I think a round trip is beneficial if you know the period you'd like to come visiting.
The flexi-date ones make a lot of sense cos it allows you to adjust your dates 24hours before the departure date you choose, I think that costs like 15k extra or so.
I stand to be corrected
justicia:
Hello everyone, I guess its ok to book a one way ticket right, cos that's what everybody seems to be booking. Just curious cos av heard peeps here talk abt how booking a round trip is beneficial. Although the round trips am seeing have killer fares. Pls enlighten.

Mehn! The accommodation struggle is very real.
Lily300:
Thank you. It is the Lords doing and it has been beautiful. Currently looking into accommodation on kijiji.seems id just have to get there and then find a place as I can't get any of the renters to hold a room for me till I arrive the 1st of September.
Do you know any ladies looking for a roommate?

So you're going to claim your baggage and then check in again? Or are you staying in Toronto for a while? Please explain.
yetunde84:
I got a toronto flight at 247k, den I will get der local flight to my destination at 40k...total 287k. My advise, get LOS(lagos) to YYZ (toronto) den book a local flight to Saska...
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by TheBae: 8:21am On Jul 23, 2015
What would it really cost to simply book an appointment? The receptionists really embarrassed a lot of families that didn't book or didn't come early enough. Just speaking from my experience.
Chars1289:
No form of embarrassment from any quaters for not booking an appointment.Let him go there before 8a.m,he will be attended to.In my case, i didnt book an appointment.

In my own case, my references were pretty basic, no professor or fantastic professional reference. I believe my SOP sold me.
So I guess we can't really measure how important the are but we know for sure that both can determine the admission committee's decision smiley
SeraSera:
Yes, I got the same impression from the prof who recommended me. I didn't know how important letters of recommendation were until I met him. With virtually no work experience and a pretty lame SOP, I think his letter did it for me.
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by TheBae: 7:35am On Jul 23, 2015
Because Canada is far na. + exchange rate. You'll spend close to that going to the US as well. And this is peak period, BA is 1.6M to Halifax, one stop, isn't that ridiculous?
Just book as soon as possible cos the prices will only go higher maybe until the end of September
favour0011:
I don't get it... why re these flights so expensive? Are they return tickets or one way?
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by TheBae: 12:21am On Jul 23, 2015
Play around with your departure and arrival (if applicable) dates, the prices change depending on the dates
Gu2015:
really wen I checked lagos to saskatoon for 10th August saw 591k hmmmmmmm

TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by TheBae: 12:16am On Jul 23, 2015
Or he can just save himself the embarrassment and book an appointment. There's a very high chance that they won't attend to him especially at this rush hour medical period.
kennykentipsy:
they don't accept Cash u can go without booking appointment bus give them good excuse that u not always chanced.
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by TheBae: 9:59pm On Jul 22, 2015
You should be bothered if you applied via paper route. For online, it doesn't really matter since you have your original passport. But you should make a copy of your data page still.
I stand to be corrected.
MidnightinParis:
I was only sent the medical form too but don't think one should be bothered with the unsent stamped passport datapage 'cos the former is the koko from what I previously read here I think.

Not bothered sha. Going to IOM tomorrow morning.
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by TheBae: 9:56pm On Jul 22, 2015
You have to book an appointment and pay into their account before you go. I met someone who came there with cash but wa told to go pay at the bank first.
senarthor:
Please I need to know if possible to go with cash to IOM early morning for your medical or is a must you book appointment and I pay to their bank? Please anybody with good advice and way forward
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by TheBae: 9:24pm On Jul 22, 2015
"Good" is relative. What you think is good might not be good enough. Not everyone knows how to draft an outstanding SOP that's why people seek 3rd or 4th opinions. Recommendation letters are also important but SOP is like the major "sell yourself" part of the application.

GboyegaD:
Do you think any serious applicant wouldn't write a very good SoP? I'm just thinking his recommendation letters could be the problem.

Yes, they sent me an email saying "your visa has been approved"
Thomby2k12:
Did they send you an email that your trv has been approved or how does one know that the visa has been approved after one has completed the medical?

@bao1004
In addition to what soj has said, it helps to personalise your SOP. In fact, it is very important. Google each of the schools, find out what exactly they boast about, is it their research quality, their peaceful environment, their personalised learning system, etc and tell them that those are the qualities you look out for in a university. Don't write only 1 SOP for all. Try to make it somewhat unique to each of the universities.

Also, some schools check SOPS for plagiarism. Keep that in mind when using formats/samles from the Internet
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by TheBae: 6:07pm On Jul 22, 2015
This is a very very helpful post! I wasn't even qualified for admission because I have no work experience. But I think God's grace and a very good SOP really helped
thesoj:
I'm so sorry to hear that you weren't accepted at any of the schools.

Did you write an extremely compelling statement of purpose? This part is critically important, no matter your CGPA. In particular, did you in your SOP express passion for why you want to do an MSc in said school and did you explain how your work experience and other experiences have shaped or will shape your desire to study further? Did you explain, in nuance, what part of economics intrigues you and why? Did you explain what it is about their school and which faculty members' research work piques your interest and why? Did you explain what it is you have done that shows your passion for economics?

US/Canadian schools really like passionate people, and you have to let that shine through in your application. These schools would admit a candidate with inferior CGPA if he/she shows significant passion and potential (which makes sense). It is not too unusual for a high CGPA candidate to be declined admission (due to other competitive candidates), though it is a bit unusual to be declined by all four schools.

I suggest you apply again. You have a very high chance of admission by several schools should you decide to let your application flow with passion this time. I apologize in advance if my presumption about your SOP is wrong.

Also, did you make sure your recommenders wrote very good (but realistic and non-psycophantic) recommendation letters on your behalf?

Cheers. E go beta

I've been checking them travelstart oh, i'll definitely check TripAdvisor and priceline. Thank you
ayooluwatoni:
The thing is, their are many operators that are quite cheaper, but these agents dont deal with them. Eg I got lagos to St Johns for abt 404k (travelstarts.com) and d cheapest united airlines for abt 370k (kayak.com). Then I decided to check "my TripAdvisor" and I got for 290+k. So check on priceline.com too
