forex trading isnt 1+1, neither is there any maths formular for trading directions rather its all speculative in real time. If u 're a good trader like u likely said you should be able to turn that $500 to what ever capital you seek within a duration.
PoliticsRe: CNN Says Oil Is A Curse To Nigeria! by Thadude(m): 3:25pm On Dec 12, 2008
What CNN did was right! Our planet is in peril and Nigeria is a major contributor they need to expose the big oil firm and the Nigerian govt to the world. Besides, it was fun watching the Naija delta guys spiral shooting. I dont know why people on this forum are angry over the exposure of the truth!!!, Remember the truth isnt always sweet.

PoliticsRe: Huge Capital Flight Hits Nigerian Economy by Thadude(m): 7:16am On Dec 08, 2008
Dont count america out Yet!, USA is still the greatest country on earth. This is similiar to what happened during the great depression in the 1930s. If America coughs the world catches cold, in 1930 the German economy was badly hit by the great depression in America, and that was wht brought the emergence of Hitler cos' Germans wanted a stronger leader to take them from grass to grace. Just learnt in church today that a farm in Wiscosin has started using cow/pig dunk to generate electricity and Natural gas via fermentation in industrial scale. The down turn in the US economy is usually what bring out the best in America, New inventions will start springing up to solve their problem which will in turn will create more billionaires. The BIG 3 are bracing up for bio-vehicles which will completely eradicate U.S dependence on foreign oil, besides if all goes well in congress america will start drill their massive reserve which is said to be larger than the reserves of the saudis. But for an oil dependent economy like ours we shall be worst hit!, who's mentioning Nigeria among emerging developing nation?, a country still struggling to secure electricity for a quater of its population is not yet prepared to run the race to the future, its sad, but the truth. With the capital market collapsing in Nigeria, the Naira also collapsing. This is the time for Ya'radull to call for painful sacrifices from his political gangs. their total take home package should be slashed to 50% for 2yrs, after all when the going was good they enjoyed the benefit while the masses sitdon look! Even Mauritania did same last year, from the head of govt to national assembly down to political appointees opt for 50% take home pay rather than see a total collapse. This has exposed Soludo when international firms were repatrating their funds why didnt he devalue the naira then?, least that would have made it more expensive for them to secure dollars, and probably given them a second thoght cos no investor like to loose a dime, they would have lost some money to Nigeria in the repatration process via weaker naira trading against the dollar, or did he forget simple economic principles. Instead they were deceiving Nigerians that the fundamentals of our economy was strong and that the stock market had a shock absorber against the global economy crunch. How can the fundamentals of our economy be strong when the people of the land are not empowered with basic infastructure with which to steer the economy.
BusinessRe: Naira Vs Dollar: The Crash Of A Pampered Currency? by Thadude(op): 7:39pm On Dec 07, 2008
hbrednic,

I see ur point, like you i would love to take advantage of the weak naira to send money home for specific projects. But the truth is that at the end of the day, we weakness of the naira will come back hunting!, its not about the quantity but quality of the naira. I believed the naira has been pampered and the right price for it should have been N130 -$1 from the get-go!. The only disadvantage of having a strong naira is that we dont have the fundamentals to keep it floating as a strong currency, so its almost like a bubble waiting to burst and with the present decline in the oil market there isnt anything Soludo can do. Plus over time state governors have taken advantage of the strong naira to steal dollars and send oversea, now with a weaker naira it means those political thieves will have to pay more naira to obtain dollars they intend to keep in their oversea accounts.
BusinessRe: Urgent ! Western Union Help ! by Thadude(m): 3:07am On Dec 07, 2008
Larez,

I hope u arent refering to ME! All I did was gave a honest reply to a question in which my sister found herself some few weeks back.
I had sent money directly to my sister few weeks back, cos' I was tired of sending it via relatives who had international passport since they were getting use to deeping their fingers into it. When I did the banks in Nigeria refused to pay her with her company I.d cos she hadn't an international passport, I had to go back to western union agent here in the U.S to change the names to my relatives again, I felt bad, cos it almost looked as if, there was no standard form of identification in NIGERIA, I could see the suprise in her eyes (the agent) . Then, she read out the acceptable form of identification, which she said were Nigeria govt issued I.d, International Passport, driver's license or security personal I.d e.g police, custom, airforce or military I.d.
After hearing the list I figured that considering the cost of international passport and time factor for procuring it, it would be easier, cost effective and faster for her to get a driver's license, tho!, i knew the some banks might not pay her with it, despite the fact that it was one of the requirement post by the Nigeria financial regulators. I was hoping her banker would oblige her the opportunity to pick it up cos' she ran a savings account with them (GTB), i also factored in that since i was the sender they would consider my Nigerian Names and any doubt of the funds being sent by a foreign National creating a scam ideology would be erazed.
I sent her funds again recently, everything went well and she was paid using her newly acquired driver's license!!!
I understand were the poster's question might be coming from, "been there done that" besides i dont think the poster hasnt got friends or relatives to help him/her out, rather i believe the poster wants to make it a private affair.
***If u have an international passport, not everyone applies for a passport cos they wanna keep it at home and use it for western union or for purpose of trying to obtain a visa which they know, they stand no chance and at the end having the passport expiring with them at home. However most people who do apply for a Passport, do so cos they stand a clear cut chance of been issue a visa 90%. If you understood this you would understand why the poster posted this question.
Besides, only a foolish man will use his I.d card (international passport, license or govt issued I.d) to assist someone he hardly knows for western union collection, this is however not to say there arent foolish men in Nigeria. I know my onions and i'm not one of them, neither will i fly down to be-friend someone i dont know from Adam because of western union, makes no sense to me hopefully it wont make any sense to you either.

In today's paper Soludo said he is gonna ensure that forex speculator loose money by purging the market with dollars,
Question?, where was the CBN when the Naira was collapsing?, why didnt he purge the market with enough dollars to meet supply, isnt he suppose to be the generic prof with brilliant ideas or is he just a duplicate?
Could you imagine that the forex market was closed yesterday, cos of shortage of dollars after naira had its biggest 1 day loss of N10.
Its high time Nigerian leaders stop sugar coating and start tell us the bitter truth so we can adjust. I m sure if Yaradua's economic team werent missing in action they could have advise him more on the budget which would have allowed in include painstaking sacrifices on govt officials.
Soludo we are waiting for your maggic stick, i hope it wont be late enough to send the prices of goods and services in Nigeria skyrocketing, cos' right now there is panic in the system, even those who have nothing to do with dollars are brazing up to buy it at all cost.

BusinessRe: What Can We Do To Avoid So Much Traffic In Nigeria Most In Lagos? by Thadude(m): 2:41pm On Dec 04, 2008
Okokorunna thank you.

Simply expand our roads to 5-lanes on either sides, the roads we have today were projected for our population of the 1960s/1970s, Now that we have grown in size isnt it sensibly right that our roads also to grow in expansion to handle the kind of population we now have in the 21st century??, The number of people without cars in lagos tripple those who have cars in Lagos. In any case even if it was one man one car, the traffic jam on our roads will be worst than what we have today.
Fashola understands this, may his name be written in GOLD when he lives office for the numerous initiative taken, which the past governors of the state couldnt initiate.
BusinessRe: Naira Vs Dollar: The Crash Of A Pampered Currency? by Thadude(op): 2:17pm On Dec 04, 2008
While it is very usual for the naira to fall against the dollar and not fall against the pounds going by past trends, take note that our foreign reserve is in USD,our crude oil is sold in USD equivalent. So there is more pressure on the US dollars as compared to pounds. The USA has the largest and most resilent economy. That is why world countries including china invest in US economy by buying bonds from the reserve bank.

BusinessRe: Naira Vs Dollar: The Crash Of A Pampered Currency? by Thadude(op): 11:48pm On Dec 03, 2008
Certainly, you're right!, Prices of goods and services will go up even those goods that has nothing to do with dollars cos' the Nigerian market react sensitively to the reaction of dollars. The budget announcement by Mr. president finally bursted the bubble cos' of the deficit involved. Its gonna be a free fall we shall be lucky if it stabilizes at N160 cos of the global financial crunch and down wards oil price, i only hope it wont affect fuel prices, cos' crude oil is refined oversea with USD. I dont think there is much the CBN can do at this time cos' the law of demand and supply is playing itself out in the currency market, except if the prices of crude oil goes up to between $70-$80. That is when the CBN could inject more USD to meet demand.
However if we had a smart government, this would have been the time for hard sacrifices especially from the presidency, Senate and govt parastals. All their elaborate allowances could have been reviewed so that govt can divert the wasted funds to people oriented projects rather than creating a huge deficit. e.g Oversea allowance should have been brought to 0% cos' oversea trip for govt officials add huge pressure to the dollars, also considering the fact that their trip oversea is always an avenue for them to take stolen funds abroad.
This could also have been an opportunity for the govt to step up the fight against corruption and such recovered loot e.g Ibori and lucky's loot could help fund our budget in this trying times. Cos' if care isnt taken we could see the naira slum N200 to $1.
BusinessNaira Vs Dollar: The Crash Of A Pampered Currency? by Thadude(op): 5:13pm On Dec 03, 2008
If the economic sequence of the last few days is anything to go buy, the naira seems to be collapsing, what does this mean for the Nigerian economy as at last count it was N130 to $1 from N117, Will it continue to fall, i'm predicting N145 to $1 before the end of the week.
Should Nigerians oversea take advantage of this drop to send money home?,
BusinessRe: Urgent ! Western Union Help ! by Thadude(m): 4:44pm On Dec 03, 2008
If u re unable to get an international passport due to cost and time factor apply for driver's license, that's if u dont have the Nigeria I.d card issue during OBJ era.
Just yesterday my sister was able to pick up the money i sent her with her driver's license at GTB.

Hopefully this answers ur question!

1. Naija can not be like Ghana cos' Naija isnt Ghana.
2. Naija can not be like Ghana cos Ghana isnt the yardstick meant for measuring success in Africa.

This didnt require deep thoughts or scientific wisdom, basic common sense can tell u why in 2mins.

TravelRe: Is My Mum Automatically Qualified For American Citizenship? by Thadude(m): 2:36pm On Nov 28, 2008
The simple answer is nope!, Your mum is not qualified to get US citizenship on her own!!! Neither will she be qualified for a USA entry visit visa, if she was to apply on that basis.
There is still alot of huddles she will have to jump thro' which she cant go thro with out assistance from ur grand mum. Its a painstaking and expensive process which will include DNA testing if she finally decides to go ahead.
