Incognito9: I converted all my savings into dollars when the exchange rate was at $1/1600, and staked it in Binance. But since the Naira started appreciating, I had to redeem the money and trade a coin with it.
TBH, I have doubled the money, so far I'm on the winning side. But if it go below $1000, I will repeat it again.
Nah physical dollar hoarders, I dey pity Normally dollar earners are still on the good side. But the money for dorime don reduce. You know that flex of receiving small $2k and in naira it's almost 4m when the rate was about 1900/$1. I really smile that period |

Itsrm: One day I wanted to buy apple, the woman told me it was 500 naira per one. The apple was smaller than what I usually buy at 400 naira in market square.
Had to ask why her apple is more expensive than market square when market square pays staff, probably has a loan they are servicing and sometimes run 24/7 on diesel. She didn't have any reasonable response apart from the normal cock and bull story of how she bought one at 499 naira and naira is her gain.
Another instance, my son wanted to celebrate his birthday so we had to prepare a party pack for his classmates. I went to the store someone directed me to. I'll point at one thing she will say it's 1500 per one. I'll point at another and she'll say its 2500 per one. Even the pack itself she said its 500 naira per one. There are 22 children in his class. If I put gifts of 5k in one party pack, I'll spend more than 100k. I left her shop and went to mile 3 market.
The pack she told me was 500 per one, I bought dozen for 1000. To think she will even buy cheaper than me because I was so shocked at the price that I didn't even bother to price it.
That experience really opened my eyes. When next I have things to buy in bulk, I head over to mile 3. They keep using exchange rate excuse to increase price of products ridiculously. |

LordAdam16: Annual inflation is at 30%. Also, there are folks who ordered goods at 1700 and are yet to clear the container. You'd not expect those folks to sell at 1300 rate. There are also businesses that had been making huge FX losses and are understandably not in a hurry to slash prices.
There has been a marginal drop in the prices of some goods. It'll take about a quarter for the impact to be felt across the board.
In any case, Cardoso has declared a nationwide 30% discount on everything. Knowing Nigeria's rabid appetite for all things foreign, dude is writing a check that the CBN can't cash. The reserves has resumed its inevitable fall. It's only been one week. https://www.cbn.gov.ng/IntOps/Reserve.asp
The buy signal is when Cardoso takes a victory lap. We'll still get to >2000. This is a detour. I really do hope we get to 800. The lower the better. It'll make the alpha sumptuous.
In the meantime, if you earn in dollars (like I do) and are about to brace an up to 40% (if not more) drop in earnings in naira terms, (Ouch!) you'll have to dig in, brace for impact, and defer in-country capital expenditures until prices reflect the FX drop or rates crash again; whichever comes first. Everyone else should enjoy the cheap $ while stock lasts.
-Lord Yeah I earn in dollars, and I want the rate to go back up as soon as possible because the current low rates have zero benefits to me. |

When the price of goods and services soared a while ago they said it is because of the high rate of dollar to naira. Now dollar to naira rate has crashed, but the prices of goods and services are going up instead of going down. Infact things are even getting more costy.
Honestly, I want the dollar to go up to as much as 2500 to naira if possible, that will favour some of us better. |

From my experience after using four different phones from different xiaomi brands, xiaomi devices have a short life span. On the good side, they're very customizable ( for people interested in that). After two years just dump the phone or dash it out because it'll frustrate you. |

Nigeria is a crazy country. You can literally get anyone arrested as long as you have enough resources. For example, if izzou and I have a beef, and I have more resources than him, all I have to do is bribe a DPO, and izzou can be framed for theft or any other crime he never committed, and he'll be locked up until whenever I want him freed.
The only place in Nigeria where you can have issues with someone who has way more resources than you without you getting fvcked up is social media. |
