Your milk will most likely be thrown into the garbage. Don't waste your money. Milk isn't really expensive. You can get a litre of fresh milk for $1-2. It'll even be heavy in your luggage sef. Just my opinion sha
kennykentipsy:
well I made research on provision i.e milk beverage etc ar quite OK and also local foods ar cheap bur imported foods ar expensive it's better u buy them here that will sustain u for a while.

check those links for prices of local food

I'm not sure milk is a good idea, they might still thrash it eventually. They're very sensitive to dairy products. @Deedee0 You can try sha
IyaEjima:
They probably meant beverages esp full cream milk, cabin(if u r a fan of cabin), Gnut, etc.. Cornflakes isn't necesary, u'll buy d best of flakes in Canada.. Pls be mindful of ur declarations, else u'll have them all thrashed if u r unlucky.. Esp d milk.
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by TheBae: 5:09pm On Jul 25, 2015
Yeah, you'll need a lot of it. Don't go and waste money on mumu food during your stopover
CoCoLav:
Ewww!
*sigh*
Will just fry chicken. I trust my mummy.
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by TheBae: 5:08pm On Jul 25, 2015

TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by TheBae: 3:13pm On Jul 25, 2015
But it'll last you for a while now. Clothes are definitely important as well sha. But trust me, you wuna take enough food so you won't spend on food for a while.
hayqinsbFX:
well, what will you take that wont finish....
if God provides a job there, that expensive food will look so cheap.

just saying tho....ill hav preference for clothes than food...as those once wud last when the food has finished...
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by TheBae: 3:12pm On Jul 25, 2015

TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by TheBae: 3:07pm On Jul 25, 2015
African foods are relatively expensive abroad that's why people take them along from here.
hayqinsbFX:
When u saay foodstuff....what do u mean?
What is it that's not there...
My friend said he gets our vegetables aat will...OHA, UGU, OGBONO, palmoil...etc
My babe even said I sudnt over load myself with food.
I should concentrate more on clothes and shoes as those can be expensive there...

What type of food stuff do u mean?
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by TheBae: 2:52pm On Jul 25, 2015
Ahh! Stuff like Dudu Osun, Robb, etc. Lol I have plenty space don't worry.
GboyegaD:
Provisions shocked shocked shocked Madam, carry foodstuff before provisions ooo cos you fit find those ones easily for here.
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by TheBae: 2:45pm On Jul 25, 2015
Fine oh, provisions are set. No foodstuff yet huh
GboyegaD:
I greet you madam. How preparation for travel?
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by TheBae: 2:37pm On Jul 25, 2015
Hi dear, first week in September.
I've travelled with Lufthansa before, it's cool, the food is wack though so I'll advise you to fry some turkey or something along, Frankfurt airport is huge so you might not get too bored too quickly during your stopover. They're quite strict at the airport in Frankfurt sha, not as friendly as other airports
CoCoLav:
TheBae how far? When are you leaving?
Finally opted for Lufthansa
Please who has travelled with them before?
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by TheBae: 9:29pm On Jul 24, 2015
I did medical on the same day as Cocolav, she got a medical passed update a whole week before me. Maybe cos she applied online. But I think you shouldn't compare too much at this stage. Unnecessary pressure
ahyotomiwa:
@LEXYJ123...actually our profile with dates are same..app date, med call date except mine is still reading processed not dispatched..it all well.
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by TheBae: 9:25pm On Jul 24, 2015
Nawa oh. Oga sir. I hail you sir.
GboyegaD:
You don't need a U.S. visa since you don't have to go to the U.S. for anything. Once it is approved, you drive to the closest border to you, make a U-turn and that border point becomes your PoE where your study permit will be printed and given to you. I have met a few people who did same.
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by TheBae: 8:54pm On Jul 24, 2015
I didn't do upfront medicals
Crich:
Online. Was urs an upfront? Did you send the mail to cic yourself after receiving the medical request?
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by TheBae: 8:49pm On Jul 24, 2015
It's normal. If I'm not mistaken I believe it's the embassy's way of introducing you to the immigration officer so your passport is already stamped. Mine was dispatched 2/3 days after I got tha mail
badtsharpguy:
The mail says
To facilitate your arrival in Canada, inform the officer of the reason for your visit (study or work)and present this letter with your passport.

Why I am confused here is that my passport is with them in Ghana as I submitted via the Paper route, so I wonder why they are giving me this STORY.

So therefore, I am asking has anyone got this similar mail prior to the passport being dispatched and visa issuedhuh

huhhuh
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by TheBae: 8:30pm On Jul 24, 2015
I didn't do upfront and I went almost 8 weeks without hearing anything. That reason doesn't hold water.
ayooluwatoni:
You know some people stay so far away from Lagos, Abuja or PH. So you can imagine the number of times they would have to travel to Lagos, putting to consideration the dead traps we call roads. In addition, medical reports last for a year according to CIC. But if their reasons for the upfront is to fast track their applications, then it's a complete waste of time.....and increases tension the more. The two weeks silent period before I was called for medicals was really killing.....the medical call gave some relief and hope......so can't now imagine going for 6 weeks or more without anything....... kai! Canada high commission no dey try honestly!!!
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by TheBae: 3:43pm On Jul 24, 2015
Did you apply via paper route or online?
Crich:
I also did upfront in June and sent a mail attaching upfront medical slips and cic medical form as advised by The Consultant practice on Wednesday night but my medical status is yet to change ooo.
I sent to ACCRAIMMIGRATION and Accra.immigration@international.gc.ca.
Pls, who knows the reason it hasn't changed
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by TheBae: 3:38pm On Jul 24, 2015
They told me within 2 working days oh. Got approval after a week
kennykentipsy:
IOM sends results IMMEDIATELY so I was told by the female dr who did my physical examination test. and I got approval 3 working days after test
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by TheBae: 2:37pm On Jul 24, 2015
I did my medicals 10 days after my medical mail. It doesn't affect anything as long as it's within 14 days
awijaylin:
Good day all, i am very new to this forum just heard about it yesterday when i went for my medicals at IOM Ikeja.
i'm having a bit of a challenge and i was hoping someone could help me out. So here it goes, i got a mail to go for my medicals on the 13th of this month and dint do it until yesterday and it requires 14 days for the result to get to CIC, so i'm just wondering if all is going to play out well. Thanks.
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by TheBae: 12:22pm On Jul 24, 2015
Yes that's the issue, you contact the International student advisor and International student exco members in your uni or beg anybody you know in that province to go check it out for you. Those landlords hardly compromise

emjay13:
Am having no luck with this accommodation thing, all the landlords have gotten in touch with wants me to view the place before renting out.
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by TheBae: 11:07am On Jul 24, 2015
@opesyy I replied you email oh. Did you get it?
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by TheBae: 11:03am On Jul 24, 2015
Yeah it should but with CIC's recent inconsistencies, not getting the email before dispatch shouldn't cause any panic. See that guy who got his mail just last week and the date on the letter shows it had been ready weeks ago. No cause for alarm jare

hayqinsbFX:
I thnk these people wait to dispatch the passport in bulk.
Most people got dispatched yesterday too..
Normally ur approval mail sud come before dispatch
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by TheBae: 11:01am On Jul 24, 2015
That would be cool for someone landing early, I'm going quite late so I can't wait till the last minute.
I have it all sorted sha. Payments are being made already so I'm finally safe.
@ayoalade is the most amazing person in the world. If it wasn't for him, I'd have lost the best/only accommodation that I was interested in. He's just too amazing.

kennykentipsy:
a day or two before you leave book an accommodation on kijiji inform the landlord the date of ur arrival for inspection that should work
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by TheBae: 10:44am On Jul 24, 2015
They send the approval mail before or after. I know someone who had to email them for it after collecting her stamped passport.
Relax, it's positive
yetunde84:
Somebody please tell me it's not delayed ooooo...
I tracked my application and saw 'your processed passport has been dispatched from accra ' 22/7/2015. Paper Route did medical 4/07/2015. Itumo oooo
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by TheBae: 10:43am On Jul 24, 2015
Yes I did, it just got dispatched yesterday, a couple of days after I got my letter of introduction/approval letter
yetunde84:
Please did you track to know the date they actually dispatched your passport...please let me know.
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by TheBae: 10:34am On Jul 24, 2015

TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by TheBae: 7:30am On Jul 24, 2015
Ah, amen oh! I've been trying to sort mine out for months so I won't have to starting running around when I go in September. Hopefully I'll finalise it today sha.
Lily300:
my sister, say it again.but I truly believe God will provide. Like Abrahams burnt sacrifice.
