These men celebrated the birth of jesus and were described as "Wise" by the bible so how "wise" is this ya friend and her blind and ignorant kind?

Is ya friend wiser than these three wise men?

We all know and agree that there is very high probability that jesus was not born on 25th December but we have chosen to celebrate his birth on that date and anyone not comfortable with Christmas can take a dive into the atlantic for all I care.

He should move a motion on the floor of the Senate calling for the cancellation of Christmas holiday(if any) and urge the Senate to prevail on the President to discard holiday. Dear People of Kaduna State,

We have witnessed sad events in Zaria and a part of Kaduna metropolis over the last few days. As your Governor, it is my duty to address you on the incidents, and explain the events that preceded the tragedy of last weekend. We shall also outline how we intend to prevent a recurrence.

As you are aware, military operations have taken place in Zaria between Saturday, 12 December and Monday, 14 December 2015. There have been tragic consequences and needless loss of lives, and we extend our condolences to the families that have been affected. In this sombre moment, we have also directed that steps be taken to address the humanitarian fallouts of the operations. The State Government is carrying out after action review of the theatre of operations with a view to compensating those whose vehicles, real property and other assets were damaged as a result.

The Kaduna State Government has been informed that on Saturday, 12 December 2015, the convoy of the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Tukur Buratai, reported an ambush and attempted assassination at a roadblock mounted by members of Sheikh Ibrahim El-Zakzaky’s Islamic Movement of Nigeria. Clashes broke out as soldiers mounted operations to repel the attack, remove the obstruction to a major public highway, and to contain and arrest the perpetrators. When the security agencies sent reports of the clash to me a little after 3pm on that day, I initiated steps that I thought could calm the situation. I called Sheikh Ibrahim El-Zakzaky on the phone to get his side of the story, and thereafter visited Zaria for on-the-spot briefing and assessment and visited the Chief of Army Staff.

The army and the police have since addressed the press on the security operations and the aftermath. We have also seen video clips aired on national television and online to show the extent to which the Nigerian Army tried to reason with the persons that were intent on obstructing a public highway without any justification. The avoidable weekend tragedy in Zaria has a background based on information available to the Kaduna State Government.

What the Kaduna State Government has learnt
Based on reports from government organs and security agencies, we have learnt the following:
• There had been tension in parts of Zaria since Thursday, 10 December 2015, when members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria were alleged to have attacked Gabari, a community on the outskirts of Zaria, in continuation of a dispute over a mosque. Like the previous attack, this second assault on Gabari also took three lives. The alleged bone of contention was that the El-Zakzaky movement wanted to take over a mosque they did not build in Gabari. The mosque had been sealed by the authorities following the collapse of the arrangements that had enabled various sects to amicably share its usage.

In the last two weeks, the Islamic Movement of Nigeria has also illegally occupied federal roads. Over a period of four days, they took over one side of the federal expressway between Kaduna and Zaria, and the roads to Kano and Katsina. They entered schools along these routes, using them as rest and recreation points without notice or permission or any concern about the disruption of academic activities.
The Husainiyah building, the headquarters of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria, was put up without statutory title to the land, and in outright defiance of a stop-work notice issued by KASUPDA in 2010. When KASUPDA followed up with a demolition notice in the same year, the then authorities chose to look the other way, and allowed the sect to complete a building that had neither title nor planning approval, and which the appropriate agency had determined was in violation of planning and development regulations.
The successful completion of this illegal building on a major road subsequently led to a pattern of inconveniences being inflicted on members of the general public. There were various reports and complaints that the sect was harassing members of the public, and inflicting hardship on commuters. At their headquarters and in other areas where Zakzaky’s movement had structures, they had tried to forcibly acquire the property of their neighbours; this is apart from subjecting residents to an illegal curfew.
Government also received reports that the Islamic Movement of Nigeria acted like a parallel state, with total disdain for the formal structures of the Nigerian government and little regard for the rights of non-members. Whenever community, traditional or political leaders invite the sect to dispute resolution meetings, they often declined the invitations. In addition, members of the movement are alleged to openly carry and use offensive weapons.
Following the Zaria incident, Shiite members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria have tried to upset the peace in parts of Kaduna. The security forces have responded firmly to the situation in the Tudun Wada area of Kaduna Metropolis. Violent actions by sect members on Tuesday, 15 December 2016, included the use of Molotov cocktails and petrol bombs against the security forces.
Judicial Commission of Inquiry to be established
As the security operations in Zaria are wound-down, the Kaduna State Government is persuaded that it is vital, for reasons of accountability and transparency, that a factual and authoritative account of the events be painstakingly assembled. The Kaduna State Government has therefore decided that under the powers conferred on me by the Tribunals of Inquiry Act, a Judicial Commission of Inquiry will be established to examine the remote and immediate causes of the Zaria incident. This inquiry will be open and will enable all allegations and claims to be tested with judicial rigour. The government will act promptly on the conclusions of the inquiry, and forward recommendations requiring action by the Federal Government to Mr. President. Details of the composition and terms of reference of the judicial commission of inquiry would be made public within the next two weeks.
Commitment to security and constitutional rights
In the meantime, Government reiterates that it cannot permit an escalation of lawlessness. Therefore, civil security patrols, supported by the military when necessary, will continue to enable the state to maintain order, reassure residents and keep the peace. Our government continues to invest heavily in security as a foundation for the successful execution of our economic and social agenda to develop Kaduna State.

Fellow citizens, Kaduna State has witnessed too many upheavals in its recent history. These tragedies have taken too many lives, maimed people, destroyed communities and hurt development. We all should jointly say no to actions that divide people, reject conduct that ignores or violates the legal and constitutional rights of others and oppose practices that contest the prerogatives of state institutions to safeguard and protect every citizen.

Everyone has a fundamental right to their faiths and beliefs, but no one has any right to practise their faith in ways that diminish, distress or inconvenience others. And no one can be allowed to justify unlawful and anti-social behaviour on the grounds of religion. Only conduct that conforms to the Constitution and the laws of the country is valid, and it is the duty of the state to vigorously enforce that. No responsible leader or institution should teach their followers differently.

Henceforth, no person or group, under any guise will be allowed to block any road, obstruct public highways, occupy public facilities or inconvenience citizens in Kaduna State. Anybody that needs to march may do so, but they cannot take over public facilities or disrupt social services and commercial activities in Kaduna State, and any march or procession can be undertaken only with the prior knowledge of, and protection of the police to prevent the breakdown of law and order.

The Government wishes to assure every resident of Kaduna State that it is committed to fostering harmony, maintaining law and order and keeping the peace. Our Constitution rightly protects the freedom of worship, as well as the right to liberty, security and the pursuit of happiness. Everyone is entitled to these rights equally. We swore to uphold the Constitution, and our commitment to these values is unwavering. We will similarly protect these rights evenly.

We urge all citizens to be vigilant as they go about their normal activities, and to report any suspicions or concerns to the appropriate authorities. Let us all redouble our commitment to sustaining the peace, and to uphold each other in our God-given humanity.

While the crisis raged, the Kaduna State Government visited Zaria, and issued appeals for calm and peace. We have taken our time to make this formal broadcast due to the imperative to gather as much information as possible amidst the welter of conflicting claims, the urgency of restoring peace and the need to consult with the federal authorities.

The elections in Kogi and Bayelsa state were just a litmus test for this administration. With the way both elections went one can categorically say INEC has failed.

1. One will expect INEC to head to supreme court before embarking on the supplementary election to avoid wasting of tax payers money.
2. It took INEC more than 3 days to announce the result of a single state. One begins to wonder what the population of Kogi is.
3. INEC should be moving forward not backward. The high level of irregularities and violence it shows that INEC is retrogressing instead of progressing .
Bayelsa:
1. Bayelsa is only 8 local government and the election is not concluded yet. If it take 3 days for INEC to conduct election for just 8 local government one begins to wonder how long it will take to conduct the presidential election.
2. Violence is getting worse compare to Kogi. The high level of irregularities is also on the rise compare to Kogi.
With this one can categorically say INEC under Bihari and Manmood is a total failure.

Okay, this is my first time but I wanna share a confusing experience

I was preparing for the labour market about a year ago, after graduation, and having no clue even what my CV should look like and all

To cut the chase, I went online for possible interview questions and I stumbled on this 'guy's experience on an interview question that made me realise people think differently

The person in question said he went for an interview and was asked only 1 question, off course after the normal introduce yourself speech. The question was:

What is 1+1?

He said, as to this simplicity, he was confused, as you know how all these logical questions you're not supposed to assume is as easy as it looks but he was famished at this level.

To cut it short ,I was following the tread and found out saying '2' might have gotten this guy the job or maybe not. In a nutshell, he said nothing as he asked for the interviewer to explain and he did nothing but to repeat the question that

'What is 1+1?

He couldn't answer this and didn't get a call back.

Now am asking you guys how y'all will approach this question and what will be your response?

I am not telling you to become an hair stylist. Of course, not everybody is skillful with their hand. Being an entrepreneur encompasses a whole lot and you know what you are good at.

I believe from this story, you have been able to pick out one or two lessons after all in every nonsense, there is a sense.

Never live your life with a negative mindset because you find yourself in difficult situations. There are worse case scenarios and believe me you, you can never tell what's behind the smiles on the faces you come across on a daily basis.

Of course, I have only been able to throw some light on the financial difficulty some students go through, but there are other aspects too. You would be surprised to know the number of students with suicidal thoughts even when they live in luxury

No matter what, I repeat no matter what, suicide should never be an option.

LIKE the saying ,different situations require different measures.
I tell you this day, that no matter what you are going through in life, you should try as much as possible to be in control. Do not let any situation weigh you down or finally tear you apart.

In conclusion, always hold tight to your faith as we all know the saying that a man without faith is a man without hope.

The Federal Government, yesterday, approved the payment (not paid) of N413 billion to petroleum products marketers being the outstanding payment for subsidy claims‎, even as marketers insist they are owed about N470billion.

A top management source at the PPPRA, who spoke with Vanguard on the telephone, said the Agency is not aware that approvals had been given for the payment of N413 billion to marketers.

Three Senior Advocates of Nigeria have described as illegal the order of the Supreme Court, granting an application for a stay of proceedings in the trial of Senate President Bukola Saraki, who is being tried by the Code of Conduct Tribunal for false asset declaration.

The SANs contended that the concept of a stay of proceedings, which the Supreme Court granted to stop the trial of Saraki at the CCT, was abolished on May 13, 2015, when the then President Goodluck Jonathan signed the Administration of Criminal Justice Bill into law.



Human rights lawyer, Mr. Femi Falana (SAN), noted that the two chambers of the National Assembly had passed the bill to modernise the nation’s criminal justice system.

“In particular, the law has abolished stay of proceedings and interlocutory appeals by merging all preliminary objections with the substantive case in any criminal case instituted in a federal court in the country. The revolutionary intervention of the law was occasioned by the unending trial of politically-exposed persons in corruption cases,” Falana said in a statement on Sunday.

Falana, among other cases, cited the trial of Mohammed Abacha against the Federal Government, which was stalled for 12 years “on account of the preliminary objections raised and argued from the high court to the apex court by the defence counsel, Mr. J. B. Daudu SAN.”

The senior advocate added, “At the end of the ‘Israelite’s journey’, the Supreme Court ordered that the trial be commenced de novo at the federal capital territory high court. Having been completely frustrated in the circumstance, the Federal Government was compelled to discontinue Mr. Abacha’s corruption charge involving the theft of N664bn under the pretext that the case would be ‘amicably’ resolved!”

He equally cited the case of Major Hamza Mustapha, a former Chief Security Officer to the late military dictator, Gen. Sani Abacha, who was arraigned by the Lagos State Government for the murder of Alhaja Kudirat Abiola, the wife of the acclaimed winner of the June 12, 1993 presidential election, Chief Moshood Abiola.

He argued that lawyers for the accused also employed stay of proceedings to push the case for the lower court to the apex court, ensuring that the case was not concluded until after 13 years “on account of several preliminary objections and interlocutory appeals”.

Falana argued that granting the stay of proceedings in Saraki’s trial at the CCT by the Supreme Court on Thursday last week, had become illegal and had turned back the hand of the clock with the enactment of the AJCA by the Seventh Senate.

He said, “With the enactment of the AJCA, the suspension of criminal cases by all accused persons has been effectively stopped in Nigeria. Therefore, any judge, who orders a stay of proceedings in any criminal trial, does so illegally and is liable to be sanctioned by the National Judicial Council.

“It is unfathomable that the Supreme Court decided to return the country to the status quo ante in a rather brazen and bizarre manner. Given the ouster clause contained in section 306 of the AJCA, the Code of Conduct Tribunal ought not to have delivered its ruling in respect of the preliminary objections filed by Dr. Saraki. The ruling should have been read together with the judgment after the conclusion of the trial. It was the premature ruling of the Tribunal which led to the filing of an interlocutory appeal in the matter.

“Instead of declining jurisdiction to entertain the interlocutory appeal that has been abolished by the AJCA, the Court of Appeal ordered a suspension of the trial at the Code of Conduct Tribunal to await its decision. Although the Court of Appeal eventually dismissed the appeal, the trial of the substantive case at the CCT has been further halted by the Supreme Court, which has granted another stay of proceedings pending the hearing of the interlocutory appeal filed before it by the accused person.

“However, it is sad to note that in granting the order of stay of proceedings in the case, the apex court ignored the provisions of sections 306 and 396 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, 2015. It was not a case of oversight or lack of knowledge of the existence of the AJCA on the part of the court, but a deliberate judicial decision to turn back the hand of the clock in the ongoing battle against corruption and impunity in the land. Curiously, some senior lawyers have endorsed the blatant violation of the law in the matter.

“I am disturbed that a progressive lawyer like Emeka Ngige SAN was reported to have justified the illegality of the order of stay of proceedings. No doubt, the prosecution and the defence counsel who are Senior Advocates of Nigeria cannot be exonerated in the mockery of the criminal justice system.”

Falana called for the upturning of the pronouncement of the apex court, warning that if the order was allowed to stay, every other accused person would also apply for a stay of proceedings or interlocutory injunction to frustrate their trials.

Falana added, “Therefore, the controversial ruling of the Supreme Court should not be allowed to stand because of its far-reaching implications and negative impact on the administration of criminal justice in the country. Since the ruling is binding on all other courts in line with the hallowed principle of stare decisis, the Supreme Court should take advantage of the substantive appeal in the Saraki’s case to review its position with a view to confirming the abolition of stay of proceedings by section 306 of the AJCA.

“This clarification should be made as soon as possible in line with the letter and spirit of the AJCA. Otherwise, every accused person will continue to file interlocutory appeals and proceed to ask for a stay of proceedings pending the determination of such appeals.”

He warned the Supreme Court not to dance to the tune of those he called the agents of impunity.

“The apex court is advised to distance itself from the antics of the influential agents of impunity in the legal profession who have resolved to frustrate the trial of corruption cases by filing cumbrous motions and frivolous preliminary objections designed to shield members of the ruling class from prosecution,” he said.

Reacting to Falana’s argument on the Supreme Court ruling, Chief Adegboyega Awomolo (SAN), said in “case law principles,” the Supreme Court decision would have been in order.

“But in the case of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act and particularly with regards to the Practice Direction issued by Honourable Justice Aloma Mukthar, a retired Chief Justice of Nigeria 2014, it is obligatory that cases of corruption should not be suspended or stayed. That is the only difference; because it is a very dangerous precedence that the Supreme Court has laid down. I want to believe that they have other evidence or facts on record which would have justified their interference at this stage.

“But having regard to the various decisions on the amount of danger that stay of proceedings has brought to corruption cases in Nigeria and having regard to the mood of the nation regarding corruption, I believe it is a very dangerous precedence. And it would be latched on by so many corruption cases that will be coming forth.

“I would have preferred that the Supreme Court allowed the trial to go to conclusion because the law has provided that all preliminary objections shall be taken and decided together in the judgment of the court. For me, I would have preferred the provision of the Practice Direction which says criminal cases should be given prime importance.

“Yes the appellant has raised a lot of issues of impertinence by the lower court but the ACJA supports the tribunal, that all preliminary objections can be taken together with the judgment of the court. In other words, there ought not to be any interruption. We have seen how the judiciary has come under the hammer; how the whole world has said that the judiciary is the one protecting corrupt public officers, particularly the politically-exposed persons. This case is one of those cases that the tribunal has taken on and they ought to have allowed it to go on.”

In his own comment, Mr. Kunle Ogunba (SAN), said though he did not have the full facts of the case before the Supreme Court, he argued that the apex court should have allowed Saraki’s trial to proceed.

He was also of the view that others might want to take the advantage of the Supreme Court decision in upcoming criminal cases.

“Justice must not only be done but must be seen to have been done. When we look at it, we lawyers can understand the position of the Supreme Court but people outside might be crying foul. And I quite agree with Mr. Falana (SAN) in view of the antecedent of criminal trials in the country. You can appeal at the end of the whole case,|” Ogunba said.

The Supreme Court had on November 12 ordered a stay of proceedings of the trial of Saraki before the Code of Conduct Tribunal on 13 counts of false asset declaration.

The order of the Justice John Fabiyi-led five-man panel of the apex court followed a concession given by the Federal Government’s counsel, Mr. Rotimi Jacobs (SAN), for the proceedings of the tribunal to be halted if Saraki’s main appeal would be given an accelerated hearing.

It came after Saraki’s lead counsel, Mr. Joseph Daudu (SAN), had argued his client’s motion for stay of the CCT’s proceedings and while Jacobs was making his counter-submissions.

In a unanimous decision read by Justice Fabiyi, the apex court ordered the tribunal, which had fixed November 19 for the commencement of Saraki’s trial “to tarry awhile” pending the hearing and determination of the Senate President’s appeal.

The apex court ordered Jacobs to file his respondents’ brief in response to Saraki’s appellant’s brief served on him in court on November 12 within seven days.
