Chief. Don't play yourself. Check out Presken Hotel in Oniru. It's on George Omonubi street. You will get a very decent room for between 6-8k. Oniru is less than 20mins from the Embassy. Greatajo: I'm confused house. I checked motun international hotel and google told me the distance to the embassy is 3.9km. Someone here said its far. Please kindly shed more light as I'll soon be going for my interview and dont have anyone in Lagos |

I think it's best you write the Embassy explaining your plight. They only can guide your appropraitely and you will have insurance of an official conversation to reference if you have any issues on the day of your interview. urchman101: Please I still need your responses to this. Thanks in advance. |

You can't win the Lottery if you don't buy a Ticket. Look for Schools that offer GA from the off. Some will require you to write standardized exams, consider your GPA, work experience, video interviews with Faculty etc. Looks for those schools and apply to them and fulfill their requirements. Finito. shawnmich: Good day master and guru in the house, please I have a question which seems to be unclear. How does one get a graduate assistantships, because most of the school I contacted so far told me that I will need to be admitted and enrolled before getting graduate assistantships, and not even instant but after first semester or a year, please is there a secret passage to get graduate assistantships or does it mean that some school can give when applying. Please I need your help, I want to apply for master in Epidemiology which will pass through SOPHAS.
I will be very glad to hear your opinion please. |

You cannot. CBN doesn't allow Banks process forex transactions with Nigerian cards above a certain monthly limit. I think it's curretly at $100. Your options are to transfer the money to someone in the US to pay for you, or you use a virtual dollar card. lanrywatt: Guys please I am having challenges paying my tuition fee deposit with my atm.. how best can this be done |

You just need to be very fast. It's not strange. The time out window is not 20mins as implied. It's less than 1 minute for each page. Be fast as you type. You can preview each page for mistakes before you submit. Also make sure you save every page before you go the next page so you can continue from where it timed you out. revenant: My network is strong, I find it very strange. |

Please change it. That's too far apart. Edit if you haven't submitted or fill a new DS-160 if you have submitted. You scheduled interview will not be affected in anyway. You only need to "update profile" on your CGI portal once you have the new confirmation number from the new DSS-160. olomne: Please I noticed a mistake in the date of attendance on my CAEC form.
University Date of attendance from: 11th January 2011....... instead of 11th January 2014.
Please should I change it or leave it?
Will changing it affect my interview scheduled date? I'm scheduled for an interview Later next month.
Please I'll need your input. Didn't realize until now!!! |

Thank you. |

You can apply outside of the 60 days window. Worst that will happen is that it will be denied and in which case you can still apply again when you are within the 60 days window. You will still be allowed to use emergency even if you were denied an initial emergency request. You might even be lucky to have it granted if you explain in detail your reason for applying outside of the 60 days window. Seriez: Hello scholars,
Thanks to everyone that has been contributing to this thread, I have been following up closely. I have a question please;
If I apply for an emergency interview more than 60 days before my school resumption date will it be granted? if no, will that affect my chances of applying again or I can still reapply for emergency interview when I am within the 60 days interval?
NB: I am applying for an F-1 visa and the date I currently booked is too late for my program. According to the traveldocs website I am supposed to wait until it's 60 days to resumption before applying for emergency interview (that would be June ending) but I am tired of waiting, i want to clear the interview stage so that I can face other aspects of my preparation.
Kindly advise. |

You are only entitled to one "cancel/reschedule" per 67.2k payment. The portal flips in minutes. You can see June 2 now, and see September in the next 5 minutes. Be dead certain you will see June before you cancel your Abuja appointment, else you would have shot yourself in the foot. Shasha1995: air pls can I cancel Abuja and reschedule for Lagos. Not an issue at all. lilfrancis100: Please I need your advice on this. I just checked my visa interview application portal only to see that only my surname and first name are showing. On my i20, I have my middle name included. On my passport, I have my middle name included. On my Ds160 I also have my middle name included. Do you think this will be an issue during the visa interview? I don't know if this is how everyone's profile is because I am believing that I filled my middle name while creating the profile (not so sure of this). I need suggestions on what to do since I have not scheduled an interview but I have already paid and entered an MRV receipt number. Thanks for your anticipated response |

Once you hit the limit, you will locked be locked out for 72 hours during which you will not be able to access your page. You will be auto unlocked at the expiration of 72 hours too. Check the page once every 3 hours. The alternative is that you also keep your eyes here on this thread. People usually share when close dates are available in either Lagos and Abuja. Marcusbuchi93: Hello,
I just noticed that there is a limit to your access to the interview appointment portal.
Does this mean that once you have reached your daily limit you won't be able to access the portal for that day or are there an alternative ways of doing that?
Kindly advice.
Thank you |

So basically, the concept behind a F1 visa and all other non-immigrant visas is that "every applicant is assumed to be an intending immigrant until the applicant is able to prove and convince the VO otherwise" The burden is on you the applicant to prove you are not intending to immigrate via F1, not on the VO. So your job during your interview is to prove you are there to study. So ideally, any details about you that can point in the direction of immigration or helping you settle as an immigrant and change status will naturally attract scrutiny from the VO. So, there is less scrutiny on you if you have no one in the US. However this doesn't mean those who have people there have not been given Visa. E.g @KemLaughs and so many others here. However, if you ask any of them, they will tell you a key question for them was the conversation around their family members there. opeyemioguns: What I take from this is that it is better not to have a relative there. Is that correct? Because I've been wondering which one is better between having a relative or not. Please put me through |

Ah. Don't say no oo. Infact, they will already know once you submit your form. (Except your Sister did not enter your details when she was travelling). They will still ask you during your interview just to see if you will lie that you don't have, then they will confront you with data about her travel and residence. That she stays in the same State of your School is tough oo. Infact, this might be the single topic that determines wether you get an approval or denial. Please prepare hard for this topic. You will need to admit your Sister stays in the same City as your school, while also stating things around your own independence of thoughts, plans, career etc. You have to dissociate your career and studies from your Sister as much as possible. You Uncles and Aunts shouldn't be problem if they did not enter your details at any point during their travel. All the best, Chief. SomtoObu: Hi everyone In a situation where my sister and her family stays in the same state as my school Is it wrong to click the option NO when asked if I have any relative in US Also here is the other problem I also have some uncles and aunties in US but I feel that indicating that may lead to something else or make them think I am not going for school purposes as I said I am Please what should I do? |

But he said "admitted", not "applied". Did all the 7 schools you applied to give you admission ? If you go to the Embassy and tell any VO that you applied to 7 schools and only one gave you admission, the chances of you leaving that cubucle with a Blue paper increases. PotentialNurse: Speak for yourself o, many of us applied to as much as 7 universities |

But this is still strange. Did the VO retain your bank statement? If they did, then you would have been placed on "administering processing" and not a straight approval, in which case your passport would still have been held, but not white paper signifying approval. If your Bank statement was not held, then you surely weren't denied because of a fake bank statement. Looks like there is more to your transcript you haven't shared. beans12: bank satement was fake |

What are you looking for an earlier date for when you can request an emergency that will override/cancel your August booking, and get you an interview date in this month of May ? If you start date is close, better request emergency and stop waiting for what you are not certain is coming. Divabiola: Has anyone been able to schedule a date earlier than August in Abuja. I was able to schedule for August 10th but looking to see if I will be able to get an earlier date before requesting for an emergency appointment. |

Here is my 2 Cents: Your course already looks like one that is in demand in today's Business Climate so that's a good start point. You can look for sub-fields under BI and mention that Nigerian Universities that offer that course don't have that concentration (if you are asked why not Nigeria?) It's important that you do not "under-sell" or tacitly rubbish your home Country while answering this question. So i would advise you take out words like "exposure", "developed country..." and the likes. It's comes off as being an intending immigrant (even if we all know that's the intention, more often time than not). You should instead focus on why the specific concentration you are looking to acquire knowledge in, the need for it in Nigeria and how you plan to return home home with the new knowledge and utulize them in specific Organizations and industry. All the best and God's Grace on Thursday. adurajoseph: Hello guys, I will be going for my visa interview on the 6th. The program I would be going for is a Masters in Management in information systems and specializing in Business intelligence systems. I am unsure of how to explain "why am I not doing it in Nigeria?". I did my research and I discovered that two major schools (Covenant university and Lagos Business school) offer that program already. I know for sure that the standard of education is light years apart, But I don't know how to articulate a convincing reason. How would you explain why you are not doing such a program in your home country? |

This is not advisable. Let the money remain in your sponsor's account and present his SoA when you are asked for it. You already have a GA so there wouldn't be too much scrutiny on your Finances. If you still want to move the money to your account however, be ready to have a back up answer to questions around your job and savings. It's your call. PotentialNurse: Good morning, guys. I have a deficit of about $10,000 after my GA. My sponsor wants to pay the whole deficit into my domiciliary account.
Will this be an issue at the embassy when I present my account statement?
