DissTroy: We look back on Nigeria in the colonial times and how it was better administered and the years after when all the colonialist had not left yet were our most prosperous as a country. Even on this thread and on the wider social media. Should I post examples across social media?
Don't our old uncles and aunties remind us of these things? Don't they remind you? Are they glorifying Colonialism?
Interestingly, the better administrated parts of South Africa and Zimbabwe are those controlled by... You know the words I'm about to type next.
You and I know why Bonny Island seemed, for years, better administrated and organized than many other parts were. At least parts of it.
Speaking to the glory days of Nazi Germany, WW2 Japan or Apartheid South Africa is in bad taste, especially if the person doing so comes from the group that committed the attrocities that have come to be associated with that era.
Nigerians might remember fondly colonial Nigeria, but a Brit making reference to those "glory days" would draw ire from the average Nigerian, regardless of what their thoughts are on colonial Nigeria.
Ibime: Dr Umar is not a mainstreamed political figure. What's next Sheikh Gumi?
I can understand bringing in Mamdani since the loonartik has been mainstreamed by the far left and even got position, but Dr Umar has no political affiliation and couldn't care to vote. Dr Umar position is "fk all y'all" like Malcolm X.
Disstroy, the OG King Strawman
Same Dr Umar that practically under every of his IG post is people trolling him, asking for the Marcus Garvey school he promised to build. A famous internet troll and running meme becomes a mainstream black political figure because of agenda.
DissTroy: I can post several others who have made the same allusion but where never called out as apartheid supporters.
The media is too skewed.
Off the top of my head, I can mention the owners of the largest mainstream media corporations and the political leanings of their founders so there are platforms to avoid.
You can't want the real truth then base your world view on the reportage of Sky News, Fox News, The New York Post or from Ben Shapiro who shill for the Right.
Or want fair reporting from CNN, New York Times, Bloomberg News (this one contested against Trump and doesn't hide his hate), NPR and the likes.
It's just like I stopped reading Tech Crunch which used to be the biggest tech startup blog when they unraveled as anti-Elon Musk on everything; then we discovered they are owned by Yahoo! whose owns are DNC contributors.
Or watching CBS' The View and you think it's real political commentary.
If I don't read from actual sources and watch videos of them talking unedited, I don't believe it.
Avoid mainstream media. There are alternative sources of news which are always fact-checked.
The posts in question were both from Twitter, so not sure which one con be mainstream media inside.
People generally align with conclusions that fit their biases, based off your post history and takes on American politics, it would look like you're right-wing aligned, and being influenced by right-wing media (maybe you are and you don't know ).
Instead of accusing people of being under influence, it's easier to just focus on the meat of their argument.
It was Elon responding to a post condemning communism globally and how kleptomaniacs hide under equality to steal. Some use the term nationalism.
It's also to a broader issue where states like California mulling a bill to over-tax the ultra rich so much, about $1 trillion HNI have left the state.
It was also about issues where foreign properties are nationalized.
It happened in South Africa, Zimbabwe, Venezuela etc and we all know how that panned out. It was a post in support of capitalism which I know you support.
CNN will never tell you this because they like to paint distorted images.
Lol, you can't blame anybody that comes to the same conclusion as Ibime, especially when the "high civilization" in that context was accompanied by extreme inequality and segregation.
Blacks in Rhodesia and Apartheid South Africa, did the enjoy the "high civilization" that was spoken of?
Ibime: Wike does not have platform this time if Tinubu takes platform away from him
Wike has only fought election in opposition against Buhari once, and Buhari was a soft touch with opposition which is why Peter Obi was able to have a strong run. That will never happen under Tinubu for Peter Obi. And if Tinubu turns favour away from Wike, he will be finished. There is no loyalty in Rivers politics. They don't back losing horses. You must be anchored to either the Governor or the President for them to support you, with a reasonable prospect of winning from your anchor; and Wike is only anchored to the President now. To lose election in Rivers is to lose everything and nobody will stake their pocket on you if you don't have power aligned in your favour. If President Tinubu aligns with Governor Fubara, it's over for Wike. The HOA and all structure will abandon him like they did to Amaechi
Exactly. Las las, Rivers is one state, and Wike comes with a sh1t ton of baggage.
Knowing BAT tho, he'd stick with him, but fact is Wike leg no firm for ground, and he presents like he has the most to lose.
afrodoc2: Extra money for goal scored? Shared by the team or only to the goalscorer. Na this kind thing dey stop players from passing to each other in front of goal.
From the way it was put na team get am. This na extra motivation for the team to go all the way.
the ps5 on its own is over 200w. then he put a standing AC - which is over 1500w big tv is 150w or less on paper, but always ran my 1200w ups down in ten minutes
I remember my former neighbor who had solar panels on the roof. He told me the story of how the landlord initially consented to him installing the solar panels. Then later the landlord began grumbling about effect of the panel on the roof and risk of burning down the house.
He was pissed with the man because he had initially given his consent. I guess the man spoke to people and they told him those solar panels come with some risks.
Since that neighbor left with his solar panel, I doubt the Landlord will allow any other person to fix theirs .
Don't do solar panels then, get your inverter plus battery and charge with grid, or gen when there's no supply from grid for more than 24hrs.
GloriousGbola: 500w [750va] is on par than the rating of a small 650va ups i pass my neighbour has more capacity at 900va
if you try to run this with anything other than a lights and maybe a laptop and you will hear it.. try it with any tv over 32 inches and you will hear it.
most of these guys shilling these products on youtube are being very very very economical with reality. and their claims that the battery will last 8 to 10 years - that is another story- esp for these low tier africa only chinko/chineseium products
Exactly, na a few light bulbs and maybe one fan e go fit power, and that's for like 5hrs max, plus e go spoil in no time since it'd be discharging deeply.
iamoyindamola: The sunking is good and you can just get the itel power station it as inventer and inbuilt battery that can power 500w of house hold electronic its 300k with a solar panel to charge it, you can also charge with Nepa or generator
I intend to change location this year sha , so I'm cautious of doing any serious improvement that will require me doing wahala to uninstall later. That's why I'm looking for a temporary solution.
Well it depends, with an inverter and battery setup, you won't be doing any serious improvements/modifications, and when you're moving you carry your stuff along and install in your new place then you can add more permanent features like your solar panels.
I use the inverter and battery setup, and with 4 hrs of light morning and another 4 hrs towards evening from grid I'm covered for an entire day, and this is with me using tubular cells.
If you're using lithium, which I'd recommend, you'd be secured beyond 24hrs even, cause you can discharge them deeper than you can tubular, been using mine for 2 years plus now.
My baby doesn't like heat one bit and would start crying the moment light goes off. The rechargeable fan I have barely last 30 minutes once NEPA light goes off.
I've been running on generator for a while now because of how poor power supply has been. But sometimes I feel bad for neighbors and people around.
Imagine NEPA takes light around 2am and I have no choice but to put on the generator because I don't want my baby crying all night due to heat. That means the neighbors have to bear the generator noise for as long as there's no light. There are days I even put on the gen from night till dawn.
Though nobody has called to complain about the generator noise yet, but the way my neighbor downstairs calls during the day to inform me once there's light tells me dem no dey happy with the night own, they just don't have a choice
So, I just feel getting that a lasting rechargeable fan will save my fuel and also save neighbors good night rest free from generator noise.
There are inverter setups you can do for around 1.4 sha, less if you choose not to add panels. You should consider that.
DissTroy: Wike didn't deliver election for Tinubu. Everyone knows Peter Obi won Rivers State.
Everyone knows the fracas which ensued when Wike changed the total tally (including from Obio Akpor LGA) to Tinubu.
This isn't even about vote-buying or disenfranchisement - but outrightly rewriting the total figures. Do I need to repost the videos of election night to this effect?
Again, Wike is hàted in Port Harcourt. He is propping his son to become Obio Akpor LG Chairman like he was 25 year ago, but you can't bellow your support for Wike at Oil Mill Junction or Elelenwo or Slaughter (all areas in Obio Akpor) without getting mugged. Ask your contacts in Rivers State to confirm.
Wike has never delivered Rivers State votes against the general sentiments.
In 2015 - Rivers was pro-Jonathan. In 2019 - Rivers was pro-Atiku. In 2023 - LGA level collation showed Rivers was pro-Obi.
How has Wike delivered against the general sentiments of the people?
If Obi is on the ballot in 2027, the difference will be thin.
Tinubu might more likely win Bayelsa easily than Rivers State.
What Dayo is trying to say is Wike is the only person that can rewrite results, that a Fubara as governor, with federal might and the state REC behind him won't be able to rewrite results as well.
What's the worst that'd happen if Wike gets left out in the cold?
This is someone that's generally seen as coming with too much personal baggage.
Not sure what Tinubu would settle on doing, but it's clear that the odds are stacked against Wike. Yes Wike has control of Rivers HOA, but I'm pretty sure APC has the LGA chairmen in their control, add Fubara, and federal might and you'd see they could very well pull off what Wike did last time around without him.
Wike had his work cut out for him the moment Fubara turned against him.
PDPGuy: Yeah, but what of those who are only visiting?
That's the one that might seem unfair, but considering it's the category that'd have higher rate of visa overstays, I guess that's a strategy for checking that.
iamoyindamola: I just hope other countries don't follow this country route, but are people still interested in this US
Other countries could set figures commensurate with their economies...money you'd need to do biz for China isn't what you'd need to do business in the US.
PDPGuy: E don shele.. The actual bond amount could be either $5,000, $10,000, or $15,000 which will be determined solely by the Visa Officer during the visa interview. The pilot program starts on January 21 of this year🙆🏽♂️
The amount is only refundable if the traveler - exits the U.S. before the expiration of their authorized period of stay, - and also exits the U.S. through certain airports…
Most persons going to the US for business most likely have that amount of liquidity to tie down.
lbrichman2: Simple! I have addressed this before.. Lookman is a finisher, not a winger.. He is scoring now because he plays behind the strikers and he gets passes in the areas where he can strike at goal..
Lookman does not pass No be today.. The reason he's having assists is because the balls get to him where he cannot strike at goal, so he passes or crosses .. If Lookman gets a pass in front of goal, he won't pass to anybody He'd rather find a way to score
Kog45: Only those who don't know football will tell us Lookman is selfish, Lookman style of play can only be appreciated by real football watchers....haba,a selfish player dey get assist and funny highest assists with three goals so far,Abeg talk another thing Oga Ibrich.
Let me make it clear, Osimhen is our starboy so people must talk about him, it's all over social media not only here
I won't call it selfishness, but he does pick certain areas of the pitch to attempt assists from.
Whenever Lookman is on the byline, he'd make the cross, but when he's facing the goal, he'd hardly pass, and whenever he does make the pass he's looking for the return 1-2 that gives him a shooting opportunity. To be fair this is how he typically plays his game, and not something he's might be consciously looking to do.
It's these "selfish" decisions that he makes when within shooting distance that helps him create goals out of nothing, and it's also what makes him clash with Oshimhen who'd have created space expecting a pass. Both players just have to realize that the teams victory comes before everything else.
