You think so?

The word be careful is not a threat or warning, it's an advice. In this case, if you go about passing your own tested and trusted ideology as what every other dog owner must follow, you might be equally passing off an information that might be detrimental to other dogs.

You advised feeding of bones after cooking. All dog breeders and vet warn against such. It works for you because you haven't experienced the danger associated with such. That is why you are advising that others do the same. What will now happen when their dog choke on cooked bones and die? It works for you doesn't mean it is the generally accepted rule. That's why I said you need to be careful how you sell that idea because it could hurt an innocent dog somewhere out there.

No offence intended at all.

When did I mention cooking? Where did I advise on how to cook?

If the above is your reason for the whole sentence beginning with "be careful", I will refrain from threatening you or using hot words in return and leave you to your conscience. Because nowhere here did I tell you or anyone else how to cook bones.

Hello,

be careful
how you expect what works for you to work for others. Allowing dogs to pick things from the ground is dangerous because parvo is on the rise. Also, feeding dogs cooked bones is dangerous because a little splinter can damage the food passage.

What's your warning/threat for?

You are a Nigerian i believe so generalising i think isn't right except you also worship money. It should be some or some parts of the country Nigeria worships money more than their creator and will do anything to get it. I'm in no way saying money isn't good but earn it legitimately.

You know the bold to be true?

Yes, money should be earned legitimately. However, your countrymen have made it a do or die affair and do wicked things for money.

Yes, I stopped breeding since 2016 when i got to understand that breeding isn't just about mating two dogs and for the money. we(my aunt and i) bred various non pedigree boerboels and sold to so many people and my dog Murphy is one of them. i can share few pictures of the ones i still have here, if you'll like to see them. Do you?

I'll like to see. Everything dogs is welcome.

Breeding is delicate work. Much more than money and mating. Glad you've gotten to know that.

Hope people didn't come and beat you for the non-pedigree dogs? cheesy

I agree with all you've said but some boerboels tend to develope muscles genetically whether worked or not, thereby making the owners lucky to have a ripped dog with tones of muscles without putting much effort aside feeding. I personally experienced this when i was a backyard breeder, sold a pup to a client in lagos and after many months to everyone's suprise, muscles formed and made the pup look fierce and the owner was finding it hard to convince me he didn't work his dog to archive that. I had to believe him because he doesn't seem to have enough time and space engage the dog in any training session.

Have you got any pic of the dog? Will like to see for myself

Unfortunately I do not have ready pics on hand.

I used to work him. He learned to sit before he eats. By around 7 months he was pretty muscular and had developed an adult shape. Broad chest. Well defined muscles especially on his neck, chest and "biceps". The only giveaway was that he used to cry like a baby when I chained him. Initially I chained him to a table leg(trying to go easy on him and keep him close to the house) but had to shift him to the thatch because he broke the table leg(strength in mastiffs is amazing). But I did put effort into getting him into shape. Taking him to the kraal of a friend, play fighting and less food. I don't believe in feeding dogs like they are demigods. They are working animals. I simply give vaccines and let them be. I find it irritating that people follow dogs about, complaining that they eat things. They're dogs, what do you want them to do, walk on two legs and not eat dirty things? My dog was in love with the toilet bowl.

This guy you mentioned probably has enough leg room for his dog to run around and probably doesn't feed it so much. Did you observe the dog's environment? Does he release it to some place? Is he the only one who has contact with his dog?

Most people think owning dogs is just about them barking and eating and then displaying them to the public.

BTW, have you stopped breeding dogs?

And he was being celebrated, revered and hailed to the high heavens as a hardworking, smart and generous philanthropist, while the original legitimate hard workers will be looked down upon and probably bounced from that same event.

As we write here, so many like him are still being worshipped today in our neighborhoods and even places of worships.

This is the sad reality to how low we have descended as a nation and people.

Problem is Nigerians worship at the altar of money. Money is everything to them. They can remove heads, hands and betray their own families for money. It doesn't matter if it is legitimate money or not. They are ready to scam, kill, rob and destroy just to get this money and power. Poor societal values.

Shallow comments such as "money stops nonsense" "get money the girls will come" are all from people who do not have and cannot understand money.

Keeping a breed like the boerboel in shape isn't easy at all, I tried it with mine but got tired and just fed my dog though he never grew overweight.

But there are fit dogs in Nigeria. Search Iwinosa boerboels, that man is doing wonders with the breed omg

I'm glad you're honest about it.

I kept my boerboel in such good shape you could see his muscles through his coat and he was feeding reasonable well, not overfed. His broad chest did not carry fat and when he walked if you were a thief you would fear. The lines on his body made him look powerful. For that reason I gave him a spiked collar, because he looked that badass. wink

This is why some breeds aren't for first time owners.

If you see a boerboel in South Africa you will know that what it looks like in Nigeria is a sham. The dogs weren't designed for show off, they were bred to live on farms and fight lions that strayed from the veldt, asseblief tog. I feel sickened and upset to see fat lousy boerboels. This breed in particular should look smart and bold. Here it's a competition of "mine is bigger than yours, I feed him crushed noodles and so so kilos of organs". Then you'll see the body so upsetting.

And it is due to feeding. People giving dogs eggs, removing bones, imagine that. Have you seen the jowls on Mastiffs? I gave mine bones from two months and there were hardly any bones he didn't like to crush and gnaw on in adulthood. The breed are designed to chew not to lap noodles.

I don't know why Nigerians are obsessed with them and they can't even keep them in good shape. Dogs are pets quite alright, but the pampering is sickening.

you've never seen a fit dog in Nigeria?

Not really, no.

They're usually fat/lousy with poor coats though overfed. Their shapes never show. You'll see boerboels looking fat and lousy, no musculature. A dog that should look intimidating looking daft. Especially the boerboels.

I understand that it's a thing of prestige in Nigeria to own an imported breed, a competition to see how much the owners can spend on some unnecessary things and brag about that, but please you guys are abusing the dogs by making them fat and docile!

It may sound upsetting, but take him to see a psychiatrist.

It doesn't mean there's something wrong with him, but for evaluation so that you know what you're dealing with.

This is how a woman with a badly behaved son was told that he's "brilliant" that's why. In the end he had to see a doctor and his case was not brilliance. He's now on medication and able to control some of his "stubbornness", "forgetfulness" etc.

Don't worry, he will bark on his own. My dog (not a Caucasian) began barking early, a month after I got him, but previously the GSD I had never barked until they were well over a year old.

Recommendation, chain him. He will cry like a baby, but it is for his own good and yours. Deprive him of seeing people so that the only people he knows are you and your family. Play with him from time to time. Reward him. Do not let strangers play with him. Play attacks with him, he will learn commands easier this way.

"Dogs in the wild". "WILD dogs"

Is your dog wild or domesticated?

Nigerians over do it for dogs. If you ask the people who created the boerboels what they feed them, you will realize that all this is unnecessary. I never wasted time deboning and crushing noodles etc for mine and it still got big as it should. The breed looks substandard in Nigeria because they're just petted and fed to get "big".

You're overfeeding them and just making them fat. Never seen a fit dog in Nigeria. They're always just overfed as if that's what ensures a big and healthy dog.

Anyway, more pics. Let's do this reality online show thingie.

Two things this thread will be full of:

1. Convert the pay off a van driver/mortician/busser/whatever to the salary of a politician in Nigeria blah blah crew.

Please, tell us how they have the same expenses or is this just a shallow comparison of figures meant to intimidate your locals onto traveling to become morticians etc? Do you have the same expenses? No . So, what are you comparing? Why not just post your submission without sounding so bitter and ridiculous? Oh well, Nigerians and baseless pride are inseparable.

2. I will become a billionaire in Nigeria crew

If so, why is only Dangote your Nigerian billionaire? Do you think he did so with pointless hubris? Why didn't your ancestors become billionaires in their homelands?
Because it's not so easy as you think. Not everyone out there is a mortician. From their weak gloating points they want to make you insecure, but why must you lie to yourselves?

Unlisted: The reasonable ones who don't have to mention either of the two points above because they are not so pained that they are morticians and not billionaires after all. Even those without permits are here fuming and acting haughty. You can smell the bitterness of the two factions, arrogance leaking with each pointless post.

The funny twist is that even after tax they make in one month what many employees in naija will make in a year.

Just that it is not easy until you have a work permit.

But are the expenses the same? No, so why use that as a comparison?

Improvise ma'am, go and get pressure cooker and make your beans look like EWA AGOYIN at least. Go and learn the recipe of the EWA AGOYIN stew as well.

If it still doesn't work, your husband is gone then. grin

In all your calling her out to learn how to cook (don't really know how else she can do that with what she's further explained) you forgot that a married man should be able to tame his appetites and stay put.

In all his years, why did he never learn how to cook it well?

The habits of some men are deplorable.

Don't put sexting or phonecalls to another woman out of this peculiar situation. His errand to buy the thing is a cover. He's not the first and only man whose wife can't cook what he feels like eating at home.

Madam, you do not need to explain your financial status to anyone here. Leave that out. We are not interested.

From what you've described, that when you buy the beans in anticipation of his peculiar request he will prefer to eat it without the beans, he is likely trying to be difficult and punish you for something you are unaware of.

People telling you to go and learn from some gross beans seller are just saying it to make you feel inadequate because in Nigeria every marital problem is the wife's fault.

Your husband has a problem. He needs to get used to his own home and learn to be satisfied from it. For now he's telling you about the beans, later he will find a reason to get the beans from another woman and claim you cannot make it no matter how hard you try. His beans request is a tactic.

You should tell him that he needs to get used to your cooking as you have compromised on learning to cook the beans as well. If you have made an effort what more does he want? He should eat what you make unless he has an ulterior motive. If he doesn't like your beans, what stops him from buying you a cookbook?

His addiction to that kind of beans shows you might not know him that well. You thought he didn't eat food from roadside vendors, but apparently each time he eats rice he does so. Also, what if it's a hex?

Just tell him to get dressed the next time and don't bother cooking. The two of you can go to the place and eat there.

Also consider that he's sexting whenever he sends you out.

Soon after I got married,my mother divorced him.
I and my siblings got her a decent accomodation and set her up.
The last time I saw or spoke to him was my wedding day, over a year ago.
I doubt any of my 4 brothers have visited or said a word to him.

He probably has forgotten the many days and nights he stripped naked our mother, beat her up,called her news.
He has forgotten all the abuse ...
But we have not.
Its still very clear.
The resentment and bitterness I feel towards him is second to none.
The mere thoughts of him nauseates me

Men don't learn...They lose at the end.

It's unfortunate that the African Man doesn't understand how to lead. It is good that you have shared your experience to many of the inexperienced misogynists. New words like DNA test, child support etc are thrown about too freely. They think it is so easy.

They lose and they pretend not to know why. The biggest enemy any man will have is in a child who has witnessed him bear down on his wife in their presence.

You do not lead with violence or trying to buy your family. Those are the old mistakes that young men still want to make while screaming for wives who work, hating women because of feminism, calling women gold diggers while idolizing money themselves, too, etc.

Do not mind the men here who hate women. They are simply a product of their upbringing. Let them see how easy it is to buy a child with child support, as if such a child would even want to know them when they're grown. In the end they will lose and blame women for brainwashing children, blame the wife, blame the new step father, blame everyone but themselves.

He says the children would never hate the man for assaulting her in front of them while he advocates child support believing that money will buy the children up when they are grown. Has he tried it before or is it just empty raving?

Why is it, then, that when parents grow old the children take care of their mothers more? It's simple. They never forget.

Big, fat lie.

They would NEVER hate their father. In fact, the man would go on to have other children and build another family with another sensible woman.

The children would be competing for the love of their father while their mother is trekking inside sun to service her customers.

Are you just arguing or have you never met children who despise their fathers for such reasons?

Many men don't receive gifts from their grown children probably because they've forgotten how many times they descended on their wives in the presence of their children, but the children never forgot. You think child support will win over the child when they are grown? Because you spent money on them? You won't even have a relationship, you'll just be a money bag, like most men are because they look down on women. You need to learn more about parenting and not just thinking that it's a war on women. What makes you feel you deserve the children more than her?

On nairaland too many of us exhibit misogyny and not realism. You hate women, fine. You think nothing of them, fine. What makes you think women like us, either? Apart from semen donation, what do you think you add to them?

Sounds delicious. I'm imagining a type of tuna taste with a beefy outlook.

@mercury: this is probably a result of global oil spills that are covered up and toxic waste disposal into global waters. And one would think whales are pure, clean, deep water meat. Polluted water probably does more damage to aquatic life than a few humans feasting on a beached whale.
