed to be a godsent. He is fair, heavily bearded, handsome and a single father. He is also terrible in bed. TERRIBLE. He doesn't last more than 4 minutes, and once he reaches the four minutes mark, he spurts his disgusting seed into the condom and goes limp for the rest of the time with him. That did not stop me from giving two years of my life to him because I genuinely loved him and felt I could cope with the terrible sex; man shall not live by nacks alone. I settled in, began watching movies on his laptop. I don't know the devil that pushed me to leave the film I was watching to start snooping through his files. In my two years of dating I have never gone through his phone or PC because if you cherish your peace of mind, never snoop through your partner's devices otherwise you will see things. What you are looking for, you will find it.

He has this folder in his laptop called 'Don Quixote.exe' which I see all the time. I asked him what it was some time back and he casually said they are program files and if I mess with them, I will disorganize his laptop. The same devil I had earlier mentioned pushed me to open Don Quixote, and behold, what did I see?

I know this dude is his lover because I know him from the office and I have always been suspicious of his sexuality. That is the colleague Kingley brought home by 10 in the night.

Anyway, Kingley walked into the bedroom, saw me and the guilt written all over his face made me ask him who was in the parlour with him after hearing another male voice. When he couldn't give a coherent answer, I went to the parlour and saw Uncle Purple Skinny jeans. Now added to the gay porn I discovered in his laptop, you will not blame me for having a meltdown. I yelled, screamed, cussed, threw his ring into the toilet and flushed it. I ordered Uber to my parents house that night and spent 25th chopping breakfast with tears.

Two years, with a bi-sexual man. Or maybe he is gay himself. I don't know. He has been begging me not to expose him to his family, but it's too late. I have told my family and they intend to formally let his family know that their daughter cannot marry a 'confused' man, as my father says.

What do men want?! Two years of my life, plus all the wedding expenses, gone down the drain. I am so heart broken and humiliated.

I don't want to say men are scum because I have a wonderful father and loving brothers, so I will leave it. I'm done with men.

Well I don't blame hum but Nigeria conservative society. Alot of Nigerians both men and women in heterosexual relationship are actually homosexual. If society will just let them be then they wouldn't be pretending to be straight when they are not.

It's good u found out before the marriage, just take your L and move on, this doesn't make all men evil or make all men scum both of you were just victims of circumstances. It shouldn't also stop u from dating.

Building a cities is not how US and other developed countries became developed. A country is only as rich as it's citizens. Building a city were 95 percent of Nigeria citizens cannot afford an apartment is pure foolishness on the part of the government and investors.

The more rich people we have in Nigeria, the more developed Nigeria will be. It's not by using 100 yrs to build one city.

From the perspective of a hiring company, been able to achieve a degree signals the ability to listen to directions and commit to four years of work. It ia not just the degree, but the degree shows a lot about an individual. Moreover, people with college or post-baccalaureate degrees tend to earn much more than those without one.

This army of delusionaries must be stopped from corrupting young minds, they come on Nairaland in the middle of a mid-life crisis to tell a 19 year old to learn "programming" from YouTube instead of getting a a degree in Computer science or Engineering.

If you want to be a real programmer, get a degree in any of:

- Computer Science
- Computer Engineering
- Software Engineering
- Mathematics
- Information Technology
- Information Systems etc

It is highly recommended to get a relevant IT degree and consolidate your knowledge by learning more on YouTube and other MOOCs than to have an irrelevant degree and do the same.

TLDR: Whatever you do, get a degree while you can, it's better to have a degree and not need it than to need a degree and not have it, do not be deceived.

No one is telling a 19 yr old not to get a degree, the main issue here is for people with degree not related to the tech industry but want to branch into the tech industry. You think because one is learning to code from YouTube then that person must not have a degree.

Yes, years of experience is important, but a masters degree with 3 years experience, and a 4 years experience with no degree, trust me, the salary of the masters degree candidate will be higher. Do you realise that in the U.S,your degree involves practical experience and Intern which serves as experience?

You are not really getting the point, alot of Nigerians going into tech now already have a degree or at least an hnd but not related to CS.
Let's say someone has a degree in economics or chemical engineering, and such person decided to enter the tech industry let's say as a web or app developer , do u advice such person to go back to school to learn study Cs or learn from online resources available.

I personally know someone earning 6 figure working for a tech company in Lagos as a frontend developer, the dude studied electrical electronics engineering not CS. Even after studying CS in school, one still need these online resources to sharpen his/her skills because I don't think anyone will teach u react or nodejs in school.

Candidate A: 4 years experience, good character, knows the job, has a masters degree.

Candidate B: 4 years experience, good character, knows the job, has a bachelors degree.

Candidate C: 4 years experience, good character, knows the job, no degree.

All things being equal. Who do you think I will hire?? Candidate A of cause. Even if I am going to hire candidate C, I am going to pay way lower. By the way, if a client requires someone with a degree, certainly, I am not going to consider candidate C. That is the point I am making.

I asked how much it would cost to study software engineering because its a six months course..could you believe how much these guys mentioned for me? 850k...yes that right #850,000 and that's not all it still goes as far as 1.7million naira..
