Hi everyone, please can anyone advise on doing a second masters in the uk. Basically I intend to study nursing following my recently concluded masters (management and international business) I just got an msc nursing admission and would like to know if I can apply from the uk bearing in mind the academic progression rule. The school needs me to prove academic progression before issuing cas or return to Nigeria and apply.

Has anyone ever been in this situation and got visa approved for another masters in a different field from the previous.

Please any tips ?

Well, there is clearly no academic progression from management and international business to an MSc in Nursing that you can demonstrate, so in your shoes I would keep searching for another university.

What you have to do next is draft a convincing statement of purpose. Something along the lines of how the recent massive effort by the health service in handling the major challenges of the pandemic and the heroic endeavours of healthcare personnel inspired you to decide to devote your career to helping others and doing your bit, so now you want to change careers to nursing, etc., etc.

We went to meet the first wife to collect the death certificate but refused to release it. � I ask the same agent what I could do now he advice that I go get a court affidavit explaining the issue and that should be sufficient enough gurus in the house?

Naturally, I havent any experience of your specific situation, but I would advise this - Do all you can to obtain a copy of the death certificate. Where you cannot obtain one (including going to NPC to see if they can issue a duplicate), then you can do the affidavit wherein your mother states that she does not have a copy of the death certificate, and you provide other evidence of your father's death such as an obituary in a national paper.

Nigerian graduates do not join the armed forces and obtain military training as part of NYSC, and that is what your highlighted box in that question refers to.

Nigeria's NYSC is not such a program.

As long as you've got the death certificate and your late husband is named on your children's birth certificates, that's all you need.

You don't need to prove you were married to your late husband in this connection. Given that your husband is late, the UK government is not interested in the status of your relationship with him, the focus is on proving that he has passed away and consequently you are the sole surviving parent and do not require any other person's consent to take the children out of Nigeria.

Parental authority is held jointly by 2 parents.
When 1 parent is dead, then the surviving parent automatically holds sole parental authority. There is no need for a court order or any official process to formalise this.

The consent form will be signed by your mother alone as the sole surviving parent, and a copy of your father's death certificate should be included among the supporting docs for the application.

I recently got an NHS HCA job. On the job ad. It was stated that those who need tier 2 sponsorship can apply and will be considered. During to document checks, I submitted my BRP wish was a student one and has 20hrs work permit. The HR team called me and raised the concern I then told her that I will need COS to be able to switch visa and work full time. She asked what visa i would need and i told her health and care workers visa. She wrote it down and said ok.. when they finally sent my Unconditional offer letter, the COS wasn't included then I sent a mail back saying I didn't get the COS and kindly requested for it. They replied back saying because the post doesn't meet the salary threshold, they wont be able to issue COS. I sent a mail back quoting the job ad that says this post is open to those who also require sponsorship. And they said unfortunately there's nothing they can do. Pls guys is this really ok or they are trying to play a fast one?

Not sure where the issue of "playing a fast one" comes up.

Firstly, employers do not owe employees without UK citizenship/settled status a COS.

Secondly, the rules are the rules and they state that there is a minimum salary threshold to be met before an employer can issue a COS. Check to see if your proposed salary exceeds that minimum. And there are many people who are earning above the minimum salary for sponsorship but are not being sponsored - part of the job of HR departments is to routinely notify such people in advance of their current visas' expiration that they are required to provide HR with proof of another valid visa.

Lastly, if they are not offering you sponsorship, you either accept that and take the job or move on.

So, I said I was going to update the group on how it goes irrespective of the outcome.

As advised by a few people here, we wrote to the home office requesting for an exceptional assurance. We followed the approach suggested by tobexin and Contra5 and thank God, we have just received a notification granting our request.

We were given an extra 3 months until February 2022. This should be enough.

I want to say a big thank you to everyone who took out time to respond with a possible solution.

I didn't want to go into this analysis, not to be seen as rubbing salt in OPs injury but this a really weird situation.
That said, the incompetence of some university staff and[b] even the international teams can be quite mind boggling[/b].

The university immigration units will have carefully disclaimed all liability for any advice they provide or fail to provide, in fine print that is sometimes longer than the actual substance of the emails they send out.

This isn't exactly helpful though, but what happened to the extra 3months after your course end date? The initial verdict on your project should have been out within your normal term time, with the extra time for you to redo any work required to get a good grade.

It's 4 months actually, and while it's clear the poster doesn't want to go into this, we're all wondering how that extra period got extended way beyond the visa end date in this case.

Put differently, if the visa end date is 11/11/2021, then the course end date on the CAS would have been around mid-July 2021. Any project would have had a deadline for submission by maybe end of May/early June 2021 or so. Having a project extended for another 6 months is strange. Except there is another unmentioned issue, the poster might want to consider if the university acted properly in extending his course by 6 months.

The challenge that brought all this was as stated. Project was written but deemed too poor when compared with those of others. So an extension was sought to allow time to redo the project to our satisfaction (wrong move I know but at the time we were in our feelings).

Extension was granted but then we noticed that studentship status has changed and that we would now require and extension of the Visa.

Several suggested the exception assurance route. I didn't think it was right but from the forgoing, I would have to do that tonight as well as make the extension application as you have suggested.

The challenge of why this is seemingly late is because most mails where not replied even after several reminders. But it's all good.

And going forward, in the event you are ever in a situation where you need action to be taken and are waiting for information/advice about how to do so, always remember that the person sitting in an office (or bedroom) answering their emails one by one can afford to take their time, while you, the person whose time is being wasted, can't, so you should expedite action by seeking help elsewhere.

Background Story.

BRP expires 11th November, 2021. But due to an extension request for project submission, project submission was extended to sometime in December.

Now the challenge is, Coventry Uni has changed student status to part-time from fulltime and we do not know what to do about not overstaying.

Because as it stands now, we cannot apply for the PSW as course is yet to be completed and yet do not know what steps to take to ensure that we continue to remain in the country legally.

We have sent several mails and visited the school but no sensible solution have been proffered. Everyone keeps acting like this is a novel case.

So please my people, has anyone experienced this or know someone who had and what was the workable solution. What does someone do when the visa expires but course is yet to be completed?

First off, I would suggest you consulted an immigration consultant ASAP if your university immigration unit cannot advise you of any options.
You should have applied for an extension to your student visa long before now. I would have thought that would have been one of the options the university immigration unit would have informed you of as I know of people who have been in a somewhat similar situation and have been notified of that route.

The Isle of Man is one of those uniquely British constructs that are confusing. It says its not part of the United Kingdom, but its citizens carry British passports, not UK passports. However, entry into the IOM from outside the UK requires a UK visa, so in this case, I would say there is no "correct" answer to your question - in your shoes I would indicate the baby's date of birth in IOM as the date of her entry into the UK, just as one would have done had the baby been born in mainland UK.

I don't think the Home Office will bounce her application based on the confusing technicality of when someone who was born in the IOM did or did not enter mainland UK. Or you could go the legalistic route and include a cover letter briefly describing the situation. I don't think the date of the issuance of her Nigerian passport has any significance in this regard.

P.S. If this needs to be said, this is an opinion only - never been in this situation.

No need to overthink this.
Two lines will suffice - all that is required is a jointly signed letter stating something along the lines of "We (both parents) declare we are the parents of (X) and we jointly consent to this application for a passport for X". No format required.

As to your first question, your appointment date at the HC is not to submit paperwork (you have done that online through the NIS portal), but to complete the passport application process.

I don't think so, might not be the case.
An EV is still an EV, subject to the same approximately 240 mile range constraints (unless the Chinese have made a great leap forward regarding battery technology of which the world is not aware). Again, except there is something the other manufacturers arent telling us, 25k is a huge difference between the average prices of other EVs (which retail for around 40k and above new), so a lot of customers will definitely think on that before buying as well.

The surname on all my credentials (WAEC, degree, NIN, international passport etc) is Tunji, but I don’t want my children to bear Tunji but Olatunji. My children now have Olatunji as there surname on there birth certificates and NIN. I have done affidavit in court to claim that I am the same person having surname as Tunji and Olatunji. So my questions are, is this acceptable legally and will there be any problem at the airport when traveling abroad with the children. Or any future implications for me and the children.

You've already made a legal name change. Your children are still under your parental authority so you and their other parent have the right to assign to them any names you choose. Are you having second thoughts or do you want to reverse the name change? Perhaps to try Oluwatunji?

As to whether that could cause complications for you at an airport, obviously if you're travelling with them you will (or should) carry all legal documentation regarding your status as their parent and the name change, so you should be able to explain matters to anyone who asks.

What if the name arrangement on the passport differs from that on the statement of account?

Passports and identity documents generally follow the "surname, other names" format as this is required, the surname is the identifier.
Any other documentation does not need to be in the same format and could list "other names, surname" or follow the "surname, other names" format. It's immaterial which format these follow as long as the individual is clearly identifiable.

A bank is not going to change its IT systems because someone wants their names to be printed in the "surname, other names" format.

Why would you want to complicate issues with an affidavit?
Absolutely no need for that - its very clear that the names match and both statements refer to one and the same person.
