Look at Pakistan, since the Taliban have taken over what major improvement does the country have
No one will want to invest in the country
The poverty rate is higher
All they hope on is insha'Allah and Allah Akbar
Taliban took over Afghanistan, not Pakistan.

Both are useless countries though.

It's your iPhone bro
I get same annoying ads on my iPhone too
I prefer using android or pc instead
I really hate using iPhone ehn. I only picked up mine yesterday because my android developed fault. The person I sent to fix it is bringing it now, I’ll drop the iPhone again. The iPhone ecosystem is just too strict/closed. You can’t turn off stuffs you don’t want to see, especially ads. Very annoying.

20k can't give you five different pot of soups. Bruv this is Tinubu's 2024 not 2019. That amount can't get you more than two pots of soup, unless you're talking about some low quality soups without adequate fillings.

This is a very reasonable explanation . This is the only reason why the Oba cannot be derthroned because if he’s dethroned , the governor will have to install the man of the king dethroned in his father’s place .
Those laws will be simply be changed to allow outsiders become the king. Y'all forget this is Nigeria, and anything is possible in Nigeria. The oba has yet to be dethroned in recent history because they comport themselves, the day one radical fellow becomes governor, he'll depose the oba, and nothing will happen.

Ribadu is crazy though, what's his business with Kano kingship matter. Only the governor can decide who becomes king, there's nothing the NSA or anybody else can do. Even Gej couldn't do anything when Sanusi was enthroned against his wishes in 2014.

Just look at the mess Africa is today and in there lies your answer. Just take a look at the needless bloodshed we Africans have been subjecting our fellow Africans to and there u have ur answer.

Most of the African leaders u see indicted by ICC are literally people who killed their own fellow countrymen, imprisoned them or subjected them to inhuman conditions. Funny enough, it is we Africans that always petition ICC to try our leaders for war crimes and other alleged crimes. 2020 was just 4 years ago when over 100,000 Nigerians signed petition asking ICC to arrest and prosecute Buhari for ENDSARS massacre. How many western countries do you know that will ask soldiers to fire automatic weapons at unarmed protesters'?

I agree with u that the west don't put the same energy into indicting their own like they do Africans, but who do blame for that? Shebi if Africans too were self-reliant and don't look at the west for crumbs with hat in their hands; they can tell the west to 4ck off with their ICC and all.
A begger has no choice.

U are conflating issues on this one.

On the Supreme Court ruling on female child inheritance , once the Supreme Court has made such pronouncement, it is already the law. If today in the south east a female is denied her inheritance by her people, she can take the matter to court and the court will award the inheritance to her . If any of the family members thereafter goes against such judgement , then the court will hold them in contempt. They can be jailed for that .

To the child marriage issue , if a case on it gets instituted and it gets to Supreme Court level…. If the Supreme Court rules against child marriage, then it will form a precedent and going forward such judgement will be a reference point to fight future cases.

If I still remember my intro to General principles of law correctly , I think when it comes to customary laws/cultural issues there’s usually what they call repugnancy test . i . e the court will have to test if a customary or cultural practice is not repugnant to natural justice, equity and that such practice is not perceived to be inhuman and obnoxious .

Child marriage is obviously obnoxious and inhuman when u consider it is one of the causes of serious medical conditions like VVF.
Is child marriage not already outlawed by our constitution? Or does Supreme Court have to rule on it before it becomes law?
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by TemporaryHansel(m): 6:49pm On May 16, 2024
raumdeuter:
You might say the Law wins but the people who hold the culture dear will find a way around it. For example in the Nigeria there is freedom of movement, but when there is Oro festival and the people of Ikorodu refused to come out, or your business in Ikorodu, the employees refuse to come outside will the law go into their house and drag them outside?

Or say some places where they don't marry Osu, even if you outlaw it and assign Nigerian army to enforce, will you go and carry an Osu woman by force into the house of one that is not and use koboko to make sure they are married??

US where Polygamy is illegal, yet some people practice it, they will simply say the first wife is the legal wife and the one married in court, the other wives will just be "sisters" though sleeping together and bearing children. So how will the police prosecute them? or they will sit in the living room and watch which bedroom sister enters to collect gbola every night? Even if they catch them on top one another, they will claim they were cheating and the first wife has a forgiving spirit

Law is the easiest thing to change, changing the mind of he people regarding those cultural issues is the hardest
I read a novel written by an igbo in the early 50s some days ago when I was bored. One of the main themes of that novel was the relationship of the main character who wanted to marry a girl termed osu. Sad that more than 60 years later that inhuman practice is still active.

For the rest of your submission, that's why I said the Constitution will always win in a constitution vs culture situation, but which people are going to enforce it? The same damaged culture freaks? Lol.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by TemporaryHansel(m): 6:21pm On May 16, 2024
BlueRayDick:
It is not a cultural issue per se.

The child rights act which protects the right of the girl child and actually does not support child marriage has been domesticated by 34 out of 36 states in this country . (It’s only Kano and Zamfara that are yet to codify the law in their respective states)

Well I don’t know if Shari’a law supersedes the Child Rights act, but certainly this is not a cultural issue but one that bothers on the legality of the honorable’s actions.

For all it is worth , I will like the ministry to take the matter up in court and let them test the matter in a law court . Let’s see how it goes
Culture vs the Constitution, the law will always win. But, who's going to enforce it? Nigerians have proven over and over again to be ridiculously loyal to religious and cultural matters, most even respect those two things above the Nigerian constitution.

This is just like when the Supreme Court ruled that women must be allowed to inherit properties of their parents in the South East, but till today the women there are not allowed to inherit the properties of their fathers despite a ruling from the supreme Court ordering that. I'm sure you agree with me that there's nothing wrong with a female inheriting her father's properties, but you had to see the energy that south easterners used to insult the Supreme Court throughout that month for giving a fair and sane ruling.

@raumdeuter is right when he says the north isn't the only place with archaic and inhuman practices/ cultures. You just haven't visited enough places in the south.
If you visit some places in the south, you'd think you're in 1854.
The only difference is the northerners seem to make the news more often.

The kind of reception Prince harry and co are getting in Nigeria despite not being working royals just seem somehow to me, a treatment they can’t even get in their home country(UK) right now. If Prince williams or the king himself visit Nigeria, that means the whole country will just be shut down for him oh.

Just curious why Nigerians like worshipping foreigners.

Politicians have brought our once-revered traditional institutions into brazen disrepute.
Imagine hearing that the King of England is appearing before a judge over a case! Abomination! Aru!

Traditional cases involving high-profile kings shouldn't be handled in civil courts. The governor ought to get involved and prevail on the Oba to tender justice with mercy without things escalating to this point.
How can a sane person compare the king of England to oba of Benin? SMH.

Fubara is a very irresponsible, foolish, and lawless individual. The same people hailing him now would be calling for help from the US, UK, UN, and others to save democracy in Nigeria if a governor from the APC were treating the state legislature like this. The legislature is meant to be an independent arm of government, but it has become a mockery in Nigeria. Even the judiciary has been rendered useless. There's too much executive overreach in this country. Whoever drafted the 1999 constitution did not have the country's best interests at heart.
