There's no approval mail, you'll only know when you get your passport back
vinegar:
Hello house...Quick one....For paper application (upfront medicals ), does CIC send a mail if visa is approved? Or they just issue it, package your documents and dispatch to VAC with out informing the applicant?
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by TheBae: 7:14pm On Jul 14, 2015
That should just remain in your CV. I don't think it's relevant.
anudavies:
Thanks @thebae for the reply

TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by TheBae: 6:22pm On Jul 14, 2015
Gosh I swear you're giving yourself unnecessary headache. Your sponsor can reside anywhere as long as you can prove home ties to Nigeria and prove your relationship with your sponsor.
Omonjoe:
Has anyone goten TRV with a sponsor in US or in anoda country outside Nigeria? Is it advisable to use sponsor who reside outside Nigeria?
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by TheBae: 6:06pm On Jul 14, 2015
I believe the Ties in Nigeria and Canada are written as one so even if your ties in Canada is perfect for them and your ties in Nigeria aren't strong enough, it'll still be ticked, leaving people confused. In my opinion, it's more about having strong ties in Nigeria, that's all. You can't be refused because you have a relative abroad, instead it even put less pressure on you SOA if you're going to be living with him/her. Focus on showing strong ties in Nigeria.
I stand to be corrected
DareFestus is angry today oh. Bros please calm down
favour0011:
Nobody here is rili been able to explain the meaning of strong ties in canada... so can you explain it for us. The few people I have seen with that as a reason for denial hv family members in canada without strong ties here in nigeria.
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by TheBae: 5:57pm On Jul 14, 2015
Lmao! At least you've even booked it sef. Me I'm still awaiting TRV so I can't book yet. I'm just watching the prices go up like that. What airline did you book?
deedee0:
As in!! I can't even cry cheesy
I nau made the mistake of using online card payment, I feel if I had gone to their office or used another payment method, would have cost less.
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by TheBae: 5:44pm On Jul 14, 2015
1. It's quite early to start applying for 2016, take your time to package your application properly, there's no rush.
2. How old are you? When did you graduate from University? If you're a young and fresh gradute (2014), you don't need any job experience, personal assets or whatever.
3. Yes, you can use your sponsor's land documents
anudavies:

Mine was early July so I guess it has changed.
SeraSera:
Oh, really? Mine actually did say 30. That was early June. I guess things have changed since then.
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by TheBae: 10:00am On Jul 14, 2015
Lol 5hours is pretty short though. You can just go around the airport for 3hours, (window)shop, eat, have a quick nap and start getting ready to board an hour before take off. Some flights have overnight layovers oh. You're lucky
chrisviral:
For five whole hours, I'll just be sitting at the airport, phew cry sad
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by TheBae: 9:58am On Jul 14, 2015
I spent 5hours at IOM, you'll have to wait in the waiting room before the tests even begin. Just assume you'll be done by 12noon
soji0509:
Congratulations. I hope you know that monday MAY be a public holiday. Confirm from the hospital if they will be working that day.
Are you very far from Lagos ? If I were you and not far from Lagos, I would have traveled in the evening to pass the night in lagos so that I could be at the hospital by 7am latest. The test at IOM Ikeja is said to be very fast and could be concluded within 30 minutes.I will then return to base immediately. You should be able to give you place of work a call by 8.30am that you will be in shortly. That you had to attend to an issue not earlier envisaged. If truancy had not been your habit, your office will understand and bear it with you if you package it well. Do not delay the medical test unnecessarily please.
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by TheBae: 7:49am On Jul 14, 2015
Lol if you have a their visa, yes. If you don't, you'll sit in the airport because you cannot pass through their border without one.
chrisviral:
Anybody flying Air France on August 16th undecided

If you have flied before, will they allow me to run out of the airport and go take pictures of that popular Paris tower (that thing wey b like prism) undecided undecided

Abi I go just seat for airport like that...

The medical mail says 14days
SeraSera:
Congratulations. No, it will not be too late. You have a 30 day window within which to have your medicals done.
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by TheBae: 8:50pm On Jul 13, 2015
Wow! At 8pm? Congratulations! Please share your documents. Also what did you do to address the reasons for your past denials? You're the real MVP for not giving up along the line.

Phronesis2:

Congratulations!!
Thomby2k12:
Hallelujah! It is medical request ooooo ooooo.
My heartfelt appreciation to every member of this forum for all your contributions to the success of my application.

I will post details of the documents I submitted soon.
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by TheBae: 9:52pm On Jul 12, 2015
Well, that's a tough one. If you plan to go before resumption then it's very risky but possible with upfront medicals judging by the new average processing time on the forum.
6weeks is a long time, can't they send it to you online? Have you been refused Canadian visa before? If you have, I'd advise you to just chill and work toward winter so you can have all the time to properly package your application. Slow and steady. God help you
gedtalks:
TheBae or anyone who can help please advice me. I have some documents that will expire by 30th of this month: that is why I want to risk applying for fall again tomorrow, but again it seems to be very dangerous due to the short time interval. the school starts by september 8th. I do not think I can obtain an admission letter for winter by that time if I shift the admission to winter, it might take up to 6 weeks before a new admission letter is sent. what do you suggest that I should do
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by TheBae: 9:46pm On Jul 12, 2015
320k to 370k for Virgin one stop from Lagos to London to Halifax. You can as well just use the opportunity to spend some time in London if you're not in a hurry

funmi14:
320-370-ish/ Meaning?
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by TheBae: 8:43pm On Jul 12, 2015
320 to 370-ish.

kennykentipsy:
eeyah what's the price range
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by TheBae: 7:05pm On Jul 12, 2015
Sadly most of the flights to Halifax have 2 stops except Virgin. Not sure if there's any other 1 stop flight there
kennykentipsy:
check Egyptair Ethiopian airline Turkish airline but avoid airlines with 2 stops as the journey would be too long and the country u would transit thru
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by TheBae: 4:09pm On Jul 12, 2015
I'm still serving so I can't really leave too early. I plan to get there say first week in September and stay in a hotel for like a week yeah BUT there's only 1 unit available for September in that building and if I don't get that one, I won't be able to walk to my uni cos the school is on the highway, all other apartments are so far away. They actually told me someone could check it on my behalf. I've filled some of their forms online. *sigh*
Solo8:
If you inspect and like the place, you'll have to sign a rent or lease contract. Till that contract is signed and agree on a move in date, the place is not yours. Some self renters might understand your situation and accommodate but it sounds like you're dealing with a rental company, you'd want to make sure your hear in person because everybody involved will want to protect their ass in case something goes wrong or you back out of the deal.

If you don't want to do the hostel thing, you can get here early, spend a bit extra and stay at a hotel/motel/bed and breakfast for a week. That's enough time for you to get everything done.

Keep me updated if anything comes up
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by TheBae: 3:20pm On Jul 12, 2015
Are you sure? Because they haven't said anything about contracts yet. I think it's just to view and inspect it. I really don't know how it works. The problem is that there's only 1 unit available for September in the building so I kind of have to have it inspected so that I can pay asap

Solo8:
To both of you above my comment, it'll be hard to have a random person sign off on legal paper work for you. How long is your school hostel contract for? If you can move out after a few moths, then just use the hostels while you look for your place.
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by TheBae: 3:17pm On Jul 12, 2015
No I'm not considering that at all
funmi14:
Same experience here, are you considering school hostel?
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by TheBae:
You guys, please do you know anyone living in Nova Scotia who might be able to help me inspect an apartment?
Kilaam Properties won't accept any form of payment unless there someone on ground to check the apartment for me.
Thanks

But you reapplied because you thought it was worth the try. He's applying for the first time so why discourage him?
I understand where you're coming from but as we all know, there are people in his and your situation in terms of course who have gotten TRV. Would you be able to live with yourself you end up getting the TRV for your advanced diploma knowing you advised someone to defer his admission because he's not going for PGD?

hayqinsbFX:
That is what I would have told my brother...

It myt be discouraging...I know

It's an advice I wish I had gotten..
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by TheBae: 11:34am On Jul 12, 2015
You told him outrightly to defer his admission. That is discouraging. He still has a chance at it
hayqinsbFX:
It's not about discouraging anyone here...I don't want to be in the position to say "and I wanted to tell you o"
Every decision is still in his hands, just letting hm know about his chances isn't bad.
But there's still the God factor in the end..
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by TheBae: 11:31am On Jul 12, 2015
Nah, there's nothing like that. Once you have your TRV, you can leave when you want to. Just put all school deadlines into consideration.
gedtalks:
you guys are really grate O!..... Okay how is trv edited; does it state something like; valid only if traveler leaves before the date of resumption or something?
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by TheBae: 12:57am On Jul 12, 2015
I paid on Friday too and I didn't encounter this issue. It was just a normal transaction and I paid 28k. I'm not sure what's happening
CoCoLav:
Okay, thanks guys.
Tnuola I'm loving the way my name is first on that list cheesy

@Team12, I went to the bank to pay for IOM medicals on Friday and it was a battle. Filled a normal teller and was told by the cashier that there's a customized teller for IOM. Turned out the account number on the customized teller was different from the one IOM sent me. I insisted on using an ordinary teller and filling the details on their website. They even said the money was #26,250 and the cashier refused to collect anything in excess of that. She showed me a circular sent by IOM to the bank issuing the directive. Had to go to their head office.

Did you guys encounter such?
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by TheBae: 12:49am On Jul 12, 2015
Please don't let anybody discourage you. As you may already know, all applications are unique. It's very possible if you write a very convincing SOP. Go ahead, you never can tell which VO that God will direct your application to. Just do your own part, submit all that they require and let God do the rest.
wayaa007:
The confidence i have is, I have three colleagues who all applied as b.Sc holders and got a visa to pursue advanced diploma(co-op). That's the only encouragement I have, I will go ahead, if it bounces back, I apply for a pgd...
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by TheBae: 12:26am On Jul 12, 2015
Booking a ticket even 24hrs before your intended departure date shouldn't be an issue. The cost is the issue. You may have to pay more money for it than someone who booked it long before departure. Prices vary based on the dates.
Also, the average processing time right now is about 8 weeks unless you can tap into Team12's kind of favour.
Regardless, you can still resume a week or 2 after the resumption date, you should be able to register your courses online once you're sure of your TRV

I stand to be corrected
gedtalks:
Please someone advise me: I secured admission for a school in Calgary (Fall start 2015). I applied for visa but was denied because my documents were incomplete. Right now I am trying to apply again by 17th of this month. Knowing that it takes 6 weeks to process study permit; I will be expecting my application to be fully processed by 28 August (just 10 days from the program start date).

If I do upfront medical and I am successful, will they issue me study permit that very day (August 28th) ? or is there another stage before issuance.

If I am issued a study permit by 28, what are my chances of booking a flight ticket within 9 days?
