I appreciate your very sincere concerns but i work in an environment where safety of the worker is topmost. I used to have a wrist reaction everyday cos im allergic to the powder in gloves back home but thats a thing of the past now.
If my safety and wellbeing can be that important, imagine what that of the patient will be like.
The only doctors who care are those who lost their parents. Or had reactions to powdered gloves. PJ should sort that.

and `older` and `oldest` now mean the same engineer?
I am not an engineer. It was just a valid example, Dr. I hope you haven't given anyone diabetic ketoacidosis with t hose huge soft gels you normally have filled with dextrose? Prostitution has dibs on age, so doctors should take a chill pill.

We should appreciate Nigerian Doctors, theyre the real endangered species. I tell you the gospel truth.
Because doctors are too important. But without engineers they would not even have syringes. Without microbiologists sterile instruments/solns. Without electricians lighting. Without public health officers no clean well ventilated rooms. Without cleaners dusty tables. Without carpenters no chairs or desk. But we can always replace a doctor with Google as earlier mentioned. It's finished.

really, I dont know who did this to Nigerians.

Youd rather go to war with you weakest soldiers,i guess, while leaving the best at home, listening to music. No need for further arguments Sir.
You did question how they got there. You never mentioned these weakest soldiers. Going by comments doctors are anaemic weak players in general. 34591/35000 anaemic and febrile. Going by personal experience 354,999 are necrotic players. 34999 pardon.

The doctors decide who works on a case yea? A doctor will employ more doctors when he cnt make ends meet. Building collapses and all Engineers are bad. I get your logic. I cant keep arguing with you. Know this however, some of us have experienced 2 separate climes and we know exactly what we are talking about.
where are the strong institutions, where are the guidelines? where are the regulatory bodies? where is the political will? Where are the rules that state how long you mut work before taking a compulsory break? Its unfortunate the average Nigerian knows more than he knows. We meet our leaders and treat them and know whats going on We know what they say to us. Each time i see any of my colleagues working in Naija, i give them kudo cos i know what it takes especially if you are the kind that tried to make changes and do the right thing.
In my days at Gh, if im on call on monday for example, i worked from 8am monday till 4pm on tuesday. Then I go to wrk 8 to 4 on wednesday and im on call on thursday which means 8am thursday to 4pm friday. Then do saturday call. I may be on call twice or 3 times a week.I attended an international interview and was asked how many hours i work per week. I told them 90 hours, they felt i lied and confirmed from my HOD who was also one of my referees The woman said my wrk is 48 hours a week and was thinking i woundnt cope cos their citizens struggle.
My brother dont even go there. If i open matter for you, you will realise you are not bin fair to those guys at all.
Bruv, we all have things we do to earn money and enjoy the finer things of life. We all have colleagues. We also work late. We all paid to get an education. We work overnight, too. While you see patients some of us see clients all day, draw all day, work on projects through the nights, weekends, public holidays, you name it . That's why we should all understand that everybody has their value.
We know doctors are human, but we should be treated as humans in turn. Just because I spent all night on a project when I have taken some bad cuts due to some new government policy doesn't mean that when I go for a meeting the next morning I will be taciturn and blow up on the client. It does not make sense. We should be professional about it. Doctors should be professional because they are dealing with other professionals too. Nobody is nothing. I have lived in different places and Nigeria is a horrible cesspit.

I said alot bro, equipment is part not the entire cause. Imagine being a teacher in a school without a board, a lab, a library and low pay. Will you function @ ur best? I bet most times you'll will be angry going to work.

Again equipment is just PART not the entire reason. I've come to realize that people act a certain way not for 1 particular reason but a combination of reasons however small or big.
Equipment cannot be the problem. Politicians aren't the problem. Nigerians are the problem. Nigerians, I have come to realize, are the most unmannered people continent wide. They have this hubris one cannot describe, and they aren't even worth it.

a doctor asked you to google your ailments and all the 35,000 nigerian doctors are bad? very funny person. So little trained that theyre doing so well outside. How many Engineers built the collapsed buildings that killed people everywhere. Dont allow hasty generalization make you look less than your abilities boss.
From experience. You don't think we go to one hospital only, do you? When we see the malpractice and lackadaisical attitude to our health we switch, expecting better, but meeting the same callous insensitivity. How many bridges collapse compared to how many patients die due to medical negligence or malpractice? How many contractors work on one bridge? I have seen a doctor administer 10 percent dextrose on a patient without opening the file to know that they are diabetic. Or giving wrong painkillers to a patient, hiding the file and acting professional about it. Would it have hurt to open the folder for patient history? How did politicians do this one? Is it sentimental. Have all doctors been hung, more only the Nigerian ones? Nigerian doctors simply want money. They entered medical college with the dream of making big bucks, not realizing it goes with ethics, commitment and a dose of a heart. If we can get diagnoses online with a nurses permission, who even needs doctors?

Have you asked how the person who asked patient to google ailment got selected for the job? have you asked whose daughter she is? have you asked which quota system has to be satisfied to get people to work? but you want the best work when youve not even selected the man man/woman. do you know how many doctors cant get internship slots cos they know no one while people theyre better than get cas they know someone? A friend attended an interview where he scored 84 percent. A doctor who score 46 percent got the job cos she came with a letter from a top politician. Do you even know how many people cant get admitted to study medicine just cos they are nobody`s kids?
have you wondered how many cant get training posts for same reason?
very funny people in Nigeria. we leave the most basic of facts but face sentiments.
The fact is not about who got there and how, but that those there act like doctors. Misdiagnosis, keeping vital info hidden from the meatiest, laziness to look at test results....the list is endless. I am sure many Nigerian people have been killed by secretive doctors. It is not sentiment. It is the fact. How is time a factor in curing a patient? Two minutes of explanation will prevent a lifetime of illness in most cases.

And y do the Nigerian Drs do best in ur sane climes? That's because both u d patients here and ur govt is d problem. In ur saner climes, wen ppl have a slight symptom dey see medical assistance immediately, here u wait till ur cancer is stage 3 till u go to d hospital expecting d Dr to perform a magic
they do their best because they want to keep their jobs out there. In Nigeria doctors can get away with crude wicked behavior because they feel like society owes them for the years in medical school. So what if you detect CIN3 cells? It is your job to help cure the patient! Are you a doctor who can help or a rat who will simply watch and move on?

Well, I understand how you feel. Most of us feel the same way. As painful and bad as this is, its a societal problem and a reflection of the decay in our society. It is not limited to members of the medical profession alone. Politicians who take oaths of office deliver so well dont they?
Nigerian Doctors are doing excellently well where things work. I am a living example. You have to realise you are crippled as a doctor working in Nigeria. Crippled by the non performing system, by the Nigerian behaviour of shortcuts to everything.
Then it means Nigerian doctors are no better than politicians. The society cannot be the reason why doctors are full of unbridled haughtiness and fatalistic arrogance and wrong diagnoses. The post where we are told to Google our ailments shows the ineptitude of Nigerian doctors. How many engineers do you see telling doctors who wish to build houses to Google their own site plan and manage the project singlehanded? Are doctors the only working people in Nigeria? I wonder what happened to good bedside manners and that genteel care for those whose lives are in doctors hands, so to speak. Nigerian doctors are little trained beyond the crude arrogance of fishmongers.

Or political negligence, or civil service negligence? Y do u guys always have a consensus in criticizing the Nigerian Drs but don't hold d politician who makes d laws dat affect the Dr's working condition accountable? Y do u think Nigerian Drs do well outside d country but don't do same here? U ppl should channel ur grievances to d right ppl and stop maligning d ppl trying to save ur lives
if doctors take the oath then let them abide by it. In my profession I have ethics. I work with them in order to enable me to deliver the best services to clients. Nigerian doctors take advantage of the fact that they are allowed to treat some patients like beasts. In a saner clime they would face a board for most attitudes they exhibit. You aren't the only ones who face "conditions" in Nigeria, so treat people with dignity! If doctors were so good nobody would malign them. No smoke without a fire. Other professionals do better than the ones who think they paid so much and spent so long in medical college. It's simply arrogance from doctors in Nigeria that everybody hates. Just look at the arrogant post above. That is your typical doctor from Nigeria. Imagine such win a patient.

the doctor should have told you the diagnosis and the cause. I wont want to make excuses for him but be informed that the doctor patient ratio in nigeria about 1: 10000 as against 1:400 abroad and WHO standard . That simple means doctors here are skewed to give you this kind of services until nigeria changes. Secondly you are wrong on that specialists should not attend to cases outside their specialty, Every good doctor knows when to refer . Well like amarabae said you know the diagnosis why not google it. Must you be spoonfed. The energy it took you to write this up is enough to learn of the condition and note that is what is done abroad. All patients know their condition. They even know the treatment. Please grow up. You want to be treated like patients are treated abroad ( one doctor to 400 patients yet patients read about their condition before coming) but you don't want to learn basic things about your condition like patients do abroad( despite one doctor to 10000 patients and none payment of salary). And note you can't generalise doctors are the best people I have meant in life . God bless!!!!
why should a patient pay consultation fees to see a doctor, when they could just Google it, right? Doctors like whining about their pay, why didn't they read botany or accounting instead? A patient must pay before treatment so explain to them why doctors are never paid. If you are not paid as a doctor it is not your patients fault. They have paid to see you so treat them with respect and tell them what is wrong. The two minutes a doctor uses to explain will make the patient make better health choices and reduce this alleged workload. Doctors appear to be the cause of their problems, so why do they take it out on innocent people? When you want to build a house, the people doing it will explain it to you on their time. But suddenly to explain to a patient has made doctors too aware of their time. Bloody arrogance.

I totally agree with your conclusions. I think the problem begins with how doctors are trained. Most times we focus on the academic side more than the social part of the job hence the poor social skills.

I also feel the lack of a really strong and effective regulatory board for medical practitioners plays a major role. A few days ago there was a post here where some doctors took pictures while operating on a patient. If that were to happen in US or UK, those doctors won't still be practicing medicine. There's simply a level of impunity in the medical profession that shouldn't just be so. Ethics is now foreign in Nigeria health sector where it should be the driving force.

Imagine telling a patient the root cause of their sickness is a big problem. How is with holding that information in anyway helping them? Well I don't blame them 100% sha, they are working under very poor conditions. From finance to equipments and the likes. I feel a lot need to be invested in the health sector for there to be a rapid change.

Healthcare, security and education are the most important sector in any sane country. And should not be joked with but in Nigeria the opposite is the case.
So, you are saying they need equipment in order to open their mouths and tell the patient what is wrong? Tell us more. This is eye opening.

Sorry about your experience. While i sympathize with you, i do not agree with some of your assertions. Its a multisystemic problem. you cant expect health to work while others sectors dont work. We face same problems, buy from same market, lack motivation etc please think of these:
1.service delivery in almost all government institutions and across all professions is abysmally poor .However, the moment health is involved Nigerians want supermen and superwomen as doctors when theyre not super in their own offices/workplace. One of my patients who used to complain about the hospital i was working once told me to come to her office for an assistance she wanted to render. I got there by after 9 and she wasnt there. I told myself this is the same person that will come at past 8 and will be seen late that will be shouting o. she strolled in at after 10 then waited for cleaners to clean her office. She could attend to me till around 11.
2. did you take a look at the people behind you waiting? I remember during my stay at government hospital, patients will be shouting `what is he doing with that man for over 20 minutes self`. when its their turn, they do far worse telling you irrelevant things while they leave out the important information. They tell you theyre strong. They tell you how the devil failed and that the devil is a late comer in their lives. How they suspect village people have hand in their problems. In a busy clinic where you have over 100 patients to see, what do u do? I have not seen Nigerians complain about poor working conditions or small doctor to patient ratio, but miss a chance to castigate doctors who work their asses out? never! You have to pass across and you hear various insults hurled at you. you want to hasten up and satisfy them!
3. bad handwriting isnt limited to Nigerian doctors. its a worldwide issue. kindly take a look at these reports in the Uk and US https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1676338/
pinion.inquirer.net/79623/death-by-bad-handwriting
How is a doctor who took the Hippocratic Oath validating his/her shiitty treatment of patients on the failure of other sectors according to you? Are you referring to them bringing people who were never booked into their office, neglecting others who were on the queue before their guest, just because they drop something paltry in their hands as they are leaving? The rot is in the doctors already. Do not justify it. Nigerians doctors are daft, arrogant empty barrels. On closer inspection they don't know anything. Look at the one telling patients to Google their ailments. That is diseased reasoning.

So this your post is purely about food huh? So much for talking about going back to food without a single picture of food to back up your request. You could have posted a food picture. But you didn’t . Instead you choose to ignore the facts and throw blanket shade at people. Wow how appetizing. tell me if this one is breakfast or lunch.
I mentioned that some of us are here to motivate ourselves to cook in the post you quoted. There are different uses of the food thread and not all of them are about posting pictures of food. I can decide to drop in and like a really good post, then try it out myself or buy it.

What blanket shade? It's an observation. That was established in the first post on this.

What is two faced about the observations?

I don't care about who threw the first stones. This is like a kindergarten.

If he insulted you and you insulted him back and suddenly because you hear that he is suicidal and then begin to sound like you care, is it wrong to say that it was better if he was never abused in turn in the first place?

Did everybody have to insult him? Couldn't he have been ignored?

Instead, for so many pages people were insulting him and now so many more pages dedicated to pampering him from guilt.

Wasn't it all avoidable by ignoring him? This is how there was unnecessary hatred towards ewa26. Everybody insulting always. Sometimes you would wonder if this was about food or an abuse thread.

If you guys want to insult this one, do so, but don't begin to act like you care all over the place.

This is not the place to clear your consciences. Or validate your insults.

Did you read the whole epistle from the beginning? Did you see the deadly insults he also dished out to people here? What if those people also attempt to commit suicide over his brutal words? Or you think he is the only one going through a phase in his/her life?

What is wrong is wrong, no sugarcoating. Those people trying to be soft with him are doing so because they have a humane side. Nobody is happy to see a fellow human commit suicide.

There is no need to be raining abuses on anyone here over food matter. You can always waka pass if something doesn't suit you.
Let's stick to our food matter biko.
With their later responses of pity etc, why didn't they just ignore him? What was their point if they would regret it?

Bolded is the point of the earlier post.

It doesn't make sense. So many people who it didn't concern decided to join in and abuse him. Now they're all humble. This thread has more insults that the politics threads and we're not discussing ideologies here, just posting food.

This place is supposed to be about food and not people.

People fighting. People crying. People feeling inferior. People abusing people over food. People feeling superior. People posting pictures of people. People posting their meet up conversations. People. People. People.

Some of us come here to motivate ourselves to cook, not look at people or the inane details of their daily lives.

Can we just get back to food?
FoodRe: Cook In Your Kitchen, Take Pictures And Post It Here. SIMPLE! by Tellemall: 5:03pm On Jul 16, 2018
This food thread is so interesting. The food is inspiring.

But something observed. It has to be said.

After attacking and abusing him with the intent that he should die for his contrary views/offenses, after plainly telling him that he's useless (no names mentioned here) some people who did so are pretending to care.

Human beings are so two-faced.

Why not always extend the soft words in the first place instead of going aggro, when you know that in the end you'll have to act like you're sorry?
After the reggae play the blues.

People react over nothing in here. So much insulting over food.

This is how everybody hated ewa26 for nothing. Does anybody know where he is? Or did you kill him with your words before you could act like you care?

Why are you assuming I haven't traveled out? I'll wager I've visited more countries than you have or ever will so stop making assumptions about people on a faceless forum

This is what happens when you don't read from the beginning or you forgot where the conversation started.
Religion isn't responsible for it but the way we take it serious is either responsible or is an enforcing mechanism for it

Majority of the people in those "religious developed countries" you're talking about don't take religion as serious as Nigerians do. religion to them is more of a cultural and community thing rather than first thing/something they rely upon or consult for issues

Nigeria is filled with a population that all pray against poverty and scream "Its not my portion!!!" at the slightest sign of someone talking to them about it. Nigerians with all their prayers and rejecting poverty has now been declared the poverty capital of the world. Same way they keep going to church to pray for long life. their life expectancy is now a little over half of that of atheist Japan who don't pray such prayers

At the slightest issue the average Nigerian calls on god and/or blame mother in-laws, witches, wizards, enemies etc while those in developed countries seek practical solutions. someone is walking on the road, falls down and dies with no one in proximity of him and Nigerians would conclude its village people. same thing happens in developed countries and they would carry out good research, tell us what caused the death, research ways of preventing it or reducing it's frequency then becomes better for it

these Nigerians would go to church to sit and hear sermons about how this life doesn't really matter much as heaven is the goal so no matter how much they suffer they shouldn't worry cuz this life is "Vanity of vanities, all is vanity" which encourages laziness. Of course this same "vanity" preacher lives in mansion, wears the best cloths, eat the best foods and drives performance cars, is tended to by bodyguards while telling the congregation all they need to protect themselves is buy stickers with words like "No weapon fashioned against me shall prosper" or an apron with the next church's program printed on it

Anywhere religion is taken as seriously as Nigerians do there would definitely be poverty and underdevelopment there. that's a fact nobody can deny. whether its the cause or the symptom is where disagreement can be
@bold : Don't you think that goes for you?

Sound like a traveled person and not a close-minded atheist.

Until you do and stop harping about religion and development then you will be taken as a well-intentioned individual.

Your problem isn't religion, because the whole world is religious. Your problem is people. Accept that.

Whether religion is cultural or not isn't the issue. Some culture is tied to religion. But the evils of Africa and its supposed darkness do not come from religion. They come from the minds of the people.

Stop putting religion everywhere. Development comes from religious minds and religious countries. The difference is the people and their values.

What do Nigerians value? Money. They will get it at any cost. Society doesn't reprimand them enough for killing, stealing, maiming and destroying to get money. What does religion have to do with the failure of government and the rotted values of people?

Your atheism has given you a narrow world view. This is why no atheist is ever logical or objective. To you, this is all about your sentiment on religion. We are yet to see an atheist who doesn't blame the woes of their Life and the evil of the world on religion. You blame God for everything. Look at yourself first.

An atheist cannot get married, he blames religion, instead of seeking a fellow atheist to marry. He loses his job, due to whatever reasons, he chalks it to his anti theist feelings that his boss picked up on. Can you people just face the world and stop looking for religious diversions? Don't theists face these things or do you think you are the special ones, somehow more intelligent, simply because you cannot understand the concept of there being an other known as God to some? Nigerians have always had atheists in their midst, just like every other country, but why you cry more than the others nobody really can tell.

Your posts all over this "faceless forum" highlight your continuous unending hatred/bitterness with religion, Christianity in particular. You've never really logically looked at a problem without the coloring of hatred for God.

Japan is an atheist country because you want it to be. In your mind it is the product of atheism. Have you lived in Japan? Do you know that religion is very much alive there? Where did Aum Shinrikyo come from, Mars? The other religious variations?

When you make posts like that you've lost objectivity. It's now your anti religious sentiment. I did not read further than that Japan line. The rest is your usual, an agglomeration of shallow, poorly-traveled local sentiment. You traveled to Reddit and back. There's no need for future mentions. You remain bigoted and intoxicated on the imaginary (according to you).

I applaud you. However you need to desist responding to those guys.
Honestly, I stopped commenting on the religion threads because they don't make sense and they are not exposed. You will hear things like "Chinese are not religious that's why they are progressing". Have they ever lived in China to know that? You'll be surprised they're reading the atheistic works of an atheist who has never been on an airplane. To the average Nigerian atheist, the world out there functions because everybody who is not in Nigeria is an atheist. Absurd.

Most atheists are uncultured and close-minded. They say that theists aren't open-minded, but it is they who cannot reason above scientific formula. They're trying to apply science to religion. Measuring length with a thermometer. To them science is a religion, but science is attainable as a standard of education to theists alike. Science will uncover everything. A science that only exists in 3 dimensions and cannot quantify a soul.

I commented because the back and forth it was having with Ziggylady was beginning to reek of an atheist trying to play smart, which usually means not answering questions and being obtuse.

Don't worry, I'll not engage again.

Meaning that you, as an atheist, don't know any. Hence you're throwing back the question.

Religion isn't the problem of Africa. The problem of Africa is the corrupt greedy people in it.

God isn't your problem. People are.

Religion is everywhere. Stop crying about it. It's in the deepest darkest and coldest places humans inhabit. Your opinion on it doesn't matter because people will still revere a deity, whether you think it's detrimental to them or not.

The church was not instituted to take over government responsibilities. The government was not instituted for the church's activities. Learn the distinction.

You always sound as if you're contributing to the world. Well, if you are you wouldn't be so concerned with perceived lack of contribution by others. Do your do. Stop moaning. If you don't believe it you sure do waste a lot of time on it.

Development didn't come by shunning religion. The developed world isn't as atheistic as you would like to think. Travel out. Live. Learn.

There are lots of wealthy people that are so humble that you wont be able to tell.

They dont look like the moneyed type yet he can afford a tear rubber car for his daughter.
Doesn't that defy the word "ajebutter", not looking moneyed? I always thought that Nigerians mean a pampered person who, apparently, looks "petted" and "posh" and is born with the means to look that way.

This one appears rather old. With the definition of ajebutter she should be younger and in a more prestigious University. Besides Nigerians use imported damaged cars, put plastics on the seats and call them brand new.

What do you want us to think?

The word you used- "ajebutter" -is confusing in this context.
