Please let's not misinterprete the scriptures. Not putting on jewelry is always a sign of mourning and regret for sins. So when God commands them to remove it, it means God is surprised they are still interested in how they look before men when they are looking ugly before Him. In fact sometimes they are required to tear their garment and put on sackloth and ashes. They are all ways they used to show regret and humility. For instance in Africa people wear black to show they are mourning a beloved one.
On the contrary consider these scriptures

In Genesis 24:53 jewelry of silver and gold was given to Rebekah as betrothal presents by Abraham's servant.

In Exodus 3:22, 11:2, and 12:35 God commanded Israel to borrow (actually take as payment for slavery) jewelry from the Egyptians, and in 3:22 they were told to put this jewelry on their children.

Jewelry(Gold and silver) was a token of God's love for Israel in Ezekiel 16:11-13, which Israel wore. These included bracelets and necklaces, v. 11, and earrings, v. 12.

Proverbs 25:12 speaks of how earrings of gold enhance the ears
In the story of the prodigal son that Jesus told in Luke 15, the father of the sons(which is God in the true sense) commanded that they should put a gold ring on his son(vs22)
Even Jesus is wearing Gold in heaven and the streets of heaven is made of gold

There is no need for a response. I can see many people don't really understand what contentment means. Riding a car or jet is not a sign of covetousness or not being contented. What God checks is purpose and intention. I endorse the quote below 100%

Reference: Contentment simply means a state of being physically, mentally and spiritually stable in the place or position God wills for you at any point in time. It has nothing to do with dreams and aspirations, plans and progress. It just says you are not anxious about what you don't have nor call to question the place or position you have not acquired.

People who are not contented cannot do the will of God nor follow him because He will always appear too slow, too daft or too old-fashioned for them. That is one extreme. The other is that the lazy and slothful hide under this scripture and cover their failures with it. They should know this: God desires the very best for His people in EVERY aspect of life and good living. He just wants it at His own time, at His own pace and for His own purpose. If that is good enough for you, then you wouldn't err.

Please can somebody tell me the difference between "talent" and "Magic"? I watched "Nigerians Got Talent" show on telly today. When I heard the Title of the show I thought it was suppose to showcase the talent of Nigerians but I saw a guy playing with fire and chewing broken bottles what I used to see magicians do. I am surprised the guy got to the semi final so I began wondering whether magic was also a talent

AIT just reported that 12 federal universities in Nigeria will benefit from the Federal Governments Scheme on "Own a Computer" Initiative. The 12 Universities, which was not mentioned in the news will serve as pilot schools for the project. It is said that less than 5% Nigerians presently own a computer in a digitized world like ours.

Ever since I became regular on Nairaland,I have noticed that some uninformed people like criticizing men of God especially those that have risen to success in all ramifications. Oyedepo epitomizes that figure and has been attacked severally by envious misguided folks including those who think of themselves as Christians. "In defense of Oyedepo" is a wrie up in defense of the kingdom I belong which has been misunderstood. Going by your number 1 (cleaners) which I know many people will agree to, could you imagine that Jesus laid aside His majesty and took towel to clean the feet of His followers. Today many of our Churches practice the physical side(feet washing) but ignore the underlying principle which is servant leadership. How many of our leaders- political and religious will truely serve their followers?

The sermon today is taken from Mat 11:29 where Jesus says "learn from me for I am meek and lowly in heart..." There are some leaders and founders that if you learn from them, you would become a terrorist, child molester, pirates etc
