The real heroes are those who are willing to stake their lives for a just course, even if that would not be a popular route for many. On that list is Mandela, Gandhi, Martin Luther King, Martin Luther- the reformer. And then the Big Name: JESUS. Yes I admit that all these names are not born again as most Nairalanders wld quickly point out. What many don't understand is that Jesus has two sides: His Person and the Principles He came to teach. Most believers only know His person which gave them salvation and access to heaven but those that practice the Principles he came to teach become outstanding whether they are Christians or not. Gandhi just followed one of the principles(sacrificial living) and see where he is today. Congrats Madiba but I sincerely wish you accept the person of jesus especially now that you are at the edge of eternity |

If it is how I became a Christian as a religion, I would say I was born into it. Almost everyone in Nigeria was born into one religion or another. This is the reason you need a second birth, what we call born again. I had to become born again to be qualified for the kingdom. Christianity as a religion is no better than Islam except that it has better values. If any of them die without a second birth he/she has the same destination. But being born again is a different experience all together. I have always tried to educate Nairalanders that Christianity in its true essence is not a religion. Religion is man looking for God while Christianity is God reaching out to man. If you say someone left Christianity to join Islam, the the person was not born again in the first place; he simply left one religion to join another. I am born again that's how I became a son of God not a religious christian. NB: not everyone that claims to be "born again" is because even these words are abused in recent times. The Bible is clear about this 1. Even if it is sacrificed to the Queen of the coast, if you have the type of understanding Paul had, that an idol is nothing, you can eat it. I don't know whether these are facts or myth but when I sought friends advice on whether to marry a fellow AS. One told me that the possibility of giving birth to a sickler is from my 3rd baby. That I can actually stop at two and be safe. I also heard in my teenage years that ones an SS gets to 30, the symptoms ceasing and he can't die from the condition. Is that true? |

Who told you the University was built with "poor" people's money? How many churches do people pay there tithe? Many( some even have paper where they monitor compliance). I am not in Winners but I know u can be there all your life without paying tithe and no one will force u or even know. Those paying there tithes are getting blessed and paying more while outsiders like u call them poor. If poor peoples money can build universiTIES then let's all go poor. Even your govt that forces you to pay tax can not use the tax of over 80 million Nigerians to give us a well equiped university 2. There are two ways to help the poor. Give little change to them or build more people with godly. Values and a capacity to create more wealth and help the poor. 3. Do you know how many students are there on scholarship. Therefore the rich is paying for the "poor" to get high quality education. Flavour makes money with his sweat right? So pastors are lazy bones who just sleep and the wealth grows. Just contrast the comments on this post of a musician who built a nite club with all the immorality that followed its opening and that of another man who built universities to empower our youths. Does it not surprise you that there are lots of praises coming in as against the man of God who is doing something GOOD. This clearly tells you that those critics are satan inspired as they would rather rejoice in evil than in the good. I would have said yes. Bt I remembered a religious sect that would hijack the opportunity to groom some people in the art of violence. Let Churches do their home work very well. When a church preaches and teaches the right thing families will be transformed and this kids will carry God to their schools and transform their classmates and our society will change. Why are so many Nairalanders offended with tithing? Those paying there tithes are building schools to help improve the standard of education, and buying jets to aid evangelical exploits while some jobless people spend all their time on Nairaland criticizing them. Those paying are not complaining and nobody forced you to pay. The next thing people will say now is that the schools are expensive. Go build your own, make it cheap and maintain the standards maintained by these 'expensive' Christian universities. Many of you prefer to hear that pastors are paupers but musicians are money bags. That's why pastors brought up by such congregational mindset keep looking for help from corrupt politicians and musicians and prophesying lies in the process in other to survive. Yes the world would be better without religion. Religion has caused more wars and head aches in the world than any other philosophy. In fact, Jesus came to abolish religion. The problem is that many people describe Christianity as a Religion. Christianity is God's search for man, while religion is the opposite – man's search for God. “The difference between Christianity and every other faith in the world is that all other religions are about man trying to reach up to God. Christianity is about God reaching down to man.” This is a very important distinction, and it is core to what I believe, so I would like to try to clarify what I mean. Here is the way I am defining religion: Religion is a system of beliefs or a code of moral conduct that judges (qualifies or disqualifies) a person based on their adherence and obedience to certain codes, rules, laws, traditions, or the performance of required acts. Religion (almost universally) is enforced by those in power in an attempt to maintain, increase, or abuse their power over others. Religion is the creation of man and is not the intention or design of God. Religion says slave, Jesus says son, Religion puts you in shackles but Jesus sets you free. Religion makes you blind, but Jesus lets you see. Religion say DO! DO!! DON'T!! DON'T!!(Dos & Donts) Christianity Says DONE! DONE!! Jesus did it all for you. All you need do is believe. You can't please God by your self righteousness(a set of dos n donts) So if you ask me whether the world would be better without a believe in God I would say NO. But better without religion I will say Yes! Why? Because without a believe in higher powers, conscience is destroyed and life generally becomes meaningless. Even Bertrand Russell a well known atheist seemed to understand this well as he fatalistically observed, “Unless you assume a God, the question of life's purpose is meaningless. @op if you really want to learn then the exposition above is enough for you except you are just looking for attention thru blind argument. To add to that Can you prove that radio waves are surrounding you always? The only way to prove it is to get a radio and the antenna picks it yet you don't see it with your natural eyes. The way to prove satan exists is to see the people he is using. 2. You see the effect of wind but you can't point to "wind" itself, that's how you see the works of the devil everyday. You don't need further proof 3. The human eye is very limited. When you stand on a railway track it appears as if it is joined at the end. But its not only your eyes decieving you. There are microorganisms everywhere but without a microscope you can't see them. Your natural unaided eyes are too limited. Satan is a spirit, for you to prove his existence, you need to be spiritual to discern him. I used natural occurences that you can relate with and not the Bible. My advice to you is to give your life to Christ so you can understand it if not no amount of explaination can clarify you because the devil will have your mind blinded from the truth. Passages quoted above are correct. To tie them together: 1. Satan was cast down to the earth as already quoted above. On earth, he is referred to as the god/prince of this world(2Cor 4:4; Jn 14:30) a position Adam use to occupy until he sinned. For those of us born again, satan has no power over us because Jesus defeated him. 2. On earth he is a vagabond: he said it himself in Job 1:7; 2:2 when God asked him where he was coming from. He said he has been going to and fro, up and down. Peter confirms that satan walks about(wakaabout)1 Peter 5:7. Finally, 3. He still has access to Heaven and Hell In hell where he is completely in charge, In Heaven where he goes to accuse the brethren(Rev 12:10). Fortunately we have Jesus who is our advocate (1John 2:1)that speaks on our behalf before God(Heb 11:25). because God is a God of Justice, satan appeals to this attribute of God but Jesus appeals to His mercy attribute since he has has satisfied the claim of justice when he died on the cross and took the punishment we should have taken anytime satan accusses us and we are guilty. @OP, I agree most believers on NLand don't follow arguments logically. There are reasons for this 1. All Christians are not Teachers: there are 5 fold ministries in the church as identified in the Bible. They include Pastor, Evangelist, Teacher, Apostle and Prophet(Eph 4:11). They all have there different areas of specialization. That's why organizations have spokesman. Unfotunately, nairaland is not an organization but a free for all forum. Take the medical profession for instance, there are questions/medical issues a paediatric cannot handle even though he is a medical doctor. That's why a General Hospital is often recommended where you meet all specialties. The Church (not Nairaland)is a spiritual general Hospital where you get treatment for all your spiritual issues 2. Most believers don't study their Bibles: Paul adviced his protégé Timothy to 'Study in other to show himself approved, a workman that should not be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of truth'2 Tim 2:15. Due to lack of study, most believers are ashamed of some questions they have no answers to and resort to insults. You can never hear me insult anyone, no not even on Nairaland. Believers should not do that, Jesus even says that if you call your brother a fool you are in the danger of hell fire(Matt 5:23). To insult is Islam not Christian 3.The Bible is for learning not argument: James advices that you receive the Word of God with meekness(James 1:21). If you are not humble enough to learn, you will always take the position of argument and never understand.You wonder why Jesus called Peter and other Apostles "babes"(Matt 11:25)? because unlike the scribes and pharisees, they were willing to learn The Bible also says that the word of God is Spirit abd you need to be spiritually solvent to understand all of it. 1 Cor 2:9-11). 4. The Bible is hid from unbelievers: the bible says in 2 Corinthians 4:3-4 "If the Gospel is hid(not understood) it is hidden from them that are perishing in whom the god of this world(satan)has blinded their eyes so they cannot see the light of the glory of the gospel..." I have more reasons to give but my advice to you is this 1. Don't come to Nairaland looking for answers about christianity 2. Give your life to Christ and receive His Word with meeknes of heart 3. before you study the word pray that God should open your eyes of understanding (Ps 119:18-19;Eph 1:17) I'm a teacher of God's word and would soon open a thread to answer most questions that Nairalands ask 1 Like |

This is exactly what our Heavenly Father did for us. He pardoned us of our sins and empowered us to live a holy life.
