Please let's not misinterprete the scriptures. Not putting on jewelry is always a sign of mourning and regret for sins. So when God commands them to remove it, it means God is surprised they are still interested in how they look before men when they are looking ugly before Him. In fact sometimes they are required to tear their garment and put on sackloth and ashes. They are all ways they used to show regret and humility. For instance in Africa people wear black to show they are mourning a beloved one. On the contrary consider these scriptures In Genesis 24:53 jewelry of silver and gold was given to Rebekah as betrothal presents by Abraham's servant. In Exodus 3:22, 11:2, and 12:35 God commanded Israel to borrow (actually take as payment for slavery) jewelry from the Egyptians, and in 3:22 they were told to put this jewelry on their children. Jewelry(Gold and silver) was a token of God's love for Israel in Ezekiel 16:11-13, which Israel wore. These included bracelets and necklaces, v. 11, and earrings, v. 12. Proverbs 25:12 speaks of how earrings of gold enhance the ears In the story of the prodigal son that Jesus told in Luke 15, the father of the sons(which is God in the true sense) commanded that they should put a gold ring on his son(vs22) Even Jesus is wearing Gold in heaven and the streets of heaven is made of gold |
There is no need for a response. Kukah said his mind based on his level of understanding and does not represent the opinion of most of us who believe nothing wrong with our pastors having the good things of life provided it was gotten legit. Oyedepo for instance has never taken any political stance, he is not seeking the favor of any political leader to be relevant. He is not seeking their favor for anytn. I respect Pst Tunde Bakare so much, infact I campaigned for and voted for him in the last election even though I know he sometimes speaks b4 editing. He is still anointed and he is a prophet but he should not join the camp of the accuser of the brethren. Kukahs own is understandable becos the leadership of CAN has left the erstwhile cold catholic approach to become a voice of its own |
vascey: Tell this to the jet-setting pastors.I can see many people don't really understand what contentment means. Riding a car or jet is not a sign of covetousness or not being contented. What God checks is purpose and intention. I endorse the quote below 100% Reference: Contentment simply means a state of being physically, mentally and spiritually stable in the place or position God wills for you at any point in time. It has nothing to do with dreams and aspirations, plans and progress. It just says you are not anxious about what you don't have nor call to question the place or position you have not acquired. |
Its just like asking why many christians visit a native doctor? People do anything to get a miracle. Haven't you seen cases where people agree to sleep with someone they believe to be a man of God to conceive. |
What keeps me going is God's promises and steadfast love. They never fail |
solidbroda: Bullsh*t!!! As if all d guys in here don't wanna be sugar daddies too. There is something in younger women that you will crave for when u grow older. Younger girls increase life span for a Man. Well, its very certain I'm gonna be one. Even, if my daughter has a ripe friend and up to age, I can also be her sugar daddy!! What's thr. Let's Enjoy our Heaven here. Its sure for no one that we will make heaven. Heaven is here. Let's f*ck the young while we old too and make heaven here on earth! No problem! Just Make sure you copied this save it for your daughter to read when she is 18. She needs to enjoy her own Heaven. And she needs to enjoy it to the fullest so she has to do it unprotected. @tpia I just went through your topics, hmmm! Now I understand. I saw topics like "most irritating Nladers" and u mentioned some names. I also noticed in "Hatred for Women" that you kept asking people not to derail your threads and that they should keep it civil; all rules you broke in this thread. I don't know u and not among those that come to Nland to insult people. You can't find me do that anywhere I don't even retaliate those who insult me; its a sign of immaturity and also against mu faith But note that It is hypocrisy >Not to practice the civility you preach. >To derail another thread and ask others not to yours >To ask questions about women abuse and call another person (who only asked "questions" not take a position) names These are various inconsistencies I find in your life and I advice you as a brother to work on them |
This thread was opened to help people like tpia. When some1 comes from a disfunctional family, he gets annoyed at eveerytn and rebels at the slightest provocation. All I asked here was a question believing African men would learn from the reasoning of matured minds. The way Tpia took it personal makes me suspect he has a bitter experience in that direction. Please go for counseling it will help |
gboss4sure: Those of una wey de abuse GEJ as una no get Job, what punishment will be given to you?Give them job. That's enough punishment |
President Barak Obama has only two daughters. The implication of this is that the name Obama is near extinction in the United states after the demise of the president. As an African man, would you tow Obama and Clinton's path? If you are his brother, would you advice him to adopt a son in other to preserve his name? What does he stand to loose? Lets compare US and Africa for a while, are there lessons our typical son-seeking African man should learn from the US or is it them that should learn from Africa |
Yoruba Movie 80% black magic English(Igbo) Movie 30% black magic so they called our movie station "Africa Magic"depicting what it portrays Just as we use to think Indian is the headquarters of occultism as portrayed by their movies, that's how most people in the world are beginning to percieve Nigeria. Just travel outside Nigeria to confirm. And now even our talent show is become Magic Show...Tufiakwa!!! |
jodam: Check the meaning of talent. That will surely help. And mind you, this 'NIGERIA GOT TALENT' is not about region!Dictionary.com definition of talent "a special natural ability or aptitude: a talent for drawing." Natural not supernatural. If you have another definition plz let me see it Talk about religion well I told u its my own opinion I'm entitled to it. I judge everything by its Kingdom value. That's me |
Please can somebody tell me the difference between "talent" and "Magic"? I watched "Nigerians Got Talent" show on telly today. When I heard the Title of the show I thought it was suppose to showcase the talent of Nigerians but I saw a guy playing with fire and chewing broken bottles what I used to see magicians do. I am surprised the guy got to the semi final so I began wondering whether magic was also a talent Anyway, I voted Toke a little albino gal for the simple reason that she brings God's presence with her talent and innocence. In a world where many loose their faith, abandon the church and play for the world all because of popularity and fame. That's my choice you are entitled to yours . |
DISCLAIMER Most of the people claiming to be Christians here or who claim to go to church are just mocking Christianity. Though that is not to say there are no abuses going on in some churches. But if your pastor does not follow this priority, its time to change your church 1. The Hope of Heaven- seeking FIRST the kingdom of God. And even here we have A)false assurance- those who live in sinful pleasures yet their pastor keep assuring them they will make it. B) No Assurance: they don't even talk about the hereafter. As bad as this is, it is better than the first, becos it is easier for them to repent when they hear the true Gospel C) Blessed Assurance: they are saved, and live it 2. The hope of making it here: Jesus preached it. All those who have left all to follow Him will gain everything back multiplied. So the basic step is leaving all- to be sold out to Him. We should be concerned about advancing God's kingdom not prosperity, deliverance etc. We should preach it though and teach the principles involved not just from the supernatural angle. |
However, the Deputy Force Public Relations Officer, Frank Mba, has repeatedly insisted that no suspect escaped from the police custody and that the police had no suspect bearing Sani Mohammed or Mohammed Sani in their custody based on available records with the police authoritiesFrank Mba please be FRANK, this is hilarious. |
Tribe is not a problem, religion without Christ and the Word of God is the wahala |
The first step in building a formidable online presence is to own a website. In this 21st Century, having a business without a website is like riding a bike with deflated tyres: you will not get very far. The following are some of the reasons you need a website for your business: 1. Websites Never Sleep. Many people surf the web in the evening when most businesses are closed -- which is fine because websites never sleep! A website will allow your business or organization to be open 24/7. Having a website is the equivalent of having an employee working around the clock -- even weekends and holidays! 2. Your Top Competitor Has A Website. If you are in direct competition with another business that has a website, they have a clear advantage -- especially if they are adequately marketing their website. 3. "Just Google It". More than ever before, people are turning away from traditional means of finding information and looking online. Your business should be at their fingertips. 4. Websites Improve Customer Confidence & Corporate Image. With a professional website, you will improve your overall impression to the public and, in turn, your customers will develop a greater sense of confidence in your organization. 5. Do You Know 15 Million People? That is the number of Nigerians that regularly use the Internet. Worldwide Internet usage is well over 1.5 billion. 6. Websites Help Establish More Customers. Having a website significantly improves your customer reach no matter what services or products you offer. 7. Websites Are Not Just Local - They Are Global. Most small businesses are only able to market to their town and surrounding communities. With a website, you can take your goods and services across Nigeria and around the world, if you so choose. |
The cashless society policy Nigeria is adopting will force a lot of people to do business online. This thread offers you proven strategies to attract customers online https://www.nairaland.com/1097700/15-proven-ways-build-strong |
Are you saying that those c*lling for her resignation are taking the first steps to reduce her security before they strike |
Nice move. Though if you ask for my opinion, I'd not be quick to call him a philantropist for donating big in a rare occurrence when he can actually do more in building schools, hospitals, and helping our power sector. I hope we know who is involved? He holds the title as the Richest man in Africa. Oga Dangote, you are doing well employing people to work and make a living; but you are rich enough to to empower invention and other projects that move us from 3rd World to first World. Talk of creating an enabling environment for sustainable development or smtn like empowering youths to fish not donating fish |

Your comments are welcome and will be channeled to the FG through an NGO |
AIT just reported that 12 federal universities in Nigeria will benefit from the Federal Governments Scheme on "Own a Computer" Initiative. The 12 Universities, which was not mentioned in the news will serve as pilot schools for the project. It is said that less than 5% Nigerians presently own a computer in a digitized world like ours. Do you think this is a good step in the right direction? What in your opinion should be the criteria for dishing out the computer to a student and do you think corruption will not hijack the initiative? |
Brethren, instead of coming to Nairaland to destroy the Body of Christ, use that time to pray for the Church in Nigeria. Successful invasion of the Body by the devil's advocates is a sign that something is wrong. It is either we have laid down our prayer guard or God is not happy with the Church. The Hand of the God I believe and serve is not too short that it cannot deliver, but sin may be the separating factor(Isiah 59:1). When Herod Boko Harammed the early Church, the disciples gathered and prayed and worms ate him alive. My fellow brethren in Nairaland, show how zealous you are for God by staying the hand of evil not by joining the camp of the accuser of the brethren, who has no job on this forum than to find the next pastor that is wrong and when you get 50 Likes you feel God is clapping for you. Sorry!!! |
schwerz: Ever since I became regular on Nairaland,I have noticed that some uninformed people like criticizing men of God especially those that have risen to success in all ramifications. Oyedepo epitomizes that figure and has been attacked severally by envious misguided folks including those who think of themselves as Christians. "In defense of Oyedepo" is a wrie up in defense of the kingdom I belong which has been misunderstood. Note that I'm not a member of Winners Chapel, it will take a carnal christian to be denominational minded |
hmm...See responses. I can't believe Nigerians still reason this way after Christianity has been here for years. Whats the difference between priests and kings in the New Testanent? I will open a new thread i will title "In defense of Oyedepo" to answer mst of the questions raised here. Watch Out |
Boko Haram hates those words "professionals" because professionalism is defined by Western education which they fight against. Very soon the church will win again, the scriptures cannot be broken Jesus builds His Church and the Gates of Hell(Boko Haram) can not prevail against it Matt 16:18 |
According to the report The number of unique visitors to all three email providers is down overall,One of the major reason for this is that more people are owning their own website and creating mails based on their domain names. It is more professional to have your company name as your email than using yahoo or gmail. For instance, instead of having Nairaland@yahoo.com as Nairalands email, they have and if you are looking for Seun's contact I guess its --. You can have the same thing for your business when you build your website with us: your email becomes yourName@yourCompanyName.com. Sounds great? Then own a website today and get started |
Please send this picture to Professor Chinua Achebe, he needs to understand the New Nigeria, I love and respect the prof a lot to leave him out of our new realities |
Going by your number 1 (cleaners) which I know many people will agree to, could you imagine that Jesus laid aside His majesty and took towel to clean the feet of His followers. Today many of our Churches practice the physical side(feet washing) but ignore the underlying principle which is servant leadership. How many of our leaders- political and religious will truely serve their followers? The sermon today is taken from Mat 11:29 where Jesus says "learn from me for I am meek and lowly in heart..." There are some leaders and founders that if you learn from them, you would become a terrorist, child molester, pirates etc @OP I refuse to agree wt some of your stuff, in some countries nurses are seriously appreciated |
