Dear Nairalanders,

It is with a heavy heart full of worries and grief I write this. Posting this wasn’t my idea till an active nairalander who happened to be my friend suggested I explain my plight to well meaning Nigerians on how to go about seeking redress or what next to do with my shattered life because right now, I am so sad, bewildered, conked out and sorrowful. Today, I have contemplated suicide but I am not the kinda person that gives up so easily so I am willing to fight this through even with the last drop of my blood.

Till Friday 26th of June, 2015, I work for the above named bank in Nigeria. I joined them last year, went to training school and consequently became a full staff. I was confirmed specifically in the first quarter of this year as a full staff. Prior to confirmation, I have never fallen below 95percent. As a matter of fact because of my experience and wits, I was made the branch manager of the branch where I was posted immediately after training school. Since then, I have been undertaking series of professional examination related to my job ranging from ICAN to CIBN and I have always been scoring above 95percent as regards HR appraisal since I joined the bank.

However, I got to work today, logged into the system like I do every other day only to see the greatest shocker of my life. I was surprisingly denied access and consequently instructed to call the IT control department. My initial guess was that I have possibly been transferred to another branch. The IT department said I should contact the HR that I have been suspended.

I started sweating profusely inspite of the cabinet AC directly opposite my desk but I never had a clue till I got an email from HR almost immediately saying my appointment has been terminated.For crying out loud I had 95percent in HR appraisal just last month, I have just been confirmed in May, what have I done wrong? Where do I start from here? What do I do? Series of thoughts started flowing into my mind in thousands I started feeling feverish immediately. I am so blank right now. I need advice, I feel demoralized, dejected, rejected, and I feel so cheated.

I have very cool relationship with my bosses and i cant think of stepping on anyone's toe at the moment. This sudden occurence has defied all reasonable logic and i dont know what else to thing about......I will hang on as i await your replies. Thank you alot.

The said letter was received after the various APC Zonal Caucuses had taken their decisions to nominate candidates as Principal Officers of the Senate in line with parliamentary convention and the extant provisions of the Senate Standing Orders 2015 as amended (Chapter VI, Rules 28, 29 & 31 refers). This was follow up to the prior APC Senate caucus meeting held on 23rd June, 2015

Dear, I can agree in all sincerity that the job ahead for PMB is very onerous and equally daunting, and that he may need sometime before starts performing his magic, but it's totally out of place for you to claim he can't do any meaningful work because the NASS elections. For goodness sake, the principal officers of the chambers have been appointed and the chambers inaugurated.

That the favoured/anointed people of the APC didn't win the elections in the chambers isn't enough reason to suggest there's any crisis in the chambers.

It's time to start working for the people to see. Once the cabinet is formed and the list in public glare, the attending criticism just vapourise and waits till there some good reasons to criticise again. That's the truth.

There's no denying the fact PMB is a bit slow in constituting his cabinet, and that's getting some people bothered. A lot of people need to understand where the nation is headed, and only his cabinet can allay such fears, though I still believe the fears are unfounded.

Don't take this forum too seriously.

When we talk about sexual health, the focus is usually on women because of many peculiarities. However, sexual health goes beyond gender, as it affects men and women alike. Indeed, experts aver that reproductive health is an important component of men’s overall health and well-being.

One of the things that make men who they are is the male sex organ; its overall wellbeing cannot be overemphasised if men must function optimally biologically, mentally, physically and physiologically.

Physicians advise that routine visits with a health care provider can help prevent serious illness, as they can readily diagnose and treat the common conditions that affect men before they spiral out of control.

The Guttmacher Report on Public Policy laments that for much of their lives, men need a range of medical and, in particular, educational and counseling services to protect their own health and well-being, as well as to equip themselves to be good partners and fathers.

It notes that though policy makers are beginning to focus on men’s roles as fathers and husbands, little attention is being paid to their sexual and reproductive health needs. “Available data illustrate that those needs are substantial and long-term,” the report further says.

What are these health peculiarities that men should be aware of and guard against for overall well-being? Read on.

Peyronie’s disease

Also known as induratio penis plastica or chronic inflammation of the tunica albuginea (the fibrous covering of the testis), physicians say this disease is caused by scar tissue along the length of the male sex organ, causing it to bend. The condition can make sexual intercourse painful or difficult outright, they submit.

A General Practitioner, Dr. Grace Asiodu, says while the cause of this disease is basically unknown, researchers believe that it can develop after a trauma to the male sex organ – such as if something hits it hard, which may lead to internal bleeding inside the penis.

Again, she says – and this is instructive — certain medicines can have side effects that include Peyronie’s disease. “That is why we say it’s dangerous to indulge in self-medication or abuse of drugs that the doctor may have prescribed for you at one point or the other,” Asiodu warns.

She also discloses that the disease sometimes runs in families, but that if sexual intercourse is not affected, it may not elicit much anxiety.

She says the problem is mostly visible when the penis is erect, as it can cause the organ to bend into an arc shape, a situation that sometimes results in sharp pain.

In terms of overall healing of this disease, opinion differs. While some doctors say the situation can resolve itself in about five to 19 per cent of the cases, some patient’s case may require surgical correction.

However, according to Dr. Culley C. Carson III of the University of North Carolina, “A full recovery isn’t guaranteed.”

Beware of fish

Do you love to swim? Actually, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with swimming, except that you should know ahead of it the types of fish that can be your unwanted companion while the exercise lasts!

One fish to beware of as you swim is the candiru — also known as the vampire fish or toothpick fish. Experts describe it “as a species of parasitic freshwater catfish that is peculiar to Latin America.

The horror surrounding this small fish is that, unlike other fish that we know, it is parasitic and feeds on blood!

How this affects you as a man? Here: the fish is so tiny that it can literally swim into your penis opening as you swim. Once inside your manhood, it sees your urethra as a fish’s gill and then spreads a network of umbrella-like spines, which allow it to feed on your blood.

Experts say it could be removed through surgical intervention; but they also warn that the process could be terribly painful.

So, before you jump into that water, you may want to wear a cap on your manhood!

Too many women can kill

Many men count it a symbol of virility by getting around with many sexual partners. Physicians are saying it’s one sure way to a diseased life.

Asiodu says Chlamydial urethritis is caused by the bacteria Chlamydia trachomatis, and it can cause the inflammation or blockage of the urethra. When you consider the fact that the urethra serves as the passage for urine and semen during sexual intercourse, you’d work hard to protect your own!

The physician adds, “Chlamydia and gonorrhoea often occur together, and it affects people who are sexually active and those with multiple sexual partners.”

The symptoms include difficulty in urinating, painful urination, burning sensation during urination, discharge from the penis, redness, swelling, itching of the opening of the urethra at tip of the penis, swelling and tenderness of the testicles

“The symptoms can appear similar to those of infection with gonorrhea, but continue even after treatment for gonorrhea,” experts at medlineplus, an online community, say.

In fact, as bad as this infection is, a case study from India reports that it can leave the penis twisted and swollen, making sexual intercourse absolutely impossible!

So, men who think that conquering the world amounts to fooling around sexually should have a rethink.

Vigorous sex can break you

In these days of unguarded drug use, it’s not uncommon to see men who take aphrodisiacs at will, all in a bid to ‘surprise’ their partners. However, researchers at Ohio State University warn that vigorous sex can break the cylindrical tubes (the corpus cavernosa) that fill with blood when you have an erection!

The scientists warn, “These tubes can rupture and cause blood to fill your penis, leading to swelling and permanent deformity or loss of sexual function if not surgically treated immediately.”

President Goodluck Jonathan has condemned the mounting calls on public office holders to publicly declare their assets while in office, saying such clamour by Nigerians is not right, as officials should be allowed to determine whether making their assets public agree with their principles.
He made it clear his own principle disagree vehemently with allowing the people he governs know how much he is worth and what he really owns.
Fielding questions on Sunday during his third Presidential media chat at the Aso Villa Abuja, Mr. Jonathan said when the matter camme up during his time as Vice President to late President Musa Yar’adua he made it very clear that it was not a right decision to take.
Asked why he has refused to publicly declare his assets as an example for members of his cabinet, the President said, “The issue of public asset declaration is a matter of personal principle. That is the way I see it, and I don’t give a damn about it, even if you criticise me from heaven. When I was the Vice President , that matter came up, and I told the former President (late Musa Yar’adua) let’s not start something that would make us play into the hands of people and create an anomalous situation in the country.
“The law is clear. A public officer should declare his assets, and if there are issues, then the relevant agencies would have a basis to assess whether you have amassed wealth or not. When it is said that people should declare their assets in public, it is not only the President or the vice President, it includes everybody, incluidng Ministers.

Nobel Laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka, has denied describing Igbo as people who vote based on their stomach.

Some online media had quoted Soyinka as saying Igbo were politically naive while delivering a lecture titled ‘Predicting Nigeria, Electoral Ironies’ at Harvard University Hutchins Centre for African and African American Research in the United States.

He was quoted as saying “Igbo remained unrepentant and resolute towards their strategic objective of secession at worst; or a Nigerian president of Igbo extraction at best.”

However, Soyinka said in a statement on Thursday that it was unfortunate that people could tell lies against him.

The playwright described those peddling the rumour as morons who have ulterior motives.

He said his entire lecture delivered at Harvard University was recorded on video and anyone who was interested could access it on the Internet.

He said, “I have just read a statement attributed to me on a news outlet, evidently one of the Internet infestations. My lecture at the Hutchins Centre, Harvard University, was video recorded. Anyone who believes what I am alleged to have said must be a slowpoke – repeat, a slowpoke.

“It is demeaning, sickening and boring to have to deal with these cowards who cannot fight their own battles but must fasten their imbecilic pronouncements on others. Only the mentally retarded will credit this comment attributed to me regarding the Ndigbo voting pattern in the last elections.

Please I am so confused. I have been in a serious relationship with this my fiancee for the past four years, and although I know she forgets things, but I just see it as a normal thing.

That was until she came to spend a week with me. She forgot almost everything and if I ask her "can't u remember?" she will reply me with "you know I forget things easily".

 It is important to note that although PwC has reviewed documents submitted by the key
stakeholders involved, our work was conducted independently, and our findings are based on
the review of documentation, analytical reviews of data, and interviews conducted.
 Due to this approach, our findings and the way we presented them in this report may not
necessarily reflect the formats of the various submissions made by the different stakeholders.
 In certain instances where we were not provided with information or access to key
stakeholders (Section 6.3.2 ) we leveraged on external and available sources of information to
reach our conclusions. These external and available sources of information are clearly
highlighted in the relevant sections of this report.
 Any information and/or documentation which may come to our attention subsequent to the
date of this report may alter our findings.
 We have also listed some of the limitations to our scope in Section 3.2.
 The procedures performed and specific limitations to scope are also discussed under the
various work stream sections.
 Based on specific instructions from the Auditor General for the Federation, we returned to do
additional work, after NNPC had represented that our initial process did not provide an
opportunity for formal discussions of our findings with top management, in the form of an
exit interview.
 With the exception of the Deputy Group Managing Director/ Group Executive Director
Finance and Accounts of NNPC, the Auditor-General for the Federation, and the Honourable
Minister of Petroleum Resources, we have not discussed the findings of this report with any
stakeholder.
 Our work was split into two work streams as follows;
1. We estimated how much revenue is due to the FGN from crude oil liftings; and
2. We reconciled the revenues due to the FGN against the actual cash received by the
federation.
 Our findings and conclusions considered the impact of some matters which require legal
opinion to be sought by the FGN.

After the submission of our initial report to the Auditor-General of the Federation on 28 November
2014, the following was brought to our attention by NNPC regarding our findings on Revenue
Remittance:
 Unremitted DPR revenue: NNPC notified DPR of our finding (in Section 4.2.4.4) that the
payments for four DPR liftings did not reflect into the CBN/DPR JP Morgan account.We
then received confirmation from DPR evidencing that the payments were made by NNPC.We

traced the payments to CBN/DPR JP Morgan account bank statements and confirmed the
inflows were made in the months following the due dates.
 Unremitted Domestic crude revenue: Following our finding in Section 4.2.4.3 that domestic
crude revenues remitted to the Federation was short by $1.5billion, NNPC provided us post-
FAAC reports confirming that the outstanding amounts were remitted in months after they
were due. The table below summarizes the new position:

 We were not provided with and could not review all the working papers used in
generating the market prices and volumes used in the joint submissions of DPR,
PPPRA and NNPC to the Senate.
 We did not test the authenticity of the documents presented to us by PPPRA, NNPC as
well as all other subsidiaries of NNPC.
 Lloyds List Intelligence and Thompson Reuters Eikon databases could not provide
information on the ownership of the products being carried by vessels or the kind of
petroleum products (e.g. DPK or PMS) being carried.
 We could not verify all additional costs incurred by other marketers after buying DPK
from PPMC to explain the difference between the official retail price of DPK (N50) and
the actual retail price (N120 – N14042).

4.5.3. Limitations
We encountered some limitations in the course of executing some aspects of our scope of work. The
key limitations were:
 Unavailability of relevant NPDC personnel to provide information on the NPDC’s processes
particularly around its operations, business objectives and internal accounting/financial
reporting, etc.
 Change of management at NPDC during the course of the engagement which further
contributed to our inability to successfully obtain responses to our request for information.
 Non-response of NPDC to our request letter which meant that we weren’t provided with the
following requests:
o Detailed breakdown of the crude oil assets transferred to NPDC.
o Terms of divestment and contract documents involving the assets taken over.
o Strategic Alliance agreements between NPDC and counterparties.
o Monthly volume allocations to Strategic Alliance Partners per partner.
o Monthly balance of NPDC crude over-lifts by Strategic Alliance partners.
o List of receiving banks, account numbers and bank statements for NPDC crude proceeds.
